WaspElly · 05/07/2009 22:40

Yipeee!
I resurface with internet connection at home for the first time in more than a year! That year's flown by in our new venue and it's wierd thinking that Tamsin's going to be going to preschool in the Autumn just before her big bro goes to school in Jan. I've started to feel that I'm more part of the "village" (It's bigger than it looks is Newton Ferrers/ Noss Mayo:pop about 2k, but likes to call itself a village or 2{?})
Hiya to the South Hampshire crew and really lovely to see from a quick scan that others are still on the scene (waves to CaptDippy)
Didja miss me?
Life's pretty good in a holiday cottage seaside kinda way, but the pay cut DH took to get us here means that I've got to stop swanning around having fun & trying not to spend money entertaining the kids (crabbing's best as it doesn't involve ice-cream shops in the near vicinity) and GET A PAYING JOB. Bah!
Still, we're managing to live the life of our affluent neighbours/friends by sailing a lot of underused boats/canoes/motorboats for friends who are happy to have them maintained used.
Hope everyone's well and doesn't 2 years seem like forever ago?

Bramshott · 05/07/2009 23:05

Great to see you Elly. I have been randomly surfing tonigh whilst waiting for family history documents to load, and I had to click when I saw this in active convos with your name! Glad you are happy in Devon. Yes, the last 2 years have flown haven't they!!! Barely seems the other day we were all having lunch in Southampton with our bumps! Off to bed now, sorry, but great to see you.

Octothechildherder · 05/07/2009 23:08

Waves again frantically - been v busy myself - lurking more than anything. Love Noss Mayo - have family friends there.

Hope all are well

Octo x

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2009 08:16

Hi everyone, especially WaspElly and Octo - can't believe we've had two guest appearances in the same day!!
Did it take anyone else's LO a while to get used to a big bed? I thought T would be fine as he's never been fussy in the past (and he liked the bed - seemed really excited by it) but we really seem to be struggling to get him to sleep in the evnings. Last night I think it was about 9.30, then he was up at 12.30, 2, 4, 6 . The bright side (I suppose...) is that that was the worst night we've had in a very long time, apart from when he's ill.

Octothechildherder · 06/07/2009 11:47

Ernie will be cot bound until he doesn't physically fit in it or can climb out!!

He has been toilet trained though

I am busy setting up a new business making bespoke nursery furniture and importing wet bags etc - but have mountain of stuff to do around hosue aswell - a bit non-stop to be honest!

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2009 12:17

Wee T likes to sleep sideways - which is uncomfortable ina cot He fell out of bed last night, onto the duvet I'd laid on the floor. I ran in as I heard him winge (the 2am one) and by the time I got there he was snoring away on the floor, so i just covered him with a blanket and went back to bed
Wow to toilet trained already!!
Your life sounds hectic!

Sexonlegs · 06/07/2009 16:45

Hi loves.

Lovely to see Octo and Elly

K isn't in a bed yet and is nowhere near being potty trained!!!

Am mortified. Had to see B's teacher after school. Turns out her and another girl were caught weeing under a bench in the school playground by the Head Teacher I am stunned, embarrassed, upset and angry all at the same time. Not sure what to do.

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2009 17:52

Am thinking the bed was a bad idea Unless it's just taking him time to adjust.
Not sure what to suggest SOL, sorry - I have yet to get to this point with T Sounds like girls being silly though - I bet she is embarrassed and upset enough herself to have learned her lesson

OP posts:
oooggs · 06/07/2009 19:21

Jack has been a nightmare in a bed, Erin will be staying in her cot until she is 5!

Hi Elly - your not far from me now

hey Octo - that sounds good - a bit late for me though

SOL - I have no suggestions, James did something very very dumb last term and the headteacher rang me, I was mortified and it was so out of character. Infact so not him that I don't believe it happened and I think he was set up by a nasty girl who made it up.

I am having huge problems, I am so angry still, I don't know why, I have been put on the combined pill today and I hope that helps. But I am taking everything out on James, and as for shouting, it isn't a very nice place to be in our house

elkiedee · 06/07/2009 20:12

We've turned D's cot into a bed, but he actually sleeps on a mattress on the floor, or sometimes on the floor in some really odd positions. After 2/3 very good months in his cot in his own room, he started getting very stroppy when dp tried to put him in there so I suggested leaving him on the mattress.

CaptainDippy · 07/07/2009 12:30

Sounds like you could do with oooggs, be gentle to yourself - you have A LOT on your plate. xx

LOL @ SOL's DH going to see Hannah Montana!!

