I swear to the almighty I think they've given me the wrong baby. I've barely seen her eyes open since she was born, she feeds when she can be bothered and she has been sleeping loads. I hate to say I feel rested and refreshed but I do . If this is going to be my little #4 then I won't complain!

LoobyLou36 · 21/05/2009 10:43

well todays the day - my first mum & baby group

what to do about feed tho? we're still 50/50 formula/bf
i haven't bf in front of strangers b4, apart from when i had to go to out of hours gp at the hospital when one chap tutted and walked off in disgust

i don't have any bf tops and am a bit worried about embarassing myself/flashing.LO doesn't always latch properly either. should i take formula? can i make it up b4 i go?

this probably sounds really pathetic but we've hardly left the house since M got home for more than a half hour walk round the block due to bad cs wound infection/not being able to drive so have lost alot of confidence

Belgianchocolates · 21/05/2009 12:32

Hi everyone. Checking in on our p/n thread now too. It'll be much easier once all may babies have been born This going back and forth between threads can be a tad confusing at the moment.

looby Like I said in the a/n thread: it's very unlikely someone will say anything about you bf at a m&b group. If anything, you'll probably find you're not the only one Do go, it'll be nice to get out of the house and see some adults for a change. Oh and if you do take formula, you shouldn't make it up before you go. Most m&b groups have bottle warming facilities too, so that shouldn't be a problem.

sleep Can't remember who said that they had more sleep, yet feel more tired. I understand, that was me last week. I'm finally starting to feel back to normal though. I've become a fan of sleep on f/b too

llare don't know what your mum has done, but I do hope you'll work things out with her. Hope you're OK.

older dcs Mine are OK, but only because DH is giving them attention + if he's not there I'm letting them play on the computer/ds nearly all day , but it does keep them quiet! Next week I'm on my own with them for half term. I'm hoping for nice weather so we can go to the park. I'm also thinking about taking them to the cinema. Not sure whether it's a good idea or not with a baby in tow.

Well, C seems to be having a good start to the day. Maybe she was having a 4 day growth spurt or maybe it's just a morning thing. She fed at about 8.30 and has only just finished the next feed. That was probably about 3h between feeds! I offered her the 2nd breast and she didn't even want all of it and went straight to sleep and is now in her pram. I hope she's turning a corner now I did pop out to buy some dummies today, so I've got them on stand by if she goes back to the 45min-hourly feeding business. She also had a good night: fed at 10.30, then 2.30, then 4.30 and 6.30. For her that's not bad and this morning I'm feeling awake and really well.

pulapula · 21/05/2009 13:02

looby- hope you made it/make it to M&B group. You will find there will be a lot of BF and FF going on their, so there should be no-one tutting etc. Also worth seeing if there is a local BF support group- this is the first thing i went to when my DD was 5 weeks old and was really nice. Like someone said on the AN thread, everyone loves a newborn and i'm sure you will feel more confident afterwards for going. I think M&B groups are also great for seeing how babies develop- you can see what your LO will be like in a few months time when they are all smiley etc.

Hi everyone. I haven't much time for MN between Rueben and all my relatives staying. I miss you guys!!!!
I am pleased to say feeding is going really well I feel really confident this time and have had no nipple pain, no engorgement and Rueben feeds pretty quickly and latches easily. My mum has been great support and I don't know what I would do without her. Anabel is adjusting to being a big sister she has been a bit unsettled but as she has SIL sleeping in her room, My mum and aunty here and my mums cousin its a full house and a bit overwelming not to mention I wasn't here for 3 days and have come home with a brother for her. I'm sure she will settle down and be fine.

Looby Hope you enjoyed M and B group its a bit daunting to get out at first but they will be great support to you as M develops. Try not to worry about BF in public, use a muslin to cover yourself and turn your chair towards the wall while you latch. I'm sure I flash everyone but I try not to have shame and know my baby needs it and it keeps them quiet . Otherwise FF will be fine when you are out.

I had a feeling you'd understand, dandy. Yes, most things were said by me and but it really from my mother's perspective she has never forgiven me for meeting my father's wife. I can understand her perspective but it is ridiculous of her to think that I'd never see my father again because he remarried. My mother is a very difficult woman and I feel a great sense of relief that I don't have to pretend anymore.

Hope the baby group went well Looby.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 21/05/2009 16:58

What an impressive list we have!!

Just back from DS new baby check at Drs. Earlier had first visit from HV too. DS was 3460g on Monday and 3520g today so we're slowly getting there. He also passed his hearing test

Momino - thanks for your comments on having DC2+ I'm sure in a few months I'll be contemplating DC2...!

Belgianchocolates · 21/05/2009 18:17

looby How did your tripto the m&b group go?

We'll see frazz on here soon i see. Does that make the boy to girl ratio equal now?

I've been to the osteopath today, because I really wanted to know what they thought about my posture/pelvis now I'm not pregnant anymore. Well, it was really good. It turns out I've got a small degree of scoleosis and one of my legs is a touch longer than the other, so together that tilts my pelvis and caused all the strain with the hormones and C's massive weight etc... It's really good to know what's wrong. In a few weeks' time once all the hormones swirling around have settled a bit I'll go back for some more treatment. I've had one session and now I'm not pregnant anymore it's so much more intense. I felt like I was getting crushed!

