Here's a nice new thread for us to share our experiences with our new LOs.

gert- you are lucky that E doesn't need winding. If i put S straight down, he starts pulling his knees up and screwing his face up and crying. I lift him up and he burps and quite often then wakes up (hence my difficulties getting him to sleep on his own). What i don't understand though is that i feed him in the bed lying down and then we both fall asleep and there's no problems with wind then .

Same here pulapula I wonder why that is?

I've just finished cleaning and was all set to do my Davina workout when G woke up for a feed. Sod and his law again!

frazzledoldbag · 26/05/2009 15:31

Hi - just a very quickie while H is sleeping and before school run.
detsy I have thrush too and have been prescribed the Cansesten pessary and cream - haven't used it yet as told me to wait a couple of days until bleeding settles right down. I wanted some Fluconozole or whatever it's called but apparently it's not licensed for b/feeding in the country. I did wonder what a song bird fanjo was - assumed you just meant it was stinging (?!) from the stitches. Duh. No brain cells left and lack of sleep means I'm a bit dim these days.

I also had a disturbed night - not by baby H who slept like an angel and only woke once for food at 4am - it was DD2 who woke screaming in the night then again at 6am when she had a tantrum and could only be placated by Peppa Pig and a bowl of porridge. Baby H didn't wake till 9am despite the racket. He's a star.

Have just uploaded some photos onto FB if anyone wants a wee look at him.

Will be back on later as am now totally out of touch with what is going on. Any new babies????????
grumpy how's it going? (or is the wrong thread) - see, I said I had no brain.
Byeeeeeeee x

frazzledoldbag · 26/05/2009 15:33

I meant b/feeding in THIS country - not b/feeding in the country (licensed in cities only). Oh dear.

Hi everyone,

Just met my new HV today. I had the same one with the other dcs, but this one is new. Don't know how useful she'll be yet. She just weighed and measures C, had a quick chat about cot death, car seats, baby clinic and services available at the children's centre and that was about it. I'm proud to say that C is now 10lbs 2oz at 15 days It always makes you so proud knowing that all that growth is down to your very own milk. Apparently C is tall too 56cm.

Right, trying to catch up now. Didn't get a chance to get back on MN yesterday after my spending spree (£160 on clothes for me and C )

bottles for bf baby Right, from my own experience I'd say that most babies will switch between bottle and breast if the bottle is introduced early enough. However saying that there are the odd stubborn ones (like my dd1) who'll refuse bottles even at this early stage. If your baby does take the bottle, do remember to give one regularly or he'll forget how to drink from a bottle (like ds). Even though I do have bottles, I'm not sure I'll give one this time, as last 2 times it was more of a hassle than a help.

wind C's not v good at bringing it up and has a colicky time early afternoon for some reason. She does do some good farts though, so I suppose her wind does come out some way or another!

pula C is getting better at being put down. But for some reason she's always unsettled at dinner time (evening), so I haven't eaten dinner in 2 weeks now without a baby on my lap! I think C is getting better because I'm starting to 'force' her to be put down and cry a little so I can get on with things (never for very long). Now I'm not picking her up as soon as she starts crying she's slowly starting to settle for longer periods. Rocking the pram is starting to work a bit better too.
llare What's the davina work out called? I want to get something to get back into shape.

blotted good news on the poo! Hopefully it'll go normally from now on. I haven't seen your dh's blog yet, but will have a look at it soon. I'm also feeling brave and i'm going to try one of those cakes everyone was raving about from your blog. I'll do it with the dcs now it's half term to keep them occupied

Belgianchocolates · 26/05/2009 15:39

lol frazzled. We knew what you meant!

thrush to any one who gets thrush easily. Use Lactacyd Femina wash, it's supposed to restore your natural ph balance down there. I've used it for years and years and years and find it really helps keeping thrush in check. If I don't use it for a while for some reason or another I get thrush again. You can only get it from a chemist though and it's never where I think they keep it, i.e. not with the intemate washes IYKWIM.

pulapula · 26/05/2009 15:56

belgian- yes i think S is getting a bit better too at being put down. He will sit in his bouncy chair for a bit (up to 30 mins) and at other times i use the sling if i need to get on with things. I know its not advised but we left him in his car seat today after he fell asleep and he had a good nap which was great. He's asleep on me now, so i will be trying to transfer him shortly...

OP posts:
Belgianchocolates · 26/05/2009 16:00

pula C likes the bouncy chair too, but only for10-15min. I think she's quite nosey and loves looking around when she's awake. That's why she doesn't like her pram I think. On the other hand she's rubbish at going to sleep, but as I said, getting better.

I saw the F/B announcement too, but can't think who it is. She's not on the name list as far as I can see.

Blottedcopybook · 26/05/2009 16:01

Midwife has just discharged us - Greer's gained 10oz since Thursday so she's up to 7lb13oz from her birthweight of 7lb11oz. I'm so proud

pulapula · 26/05/2009 16:01

belgian- glad that C is gaining weight well. S had lost 3oz by day 8 (down to 8lb) but i am hoping he will be some way above his birthweight tomorrow (day 15). He certainly has filled out on his face and is taking on plenty of milk. I am amazed how much he wees and poos too!

