Yikes LBB, hope both DS1 and Luke are ok! The alternate nights on and off duty with the boys sounds like a good idea - hope it works out for you guys.

Hope everyone has had a good day today. Danny has discovered he can rotate 180 degrees on his play mat today (rolls on his side and kicks his arms and legs till he moves) - every time I look at him he's done it again! I fully expect to be woken by him wedged sideways in his cot tonight.

Where is everybody? Just me and the tumbleweed around tonight clearly...

waves feebly at dinky

still here. wilting a bit but most definitely still here.

are you pushing on Fri?
Didn't go last week but up for it this week as DS1 back at school and weather set to cool down - pushing in this heat would so not be fun.

hope all is well. Don't think Stan likes the heat much as he's been very shouty this afternoon.

Luckily he's now conked out so my norks can take a well earned rest.

dinkystinky · 02/06/2009 21:11

Hi MsLucy - nice to see am not all alone. Everyone must be out in their gardens making the most of the really hot day today. Danny has been a bit unsettled too - as has DS1 (tantrum-tastic in the heat I've found). Yep, am pushing on Friday - will be nice to see you and Stan.

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 02/06/2009 21:18

nope, no garden lounging here. my baby doesn't like the heat much either so dealing with him shouting lots the last few days and he kicks the keyboard when i type so i keep abandoning posts half written in exasperation

thehouseofmirth · 02/06/2009 21:44

Evening! Rubbish day here. DS1 got horrid temperature and is generally unwell but can't get to bottom of what's wrong with him. I feel sorry for him(obviously) be he is sooo melodramatic. The whole man flu thing obviously starts very young...Think Mr T might have something too as his nappies are green and slimy but he's still his usual sunny self although today he has added shrieking to his repertoire.

What are your babies' favourite activities? I 'm very much of the school of me and general life as best entertainment but suspect Tarran might like a toy or two as well.

elkiedee · 02/06/2009 21:47

Dinky/MsLucy, hope to see you both on Friday too - I hope the weather cools down a bit too.

Danny definitely doesn't like the heat - he takes after me there I think. Don't really know about C, he's squawked and fed quite a bit today but touch wood is asleep now, at least for a bit.

Other than that I've been dozing, feeding, eating myself and playing online Scrabble (now known as Lexulous) on Facebook.

PinkTulips · 02/06/2009 21:56

thom... i'm generally of that school of thought too but aaron does seem happier the last few weeks with something to play with nearby. (or the tv to watch at a push )

he seems to go for the brightly coloured baby toys with noisy bits unlike my other two who prefered chewing on teddy bears for the most part... anything scrunchy or jingly keeps him busy for a while

thehouseofmirth · 02/06/2009 22:26

I caught Mr T watching Top gear the other night . He'd had to crane his neck in a very uncomfortable way to look at Jeremy Clarkson. I am so ashamed.

He likes his gym and has some scrunchy stuff. I keep looking at wooden worthy stuff but I know he'd prefer plastic crap

mslucy · 02/06/2009 22:36

Stan is intrigued by Mario Cart and all the crap telly DS1 watches. He also likes looking out of windows (inherited my nosy neigbour gene).

Toys-wise he likes a rattle, the scrunchy bits on the play mat but faces are his favourite - give him a smile and you get the cheesiest grin back in return.

Our house is full of tons of crap toys, no way am I buying any more!

Having said that, he was enjoying these today

www.lamazetoys.co.uk/lamaze-gardenbug-wrist-rattle--foot-finder-set-9-p.asp

which I think were a gift from my brother.

PinkTulips · 02/06/2009 23:04

we have 3 ride one cars... 2 horrible scummy plastic nes that are literally falling to pieces and arte filthy and a gorgeous wooden fire engine that gets comments from every single person ho comes in the house...... guess which one sits in the corner gathering dust?

i think the chemicals in the plastic must emmit some sort of baby pheromone

mslucy... i had those in my amazon cart and almost bought them but chickened out at the last minute as i wasn't convinced they'd be worth the money for such a short space of time... might go back and get them now.. especially as aaron is the first of mine to be facinated with his own toes (and his boys bits when he's nappy free but the less said about that the better )

elkiedee · 02/06/2009 23:44

I maintain that I've hardly bought any toys ever, ok that's a bit of an exaggeration - Conor did chew something at the baby group we went to today but I think he likes being talked to most. I just hope that as he starts getting more interested in toys Danny won't try to grab everything back off him.