The osteo appointment ended up lasting an hour and a half, while it's normally 45min, so I was 45min late to pic up the dcs from school The school had tried phoning home, but DH didn't hear the phone and for some reason they didn't try his mobile.

Oh and I thought now the dcs were older I wouldn't be subjected to annoying Cbeebies programmes, but now Cbbc has got Tronji. Easily as irritating as the night garden or the fimbles [grrr]

morning all.
What's new on the thread today?
am so tired again but slept fairly well (belgian, I was the one earlier who said i was tired though had more sleep). Harper went to sleep last night about 1130 after needing cuddles from 9pm. then was up at 4am for a quick feed and now up again at 6.

today is my 1st full day with all 3 DCs. we're going to go to play group at 10am - think i can do it? i'm going to treat like a nursery day so we can be out of the house on time. a friend of mine has been kind to offer to come round to help so we can all walk to pgroup together.

still eating junk... is it BF influence? or lack of willpower . yesterday, i had 2 yumyums, 4 choc hazlenut biscuits, couple of shortbread... . well i did have muesli/yoghurt for breakfast, healthy pasta for lunch, lots of veg/salad with my not=so-healthy scampi supper, i think i'm just getting the balance wrong.

hope all are well today.

Blottedcopybook · 22/05/2009 07:07

Ahahaha Momino I've been eating like that too, it's really quite unusual for me but the novelty of not having to test my blood sugar three times a day has kicked in.

I am so engorged it's not even funny, Greer is mucking around on and off the breast and not draining me so I'm going to have to get going with the pump later before my boobs burst. I feel like I'm growing another rack under my armpits!

Momino · 22/05/2009 09:18

blotted, forgot about GD, must be a relief not to have to test bl sugar .

well, so far on track for play group. only prob is that i can't find the buggy board anywhere, think it's at in laws in Manchester. so, DD1 will have to walk the whole way which is about a mile each way. not too far for a 3yr5mo old . might take a day to get there and a day to get back!

LisaLessLumpy · 22/05/2009 09:20

Hello ladies, I hope this is the right topic to post this on.

I had a text from Mini Menace yesterday... She gave birth to a lovely son Isaac Michel, born at 12.55pm by emergency c-section on the 21st of May and weighing in at 7lb 3oz. Everyone doing well

Tummum · 22/05/2009 09:33

Morning all. Having a crappy time here. Cancelled the w/e away because G is being a nightmare in the evenings. Once he is asleep he is really good, waking only once at 4ish for a feed but all evening he is on the boob and I am getting really sore as a result. I am resisting giving him a dummy but thinking of replacing the last feed of the night with formula to give my nips a rest. Sorry, moaning again !

Good luck Monimo with the play group. Let us know how you get on

Also Looby how did you get on yesterday?

Re: Eating... I am eating for England, and crap stuff too. Cake is my downfall. No wonder my bum and stomach are still humungous and wobbly !

tummum- I seem to have the hungry unsettled baby this morning. Admitedly he slept in til 8.30 after feeds at 3, 5 and 6.45 but has not settled all morning until just now and is sleepy lightly on me which makes it difficult to know whether to move him or just sit here (i will need a wee soon so its good practice for my pelvic floor).

I was really chuffed to get S into his moses basket at 11pm last night and delighted to have the bed to myself but he woke at 12.10am so it was short-lived. But guess it is still progress...

OP posts:
pulapula · 22/05/2009 12:15

My weight is still coming down (thankfully)- now weigh the same as when i was about 21 weeks pg (11st 11) so lost nearly 2st since delivery but still about 1.5 stone to go til i reach my pre-pg weight.

I am craving quite healthy food at the moment (although also craving hearty food like pie, quiche) so eating quite well. But DH bought some toblerone yesterday which will no doubt be scoffed later.

DD is staying over with PIL tonight- she is getting on mine and DH's nerves with her constant whining, emotional outbursts and general silliness. They will take her to ballet in the morning (9am) which is a help too.

Here i am talking to myself lol. Can you tell i'm trapped on the sofa with a sleeping baby on my lap. DH has taken DS1 shopping/out for lunch and DD is at nursery til 1pm so we're home alone watching daytime TV...I'm bored.

Post-natal congrats to our new arrivals

Weight it took me a week - 10 days for my bump to go (there is an hilarious picture of me sitting on the hospital bed patting my huge (30wk size) belly and laughing, in an 'I ate all the pies' style ). Still got jelly belly & generally feeling rather hefty. Battery has gone in the scales which is probably a good thing. Anyway, I have made a start today by industriously scoffing all the junk food left in the house so I can't eat any more

lisa, thanks for the announcement. Congrats to both sausage and minimen! All best wishes for Martha getting stronger soon.

made it to playgroup fine. it actually went better than when I went from 1 to 2 babies. I think with DD1 being older and DD2 being more easy-going as well as DD1&2 playing together better has helped free me to pay more attention to DD3. we even arrived there earlier than we ever did when there were just 2 DD's.

re: unsettled baby, harper is a bit unsettled and I think it's a combination of getting used to the world so not really on a predictable routine (i'll give her a break, she's barely 3 weeks old ) as well as a dodgy tummy (or colic?).

speaking of unsettled, I hear a baby crying who may need a cuddle (twist my arm).
