Here's a nice new thread for us to share our experiences with our new LOs.

grumpy, do you have to wake up Sophia for her 11pm feed?

Harper had her last feed at 7pm and I want to go to bed but she's fast asleep. I usually fall asleep and let her wake me up but she doesn't wake me until about 3 or 4am so she's going about 8 hours without a feed.

i know some of you have said not to wake a sleeping baby and I'd agree but I'm feeling a bit insecure as it seems H doesn't feed as much as a lot of your babies. she's gaining weight but slowly (about 2/3 oz a week). she seems very healthy ... should I just stop analysing?

hope you guys aren't getting tired of my asking the same question.

Evening- I should be in bed, but i'm not, so you're probably all sound asleep.
The stupid hospital are messing me around, DP is getting really P.O and so am i, turns out I'm not on a waiting list for my operation, I'm on a waiting list to see a consultant who will decide if I need the op you'd think going in an ambulance twice in 2 weeks was enough evidence for them...the thing that's p*** us off the most is my consultant appointment isn't until 30th July!!! Then i'll have to go on a waiting list for the op, which will be around October in the meantime I'm back up to a+e everytime I'm in immense pain, where they pump me full of drugs and then send me back home again...and I'm supposed to do this until October!

Anyway, enough about me.

Blotted I hope youve managed to eat something.

We've worked out that Jacob normally has a feed at 5pm, so we keep him down with us, and then when he wants his next bottle, between 8pm and 9pm, we change him ready for bed, feed him, and then put him down in our room. The last 3 nights he's been down for 9pm. He then goes all the way till around 2am for a feed, goes straight back down again, and then wakes betwen 7am and 8am, so I'm happy with that

As you know I had to stop BF him, am I the only one using formula?

Jael X

Hi Jael, i'm awake as well. just considering whether or not to wake Harper up for a feed but i think i'll let her sleep.

I can't believe all the trouble you have and can't imagine how you'll cope waiting for an op in October . is the only hope a cancellation? maybe when you see the consultant you will get bumped up the list [hopeful emoticon]? anyway, hope you're resting well and think i'll try to go to sleep soon.

i must be crazy staying awake when baby is sound asleep .

And me, I keep thinking, he's been asleep since 9, I could have been too!lol hmm...I have to admit, before we started with this new routine, I did wake Jacob up a couple of times, to "top him up" before I went to bed...

momi am no expert but my mw said not to wake A up for food but let her demand it for herself. She hasn't slept for more than 4 hrs tho.

Jael sorry you are being so messed around did yr gp have any luck pushing yr op? Maybe go back to them and ask if they can push again? Can your hv helpat all? I woner if more than one health professional can get behind your case it might get you bumped up the list?

Jael - I'm angry and frustrated for you. No way you should have to wait til October!!! I think you are doing amazingly well with everything that's been thrown at you.

It was really hot here this afternoon too. I was also really tired so came to bed with O at 8.30! Woke up briefly when DH came to bed at 10.20 but otherwise slept well until usual 3am wake up, change and feed. Feel better for it even at 3.20am!!

Hope everyone else is having good nights.

Hi. 8am and still in bed!
Harper is feeding (was up at 330 and 6am) and i now hear dd2 singing Happy Birthday to herself though her bday is in aug.

Hope everyone got good sleep last night in the end.

really weird question alert: anyone notice a stunt in hair growth? i haven't had to shave under my arms for a week, doesn't seem to be growing. isn't that odd? i was just wondering if it's a post pregnancy thing.

i need to wake up dh for a cup of coffee!

looks like it may be a nice day again. hope all are well.

momino yes I've noticed that too, had it during pregnancy too though. Unfortunately my greasy hair is coming back (yuk) - I used to wash my hair every other day but during pregnancy got away with 3 or 4 days. I was trying to keep to 3 days but it was horrid yesterday. Oh btw you were asking about honeycomb icecream? it's Kelly's of Cornwall, currently half price in Tesco

Jael you poor thing! I hate that about the health service systems, when you get an appointment you think is to sort something out and it's just to get you into their system

Grumpy H is regularly going for one 4-6 hour stretch, but it's starting from 8-9pm, thereafter it's every 2 hours. Last night it was 8pm, 1.30am, 3.30am. 5.30am, 6.30am and I can hear him grumbling again

We really struggled to settle H last night. Tried all the 'tricks' - let him chew on my boob, putting on the shoulder/patting, rocking, walking... every time he dozed off, we put him in his basket and 5 mins later he was awake, really cross. In the end I put him on the playmat and he had a bit of an angry bat at a few toys then was out like a light! I feel like a bad mummy when I put him on his mat for a nap (it looks like I've left him there so long he's got fed up and gone to sleep!) but for some reason he dozes off and sleeps really well. I guess if it works I shouldn't knock it

Morning ladies and babies!

jael So sorry about what you are having to go through. You are doing such a good job though hanging in there. I would be PO too!!

feeding: Sara is also pretty good in the night. She will do one of two things. She will either cluster feed from 6:30 until 8:30 and then go in her own bed and wake once around 2am and then at 8am. OR (the one I hate) She will wake at 6:30pm and cluster feed and be unsettled until around 11pm or 12pm...but then she will sleep until 8am. Can I really complain? No...however she went to her bed at 8:00pm last night and it allowed me and DH to have a glass of wine and watch a movie together which was so nice and much needed fun together.

I have also never woken S for a feed. However, she was 6lb 5oz when she was born and at 4 weeks she is 9lbs! I am only BF too so I am shocked. I think if S was not gaining as fast I would be nervous too, however as most people have said if they are gainging (even slowly) and seem happy then I am sure they are fine

Had a great day yesterday. DD was so good with no time outs. FIL took her for 3 hours in the afternoon which was lovely. DH and I had a great night together too...feeling like I can do this.

hair growth Mine is doing the opposite and growing like crazy. I have been known to shave my arms in the morning and then again if I have a bath at night! I shaved my legs one day and the next day DH was teasing me that they were stubbly...grrr. I told him if I had more than 5 min to shower maybe I would shave them everyday lol That shut him up.

Got an interesting text last night. FIL who said he would never marry again text us last night to say he just got engaged to a woman he has been seeing since Oct. We are of course very happy for him...but very very shocked as he always, always talks to me about these things and he didn't at all...

Right DD is done with breakfast and needs to be cleaned and S just woke up...here we go!
