Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

DS4 has started to talk more in the last couple of weeks, and is copying words more - doesn't put words together (except Oh No! and Oh dear!) and has never yet said Mummy, but he's getting there...I'm not too concerned really. He seems babyish compared to others his age but I dunno, hard to remember what the others were like at the same age. He's a happy little boy.

I lost my baby 5 weeks ago at 18 weeks, so he may yet stay the youngest in the family...he's still adored by his siblings especially the teenagers, so can't ask for more than that really.

Hope you're all enjoying your 2 year olds. Sarah, hope Elliot has fitted in nicely to your family and glad Rosie is out of the cast.

lljkk · 29/04/2010 18:50

Sorry to hear about the m/c, JennycomeLately. That's awful. How are you doing with the physical recovery?

I know what I was going to rant about, lol.

They measured DS height with shoes off (fine).
They measured his weight with clothes on -- fine, really, I didn't want to undress him.
BUT then they record it in his book like it's a solid fact... I weighed his clothes and nappy up today and they come to about 600g -- so although he was recorded as 11.7kg he's really 11.1kg.

Using 11.1kg his weight doesn't look so mismatched with his height (from 25th to 9th percentile).

Not very scientific, is it?!

jennycomelately · 30/04/2010 16:17

I'm doing ok, thanks, still a bit anaemic I think but getting there....mentally not so good, and wondering if I'll try again at some point or would I be too stressed about it going wrong again

snowflakesarahandco · 02/05/2010 08:19

jenny so sorry to hear of you Mc hope you and your family are all ok, xxxx

lljkk- its very odd how these hv do these checks etc- not scientific at all are they

alkar · 04/05/2010 21:21

So sorry to hear about your mc Jenny, hope you are doing ok.

Not been on here for ages kind of gave up as it was only sarah and I now see her on fb all the time!!

Does everyone get a 2 year check? Don't think we get one til 2 1/2 here. DS seems bang on targets for everything though although he never walks anywhere he always runs. Its very hard going out with him I have to jog to keep up. I used to be a sprinter in my teens so I guess thats where he gets it from.

I took DS to water babies last tuesday and a kid there had chicken pox. The spots came out 3 days before and the dad said he was fine to swim. I now think DS has it. He's been very grumpy the past couple of days and saw about 10 spots on him this evening. I'm so mad, I know they all get it but thats so irresponsible, and to top it off its the waterbabies owners kid

snowflakesarahandco · 05/05/2010 10:07

alkar thats really bad!!!! how selfish of the parents! although i am glad we had it here its not something i would have wanted my kiddies to be around!

this thread is so quiet where is everyone!

thanks goodness for face book alkar!

alkar · 05/05/2010 14:22

I know its a shame really, we used to be so chatty on here.

Doc says it doesn't look like cp but give it a couple of days and she said to take him to nursery so I did!

Just been on a run - did 3.4 miles. Doing race for life on the 16th so have been trying to train. Got a lemon cake in the oven now though so its no wonder I'm not losing any weight

snowflakesarahandco · 06/05/2010 08:47

wd on the running Alkar, the 16th is Elliotts christening too!!! cannot wait

mmmmmm lemon cake sounds delish!¬

alkar · 06/05/2010 10:58

Its chicken pox!!

lljkk · 07/05/2010 19:43

Oh good luck, Alkar, DS was really poorly with it last year. High fever and very very itchy. I found Piriton syrup invaluable for him at the time.

He varies between Darling Little Angel and Devil Child at the moment, btw!! Becoming very bolshy whingy whining pushy demanding loud vocal opinionated fussy stroppy assertive.

snowflakesarahandco · 14/05/2010 21:05

Alkar- how is daniel doing now?

lljkk · 17/05/2010 11:31

Probably recovered by now, lol.
Come on ladies, let's pull our bootstraps up, get chatting!?

DS is saying a couple of new words a week now, nice to see him progress. But I think toilet training is a no hoper for a while -- he's going to be my latest to toilet train at this rate.

We have Cbeebies on today (another DS is at home ill), and 2yo DS is in love with our new 32" telly -- He's not used to TV in daytime, either!

snowflakesarahandco · 17/05/2010 13:55

lljkk-awww hope youmpoorly ds is well again soon!

i have a real chatter box here she never ever stops!!!! people presume she is so much older!

had DS christened yesterday and we all had a fab time, was so lovely to get all our loved ones together! at 12 weeks he was just happy to be passed around for cuddles! lol

Bessie123 · 25/05/2010 15:24

I've found you again

Alkar that is terrible about the chicken pox, I hope you've complained a LOT to the waterbabies guy.

lljkk · 25/05/2010 19:21

Well, I have been out-tantrummed.
Although I didn't tantrum, but I let DS win by throwing a Mother of One.

