Myjob what did the GP say yesterday? Is it a viral thing?

loulou33 · 23/05/2009 20:16

Myjob - how long has n been ill now? It seems to have been a bad one for her, poor mite. Two of Joe's friends have upper respiratory tract infections (i think this is a posh namne for a cold isn't it?) and one parent called me today to tell me. She was worried as her dd had been playing at our house on Friday and did i want to sterilise all Joe's toys that her dd had played with? i thanked her and decided against it, as i am far too lazy and think that if Joe was going to get it, it would be too late by now anyway. DS1 was supposed to play at friends house today but she is ill too - ds1 cried for ages about it ashe's very fond of her (note to Jenwa, yes boys cry at 3.5 years so i was wrong!!) Hoping that he will be able to go tomorrow

MM - DH want to try one of your cakes - ooh er missus??

Rhian82 · 23/05/2009 20:36

Hiya everyone!

DS seems to go straight from one illness to another, he's now on his fourth course of antibiotics in his short little life! Saw the doctor this morning about his nappy rash as the skin was really broken and sore, and not improving. Also the eczema on his face and hands had got worse, and had erupted into spots. She said it could be thrush or a skin infection, so we're treating both and hopefully he'll get better! Had some nappy-off time today which I think helped (we never normally do that), at least until he pooed over everything!

Yay for better sleep CSWS. DS was really good Thursday night, then last night he woke about 3.30 and wouldn't settle again until I fed him at 4.45. I could stop him crying by stroking him in the cot, and he looked like he'd fallen asleep, but if I stopped he woke up and cried again within a couple of minutes.

I don't know why I didn't think of flan aubergenie, as I had a flan case (Asda ones are dairy free) in the cupboard already. All now made up with some fresh raspberries, and a pot of ice-cream to take too.

Had a lovely day at Wimpole. Will pop a few pics on fb later. Everyone late to bed though, as we didn't get home til bath time, and still had to have dinner! Ds went off without problem at 7:50 though .
Must go to bed earlier tonight to take advantage of opportunity for better sleep - was gone 11:30 before I went up last night.

Sorry my seemingly quick results have you doubting your own path though Aubergenie. I think that if I'd thought about it too much I'd have never done what I did, but a spur of the moment decision seems to have paid off.

Very sorry to hear that N is still poorly myjob. Was also wondering if we know what's actually wrong with her, or is it a nondescript virus?

Lentils are used chez CSWS to thicken stews and casseroles (along with pearl barley etc sometimes).

x post myjob. Slapped cheek can just seem like a cold at first, so do watch out for a rash and rosy cheeks.

myjob - 3-5 days in usual life span of cold before they start to get better i think...at least she's no worse though. Has her temperature come back down and stayed down for more than 12 hours? - if so i would say that the worst was over hopefully..... hope you all get some sleep tonight. i'm bracing myself for the inevitable that the boys get it as their friends have it - oh joy.

thanks for promoting me Aubergenie - i started the day as plain old loulou, then i was 'in-house sleep guru' and now Queen, i am chuffed. Today the Queen....tomorrow the world.....hahahahahaha

I'm not sure if there can be a gap in symptoms or not myjob. But whilst checking I did just learn that you can have sc without actually having the rash/rosy cheeks, so I expect it was that that ds had a few weeks ago - good news as it means that he won't get it again .

Hello! I haven't had a chance to catch up with everyone tonight but will have a read through later. We had a lovely day, but I am shattered! M was a very good girl all day but got fed up with being passed around. She started of ok with it but soon got really upset . Otherwise she was a star and caused no real fuss. What was very strange was her reaction to out friend's ds. He is a month younger than M and they were really interested in each other! She was stroking his hair and was stroking her arm. It was very cute. I have been a bit rubbish with photos as I kept having to rescue M. However there were loads of others taking pictures so I can get my hands on those a some point. M had some strawberries and some pasta at the after party thingy and the other mums were amazed that she wasn't choking on them (they all puree). Ollie read his speech and made most of the room tear up.

CSWS - Yay on the night sleep! Well done you and well done D. Love the baby carrier and D looks very happy in it.

Myjob - I hope now that her fever has broken, that N starts to feel better. Yes, it is so hard watching them suffering. Lots of lovely cuddles from mummy will help.

Loulou - Tell you DH that he is welcome to come and sample my wares but it would be one hell of a drive for a cupcake!!

Aubergenie - Are you still feel ill? That's no good. It's hard to know what to do when they're ill in relation to sleep isn't it? I always feel the need to make allowances when M is ill, but it is so draining. Hope you both get better soon so that you can start to work out a routine with S.

