We could always shorten you to KM instead of Kate.

Katemum · 09/05/2005 22:08

I answer to most things, thanks for the welcome

helsy · 09/05/2005 22:17

Spots - I still feel like a newbie, so that's why I said "they" - remember I'm still waiting for that pmsl...

Dd2 has about an hour and a half at nursery - after lunch about 12.15 they put them all down and she eventually got into the routine. At weekends and on Friday when she is with Dh for the day she sleeps when she likes but it's usually a bit later. She's very restless tonight - got to go back in to her. Dd1 had pneumonia two weeks before her first birthday and I just have this fear that dd2 will get ill too, particularly since the hospital visit today.

Katemum, hello! I've just worked out what a pita is - thought you'd misspelled something but couldn't think what it could be, unless your baby is made of greek bread.

Katemum · 09/05/2005 22:19

Hello Helsy, Was talking about ds who is 4, he would be a bit mouldy by now

cat82 · 10/05/2005 11:31

Hi everyone!

Blimey, i can't ebelieve how long it's been since i last posted. It's been a bit stressy in the Cat household lately, my mother AKA Satan's PR assistant is coming on Thursday for Kiera's 1st birhtday, We've all been sick with colds from hell, loads to deal with with RL freinds...ho hum

Fristly, Welcome to Distel and Katemum, I'm Cat, I'm 23, Live in Cambridge and have a daughter called Kiera who will be one on Friday.

Happy Birthday to all 1 year olds!!! Can you believe our little thread has gone on for soooo long and now we all have (almost) toddlers?!

Libb- Love to you hope to chat soon.

Kiera is still nowhere near cruising and i'm starting to worry a bit. She does pull herself up on the bars of her play pen, but then gets stuck and cries as she can't figure out how to get down again. Any tips guys?!

Love to all of you, i promise i will check in again and start responding to individual posts again!

xxxx

egypt · 10/05/2005 13:40

dont worry cat, i've 2 friends with babies our ages and they dont even pull up yet. they are all so different so dont stress. you cant make her do it and if you did she would probably be put off the idea! love to you anyway xxx

welcome new mums. i'm egypt, 30 (eek) have one dd who is one on the 28th. hmm, dh, live in nw leics. thats about it really.

Ponka · 10/05/2005 21:01

Hello Katemum and Distel. I'm 28 and from Nottingham. I have 1 DS and he'll be 1 at the end of the month. So you've both experienced toddlers and tantrums then. I'll probably be asking for some tips soon......

Naps. DS does all sorts. He'll sleep 3 hours one day and half an hour the next. He gets tired about 10 ish and will sleep then from half an hour to 2 hours. Depending on how long that one is, he'll sleep at lunchtime, at about 4 ish or both.

Cat, DS has only just started cruising a little bit this week. I wouldn't worry. They'll all be running around before we know it.

Egypt, what's this about the "house of tiny tearaways" and messy eating, then? I really wanted to watch it but missed it.

I had a really nice day today. I went to visit a friend who lives a bit away and met up with all her NCT friends, played tennis and drank coffee. It was so great. I really regret only going to a weekend course and not taking weekly classes and meeting anyone here. I've GOT to get up the courage to go to a mother and toddler group. it's never too late. Got to stop being a big chicken!!!

Lots of Birthday's tomorrow, I see. Have a great time all of you. x

Ponka · 10/05/2005 21:05

oh and lol Judd re. Caesaren ovehang. I know what you mean. I recommend some big bridget jones suck your stomach in pants!

Katemum · 10/05/2005 21:18

Back again, thanks for the welcome. I am 34 and live in Lancashire with dp of 11 years, ds age 4 and dd so very nearly 1.
dd started giving us kisses at the weekend, think this is the only time in your life when you would let anyone covered in snot and dribble anywhere near you let alone give you a kiss. (yes I do wipe, very frequently but she is like a tap at the moment) Anyway it was very very cute.
Finding her a bit stressful at mealtimes though, if she decides she doesnt want something it has to be aimed over the side and the highchair tray has to end up completely empty, is improving my catching skills though.

