Happy 40th Dooby. Hope you are having a truly wonderful day my lovely

Dippy, yep. 10 days to go

POTC, how was Ipswich?
Bramshott/SB, ikwym re emotional dc! Although to be fair, B had Sports Day yesterday and she was fab - no whinging and playing up like last year!!

We have also found out that B will be having the same teacher in Year 2 which is fab news, as she is excellent.

Hope everyone is ok, and not melting.

elkiedee · 02/07/2009 18:08

Happy birthday Dooby!

StealthPolarBear · 02/07/2009 19:23

How is everyone? Feel like I've barely been here! Things are so hectic at work - I have 9 holidays left to take between now and end of August and I don't even have time to plan when to take them - let alone actually take them!

POTC · 02/07/2009 21:18

haven't been yet SOL - it's on Saturday

now, how are we thinking J might react to sitting in a cinema with a dinosaur in 3d on screen

POTC · 03/07/2009 11:41

Where are you all?

Found another offer thread for Lazytown fans

POTC · 03/07/2009 12:18

Ok, I know Eddas is there because she's been mad enough to book for Lazytown too

Eddas · 03/07/2009 12:38
Grin
oooggs · 03/07/2009 12:46

now Ice Age I could go with, but Lazy Town

ds1 hasn't been to the cinema yet and as for dts not until they are 10!

POTC · 03/07/2009 14:04

'Tis in the Theatre Oooggs (so much more posher )

I'm gonna hate it, I know I am, but the boys will love it so I'll just strap J to a chair and have a sleep

POTC · 03/07/2009 14:13

As for cinema, M loves it. Went first time when he was 3 I think and has been several times since including to see Cars twice! Good place to start with little ones is movies for juniors on saturday mornings. Ours starts at 10am. It costs £1 each and they show childrens films that have just come out on dvd. It's designed for children and I figure that if it's a disaster I've only wasted £1 each instead of the ridiculous price they are usually
We often have choice of 2 or 3 as well. This week is Bedtime Stories, Bolt or Enchanted.

The woolworths site that has organised the Ice Age thing has a section for you to register and then have the opportunity to get tickets to cinema for free. Might be worth doing, I'm gussing it'll be different venues each time.

Eddas · 03/07/2009 17:26

wish i'd seen the Ice Age thread they'd love that oh well. We took dd to the kids club films(£2.50 at our cinema) when she was nearly 3. Good way to try them out! She's been to a fair few films but all bar one were kids club, the only one I paid full price for was HSM3 but only coz I wanted an excuse to go

POTC · 03/07/2009 17:30

I have now seen the HSM films, and still don't get what all the fuss is about

Doobydoo · 03/07/2009 21:18

Haloo.Thanks for bday wishes
Lovely quietish day and pink wine and I have a copy of Country Living magazine and Bad Heir Day Book.Fam over tomorow for other pressies and takeaway[yaaay]
DS1 took a sicky on Wed and we went to Skegness on spur of moment as he hayfever was dreadful he spent an hour and a half on his surfboard and felt much better.M does not like the seaside and sat in his pushchair eating and did not put one toe on the sand!
Have fab time at Ice age it looks fun.
Am hoping ds1 and dp will be able to go and see Walking with Dinosaurs show...I would love to go but it isn;t suitable for M.
Hope all is well with you all,and have a lovely weekend

StealthPolarBear · 04/07/2009 11:09

Hello!

Aaaaaahhhhh - Peace and Quiet at last

I take my oldest two (4 and 5) to Movies for Juniors every (pretty much) Sat morning. Have been doing so since DD2 was 3ish I think. Went to see Bolt last week, which was excellent

Right, off to consume much cake .....

Eddas · 04/07/2009 21:10

bloody bolt has been played over and over in my house, it was good the first time but lost it's shine after the millionth play

oooggs · 04/07/2009 21:48

ok you have convinced me that I am being neglectful and will arrange for ds1 to go to the cinema - dh and I now start the fight for who gets to see Ice Age 3

I did take him when he was 3 (just after dts were born) to see the Tweenies in the theatre. I wasn't feeling very well and fell asleep

Weather has been hit and miss here today and it is the Regatta weekend

Nearly finished our bedroom and are moving back in tomorrow, 'old' hall, stairs and landing next!!

CaptainDippy · 05/07/2009 08:34

LOL oooggs - yes you are being VERY neglectful - I mean, it is not like you have anything else to do!!

In a funny place this morning, but coping ....

elkiedee · 05/07/2009 10:54

I used to take my baby brother to the cinema all the time, probably from when he was about 3/4 (I'm 8 years older). We used to go to special Saturday morning matinees which had special long and short films of their own that I don't think were shown any other time, but also to see U certificate films when they were on, and I bought us both sweets from the old fashioned sweet shop on the way home (don't suppose it's still there now).

StealthPolarBear · 05/07/2009 20:40

SLEEP child sleep!!

OP posts:
oooggs · 05/07/2009 20:48

T do what mummy says - she knows best

StealthPolarBear · 05/07/2009 20:54

Thanks oooggs - Daddy's turn for a story and a pat to sleep now!
The irony is, it would work if I lay down to feed him, but then I'd fall asleep too and wake up just in time to brush my teeth and fall into bed. So we still wouldn't have any evening iyswim, and probably I also wouldn't be able to drop back off

OP posts:
oooggs · 05/07/2009 20:59

oh I have done that so many times over the years, so has dh, (not the feeding!!!) just laying down with them until they fall asleep then waking up about an hour or two later.

I have just been listing on ebay need to get rid of some junk make some money

Sexonlegs · 05/07/2009 21:49

Hi lovelies, hope you have all had a good weekend.

Dooby, glad you had a good birthday

Luce, glad your first week at work went well; hope week 2 is as good.

B has only been to the cinema once, and that was in May! She hates too much noise, and sits with her fingers in her ears . She enjoyed her cinema trip with dh - they went to see Hannah Montana!!!!!!

Had a busy weekend. It was B's school fayre yesterday which was lovely; B's year were dancing around the maypole B then had a pool party to go to - such a busy social life.
