Ooooops! GeorginaA. How embarrasing.

{crawls under desk cringing}

I feel like you lot know each other so well and I completely don't know what I'm talking about.

At least it was nice things rather than 'that horrid cow, Casmie' or anything like that!

GeorginaA · 06/05/2005 10:27

laugh yes I'm relieved I wasn't referred to as the horrid cow Casmie, too

Fab Thomas outfit, GeorginaA! Hope nursery was impressed. DH has just told me has has booked the day off next Wed for DS's birthday - Hooorah! So that's double Tumbletots for him then

Libb · 06/05/2005 23:57

lol Ponka! you are sweet. See Georgina, even with a name change you make an impact.

DS faired better than I did with our skirmish with the fire. He isn't aware of his gash now whereas I am now on pain killers for my back - the bruise is very impressive indeed. My bruised ribs are even better, ex was ready to rush me to A&E on Wednesday night because it hurt to breathe. I seriously thought it had shifted to something nastier . . .

My helium balloon kit arrived today so I spent a part of the evening having a practice balloon pumping session then singing to that dreadful chirpy bird song to DS (he likes it ) before nearly keeling over again! I am well impressed though, enough gas for and inc. 30 balloons with valves and ribbons for £35 inc. posting. am going to decorate the house and then give some out for the kiddy guests.

Things might not be great here but I will not spoil his first birthday for anything.

Glad we are doing well and Happy Birthday to one and all!

GeorginaA · 07/05/2005 00:42

Libb, I really sympathise with your back. When ds1 was small I fell down the stairs carrying him (he was still a babe in arms, maybe only a few months old? Can't remember now) Normally when you fall, you fall forwards and put your arms out to protect yourself, only I couldn't do that holding ds1, so I fell backwards. Came down the stairs on my back and then slammed my arm into the stairgate at the bottom. Ds1 was shocked but unhurt other than a slight bruise on his arm, as I remember. I on the other hand was in agony and really stiff for weeks afterwards! I wince just thinking about it!

Don't get too drunk on the helium

Don't know what our party is going to be like tomorrow. We'd invited 19 children - 7 have now cancelled due to chickenpox doing the rounds Nowt can be helped, but it's galling to be paying for a big party when we've actually got a small number of guests (well... small ish!) As long as ds1 has fun though....

SusiS · 07/05/2005 07:22

wow G! very impressed with your thomas the tank!!!!

libb, i really hope you'll get something to keep the pain under control!!!

and it's Lucas' 1st birthday today!!!!!!!!
guess i am more excited than he is

GeorginaA · 07/05/2005 09:41

took dd swimming today. only the 4th time in her life, which is terrible i agree. dh came, - the FIRST time in her life, so that's worse! she loved it which i am relieved about as last time she really didnt like it and i thought i'd perhaps missed the window. it was nice and warm there too. going next weekend as well now.

right, dh is playing golf and dd is sleeping so i guess i must get some ironing doen

nice to here from you judd and ponka xxx

kbaby · 07/05/2005 17:23

happy 1st birthday cant keep track of whos turned one.

Not much happening here. DD's been really ill with some virus and has speant the past week being sick with temperture etc. Today she finally seems better but is having the elton of tantrums if anything remotely goes wrong.
Sleeping has been a nightmare and shes been in bed with us all week sleeping sat up with one of us holding her. It means were soooo tired as she is restless. Im hoping once shes a lot better to start the dreaded cc. How much is everyones lo's eating? DD appetite seems to have decreased and is porridge and milk in the morning then about 4-5 mouthfulls of fish pie/spagetti etc and yougurt and then tea is 4 mouthfulls and a fruit puree and milk b4 bed.

kbaby · 07/05/2005 17:24

forgot to say, if you say are you sulking she lays on the floor on her belly and puts her head in her hands{smile}

egypt · 07/05/2005 20:50

aww how cute kbaby.

dd's appetite used to be exactly that kbaby without the porridge for breakfast - just the milk. is it just since she's been ill? she wo't feel like eating at all i would imagine. i managed to kick start dd's eating by not giving her milk before her solid breakfast. she's desperate for it and cant control herself if she even sees it, but i get her weetabix down her as soon as she's up then towards the end of her bowl her milk. then a bit more weetabix. i've stopped giving her a bit more milk in the morning, as i used to and she eats more lunch. then nothing in the afternoon, (where i used to give her a bottle), except maybe a biscuit or something and a drink of water, then her tea at 5 ish. she seems to want more since i've been doing this. although it's still fairly often that she just has a few mouthfulls of her savoury and then refuses but eats her pudding. have you tried her with scrambled egg. dd cant get enough!