GeorginaA · 10/05/2005 21:27

I am such a softie.

Was getting a bit sorry for ds2 in that he wasn't getting a party of his own or as much attention as ds1 got for his birthday, so I've just set up the living room with the outdoor pop up tent and tunnel thing we had when ds1 was small, plus a little paddling pool with ballpit balls in it for his very own mini Wacky Warehouse .

The floor went into the kitchen today, so it feels like the extension is officially finished (still odds and sods to do, but we've moved all the major furniture around to where they're going to live) and I was feeling light headed and giddy with all the extra space... that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Right, on to the wine...

And just to prove that I'll take a photo of anything, me.... Our very own Wacky Warehouse

Georgina we have that set too. I was planning on getting it out in the garden for DD's party on Sunday. Still not sure whether to hire a bouncy castle - my main aim being to keep the children out of the house! But not sure on the weather.

Egypt - I was sat in DD's bedroom giving her her milk tonight and DH and DS came in to give her a goodnight kiss and she cried when DH left the room. It was the "your leaving me" pathetic cry as well. She did the same last night when DH was doing her and I was doing DS. So apparently - only Mummy and Daddy is good enough for her.

Cat - not much you can do on the cruising except wait. DD is only just sort of cruising, although recently has got quite good at getting back down again. Think she will be a while before walking, her balance is rubbish.

DH has managed to get a PC from work so now we are not reliant on his laptop and him being present. Its a written off one so ours to keep, we've just had to buy a flat screen monitor for it. Quite pleased because we were wanting to get one before DS started school. Got a letter from DS's school - they want him to go for an hour 9.30 -10.30 on a Thursday from half term to summer. How am I supposed to manage that when I work 20 odd miles away on a Thursday? Am going to see if I can swap.

DD has been having 2 naps - one late morning - 10.30 - 11.45/12 and a quick one late afternoon 3.45-4.15 - all times approximate and then sleeping 7.30 - 6/6.30 at night. But now she's in the toddler room at nursery and they tend to have set nap times. So today she didn't wake up until 6.45 am and napped 12-1.45 but was exhausted at bathtime and was in bed by 7.15. Think we're at that in between stage too Georgina.

Hi Katemum and Distel.

Libb · 10/05/2005 22:18

Cat, we get the Riverdance version of cruising at the moment. He has just learnt how to haul himself up, now we have the frantic wobble with a cry of triumph!

I wouldn't worry too much at the moment, I think they just like to test us!

Has just occured to me that I haven't looked at my "What to expect in the first year" book for about 5 months now . . .

Libb · 10/05/2005 22:19

Sorry, forgot to say hello to all the new faces - great to meet you and have fun here xxxx

SusiS · 11/05/2005 07:14

morning ladies!
welcome katemum and distel!!!

i am susi, 36 (), live with dp in berkshire, and ds was 1 on 7th may!

AAAAAAAAAAAND we'll be having a little girl - getting really excited now! but scared too

Lucas did his first unsupported step today!!!!
he held on to the doorframe and let go for one step to reach the other side of the frame 'weeeheeyyyy'

naps: well, when he gets tired really! one 2-3 hours after getting up in the morning (last anything between 40min - 3 hours) - another one after lunch (shorter one, about 1hr) and if really necessary a shorty at about 4 (but never later)! and he goes to bed 6.30-7pm; is an early bird so and wakes 5.30-6am

lol G; i love your very own whacky warehouse!!! lucas got that tent/tunnel thingy for his birthday and he loves it!!!! - have got the pool but no balls - yet

waves at cat wohoooooo! hope you are allright!

spots · 11/05/2005 09:38

Susi, that's exciting to know it'll be a girl. Have you been getting excited about names?

