afternoon all, been rushing round like a lunatic all morning and finally got a chance to pop in for a catch up.

welcome back america
difficult call ref meet up, a stressy meet up with kids or a pi** up in the evening?

MS congratulations on your DH's promotion. Hopefully more money so you can afford buggys to match ALL your outfits

hope swimming is going well for all that are attempting it. DD has her swimming lesson tomorrow, hopefully she will pay attention a bit more than previous weeks.

I had a bit of an emotional weekend. Won't bore you with all the details but fairly recently someone who had been a friend (not a really really close one) has been a bit 'off' with me. We've known each other 3+ years which is a long time out here as some people only last a year or so. Anyway, over recent weeks I became aware that she had excluded me a few times from a few meet ups, a coffee morning and then a meal out on Wednesday night and a few people commented on my absense. I thought the first time maybe she'd accidentally overlooked me and thought it odd a few times when she'd be really friendly if she saw me on my own but offish if in a big group.

Anyway, I was really tearful about it yesterday wondering what I'd done. Anyway, our DH's all have grades out here and until a month or so ago our DH's were both the same grade but hers got promoted which meant a pay rise, driver etc. We tended to mix with a whole group of wives with DH's of different grades and I did wonder whether the promotion would change her. It has.
DH heard this morning one of the other men in the office saying she has chosen to socialise only with grade 3's (her DH's new grade) and above. WTF! Am I being unreasonable to want to grab her by her scrawny f*ing neck and beat the crap out of her?
In a way, I'm glad its not me personally and just my DH that isn't good enough Hopefully she will get her comeupance, they always do.
MS hope your DH's promotion doesn't mean you'll become a moldie or something

anyway, sorry for my whinge but it really got to me over the weekend and to be honest, it was that that started mine and DH's rows over the weekend.

Meet up in June still sounds fab, who else is up for it and where?

PinkTulips · 09/05/2009 15:05

mos, your friend sounds like a prize bith you're better off without friends like that imo

lbb, our cupboards are impossible to put locks on, all corner cabinets or next to appliances, the only ones i've managed to lock are the fridge and one cupboard i put all the breakable baking stuff in. my parents have broken the fridge lock everytime they try and use it and the other is a magna lock which takes dp 10 mins each time to thwart ds1 has taken to rooting around in the corner cabinet though and i keep finding him sat on the kitchen floor munching on cereal or attacking the juice cartons

only took dd 45 mins to let me leave the party, she's gotton majorly clingy, due no doubt to me disappearing for a week when aaron was sick all her best friends are there including the ones who left playschool for big school last year so she should be happy enough though

america... glad to see you back. good for you ditching the baby books and going with the flow

aaron does full body smiles and giggles, he charmed the pants of all the ladies at the party giggling and smiling at them, but he also does the saddest chin wobbling, tears pouring out of his eyes sad face so it really is one extreme or the other!

littleboyblue · 09/05/2009 16:00

Piss up in the evening!!!!!
MoS She sounds like a complete utter snob that quite frankly you don't need in your life. Awful when 'friends' do things like that, but at least now you know she just isn't worthy of your time and attention.
PT I'm going to have to find locks for the fridge and freezer too!

The babies are a complete dream when they're laughing aren't they? Ds1 and 2 earlier, were staring into each others eyes and really laughing at each other. Was soooo sweet, completely heartmelting. I did want to take a picture, but didn't want to move and break their little conection.

Today has been the longest day ever!!!!! Ds1 has been driving me slightly potty tbh, he just won't quit climbing all over the furniture and throwing himsef at me and at Luke. He's trying to be nice but doesn't realise how rough he is.

I need a fag. Dp better get home soon

mumoverseas · 09/05/2009 16:04

PT, thanks for seconding what I thought
Aaron sounds adorable, H does that thing with the chin, little monkey, he has me wrapped around his little finger already.
Hopefully your DD will soon lose the CMS (clingy monkey syndrome) My DD has had it a few times the last month or so but I'm hoping she has grown out of it now, fingers crossed

mumoverseas · 09/05/2009 16:15

LBB, I totally agree ref piss up!
sorry you've had a bad day. I actually had a good day. Went to mums and tots then went for lunch and then coffee with a newish mum out here. She moved out in January but then went back to the UK for a month and just back. Its great as she is really normal and her DD is only 2 weeks younger than my DD and they are the closest in age which is good. Most of my DDs friends are older and I'm a bit worried about how she will be come September when most of them will move into Foundation 1 and leave her behind (her birthday is 1st Oct) My new friend is 'my' sort of person if that makes sense AND, her DH is the same grade as mine. We've made a pact not to dump each other if one of our DH gets promoted Funnily enough, this other 'friend' was really rude to her last week too.

