thing is vg i know I am using food as a crutch for something or other . The most excitement-inducing time of my week/fortnight/whatever is when it's takeaway time .

dizzydixies · 18/05/2009 13:45

gah missed all the VG chat

Dylan will not be put down today, horribly red cheek and dribble has prompted a dose of calpol and fingers crossed for a nap I have SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much to do today and the supermarket shop with sobbing child attached to hip was hard enough

DH getting home early from court but apparently going on a quiz night tonight (was only told this yesterday so apologies if I'm repeating myself) so we'll see how much happy families going on here today

where is No1 this weather?

dizzydixies · 18/05/2009 13:45

ALBS food is my crutch for everything

LoveBuckets · 18/05/2009 14:30

PMSL Miamla at dancing DJ baby. I too had a fab shag last night, one of those like you get on telly when you just see people's heads hitting the pillow looking astounded and puffed out LOL. My goodness my DH is well trained.

VG You've kept that up for 15 days??? Well done you, that's got to be so hard when you're cooking for everyone else.

Speaking of cake, I tried Dizzy's Red Velvet cupcakes and OMG they are so light, moist and flat (as per active thread on MN homepage!) and they freeze and defrost perfectly even in paper cases. I am so impressed. I'm now off to clean my worktop for once so I can make quiche for tea.

oopsacoconut · 18/05/2009 15:53

hi all

excuse no caps but dd feeding.

we have been out to meet a new baby poppy today she was very cute but enormous she weighs almost the same as dd and is 7 weeks!

VG I am very impressed by your diet, I just have NO self control.

my wondrful DH took dd this morning at 7 am and old me to go back to bed as i looked tired. he was fab but he didn't tell me he forgot to feed dd her breakfast so at 10am she was stroppy and i couldn't figure out why until she tried to eat me through my t-shirt.

Miamla - how were your doctors appointments?

Dizzy hope DD has clamed down and is now put downable.

lwfh · 18/05/2009 16:39

Hello everyone, thanks for all the good thoughts, especially for the flight. Journey was OK, and it's lovely being at home now. Am feeling a bit rested, which is nice. And isn't pre-prepared baby food great? I am holiday so it is completely guilt free, and there is so much choice in the supermarket ...

But basically I am here to ask for some advice(!) ... a small yet classy present for a baby boy (about £20)? Any thoughts?

I hope that everyone is doing OK

lwfh · 18/05/2009 18:01

oooooohhhh ... I think that we will go with something from here

What happened with MN on Sunday? I attempted to log in but it was down and I didn't break it.

Our whole house went to bed at 8:30pm on Saturday evening and not one of us got out of bed "officially" until 8:30am Sunday morning. DH got a little frisky with me while the girls were snoring but no risky business iykwim (mid-cycle so careful careful). After I did sprints (which I found out later was a bad idea..ouch) we went to the Chattanooga Market. All the local farmers and artists bring their goods there to sell on Sundays. It was STRAWBERRY day and we got lucky. We missed the first strawberry delivery but got a basket off the second (and last) truck. The market opened at 11 and all the strawberries were sold by 11:45.

While there we bumped into the doctor who delievered Reese. I did a 180 then a 360 then another 180 trying to avoid him but ended up turning around and being face to face with him in the end. He was strolling his son (born May2008). I was like a deer in headlights. I said hi and oh he's cute then walked on. His wife was soooo not what I expected. Can't believe it's been 9 months and I still have issues although boxed up nicely as long as they are not disturbed. DH said he expected no less as it was quite an ordeal for me.

Today was DD1's last day of preschool. I got choked up as we were loading the car after the party. We drove home in silence. He baby school days are over. I remember sitting in the truck for the entire class time when she first started. I sat there just in case she needed me. She didn't. Now she's completed 3 years of school.

Reese is 9 months old today!! She's so awesome. Talking, waving, crawling, standing, the walking bit is only a few short days away I believe.

I'll find time later to catch up.
(((hugs))) to all.

they're not nice VG, you wouldn't like them

DH and dfriend built Dylan's wardrobe before heading out without dinner so goodness only know what state he's going to come home in

TS market sounds lovely. I know how you feel about the whole school thing though, I cannot believe that DD1 is almost at the end of her Primary 1 year and had her class photo taken on Fri because they'll all get shuffled about next year

LWFH you can pick up nice grobags in TK Maxx if that helps?

dizzydixies · 18/05/2009 21:52

oh and I finally relented and gave Dylan some calpol, wee soul. I don't know why I hold back on meds when she's so obviously bothered

have made a batch of hummingbird cakes to take to the cafe tomorrow, iced and decorated to - the last lot of cakes didn't make it as I had the day from hell and they've been slowly nibbled away at by friends/neighbours etc ever since
this lot look really pretty even if I say so myself

TS what an emotional rollercoaster. Well done for making polite chitchat with the doc! You deserved those strawberries, yum yum. We are just getting local ones here too, love 'em.

Hope the calpol is working its magic for Dylan, dizzy, and you are resting under the weight of your FBG crown

Sazzles thanks for asking... last night half and half. Got up for the first feed so got her back in the cot ok, but I haven't actually changed anything here (my cot it has 3 corners sides) so when she woke around 3am she just crawled over and helped herself! So from that point she was jammed up against me for the rest of the night as usual. Thing is that that way DH doesn't get woken which he does if I get up... I don't know. The only reason I want to change anything is in case it gets her sleeping through. If you can persuade me that these things are the luck of the draw I'll probably be quite content with the snuggly status quo.

Sibh · 18/05/2009 22:18

Dizzy, I meant to tell you.
DD1 wants a hummingbird for a pet.

The decision has been reached by after endless in-car conversations that go:

'Mommy, do koalas do poos?'
'Yes.'
'Oh dear.'
'Mommy, do giraffes do poos?' etc

We can't prove that hummingbirds poo to her satisfaction and so they are in.

ALBS i HATE party bags. Most often they are filled with cheap junk that either makes a mess or breaks as soon as my kid touches it. Gift giving has gone too far where gift bags are concerned. Isn't being invited to an excellent party ENOUGH? Why would anyone expect more than good company and possibly good eats??? I'm sure your party was excellent WITHOUT gift bags!!

Miamla thanks for the party rings link....twas not what I thought...good to know.

Sazzles your morning tactics with Emma sound like mine with Reese. It's all about ME in the mornings these days.

okay that took two hours i think...........