SusiS · 11/05/2005 09:47

we are sort of stuck with the name we had for lucas if he had been a girl - Caitlin!
i still like it

Judd · 11/05/2005 10:01

Hiya Susi - lovely to hear from you. How many weeks are you now? Are you on another ante natal thread as well, comparing notes with all the other mums to be?
It's DS's birthday today! We got him a music maker (with "DJ Puppy dog") from Tesco - he and DD love it. She is singing the C Beebies bedtime song into the mike now, and DS is doing the bongo drums.
Last night both children slept beautifully - DH kept me awake with his snoring. Sooooo loud!

SusiS · 11/05/2005 12:51

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your ds judd!!! hope you have a brilliant day!

aww, can't wait to see mine play together like yours - guess still quite some time till it will happen though

i am 19+3 today and of course i am in the 'due in october' thread

awww judd, you can't win, can you?! finally the kids are great at night and now dh is playing up! have you tried 'controlled snoring'???

Bozza · 11/05/2005 22:09

Happy Birthday to Judd's DS. Hope you had a lovely day.

Susi brilliant choice of name if I do say so myself. I happen to know a Caitlin who will be one on Sunday and is very cute. Although has started to have tantrums (laying on the floor and kicking her legs) if she doesn't get her own way. Still - cute tantrums...

We have bought DD the Happyland Thatched Cottage (on Georgina's say so), a wind up dolphin for the bath, books and a colouring book. DS has bought her the "my first stroller" from ELC. Oh and also a second hand copy of Sleeping Beauty (I know she's too young but I wanted to get some girly films) and Pooh's party duplo (to add to the collection) also second hand.

Bozza · 12/05/2005 13:14

Well I'm going to be in trouble with DH. Just spent another 50 quid on plants for the garden - mostly bedding as well so no long term gain. And also booked a bouncy castle for Sunday. Got to pick it up Saturday afternoon so will need to send him to golf in my car - doubt I could manage to fit two children and a bouncy castle in a Fiesta! Hopefully if I get the kids out of the car and look hopeless (no difficulty there) they will load it up for me. Just hope the weather stays OK.

egypt · 12/05/2005 13:38

lol bozza! hope the weather stays ok for you too.

happy birthday little judd.

we have the name caitlin for another girl too. dh has made it very clear that that is what he wants!

spooky

not much to report, just a quick hello......off to order a skip. cant possibly have a bbq for dd's birthday with the garden the way it is!

Distel · 12/05/2005 13:41

Happy birthday to Judds baby for yesterday - It was also my ds's. We had a lovely day although I am still a little sad as he seems so big, deffinetly not my little baby anymore . I am trying to keep up with all of you but with the birthday yesterday it was a bit manic and diddn't post.

GeorginaA · 12/05/2005 19:27

Happy Birthday Judd & Distel's little ones... ds2's birthday was fab too... he had lots of fun with his homemade wacky warehouse.... lol.

I am absolutely KNACKERED now though - I could sleep for a week! 2 kids birthdays so close together is really hard work!

Libb · 12/05/2005 21:46

Happy Birthday May Babies/Toddlers/Whatever! I think I might almost be organised for Saturday - Ex finally told his dad we have split! blimey, he has got his bottom in gear. So we are having friends over for Saturday (all his, mine are all in Cambridge) and he is going over with DS on the Sunday - it would be too awkward for me to go.

He still has to tell his mum, I think that is the one he will find harder because she was so happy to have ex settle down at last as a family man (as us Mums of sons would! ) - I think he is also going to mention the money he owes me for the house repairs . . . I don't envy him at all. I told him I would let him play it by ear. I am the proverbial Mug! (but I still care about him, fool that I am - humph!)

So I have helium balloons, a cake (bought by my line manager bless her xx), nibbles, decorations and I am hoping the barbecue will be on the go. We do have a knackered bouncy castle that wasn't put away from last year - despite several reminders that were issued. Say no more.

Anyway, this is turning into a rant so I shall go - thanks (yet again!) for letting me bend a collective ear. You guys are fantastic! and we are very very lucky people xxxxxxx