After 45 minutes of hysterical screaming because he wanted buttered bread for tea and not mash and veg, I gave in.

I reckon twas the worst tantrum any of my lot have ever produced. He was doing this kind of stand-1-2 steps-stagger-throw self at ground thing repeatedly (amidst the screaming).

So I gave in; must remember that it's never possible to convince a 2yo to be rational.

Poor chap is going to fall asleep early, though.

Bessie123 · 26/05/2010 13:15

ah, I know it's not like that when you're the one who has to deal with it but it sounds v cute.

lljkk · 28/05/2010 14:28

aack! Just found DS with a terrible gash on back of his head -- I know exactly when and even almost exactly how it happened; I was there instantly when he cried and he pointed at the rock that he fell on, but I didn't realise for about 25 minutes exactly where on his body the rock impacted.

Quite bloody and ugly looking, but in the midst of his hair (now nicely matted with blood). And it obviously didn't bleed a huge amount and stopped bleeding itself and he didn't pass out and he was fine within a minute ... so I don't see the point of taking him to be seen or to have it steri-stripped.

(Just reassuring myself for umpteen time there's no reason to take him to a clinic)

But I feel bad that I didn't notice sooner.

Bessie123 · 01/06/2010 16:03

lljkk how is your ds today?

lljkk · 02/06/2010 17:07

Oh he's fine, thanks for asking! They heal so fast at this age, it's like a miracle. You can almost not see it any more, already.

He's starting saying Juice lately (bit obsessed with asking for it, it sounds like "Doosch", but he's working on improving it), and I guess he's pretty much onto 2 word phrases, even if it is "Meh Ball!" -- as in, "Mum, get my ball for me!!" Getting, er, very assertive over all.

We are minding friends' guinea pigs and he keeps letting them out (sigh). Our garden is not that secure, either, AND the neighbours mostly have dogs.

I have to tie the cage doors shut.

snowflakesarahandco · 07/06/2010 19:48

hello everyone sorry i have not been about much we have been in cornwall for the last week on holiday , had a fab time Rosie was a little monkey most of the time but we got thru with the aid of 2 minute time outs at leat 50 times a day! she is much harder work than Harry ever was at 2!!! i know they are all different but i sometimes wonder if i can deal with her without exploding! lol

she is very naughty and so cheeky! little sod!!!!

how is everyone, had lo's head healed now lljkk?

alkar · 14/06/2010 15:17

Hi everyone

I am in the process of pottytraining daniel. We went out to rhyme time this morning, we were only out for an hour but he'd managed a couple of wee's and a poo inhis nappy so I'm staying in for the next couple of days and I have cabin fever already!

How's everyone else doing?

Bessie123 · 14/06/2010 15:19

yay, more posts on our thread.

sarah my dd is a proper cheeky monkey as well. She has taken to spitting every time she is a bit put out, which ends up with her going in time out about 50 times a day, too.

Alkar After a week of potty training I still have to keep asking dd if she wants to go on the potty, otherwise she wees on the floor, sofa, wherever she happens to be at the time.

sunshinesarahandco · 14/06/2010 19:40

bessie thank goodness you posted that, i was begining to thinki have a bad apple!!!!! Rosie is a real minx and so strong to go with it!

we are semi potty training- Rosie wants to do it some days but not others, i am planning on giving it a real good go over the next few weeks, tbh up til now i have not had the right mindset but she is so ready! been very busy with Elliott etc! (its an excuse i know)

although on a plus we have no dummies and no night time bottle of milk since her operations so at least she is on the way! lol

btw do you like my summery name?lol

alkar · 15/06/2010 11:15

Lovely name Sarah but where is the sunshine???

Potty training still going really well. Going swimming this afternoon so he will need a nappy on in the car which is a shame but he's back to nursery tomorrow and I'm not sure they will be great with the potty training there anyway

sunshinesarahandco · 22/06/2010 21:48

wow what a lovely day the weather has been fab, Rosie been in the paddling pool and had a great time til Harry came home from school and splashed her- thus creating world war three!!!!!arghhhhhhhh! kids!

hope you all ok, x