Have a fab LBB, I had some dairy milk yesterday to cheer myself up

littleboyblue · 09/05/2009 16:30

Dp just got in, walked into theliving room and said "what's been going on in here?" And I have just noticed the state of the place I have not picked up one toy! Oh dear.

PinkTulips · 09/05/2009 16:58

dp would get a punch in the face if he ever uttered those words in this house

littleboyblue · 09/05/2009 17:50

I don't thin k he meant 'what have you been doing all day you lazy cow' or anything like that. There was just a lot of crap toys and puzzle pieces everywhere. He's gone to tescos now

dinkystinky · 09/05/2009 19:55

MoS - sounds like you're better off without that snobby woman in your life! Glad you've made a nice new friend...

Pink - bet your DD had a ball when you left though. Its strange how kids can be sometimes - at DS1's birthday party our old neighbour and her little girl (aged 6) was there. Her little girl was the oldest at the party and really confident in the soft play area, looking after DS1 so sweetly - but when it came to the birthday tea she was INSISTENT that her mum sit on one of the toddler chairs so she could sit on her to have her tea... At least you escaped before being turned into a chair at the teatime

Danny really loved his baby swim class - youngest there by about 3 months but did brilliantly with being submerged and bounced about the place (the only bit he didnt like was floating on his back - strangely enough DS1 is like that too) - and is now snoozing away. Fingers crossed for a good night tonight as DH is out on the piss (with prior clearance this time).

lardybump · 09/05/2009 21:30

evening all mos what a snob you are better off without her. It will be her loss...

Welcome back America..

LBB my dp has been known to say that with a disgusted look on his face... Usually i end up in the spare room on those night

Cocodrillo · 09/05/2009 22:15

Hi all. Thanks for all the reassurances re DD2, she has been ok for 2 days now so fingers crossed all is well and I was being paranoid.

MOS that woman sound awful, you are deffo better off without toxic people like that around you.

Dinky baby swimming sounds great. I didn't take the others, but might enrol baby R in something. I have also put R down for a trial baby senosry class, probably nonsense but interested to find out!

He loves his bath so much, after you posted about your tummy tub, dinky, I was determined not to buy more baby kit, but succumbed to the glorified bucket, and it was a really good investment as his face just lights up the moment he goes in!

PinkTulips · 09/05/2009 22:31

one of the kittens just died he seemed to get some sort of chest infection and his tiny little body couldn't cope, he died in my hands. feeling a bit shakey now

Cocodrillo · 09/05/2009 22:32

How is DS lardy?

Cocodrillo · 09/05/2009 22:33

X-post pink. So sorry about the kitten.

mumoverseas · 10/05/2009 06:03

morning all, just quickly checking in as going off to sell some tat/jewellery & cards at a coffee morning on another compound.

PT, so sorry about your kitten. I've had that before and know how awful it is. A few years ago one of our two 'male' bunnies had lots of babies and they all died one by one and the last one died in DD1's hands (she was around 10 years old) and it was really upsetting.
I hope that you manage to explain it in the easiest possible way to your DC. When our last bunny died a month or so ago DD (2.5) didn't really understand death and luckily did not see him dead so we said that he had gone to play with his friends and she accepted that. Hugs to you and your DC xxx

littleboyblue · 10/05/2009 07:05

Coco Glad dd seems to be on the mend
PT So sorry. Hope you're all ok.

Not sure what to do today. Dp has the day off so not sure if we should try and do something the 4 of us, or if when he gets up, I should go back to bed for a few hours........

MarkStretch · 10/05/2009 07:24

Awwww PT, poor thing, are you ok?

Welcome back America.

What a cow MOS.

We are up early here because I couldn't sleep through F's farting. He has been squirming about since 5.30am so he's now on the changing mat, nappy off, having a good ol' trump. DD is fanning the air in front of her face watching cartoons through a fog.

DH's promotion is good but it's just for the 'experience'. They aren't paying him any more money and he has to keep his work phone on 24/7 and call in to check on things. He is now managing the entire ambulance control room all the time rather than just his team. The job will probably come up in 9 months time and he's debating whether or not to apply, it would be slightly more money but a lot more stress!