M slept like a dream last night, she went to sleep at 8 and slept until 12 then went through until.....6am! Only I didn't sleep as I woke up in loads of pain thinking that my cyst and twisted but after DH had called the dr, it calmed down. Thank goodness! The timing would have been terrible.

star6 · 23/05/2009 22:25

Q isn't sleeping well at ALL still. WHAT is going on?????? I had a one off ok night trying to persevere... just can't do it! Tonight he refused to feed even... well, he wanted to feed. He'd even latch on, then come RIGHT off and arch his back and scream. He calmed down when DH walked him around and played with him (at 8.30pm ). DH took him for a walk in the pushchair then came back and he woke upon getting out and still didn't feed. Screaming screaming. Finally fed but wouldn't go in cot. Has settled in our bed. DH on the sofa and I'll be going in with Q soon. What is wrong with me????? Why can't I get him to settle to sleep anymore!?!? Sorry I'm desperate.

Myjob - sorry to hear about N I hope she does better tonight... and I hope it's not slapped cheek.
Loulou - lol re: sterilizing everything...I'm such a nutter, I've sterilized Q's toys every day that he's had this horrid cold (for about 3 weeks now ). Maybe if I just leave them he'll get better!

Congrats on teh sleep csws. Can you please cocme over and do that to Q? PLEeeeeeeeeeeeeease?

star6 · 23/05/2009 22:27

MM xpost - glad the naming ceremony went well! I would be staring in awe at M not choking on that stuff, too

Star - Thank you. As I said before, you definitely don't want to come to watch M eat, you'd have a nervous breakdown! I generally let her get on with it she gags loads but hasn't choked thus far! It freaked my mum out though! I have no words of wisdom about the sleep I'm afraid. Maybe Queen Loulou can help

Rhian82 · 23/05/2009 23:55

Awww for the cute babies MM - the older babies in DS's nursery like to pat him on the head and say 'baby!'. I love that they recognise there's someone even smaller than them and find it cute!

jenwa · 24/05/2009 08:05

oh Star& what a nightmare. P did this arcing and screaming when she was very tired and confussed feeds with sleep. SHe would latch up then arch and squeel and eventually we realised it was more a comfort thing for sleep. Partly readson for bottle too as I wanted to see how much she had and then realised when she ahd taken all her bottle she could no longer be hungry. IS Q still having a dummy? Could you pasify him with that and then try to set a routine for bed time maybe? Try to give him his tea followed by bath then take him up to his bed and feed him and out him down so he gets used to that? Not sure if you are already doing it but maybe because he has been unsettled the routine has changed and he may need reminding??? The more worried you become the more you start to change things by taking him out in the pushchair and putting him in your bed and maybe it will confuss him and change his routine. It is sooo hard especially when you are tired and they are too. Hopefully you can sort it this week whilst you not working?

mm glad you had a lovely day and all went well.

myjob poor you and naomi.

loulou lol re your crown, hope you have kept it in a safe place and are polishing it well Windowlene makes it shine

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/05/2009 08:16

Is Q teething star?

D is on the move! Has woken up able to commando crawl. Nothing is safe any more!

Forgot to say about last night. Bed 7:50. Woke for feed 12:30. Woke and put on own music around 5:30. Awake just before 7:30.

Marthasmama · 24/05/2009 09:14

Great news on both fronts CSWS! M is still no where near on the move. Last night she went to bed at 8.30, fed at 12.30 then slept until 4.30, went back down until 6.30 then wanted a cuddle and went back to sleep on my shoulder until 7.30. It wasn't too bad a night. Hurrah! I'm sure it won't last......

aubergenie · 24/05/2009 12:14

Myjob - Sorry to hear N still not any better. Poor sausage.

MM- I'm so glad it all went well yesterday. at M showing off her eating skills. S is always fascinated by other babies too, it's so sweet isn't it.

Star - I feel your pain. I was a mess yesterday and dp and I were bickering all day. It was just horrible. Is Q unwell? Or, as someone already suggested, teething? I sent dp off to the sofa with some earplugs last night and brought S into the bed with me, just so we could all get some sleep. I realised by having him at such close quarters that S is still really snuffly and also very, very windy! He kept getting woken up by his incredible trumping bottom. Is anyone else finding this is an issue with their LO?

Anyway, having had some reasonable sleep last night and being in better humour, we got ourselves together and went to Columbia Road flower market really early this morning. Got some more plants and had a bagel in the sunshine. Lovely.

Marthasmama · 24/05/2009 12:22

Ha ha ha - Sorry Aubergenie, had to chuckle about S's trumps! He's such a boy isn't he? having said that, M is very farty, but being a lady she pretends not to notice and carries on sleeping. She is snuffly too and was snoring away on my shoulder this morning. M has been really grumpy today and a little bit warm (not taken her temperature as she's not burning, just a little warm) so I think it's her turn to come down with something. She just wants cuddles and milk, actually, mainly just milk.

Glad you had a better night, you really needed it!

Star - Has Q had a cold recently? Ear infections can make them grumpy when they try to feed as it affects the pressure in the ear drum. He would be giving you other signs though, like tugging his ear.

Marthasmama · 24/05/2009 16:42

Hrumph, clearly I am the only one sad dedicated enough to be on MN on a sunny day. I am not a fan of that big fiery yellow ball but clearly you are all.
