Evening. House internet has been done most of the day so forced to use blackberry exclusively ALL DAY LONG. That means no MN. Why is MN too much for my blackberry to handle! {{{SHOUTS LOUD ENOUGH FOR MN STAFF TO HEAR}}}

Off to catch up.....

TwilightSurfer · 22/05/2009 23:21

down not done

hotterpotter · 23/05/2009 07:13

Is it really only ten past seven???? Both DC up and causing havoc, I just want to go to sleep...

The last two nights DS has slept from 8pm until 6am The only trouble is he is wide awake then and will not be fed back to sleep so someone has to bring him downstairs so he doesn't wake DD. Still, it is progress

Miamla hope your DS has repeated his amazing sleep

Back in a bit, there are tears here ...

Why does 7 oclock feel so blimmin early? Both ds's up at 7, dh has just now surfaced timed perfectly for O going down for his nap (I must admit, I must admire dh's style even if it winds me up!)

Lovely day as promised so I intend to tackle Mount Washing Pile into submission. Wish me luck....

CaptainCaveman · 23/05/2009 09:42

VG pick me some lovely tat up from the fete?
Hope your head feels better soon

RedLentil · 23/05/2009 09:46

A rather dubious porridge made with orange juce today as there is only a smidge of milk left and we'll need that for the strong coffee.

DH is away marking A levels and just rang to say that it is a lovely spring day in London, his meeting will be finished before lunch and he has the afternoon to himself for pottering about.

Actually, I'm delighted for him as he needs a bit of time to himself. He is either teaching, academicking, marking or parenting at the mo and he needs chance to get his breath back before I fire the kids at him tomorrow morning.

DD2 said 'ta' a few times this morning when we were eating breakfast. Her desperation to gether hands on individual cheerios prompted the attempts at talking. The other two are in fine form also.

Though DD1 is going through that phase where everything has to rhyme and is saying 'thankyou, wankyou'

I must go and put on her pinky-winky tightsy-wightsys now. It may be a long day.

Ooh, forgot - it's me, Sibh, heavily disguised in one of the names on my 'need a new MN persona' list.

Great news on the sleep Hotter. Could you bung a few toys and books in the cot at six to string him out a bit.

Waves to Ann and Cyteen. Great to have you back.

Hello to everyone else too ..

Morning.
V tired here. Had great eve with miamla and mrmiamla with minimiamla sleeping v cutely in his carrier. But it meant bed didn't happen til way after midnight and although it was my turn of a lie in i couldn't blardy well get back off properly. Have a headache. Am sat here with vat of tea.

no1 I suspect the woman was spouting a load of crap about car seats. My dd who IS tall, and has always been very big (at 5 months we had to get a rearwards and forwards facing bigger car seat) stayed in hers until she was 3.8 when her head was slightly above the top of the car seat and I was swearing at the buckle every morning on the school run. I think the key fact is whether her head is still below the line of the seat. I know weight comes into it too but from what i recall (please don't let me be taling crap here) that is one of the things that will ensure it does it's job in the event of an accident.

sibh/redlentil bless dd2. aaaah. I've bought some cheerios for ds as he refuses to be spoon fed now, but not had a chance to try him with them yet as dh took both dc out for brekkie today while i had my unsuccessful lie in.

Taking dd to see Hannah Montana the movie later. am actually looking fwd to it. Also lookig forward to taking her out for lunch. Me living my life thinking about the next meal? never!

Morning all I've got you all beat, DS was awake at 5am this morning. Darling DP manned up and took him downstairs for a couple of hours, yay. DS back to bed at 8.30 and has only just woken up!

no1 I bow to your horse-sense, they're lovely creatures about which I know nothing. Would love to learn to ride one day...it's on my list alongside 'play cello' and 'rockclimbing' as one of those things I like to think I'll get around to

The great clearout continues here, lots of stuff going to better homes/the tip.

LOL at all the rudey DC chatter. My friend's little boy went through a phase of mispronouncing 'one car' which she and I found shamefully amusing.

Had a hilarious afternoon round at my friend's yesterday: four mums, three 11 month olds and Joe. The 11mos are so different to him - my friend's boy is a proper toddler now, was very to see him standing in his playpen and making mischief. He stole a crisp from another baby's mouth Glad it's not just mine that's food-obsessed!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 23/05/2009 15:02

pmsl at the dcs talk too, and vg also lol very loudly at option b.

cyteen cello is also on my list.
albs her head does come above the chair.
love the new name redlentil.
ds adores cheerios, he actually does mmmmmm noises when eating them. Although he prefers to feed them himself I think its probably the only food he will let me spoon feed shovell in him.