Jennster · 26/05/2009 16:10

detsy Think trying to get a dr to prescribe diflucan off-license is going to be difficult. What about Canesten Internal cream. You insert it like a pesary, but will be more comfotable than the pessary as it 'makes it's way out' iykwim.

runningmonkey · 26/05/2009 16:28

Just sneaking in to say hello to you ladies with lo's. Hope all is going well

[running monkey sneaks back of to antenatal land emoticon]

Belgianchocolates · 26/05/2009 16:32

pula on day 5 C had lost 8oz (down to 9lb2), so I'm sure S will be well above has bw now!

blotted Nice to hear G is gaining weight too

runningm See you on here soon

OK, gotta go and sort out a screaming baby

Tummum · 26/05/2009 17:00

Hello everyone. Feeling a bit here as just heard that a good friend had mc today after ttc for 2 years. Rubbish.

Am of those that can put LOs down for more than 2 minutes, which is as long as G lasts. Although, to blance it out he is good at sleeping and will sleep in moses basket so can't complain.

DC are watching Nemo as half term sanity saver b4 bedtime !

Boobs required... gotta dash

llareggub · 26/05/2009 17:08

Belgian I'm doing the Davina post-natal workout. It isn't overly energetic so I am doing it in conjunction with my wii fit, so usually do the DVD first as a warm up, then the aerobic exercises on the wii. Today I went for a jog around an island. Since we bought the wii 2 weeks ago I've lost 4 pounds and have had lots of fun hula hooping, stepping, jogging, skiing, and lots more...

Belgianchocolates · 26/05/2009 18:35

llare of your wii fit. Seems like so much fun.

I'm the biggest I've ever been after a baby. Am v. of all of you who can already fit in pre-baby clothes, even the larger ones. My own big jeans are still way too small. I seem to be a 14-16 at the moment. I'm normally a 10-12.

fi I had a post baby belly comment too. Last mon I went to the beauticians to have my eye brows done and she asked me how much longer I had left to go. C was already a week old at that point I know I'm not as slim as I used to be, but my belly really wasn't that big anymore!

Gotta go. C wants food NOW!

pulapula · 26/05/2009 20:11

belgian- My rapid weight loss has ended so i am now stable at 11st11 compared to my pre-pg weight of 10st4. I can't get my rings on my fingers and still in mat jeans .

However, on a positive note, S is asleep in his moses basket and we've had a good day- i think it has helped that he has had good feeds every 3-4 hours rather than snacking every 2. Oh, he's a bit restless- let's hope he stays asleep!

OP posts:
Belgianchocolates · 26/05/2009 20:24

pula Same here with the rings and jeans. I managed to gain weight over the weekend C has gotten herself overtired yet again. She ends up screaming, no matter where she is, until she finally just conks out. Which is just about 5 min ago in my arms. I'll attempt to put her in her pram in a min. Fingers crossed I'll get a quiet hour on my own

real nappies When are you who are going to use reusable nappies going to start? My last pack of disposables is about finished, so I'm thinking about making the transition this week. Better have a look at that nappy auction site for some extra wraps and liners.

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 26/05/2009 20:53

Grr just wrote a long post and I moved my arm and it disappeared.

Anyway am still here although I think its been a week since last post.

Just trying to catch up with the thread so will be back later.

Belgianchocolates · 26/05/2009 20:59

Ho ladyh I did the same the other day.

C woke up. So far for my peaceful hour

Belgianchocolates · 26/05/2009 21:00

I meant Hi ladyh, not ho. Sounds like santa!

Belgianchocolates · 26/05/2009 21:01

C's asleep again. Shall I dare to get up, get a glass of wine and relax in front of the telly?

pulapula · 26/05/2009 21:17

belgian- hope you got your glass of wine. S is just waking up after 1.5 hours in the moses basket which wasn't bad. Just hope i can get him back in it again after his feed.

OP posts:
Momino · 26/05/2009 21:32

belgian, great idea, I'm doing just that. Hope you're now relaxing with a glass of wine.

pula, how's it going today?

we had a pretty good day. didn't do anything this morning. all i did was feed baby and let DD1&2 play on their own. this afternoon we went to the park with a friend and her baby so got back a bit too late for supper and I missed the window so had 3 whingeing, yelling, loud children. somehow, I got them fed, bathed, hair washed, nursery bags packed for the older ones, and in bed by 8.00. i'm still sane but happier for this glass of wine. poor Harper was the one who was left crying most of the time as i knew she was crying out of tiredness and needed to settle down. i felt really guilty for her crying but was never going to get the older 2 in bed otherwise.

anyway, all is peaceful and i'm going to relax before i go tidy up the kitchen.

Hope all are well tonight.

Momino · 26/05/2009 21:36

pula you don't have to answer my question - you've already posted how your day has been (need to review properly before I post ). glad you felt better today.