Also to you in your embarrassment and confusion sweetheart. If it helps, B is only a little girl still, what she did (weeing under the bench) is inappropriate and a bit naughty; but it is the sort of thing a 6 year old does - especially when 'egg-ed' on by friends - little children are silly and irrational - they don't have a fully developed sense of what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'; or what is 'inappropriate behaviour' or 'appropriate behaviour' is - that is what parents are here for (no pressure or anything ) You are a good mum who strives to instil a sense of value, moral responsibilty, and good behaviour into your beloved child. Take this situation as a positive, turn it on it's head: Explain to B why her behaviour was inapproprioate; tell her that you still love her and that you will always love her, no matter what she does ... and if she does it again you'll kick her arse and take away all her priviledges for at least a week!!!!! Get her to apologise to the Headteacher too - she needs to understand her actions had consequences

Sorry for the splurge - hope that helps!!?

WaspElly and Octo - Wonderful to "see" you both

runnyhabbit · 07/07/2009 12:40

Just a quick hello to you all

Am so fed up of illness in this house - viruses, tonsilitis, impetigo, and now I've got conjunctivitus

W not sleeping very well at all either.

Could someone please stop the world for a minute or two, just so I can catch my breath

Catch up properly later (J has SALT appt today)

x

Bramshott · 07/07/2009 13:08

SOL - was the 'friend' the poo-ing in the bath girl?

CaptainDippy · 07/07/2009 13:18

Oh yes, Bramshott - I remember her now - I wonder if it was!!?

Oh RH

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2009 13:20

CaptainDippy · 07/07/2009 13:33

Hey SPB - how was last night with T??

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2009 13:35

bit better thanks, in bed late but not too bad, very quick feed at 2 and then up at 5.20.
How are things with you?

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 07/07/2009 13:37

Glad it was better Things are ok in DippyLand

Sexonlegs · 07/07/2009 14:09

Hello

Dippy, your post was so lovely, it made me well up! So spot on. You have such a wise head on young shoulders

And yes, Bramshott - with the amazing memory - it was the poo-ing in the bath friend!!

Fortunately, and without sounding big-headed, B is in a higher group for everything educational, so they are apart during most of the day; just at play-time they go a bit bonkers!!

Runny, sorry things are so rough atm; have a HUG xx

MJ, hoping your absence is not related to your dear doggy being poorly. Hope you are ok. x

Hi to everyone else - need to dash.

Bramshott · 07/07/2009 15:07

Ah-ha, well in that case I'll wager it was very little to do with B, and that she was just following peer pressure. Does this girl have "issues" around this sort of thing?!?

oooggs · 07/07/2009 20:04

well thought out Bramshott

dippy - you are indeed full of the right words

runny - hope all better soon and that SALT was helpful

blimey katy - you don't get that much more sleep than me

last night was terrible, no idea what was wrong with Jack but he eventually ended up in our bed didn't know what was wrong with Luke either as he was also up loads, crying and not settling - well found the reason this morning - a razor peg!!!!

Poor little soul is doased in calpol at the mo but still not happy

oooggs · 07/07/2009 20:04

dosed

runnyhabbit · 07/07/2009 20:39

Hello all

Thank you for all the hugs - very muchly welcomed

Have stopped feeling sorry for myself/boys. Esp as J loved being back at school, and the other mums told that their dc kept asking where J was, and wanted him back in school

J has been having various types of SALT since October. His language and understanding skills are fab, but has difficulty pronouncing certain letters. We go to a Popat group which works really well - just a case of retraining him, with lots of repetative exercises - or games as J tells me

In the nicest way, I'm glad others are having sleep problems. Don't know what on earth is up with W. For the past few nights he's woke at 11pm (really hot) then back to sleep until 4am (much cooler) Playing musical beds is no fun at night.

Going to try and catch up now

StealthPolarBear · 08/07/2009 08:20

Oh no oooggs, sounds like a bad night! Hope that tooth comes through fully today.
Well just to prove me wrong T had a mammoth sleep last night. I had to go and pick DH up from work so he slept in the car pretty much from 6 until 7.30. When we got back I thought I'd at least try to transfer him. He went back to sleep fine and came to wake me up (no crying, just came to get me) at 5.30 this morning . That means he hasn't had a feed last night or this morning - so I'm back on the breast pads for the first time in about a year

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 08/07/2009 10:21

to those have crappy nights Poor little Luke with his Razor Peg P is cutting her "vampire teeth" atm and is very restless, pointing to her mouth, saying "ow" - the downsides of having children who are late to teeth.

Glad my words helped at bit SOL - like Bramshott said- this poo-ing in the bath friend clearly has issues!! xx
