CoolkaT I hope you start to feel better soon.

rosa hope you have a fabby time.

Twinks and sparkle. Hope you get some better sleep, guys! I know DD1 was very much like this, she only really settled to a good napping and night sleep pattern at aroud 11 months, but there was gradual improvement. I too knew that if I left her to cry she wouls just get into such a state- you can sort of tell from the way they cry, DD1 would sob, even if I put her down for a minute when she couldn't sleep. SHe sleeps so well now.

I feel I wm getting to a crunch point with my mother. It is very hard, and I am more than a little scared. I don't know if I ready for this yet.

cricri · 16/06/2009 20:55

Sparkle and Twinkling Really feel for you with the not sleeping as I've been in the same boat. Last week E was waking up 3-4 times in the night to feed. She seems genuinely hungry too, it's not just a comfort thing. I know what you mean about not wanting to let them cry either - E tends to work herself up into a frenzy too which achieves nothing I feel. But it's so hard when you're sleep deprived and can't seem to see any end in sight. Having two to cope with makes it even more difficult. But this week has been better here, so fingers crossed it's just a phase for both of you too. Could it be linked to a development stage? Sleep often goes out of the window when they're trying to master a new skill.
Thanks for all your replies about naps - it's interesting to see how different the babies all are! I do go with what E wants to do and put her down when she's tired, but I'm just surprised that she never has a long nap during the day. Perhaps it will come in time. The evening routine is going so much better though - asleep by 6.45pm again tonight and I've had to re-settle her once only. Last night was the same
Ceebee Hope the scan went well and that you enjoyed your Mars bar afterwards
Lacks Pleased your DH is on the mend.
Phee Hope the hearing assessment goes ok and that HV is worrying over nothing.
Coolkat Glad you're feeling better today.
Vbab Sounds as though you had a lovely morning with A Plans for DS's birthday sound fab.
Ladybuzz Hope your friend got some answers today - not knowing the cause must make it even harder to bear
Rosa Glad you're having a lovely time at the beach.

barbareebaa · 16/06/2009 20:58

hello!
supermegaslow typing here so i don wake the boy!
lb so sorry about your friend. desperately sad x
coolkat hoping you're starting to feel better!
twinkling oof! i am also with child who will not be left in cot. have given up now, accepted he is how he is (not prepared to go down any route that will cause distress - for me or him) so do bath etc at 6pm then he sleeps on my lap 'til 11pm then we both go to bed. we get up 7ish - sometimes 9!! i feed him then we play and i eat chocolate and drink coffee and then we go back to bed til 12ish. i try to get out in the afternoon so he sleeps in his pram. it's all a bit full on and i am told i am ruining him and making a rod etc and i must get my life back but am seeing this next 5 years as baby rearing (hopefully have another) and trying to see it as a relatively short spell in the grand scheme altho when we get our own place again will defo give cot a go again. don't mind co-sleeping just wish for an hour or 2 'off' of an evening. hope tonight is going better for you x

W is now loving blw idea is gobble monster! terrified of choking but so far ok, gag reflex not too bad but think tongue tie stops him from being able to push large bits back out - so scary. he's not worried tho but i keep having to swipe bits off him which really pisses him off! he clamps his mouth shut for spoons now so we will just have to keep going with this. when does it stop being so hair-raising???

so sorry if x-post. taken an hour and half to write post between feeding and re-settling! x

huddles in the corner with the no-sleep club. no advice but lots of empathy, although bumble has the odd good night and I think is this it....then back to the same old four times a night feeding the next night.

I'm sure it is related to the amount of milk he won't take in the day. I have a thread in the feeding section so hopefully I'll get some useful responses. I can do with seeing my HV but have to wait for a delivery tomorrow so will miss the clinic. I think he may be getting too much solid food and not enough milk. He didn't have a BF from breakfast until after teatime today and I'm sure my supply is affected as this has been going on for nearly a week. I'm getting thoroughly disillusioned with the whole thing.

DD is being a pain as well and is refusing to go to bed...she didn't settle until about half eight tonight and bumble was up again as well at 8.15. They always do this to me when DH goes fishing for the evening; like they have some inbuilt missing parent radar.