Taking DD irish dancing this morning and then sorting out crap in the shed to do a car boot sale at some point.

littleboyblue · 10/05/2009 07:31

MS We're hoping to do a car boot sale soon too. We have loads of stuff to get rid of. Dp went to one in HOunslow the other week and said there were loads of people there making a b-line for baby clothes and other baby kit, so hopefully, we'll get rid of it all and make a few £££ too.

The big challenge is to get dp to decide on a weekend so I can arrange care for the boys and so I can start sorting and pricing.

mumoverseas · 10/05/2009 13:11

MS, assume you didn't mean I'm a cow?
H farts a lot too, it is so cute and I can't help but laugh when he lifts his little legs up and lets rip. DH can't understand why he gets belted for doing the same

Car boot sounds a good idea. I've discovered quite a few unworn clothes from DD and was thinking of selling at a NCT sale when I got home. was quite disappointed as I contacted someone about a local one the week after I get back but apparently its £20 or £30 for a table! Shows how long it is since I've sold at one as years ago you used to just label up all your stuff, drop it off and they sold and took around 30% commission. Not sure I want to pay out that much for a table so car boot might be an idea.

Did really well at the coffee morning this morning, made around SR 1,400 which in real money at the current exchange rate is around £260, most of which was profit. Well chuffed and can afford to pay the final deposit on DSs ridiculously expensive school D of E trip. Quite a few people said I should do a couple of coffee mornings next month but not sure I want to do it too often. Have a little bit of tat/jewellery left so might think about it though.

Just watching the gp now and trying to decide whether we should pop over the the new Abu Dhabi race later in the year. Hopefully it won't piss down with rain like when we were in Malaysia

littleboyblue · 10/05/2009 13:21

MoS That is a lot to pay for a table at a NCT sale. That's a bit of a joke really, isn't it? So you'd have to give away £30 worth of stuff to just break even? I think most car boots is about £10, don't mind paying that, but wouldn't pay anymore. If it's anymore than that, the stuff will either go on e-bay or a yard sale

We off to the fun fair in a bit. Should be nice if not too pikey

PinkTulips · 10/05/2009 14:00

i've got two huge boxes of dd's clothes and an accumulating mass of boys things aaron is growing out off... am going to ebay them as there's not much in the way of car boot sales round here, at least on ebay you have a wider market and can do it all from the comfort of home.

i quite fancy sorting it all into little lots and posting it off

MarkStretch · 10/05/2009 14:13

MOS I didn't mean you!

Was sat eating my breakfast this morning with DD in the sitting room, DS in his bouncy chair.

Went to take my plate into the kitchen and heard a thump and a scream, ran back in to find DD had been 'rocking' the baby and had tipped him face first out onto the carpet.

Thankfully he is ok and DD is suitably ashamed.

PinkTulips · 10/05/2009 14:23

poor things, they must both have gotton a fright!

speaking of which i really need to start strapping aaron into his rocker, it reclines all the way so i don't generally but he keeps rolling over in it!

SweetTalkinWoman · 10/05/2009 14:45

MS what a shock for DD - and for you, not to mention Frank! I too need to remember to strap Sam in - I caught Little O pulling the back of the bouncy chair down to the floor, ready to let go and catapult Sam into the open dishwasher !!

Would love to do another meet up in June. Where's the best place for everyone? I think it's central or south London really.

at your PJ day LBB. I can't wait until DD watches films and things so that we can cuddle up on the sofa and have lazy mornings. At the moment, all she can sit still for is a 5 minute Peppa Pig episode. I am a total fan of Peppa! I just love the voices, the colours, the little bits of humour. But this is coming from someone who now worships Mister Maker, Nuzzle and Scratch and all the othe CBeebie characters who help entertain my daughter!

Quick question - Sam has got ANOTHER cold, but this time has got a hacking cough to go with it - is there any point going to the GP? Not sure if it's gone to the chest or not? It's just I always seem to be at the GP and he's already had 3 lots of antibiotics since he was born! I know a few of you have LO's with colds - have they got coughs too? Needless to say, the nights are not improving at the moment!

Hope you've all got sunshine today. It's lovely here now after a questionable start. I've even managed to cut the grass! We have DH's half-sister, and her half-sister, and their other halves ( - does that make sense?) arriving in a little while so I'd better make myself presentable and get the cakes out (not homemade I'm afraid).

Hope you are all well - haven't mananged to scroll back too far because last time I ended up loosing my post!

PT just read about your kitten - how sad, hope you are ok?