PinkTulips · 03/06/2009 00:06

one of my proudest yet most embarassing moments ever with dd was when i was at an meetup with some other internet moms and one of the little boys tried to take ds1's toy crab... we'd told dd so often that it was ds1's only toy so she shouldn't play with it that she attacked the little boy and snatched the crab back for ds1.... she screamed at the poor child and everything

littleboyblue · 03/06/2009 07:06

Morning. Everyone is still alive!! Ds1 soon forgot about his fall, only a little one. Luke's fine too, he continued to eat well yesterday, so not sure what that was all about. He slept through again last night. 6:30pm to 6am!!!!! And ds1 didn't fall out of bed, so if it wasn't for me thinking about the massive spider that made it's home on the outside of my kitchen window, I'd have had a great night's sleep.
thom sorry to hear your boys are a bit unwell. I think Luke's favourite thing is just to stare at his big brother, but he has a crinkly teddy thing (sounds like the body's made out of a crisp packet) that he likes to grab at. He also likes anything he can get into his mouth (apart from the dummy ), and he also enjoys it in the door bouncer but only for about 20mins at a time as he gets too tired.

thehouseofmirth · 03/06/2009 09:23

Morning. LBB I'm holding off on the door bouncer until Mr T's 4 months old but I know he'll love it. I think all babies love being talked to etc best but the current levels of chaos and dirt in my house means a little remote parenting is sometimes necessary.

Need to remember to strap him in the bouncy chair as I caught him rolling over and wriggling out yesterday. gosh it's such a short time when you can just leave them unattended, isn't it? Now DS1 is so grown up and self-sufficient I'd forgotten all this. Soon it'll be the first round of separation anxiety and wailing when you leave the room...

littleboyblue · 03/06/2009 09:31

We're at that stage now thom Luke screams when he sees me just heading to the door. Luke's 4 months tomorrow.
I start a stop smoking group tomorrow, so be warned, the stroppy, moody cowbag is coming back! Apologies in advance for inevitable short temper. Poor dp

thehouseofmirth · 03/06/2009 09:44

Good for youLBB. It's awfully hard to start off with but really worth it. I gave up for good the day I found out I was expecting DS1 because both my parents had died of smoking related diseases when I was only 20 and I couldn't face putting him through what I had endured with them. Having that motivation really helped. I can truly say I don't miss it at all now. It's great to know your sons will grow up thinking smoking is a bad thing and not have the conflict of wondering why mummy does it anyway. I know it's really, really hard (I gave up for about a year 8 years ago and went through what I can only describe as bereavement), it was so awful) but if you can try to think of it not as losing something but gaining something (cliched I know but true)i.e money, health, self-respect, freedom, it'll really help. Sorry for unsolicited advice but feel free to come on here and be as grumpy as you like!

PolkSaladLucie · 03/06/2009 09:53

Ooh - good luck with the stopping smoking lbb - I'll have my fingers crossed for you... We also have the seperation screaming thing, and she'll be 4 months on the 10th. It's a bit of a pain, but it's quite gratifying!!!!

We have a few toys that she chews, and she loves her play gym. We change the toys hanging from it, but she's under it a fair amount. She goes off to sleep on it as well! Most of the time she watches me and chews her fist!!!! We've got various toys for her car seat and pram though, as she doesn't get any face-to-face with me then, and she's really good at grabbing the different bits, she loves the crinkly stuff. I think I'm going to get on of those silver blankets someone linked to on ebay.

thom - When we change M's nappy she cranes her head round to see the TV! We make sure there's nothing offensive or violent on, and John doesn't play his xbox when she's downstairs (bonus!). Most of the time during the day I have the radio on, and she loves listening to music.

PolkSaladLucie · 03/06/2009 09:57

With the smoking thing - put how much money you'd spend on fags in a pot, and then get yourself a new bag/shoes/other treat when you have enough. It's a great incentive.