No news from Ceebee?

barbs....when you coming to Leeds then? or will juanita and I come to you? Valley Gardens is supposed to be lovely; I've never been.

juanitad · 16/06/2009 21:25

And maybe a sneaky trip to Betty's too lacks, liked the sound of it today from that girl at stay and play.

Hope ceebee is ok, no sign of her on scrabble either.

P is a bit off and on with his sleeping too, some nights he might go from 7 till 4 before waking, others he will be wanting a feed at 10 and every couple of hours after that. I'm finding it hard to imagine ever having a full night's sleep again! But that poem ChocO posted a while ago has kept me going, I often think of it during those wee small hours, thanks Choc!

Hi all - I have been reading lots but I am such an impatient so and so that I skim read and so now I don't remember who said what!

Anyhoo - here are my thoughts on the current topics:

Naps M has 2 naps a day - 30 mins between 9.30 and 10.30 and 2 hours between 12.30 and 3pm. His naps are really good and he usually stays asleep until I wake him, for this I thank static radio - it really works! We have a nap routine - nappy change, story and light show before each nap which I think helps settle him well - when I turn on the static radio he grins excitedly and looks at the ceiling. But this is since having the same routine since he was about 8 weeks old.

Someone was asking about an afternoon nap - M cut this out on his 6 month birthday (not 3 mo as a certain GF suggests ).

Weaning M is eating anything and everything now - even some of my fab ice lolly at the weekend . I don't really chop/mush anything for him now as he copes fine with lumps (even chewing a tough piece of lamb for 15 mins until it went down!) - I actually found he gagged more on purées whereas with lumps because they don't slide down so easy he knows he has to work on them first IYSWIM? Also he prefers really big lumps that he can chew about on - I don't know if this is because he is teething and its soothing?

Things are good with us - M is a bit tetchy at the moment, I think its teething but sing "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and he's all smiles again - while my respective body parts are all bruised from 50 renditions a day !

barbareebaa · 16/06/2009 21:46

daisy valley gardens is lovely - do come over one sunny afternoon - would be sooo nice! there is Ripley icecream and everthing!am pretty much available every afternoon for the forseeable sorry you too are havin sleep probs. hope you get some help with bumbles milk feeds. w was attached to my boob al night pretty much and i wondered if it was because he hadn't had enough during the day. but how to wean and bf - am just stumbling along!

ooh! mon bezzie mate of 30 years is being induced today (after her waters broke) with ds3 - she is prob pushing as i type! love that girl! he will have same bday as her ds1 go suzy go!

vbab78 · 16/06/2009 21:48

choc at heads, shoulders ... song. Alyssa loves "went to the shop to buy a stick of rock ..." and "this is the way the ladies ride ...". But she also loves me holding her and dancing silly with DS and "ready, steady, go" and I do something rough like throwing her in the air or kissing her lots .

Forgot to say ... Alyssa was chasing DS around the kitchen in her walker earlier. So funny. They were both giggling. Lovely to see what a close bond they have. Why the hell didnt I get the camcorder out though?! DUH.

Ceebee74 · 16/06/2009 21:52

Have read all the posts but am too knackered to reply - will try and catch up properly tomorrow

My mum has been here all afternoon/evening as she looked after the Hamster whilst I was at the hospital - and she has only just left so no opportunity to come on MN!!

Scan was ok - the sonographer said that there are some gallstones but 'they are not causing any major trouble' (try telling me that when I am in absolute agony at 2am!!) Anyway, I have to wait 2 weeks and then make an appointment with my GP to discuss the results/way forward so yet another delay and he may not even suggest having the damn thing taken out.

Daisy thanks for the text to check everything is ok - it is nice to know that people were thinking about me (or was it just revenge for me stalking you the other week )

ChocOrange05 · 16/06/2009 22:00

Vbab whats "went to the shop to buy a stick of rock"???

ceebee glad you are back safe and sound - but at your sonographer/GP for not pushing your case forward. It never ceases to amaze me how the NHS swings and roundabouts from being great in some places and terrible in others .

PinkyMinxy · 16/06/2009 22:05

ceebee glad the scan went ok. I hopr you get the outcome you need.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/06/2009 22:08

Phew Ceebee, I was worried it was something worse than gallstones for a minute there!

