herbgarden · 01/06/2009 14:35

STW nathan was our boys name this time !!

PinkTulips · 01/06/2009 14:51

aaron is bartely ever in the buggy but our one doesn't go completely flat anyway, he's always a little bit propped up (when i say always i mean the grand total of 3 times he's been in it.

when he's in the sling he's sitting upright and loves it as he can look around (btw, dinky, i went for this in sunkissed and he loves it and it's really comfy)

mos, i'm definitely up for an irish meet up

mumoverseas · 01/06/2009 16:00

interesting ref Sams being naughty little monkeys. DD1 was supposed to be a boy and was supposed to be a Sam. She is an Alexandra now but she has been a complete PITA from the moment she arrived

PT, irish piss up/meet up it is

Having a nightmare trying to sort out my mum's funeral service etc and can't get hold of the priest or my aunt in Ireland who is a nun. Surely these people should be easily contactable in the event of an emergency
PT, might have to send you to the convent to track her down

thehouseofmirth · 01/06/2009 17:01

Damn you PT, I followed your link and now I've got sling envy! Well, I suppose I did intend to get a new one about now as Mr T's getting a bit heavy for the stretchy wrap and it's going to be too warm for summer...

Questionkid · 01/06/2009 18:47

I don't think I'm going to make the summer meet up. We're off on hols on Thursday 25th for a week so Weds 24th will probably be all about packing and getting ready. I'm also going out for a double celebration of mine and a friend's b'day on the 23rd so I may have a sore head as it's my first night out with the girls since Alex was born! I'll keep up with what you're planning for the 24th and if it turns out I'm hangover free and super organised with the packing I may come along.

Bumps - without wishing to you remind you AGAIN of your incident with your LO, thanks for sharing, it definitely made me feel better knowing that she's completely fine. You must've been so scared!

Questionkid · 01/06/2009 18:49

Meant to say as well, we've got a Maclaren buggy and Alex has been in it from birth. It doesn't go completely flat, but as near as dammit. We have him on the almost flat setting and the next one up, which is prob at about 45 degrees and he's always been fine. I can't remember what kind of Maclaren it is, but Markstretch will be able to tell you, she's got some major knowledge in the area I believe.

littleboyblue · 01/06/2009 19:42

Mine doesn't go completely flat, but meets the standard for newborns. I was told that for them to lay completely flat, you'd need a carry-cot.
Well, if everyone else is doing it, I think I'll let Luke sit up a bit as he is happier on a slant. Not that he'll be able to see anything, I hang a sheet over his part of the pushchair to keep him out of this nasty sun.

SweetTalkinWoman · 01/06/2009 20:00

PT I've never owned a sling in my life and I've got sling envy too! Love the sunkissed colourway - unfortunately out of stock at the mo . It says they go up to 35lbs - what's the average age for this weight? I know DD at 22 months is 13 kilos but am so rubbish I can't work it out !

Sam just covered both me and DH in acid vomit - bleurgh.

Just dyed my hair auburn and waiting for it to dry.... fancied a change but couldn't afford any plastic surgery!

Talking of which, I'm gradually losing baby weight but my "boobs" have shrunk to nothing . I didn't have much to begin with, but it's a joke now. Donations welcome .

Herb LOL at Nathan. Oh how I wish I could turn back time...

Right off to make some sort of meal out of the 100's of sausages BBQ'd at the weekend.

MarkStretch · 01/06/2009 20:53

It's a Maclaren Techno XLR and it handles like a beauty.

dinkystinky · 01/06/2009 21:01

Evening all. Hope you've all had lovely days in the sun today.

The pesky council were digging up the street outside our house again today - for no discernible reason - so Danny and I went out for the day; nice long walk into central london via Regents Park and ended up in Farringdon for his cranial osteopath appointment. Was lovely to get some exercise in while it was sunny.

STW - am sending you huge hugs. It does sound like you're really going through the mill with Sam at the moment - no wonder you're feeling tearful and on the edge at the moment. Just take it a day at a time and you'll get through it. Re the white noise CD - you can download natural sounds from itunes (we just found a natural sounds one which had hard rain on it - great for getting DS1 to stop screaming in the early days - and also a gentle tropical wave track which we keep on continual loop when he was calmed down to sleep to). I know that places like sleepyheads.com sell CDs but you're probably better off on itunes to check out a few different ones to find which one works best for your little man. I really hope that your paeds appointment comes through really soon.

Pink - that sling is lovely!! So . Must decide which one I want and order it so I can join you in the lovely sling club. Glad you had a nice civilised shopping trip (though 5 hours of driving doesnt sound like much fun) and all is looking good for the wedding trip in June.

Herb - funny you said that re sleeping without a swaddle. I put Danny down for his first nap this morning at home in just a 0.5 tog grobag (as he was up at 5 he was ready for his nap before the drilling commenced outside) and he sleep for 40 minutes. He's semi-swaddled tonight and will do a couple more day naps sans swaddle tomorrow to phase him into it.

