Here's a nice new thread for us to share our experiences with our new LOs.

Pula - thanks for the FB threads. The one with all our names, babies names is v useful!!

Momino - settling and smiling sounds good!! Thanks for sharing your experience of tongue tie - reassuring

Owen has actually had 3 decent 90 min+ sleeps today so I'm hoping that suggests a combination of him getting more satisfied now and heading towards being more settled as he's 5 weeks tomorrow.

2+1- wow a BFP and your DH has just had the snip. Fingers crossed its a sticky one, and well done you for getting pg so quickly under difficult circumstances! How does DH feel about it- I still "watch" the July 07 thread so post on there if you like.

Hi - just popping in quickly to say hi to everyone. No time or energy to name check (sorry- think the amnesty suggestion a good one btw). All ok, baby H has put on 9.5oz in the last week so is now well over his birth weight. He seems to be getting windy/vomity so HV recommended Infacol which I started tonight. Am paranoid it's the start of reflux - have to wait and see. So a bit worried about that. Fingers crossed.
Have had a ropey 24 hours with work issues (not what I need with a 3 wk old and a stroppy 2.5yr old to deal with) - there have been tears. I thought I'd avoided postnatal blues as been totally fine so far but this work stuff pushed me over the edge and I keep crying - feel a bit sorry for myself and tired too today. Like everyone I could do with a decent 8 hour sleep to start feeling human again.
Re: Lelli Kelli shoes - funny they've been mentioned on here as today DD2 (2) was being dreadful and I promised her if she behaved herself she could get some Lelli Kellis - she's been watching the tv ad and keeps on about them. (and she needs some summer shoes). So, boo it looks like I'll be throwing away £40 on spangly sandals this weekend (rubbish mummy emoticon). I must say she is bizarrely OBSESSED by shoes at the mo. She wears her big sisters party shoes in bed every night and if I take them off her she screams (bizarre child).
Anyway will catch up properly soon. Hope everyone is ok.

Well after 2 nights glued to the sofa/bed for 3 hour feeding marathons (7-10pm), its nice that S had a quick feed and fell asleep at 8pm tonight so i am not so knackered - although i may regret it later if he decides he needs to fill up then instead . we will see.

Hey everyone! Am just going back to check the posts from this week, I've been quite overwhelmed with how much I need to do of a day with a new baby so my internetting has been sporadic at best!

Jenn I have a cold too It's rubbish isn't it?

Red books - We don't get them in our local authority! They're so cheap here we get a crappy notebook thing instead with no charts. I'm going to ask a HV friend from another health authority to grab one for me.

Choc Well done on Corey's birth!

Ahahahaha! Hubby just came in carrying Erica by the ankles, she's shrieking in delight. I love the weekend when hubby is around because he's so much more hands on with the playing

Anyone else got massive bajongas? I bought a new dress on Thursday for my school reunion, makes my waist look tiny and my boobs look huge! Well... my huge boobs make my boobs look huge but you know what I mean ;)

blotted yes.. my norks are stupidly mahoosive atm. I'm surprised the extra weight at the front isn't toppling me over! lol i've been wearing my bf vest tops with built in support.. should try on my bf bras but not sure if i'm brave enough to see if they'll fit. if they're too small i'll have to get bras made or altered as i don't think they make m or n cup bras!

my red book is an old one.. they're still using them up..

pulapula · 13/06/2009 12:01

I don't have the big boobs thing - mine are 36C/D at the moment which probably means they will be back to 36A at the end of BF again .

Turns out my SIL went into hospital on Weds with signs of PE so was induced after her BP didn't come down, and ended up having an EMCS. Only got these details via my mum, but I know my SIL didn't want it to go to CS as she was told she'd have to have it under GA as a spinal would be too tricky as she broke her back when she was younger just in the place where they need to insert the spinal. Hope she's OK. Ooh think i will go off and search the net for some cute baby gifts and flowers! S is so much more settled again, and is sleeping in his basket upstairs- not what i was expecting, as we should be heading over the peaks to manchester for a party this afternoon, but don't like to wake him til he's due a feed.

pula - glad S is settled. O is asleep in his sling on me atm.