I was told that some people live with them happily, but that if you are symptomatic then the favoured course of action is removal of the gallbladder. You are already dieting so cutting down on fat and if that isn't keeping it at bay then surely an op would be needed?

Fingers crossed your doc doesn't agree with the sonographer.

Isn't it weird though having an ultrasound that doesn't involve babies?

A trip to Harrogate it is then......how about next week sometime?

barbareebaa · 16/06/2009 22:09

how frustrating ceebee

ChocOrange05 · 16/06/2009 22:11

Has anyone else seen this - I am ROFL .

I can't believe people are brave enough to type such things on the net, let alone do them!!

LackaDAISYcal · 16/06/2009 22:17

oh and meant to add, bumble loves the hokey cokey and goes ballistic, arms and legs flailing when we sing it to him, and I swear he was doing the twinkle actions to twinkle twinkle today at S&P.

barbareebaa · 16/06/2009 22:19

hurah! that would be so fab - but might have to stand around outside betty's - have never dared to go in i hear their fat rascals are very popular tho
any day is good for me so it is up to you and juanita and possibly the weather!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 16/06/2009 22:27

betty's are very child ffriendly according to one of out S&P chums. I've emailed them to ask about how gluten free their menu is...I suspect not

barbareebaa · 16/06/2009 22:31

really? am bit uncouth but willing to give betty's a go if the bouncers will let me in

barbareebaa · 16/06/2009 22:34

ver funny thread btw choco! thanks for link!

ChocOrange05 · 16/06/2009 22:38

Have finally posted a couple of photos of my dear boy on facebook for anyone who is interested.

tegan · 17/06/2009 06:24

I have just been looking at pics of all you're gorgeous babes on fb andi have to say i think there is a little buggy addiction going on.

vbab78 · 17/06/2009 08:33

ceebee - glad the scan went ok. Hope you on the mend soon.
choc - good job I wasnt having a drink of tea when I read that thread.

The "rock" song (child sat on knees with legs either side holding their hands):

Alyssa/Ryan went to the shop to buy a stick of rock. She opened the bag and the bag went pop. (On "pop" drop/lower child between legs)

The song sort of doesnt make sense but has been passed down in the family. Which of course makes sense that it doesnt make sense . Its fun anyway.

The "ladies" song (my family version):
This is the way the ladies ride:
Trot, Trot, Trot (with actions while child sat on your knees)
This is the way the gentlemen ride:
Gallop, Gallop, Gallop (really rough)
This is the way the farmers ride:
Hobbledy-ho,Hobbledy-ho (side to side)
This is the way Alyssa/Ryan rides:
Gallop, gallop, gallop and into into a Ditch! (child through legs)

Realising my family rhymes are the originals after a round of chinese whispers.

Ceebee74 · 17/06/2009 08:52

Thanks ladies for your wishes.

Daisy I am keeping the symptoms at bay at the moment - but only by never eating a 2-course meal (let alone a 3 course meal!) or a takeaway or meals in restaurants - which is fine for the short-term but I am not really prepared to spend the rest of my life monitoring every mouthful that goes into my mouth in the hope it doesn't tip me over into having an attack iyswim? I guess I am going to have to stress that point to the doctors.

Loving the songs - I am quite boring and don't really know many songs so the Hamster gets the theme tune to Thomas sung to him quite a lot by DS1

I am just wondering if I could gatecrash the meet-up in Harrogate Am going to have a look at how far away it is from me and how long it would take to get there (I think it might just be a little too far) I LOVE Bettys

Off to read that other thread now!

LackaDAISYcal · 17/06/2009 11:25

ceebee, Harrogate is only about another half hour/three quarter hour further from Roundhay Park, but I'm sure it would be about the same if you went more directly rather than skirting all the way round Leeds. And not gatecrashing; the more the merrier

I'm loving all the photos on FB. Haven't we just got the most gorgeous bunch of babies?

A better night here.....dream feed at 11ish and then 3ish and up at 7. This is progress!!

coolkat · 17/06/2009 11:45

mmmmm eating hot buttered toast, got my antibiotics, so should be feeling well soon, yee hah!!