I used to smoke and when we we TTC I only smoked when I had my period!! Hadn't smoked at all since I found out I was pregnant, then other night I had one and it made me feel sick...

Calico1 · 03/06/2009 09:58

Morning all

Am in a bit of a pickle today - managed to forget that Lilian had her second jabs this morning and did something really dim this morning. Strapped DD into car seat, put car seat in the car, strapped DS into his car seat then drove to nursery...didn't strap DD's car seat into car using seat belt so the car seat was loose in the back . Didn't realise until DS said 'Lilian's fallen over Mummy'!!!!! Poor Lilian was strapped into the seat which now was on its side sliding all around the back of the car . Of course at this point I was in rush hour traffic with nowhere to safely stop so crawled along at 10mph until I could pull in and sort her out. Lilian didn't even wake up...[hmmm]

So all of you who have dropped your babies don't feel so bad now huh? Oh God, I feel like such a bad mother....

LBB good luck with the stopping smoking

STW sorry to hear that you've been having such a rubbish time with your DS. Lilian has reflux and before she was prescribed Infant Gaviscon she used to vomit clear stomach acid all the time...made her really, really uncomfortable and miserable so I do sympathise with you. She's a lot better with the Gaviscon every feed, but is still a bit sick after every feed.

THOM I haven't bought Lilian any toys yet but she does love watching her mobile go round - though it isn't one of those wind up ones so I have to keep batting it if I want to get my ironing done! She does love to watch the weather forecast though.....

PinkTulips · 03/06/2009 10:09

i gave in and bought a door bouncer again and aaron loves it, he's only just big enough for it this week but he loves bouncing while i cook dinner... it's very funny as he's figured out how to swing in the direction he wants to go and spends ages swinging at kittens to poke them with his foot much to their bemusement and disgust

PinkTulips · 03/06/2009 10:22

calico... i've done that at least once with each of mine as babies, the car seat never moved around but that feeling of horror when you go to take them out and realise the belt wasn't on, or worse yet the belt was on but the weren't strapped in, is horrendous.

luckily my older two are so used to seat belts now they shout at me if i forget theirs dd won't go in peoples cars if they don't belt her in... clever clogs

Calico1 · 03/06/2009 10:33

PT that make me feel a bit better. Just have to try and erase it from DS's memory or else he is bound to say something like 'baby lilian not strapped in' to DH this evening.....I'll have to laugh casually and pretend he has an over active imagination....

PinkTulips · 03/06/2009 10:39

luckily the first few times it happened to me dp was driving so there was dual culpability. honestly, it's such an easy mistake to make, especialy with an older child talking at you and flustering you.

rosieposey · 03/06/2009 11:18

Oh shit Calico i did that on Sunday ( but was too ashamed to admit it ) I went from Asda to home as i assumed that DH had strapped him in (he assumed i had too)!

Good luck with stopping smoking LBB - the money in the pot will be a great idea and you can treat yourself Is Luke really crying when you walk out of the room? Aww bless i didnt think they did that for a couple more months - Milo couldnt care a less when i walk out lol but he loves being with his sisters and dad too so maybe he just wont go through that stage who knows?

Milo woke up today with bright red cheeks and they were burning - do you think that he might be teething? I cant see even a sliver of toothypegs showing yet but i seem to remember in the darkest recesses of my memory that the girls always got bright red cheeks when they were teething.

PT those door bouncers are fab arent they? Milo loves his but hes not very adept at swinging around in it yet.

Weve got an architect friend coming around tomorrow to help us out with planning a largeish extension. We were going to move as we are so desperately short on room (3 beds) but as we are (link) detached and i love the area we thought we would cost up an extenstion and loft conversion, will probably cost as much to move up to a bigger house but i so love our garden and its quiet and pretty around here. I must be mad though as the house is going to be bloody chaos, i dont even know how long it will all take! (Am secretly quite excited at the thought of a new kitchen and en suite bathroom though - no more fights over the bathroom with the girls yay!)

Milo's got quite a few toys but he is only just starting to get into them - namely chewing his rattle!