DH and I have managed to upset eachother this morning. We've had a family cuddle with O so think we're back on track.

SIL in Ireland sent me a text asking if I'd consider mixed feeding with formula to get O's weight up. I wanted to scream but now I'm left wondering if my milk just isn't enough.

Report
pulapula · 13/06/2009 13:37

ses- i would wait a bit longer before deciding about introducing formula if you are not keen - it could be that the tongue-tie snip has made a difference. Plus when you expressed the other day you got a good amount out. If you are worried about supply, try fenugreek- its amazing stuff!

Thanks Pula
I just don't want to be pig headed about BF if it's not in O's best interests. Definitely continuing for the moment though and in fact he's having a good feed now
I have some fenugreek but don't think I've ever taken enough - only 3 or 4 caps a day. Will up it and tough if I end up smelling!!

Hi all, hope everyone's having a good day. i'm having Quiet time with DD1 watching big cook/little cook (annoying program but she likes it).

Ses, do what you feel is best but be sure you don't feel bullied by anyone to do anything against your wishes. when DD1 was underweight, i felt insecure about my BF and gave her a bottle of formula after GP strongly 'suggested'. i stopped afer a week and went back to BF where she still gained slowly but surely. and now, I have a huge 3 year old sat on my lap .

dd3 is gaining slowly (5 oz in 2 weeks) which made me worry that i'm not BF correctly , or i'm not giving enough but most people have said that maybe dd3 (like her sistes) is finding her own centile to follow. anyway, she's sleeping and healthy but for a snuffly nose so must assume we're doing the right thing.

Hello all.

I know I will now be the most hated person on this thread but...........Sophia only has 1 feed during the night. She tanks up on cluster feeds during the day and has a last feed at 11/12 at night, then I only have to get up at 3 or 4 to feed her. She then sleeps through to 7.30/8ish. I actually got concerned that she wasn't feeding enough, but she feeds so much during the day (I basically sit with my norks out all day). She also sleeps like a dream. I have to wake her up sometimes.

I feel this is my reward for the 3.5 years of hideously broken sleep I got with DD2

Sophia is a dream of a baby. I'm sure things will change, she's only 9 days old. She's a dream feeder as well, just latches on and goes for it.

It's been a good start. You may kick me now.

grumpy lol

Actually Sam isnt too bad at night - he does feed twice in the night, maybe 1 and 5 if he goes down at 10, or 3 and 6 if he goes down at midnight. I don't mind the nights, its the days with 3 children that are hard!

I got a miracle blanket from ebay today on the recommendation of Jennster as S often wriggles out of his makeshift sheet swaddle so i will see if this helps him sleep longer (although think the wriggling is often when he's hungry and wants to chew on his hands...)

Greer's in a similar routine to Sophia, I can barely get her off me during the afternoon and evening but I'm only up with her at around 4am for a half hour.

Ses I bfed my last daughter until she was 9 months despite her not gaining weight and being referred to hospital for all kinds of tests. She is also massive now at two years old - there are other markers for progress. If baby is happy, alert, hitting development milestones and peeing/pooing lots then the lack of weight gain isn't as serious as you might think right now.

Thanks for continued support and encouragement.

Blotted - Owen is more than ok in every other respect. People comment unprompted on how alert he is. Yesterday he turned his head when lying down from one side to the other following the light from my phone and he focusses well on people close by and reflections.

Am going to persevere.

Feeling really tired tonight though so O and I have come to bed for an early lie down.

I'm pretty pissed off tonight.

Greer was born on May 17th and I haven't done a shop since a good couple of weeks before I had her. We have absolutely no food in right now and I'm starving. DH hasn't thought to pick up shopping on his way home from work (which brings him past a supermarket) but for me to go I'd need to take four kids with me.

I'm so hungry.

Blotted hope you've got some food by now

Am hoping tonight will follow grumpy and blotted's good lo's as A has fed pretty much all pm and eve so hopefully will sleep well after this top up. We went into town this am and I fed her in john lewis cafe... Despite v loud tutting from some old biddy who nudged her dh and made him turn round for a look, I felt v proud of myself

Anyone else absolutely boiling? I reckon its about 25 here!!