Had a wanky morning here. Got up to go out for 8.30 for when dh got in from nights. Not an easy task this morning.
decided to go get some clothes and shoes and bits for dcs for holiday and possibly some things for me. ds decided he would scream blue murder,it sounded that bad i scooped him out of pram and he just laughed and instantly stopped crying.
So I put him back in pram and gave him something to eat.
then he wailed again, everyone staring at me as I was trying to ignore him, didnt work so I just threw the pile of stuff i was going to buy on a shelf and walked out.
got some fresh air and tried another shop, then decided to go buy some lunch to eat outside, got to till and I had left my cards in my jeans pocket at home.
aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggggg
dd shouted snadwich all the way home.bless
so back home now dd asleep in bed,bit late but never mind. jeans in bedroom and dont want to disturb dh.
rant rant rant

LoveBuckets · 23/05/2009 15:27

Afternoon all, first time I've been able to get near a computer since Thursday, I have felt strange.

Bristol zoo was lovely, as was the company natch. I could quite happily live in Clifton if someone lent me the £million. I totally forgot about time and when I looked it was 3.30pm! Journey home was pretty horrendous, took 3hrs[forgot it was bank hol friday) and had to stuff Kurt with lumps of flapjack whilst driving. We all ended up having a sleepover at my mums and me and DH got to go up my old local pub (sadly dying, used to be overflowing on a Friday night.) Oh and me and the boys got sunburnt!

Back on later, Squirt just woke up.

pertelote · 23/05/2009 15:41

to those with crack-of-dawn babies. Ugh.

Oops what a pain to miss Bristol - hope DD is ok again today... just a good excuse to organise another meeting isn't it?!

Speaking of which Miamla I agree with ALBS re the undesirability of this week coming for a London meet, though for a much more selfish reason in that I am off on holiday again . It'll be a bit busy the week we get back (first week of June) but I'd love to try to get to a meet, 'specially if Steaky's still around...

With that I must run and finish packing, it's Paris for us in the morning, calloo callay! Will return next Sunday with exquisite little cakes and chewy bread with lashings of stinky cheese for you all (dieters, I will be walking everywhere and climbing four flights to the flat, so will have removed all calories from these goodies before distributing). Good luck for a good week, especially those of you with big kids on holidays...

Have a lovely time Pertelote. It must be so good not to have worry about your little girl hanging over this part of your mat leave.

Sympathy on the left at home card No1. That is a nightmare.

What did you get for us at the fair VG? The old ladies around here are more likely to start exclaiming to God, or to go into raptures about 'his faisheen' (her face) [gri]

I took the DC to the library today. For some reason I've left DH to do this with the older two so far as it seemed impossible with 3. But DS and DD1 were lovely and DD2 contented herself with walking around the edges of the boxes in the middle of the room.

Then we had a sandwich in the lovely organic cafe in town. DD2 was much taken with falafel. The older ones are alternately being adorable and squabbling while drawing a monster on a huge piece of paper. We're going to hang it up to scare DH when he gets back tonight.

He managed to find me some long-sleeve white T-shirts for the girls in H&M that I can put on them under their summer t-shirts so full marks to him for that. He's sitting on the tube now reading The Color Purple which is on an exam he's marking next week.

All much better than Thursday morning when the person having the toddler tantrumcrying and shouting 'I want to go back to bed' and 'I don't want to spend the day with them because they are being mean to me'was me.

When we came out of the cafe today I was explaining to DS that I don't often take them there because that's daddy's treat and time for me to have a break (not that I can remember the break bit happening for a while). Anyway, he said 'But if you came here on your own you would be lonely. Its much funner for you to have us with you when you do nice stuff'

I need to hold that thought ...

The BBQ sounds nice Sazzles. To top the day off, DS just made DD1 give me three cheers for giving them such a fab day. I am feeling the love, most definitely

I'm thinking about namechanging because I keep recommending the site to people and Sibh is a name I use in real life too. I'd rather be a bit incognito ... I'm spending a rather pathetic amount of time thinking about new names, so all suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Buckets - glad the zoo visit was such a success, but the journey home sounds a bit tricky. How is DS1 getting on with the pants since his success at playschool?

VG- a great raffle win there. I will, I suspect, be curling up with DH in front of Tubridy Tonight. [tragic emoticon]

I heard on a trailer that Spandau Ballet are on. My least successful romance ever was based on the fact that the fule in question looked very like Tony Hadley

LoveBuckets · 23/05/2009 18:56

Hi Sibh, sounds like a good day you had. Libraries were always our haven when DS1 was little - always had to plan somewhere to let him 'off the lead' whenever we went out. Since they all have signs saying 'Libraries love babies' everywhere, I figured they couldn't say no to bouncy boys making very loud but happy noises.

Toilet training is going amazingly well, he wore the same dry nappy all day yesterday (despite long car journeys)and all night too (even bigger ). Today's pants took a bit of an accident but otherwise, he seems to be buying into the whole idea.

No1 Horrid horrid day for you, you must have wanted to just leave the kids in the shop too. Perfect excuse for pizza delivery tonight IMO if DH is out again. Bet he'd be well-chuffed with cold pizza for breakfast.