Prufrock · 08/05/2005 00:16

Damn - 15 minutes late with the Happy Birthday Lucas.
I've just finished icing dd's cake for tomorrow, and made the last lot of cornflake cakes.

egypt · 08/05/2005 10:23

hope the party goes with a swing prufrock. blimey, you were up late.

we're having real separation anxiety lately, or even the reverse, crying like mad when i walk IN the room. poor dh feels a failure. he got dd up this morning, took her in the kitchen to give her her breakfast, of which she wouldnt really eat only drank some milk. as soon as i walk in she went ballistic, reaching for me, sobbing her heart out. dh got quite cross when i tried to take her, saying that i shouldnt 'give in'. at which i got very angry. tried to explain that its a phase and its not 'giving in' it's comfort and reassurance, lalala, but of course he just feels wounded. found a bit about separation anxiety by elizabeth pantley for him to read so now he kind of understands that you need to take these things slowly and not make too much of an issue of it with the child. ie, not forcing them to do/be with someone they dont want to. etc. anyway, it's here if you've any interest. am i the only one with this problem? strange how she is fine with my mum, whether i walk in, leave her or whatever. oh dear.

egypt · 08/05/2005 11:11

georgina, have bought the ingredients for your yummy recipes! buuuuuut, cant for the life of me find fresh beef stock, or any fresh stock, in the chiller cabinet in tescos. WHERE?!? was yours tescos? hmm, could look online i guess. so i bought some knorr cubes which seemed low in salt.

GeorginaA · 08/05/2005 12:44

It's in little plastic tubs (bit bigger than a cottage cheese tub). Trying to think where it's sited in ours ... near some of the fresh ready sauces like neopolitana pasta sauce I think. Just at the start of the meat chilled area and opposite the ambient organic and "free from" shelves. Best thing is to corner a shelf stacker and demand the location!

OP posts:
GeorginaA · 08/05/2005 12:45

(but stock cubes will do more than adequately... I just pretend to be a foodie now and then )

OP posts:
kbaby · 08/05/2005 19:48

Egypt, DD gets like that sometimes. I always say to DH that she wants me to cuddle and him for playing, that way it makes him feel included. I also take DD off him if shes upset which annoys him slightly but I cant sit there and watch her cry and feel that I need to do something.

DD slept at my mums last night and slept from 8 until 1am and then after some milk sleprt until 6.30am. Thats twice shes done that now so im definetly thinking the reason she is waking is because she knows we are too soft.

All DD has done today is talk, shes feeling much better. She hasnt stopped and seems to be talking some sortve japenese language with a 'morrecow' word which crops up all the time.

spots · 08/05/2005 20:21

And my DD does that too. I like to think she is generally ok till I walk in...

We've been up at DH's sister's for the weekend. They live up north in the proper countryside, and have a 2 year old, a 4 year old and an 8 year old. DD was SPELLBOUND by them! The big cousins. Followed them around making joyous whickering noises, laughed uproariously at their antics and roared when removed from the action. It was great to see her so involved... and she really seemed to grow up. Today she reportedly stood unaided for about 5 seconds, rising up from a squatting position, and for the last two days has only b/fed morning and night. She finally managed something resembling a clap, but its not a clap as we know it, as it involves the back of one hand and the front of another! Her chattering is endless and elaborate.

Nice to hear from Ponka. We feel ready to start on number two, too, and that's why I'll be happy if DD can manage only morning and evening feeds as my periods haven't come back yet.

God, also discovered (while on the pregnancy topic) how knackered my pelvic floor muscles are! Went on a cross country run with DSIL (sister in law?) and galloping over the heather was THE END. She's a midwife and had asked me how I had got on after tearing... I said no problems. Had revised that slightly by the end of the run. Am rather sad as more children is unlikely to improve the situation.

TMI?

Bozza · 08/05/2005 22:05

spots - my pelvic floor is just the same as it was after DS, don't think having DD made much difference - it was already done for. So maybe a bit of reassurance. Happy Birthday to everyone's little 1yos and Prufrock and Georgina's older ones.

Had a nice afternoon out at the farm today. They also have a brilliant playground which DS loves and DD thought the slide was fantastic. She's suffering with her molars at the moment though.

Where's Cat?

Judd · 08/05/2005 22:19

I'm doing my pelvic floor exercises now, can you tell?

(that's not a shock emoticon, that's my unobtrusive expression when I do them!)

Judd · 08/05/2005 22:21

Glad people are around, DH has gone to Dublin (only till Tuesday evening) but I've got that yucky Sunday evening feeling....

spots · 09/05/2005 10:29

oh dear poor Judd, not very around were we? I had to go to bed!

DH starts new job this week so he's taking a couple of days off. hoorah. Am going to see if DD can manage on the fewer number of b/feeds she had at the cousins' house - ie morning and evening only. She just did go down for her nap without one, so we'll see. Grownup girl.

egypt · 09/05/2005 11:06

i challenge anyone who says they read the last few messages without doing a single pelvic floor exercise! mine isnt great either, but havent actually done any running to find out the extent of it!

gosh, number twos for spots too. roll on september then i may join you.

reassuring to hear your d's are a bit whingy with dh/dps at times too. guess only mummy will do sometimes.

anyone watch 'the house of tiny tearaways'? its been on bbc3 for a few days but was repeated in a whole edited single hour last night on bbc2. very interesting. will most certainly let dd make as much mess as POSSIBLE when eating from now on! if you dont know what i'm on about i'll elaborate later.

xxxx

chatted to cat the other night. she's fine. susi too - and her mates online! popular girl