Re meet up - can do Wednesday 24th but will probably have to leave earlyish as Danny is due his last set of jabs that afternoon.

Evening all.. Not such a good day here...

Had hospital appointment today as you know. They weighed ds and he has dropped another half centile. These are the proper breastfed centiles here as well!! That means in the last 4 weeks he has dropped from the 75th to the 25th centile... So not good..

They are stopping the gaviscon now as it is not working for him and have gone to stage two in the treatment... I cant remember the names of the drugs as the prescription is at the chemist (who dont stock it so had to order it in for tomorrow) but one is a stong ant acid to try to combat his heatburn and intigestion ant the other lowers the stomach so that the sick has further to travel so (fingers crossed) he is sick less... The paed wants to see us if no improvement in 4 weeks or if I am happy then 6 weeks... If this doesn't work ds will be admitted and a tube put down his throat to measure the acid... I really hope this isn't necessary

Added to this we are having problems with the neighbours (other side to me fire man) about boundaries so that is both neighbours we are potentially falling out with now!!!

And all this is compounded by dd who is playing up big time. She wont do a thing i say and today nearly got run over out side the hospital!!!

So we are really at a low at the moment....

littleboyblue · 01/06/2009 21:13

Oh bumps Your poor little man. I hope this next treatment works.
Ds1 has also been a little terror today and kept running away from me.

dinkystinky · 01/06/2009 21:22

Oh bumps sorry you're having such a crappy day I really hope the new treatment helps your little one - and quickly. And am sure your DD acting up is just a phase - one which I hope passes quickly for your sanity.

Hi everyone, have rubbish baby brain and i have read up until last Thurs when i last posted but just wont remember everything to post about.

Spotty so sorry to hear about your scary wait, I cant understand why it takes so long (but then again im no doctor!) but i hope the outcome is good for your DH and even if not there are some amazing courses of treatment available for him these days. Will keep my fingers crossed and be thinking of you.

QK, thats scary stuff - i have a real horror of dropping Milo , i never have as yet with any of my children but it scares me to think when i am walking over the kitchen floor how hard it is - glad Alex is ok though.

Bumps sorry that you are having such an awful time with your lo - i really hope things pick up for you soon and DD manages to behave a bit more for you both. I really hope that this new course of treatment works for you and your little one is soon on the mend and putting weight back on.

LBB your anniversary date is exactly the same as mine for mine and DH's first date I will try and make the meet if its then though as he will be at work all day, any proposals as to where though?

Milo likes sitting up too, he has the strongest legs ever and frequently pulls himself up if i hold his hands into a standign position. Because of his hernia he didnt spend that much time on his tummy so im not sure that he has that much back strength but i do put him on his stomach now every day and he still moans about it! He isnt keen on laying flat on his back when he is awake and is always straining his head to lift it up if he is flat - i sit him up on me quite alot though and it seems to suffice I have a door bouncer too which we just started using and he loves it! (pics on FB) he always looks really surprised though that he' standing independently bless him!

Hope everyone else is ok and enjoying this super hot weather.

littleboyblue · 02/06/2009 06:49

Hello. Bit of an odd morning here. Dp said he'd get up with the boys last night and he also suggested we alternate nights to be up so we each get a full nights sleep every other night (I have been saying this for 2 years, but not complaining now he agrees). So last night, I went to bed early and he was due to get up.
This morning, I was woken at 5am by Luke really screaming. Him and dp were in living room, so I stayed in bed for a bit, but it just carried on, so I came into living room and dp says he hasn't a clue what's wrong. He says it's the first time Luke woke up, but everytime he had some milk he screamed. Really bad painful screams. Dp said he was fine when got up and that he brought him in here because he was stirring and hadn't been fed since he went to bed at 6:30. I then took Luke and he fell asleep on me. Dp said he hadn't been awake properly at all. So I tried to wake him and he was really out of it and unresponsive so I told dp to get him and jacob dressed and we were going to the hospital. Then Luke sicked all over me, twice but stayed asleep, so panic getting dressed, then as I went to put a grow on him, he opened his eyes and laughed at me and has been fine for the past hour or so. He's asleep again now, hasn't had any more milk but temp is fine and breathing seems even so think I'll just have to see how he goes. He might just have little belly ache and could have been awake squirming for a while.

bumpsnowjustplump · 02/06/2009 08:46

Morning all.

I was wondering if anyone had any idea's on how to clean a mattress? DD was put to bed early last night and woke up late so has leaked through her nappy and soaked her mattress!!! It is soaked and smells of wee as well.... I have stripped it for now but need to buy something to clean it with, so any ideas would be a help!!!

LBB poor luke hope he is better now...

mumoverseas · 02/06/2009 10:37

morning
LBB hope Luke is ok, sounds like he is though if he is laughing at you. Just keep a careful eye on him (and don't drop him )

bumps, I've done it before with warm soapy water (ie a tiny bit of washing powder) and then sponge it with just warm water and leave in the sun (I assume you have sun there?) to dry.

PinkTulips · 02/06/2009 10:46

bumps, so sorry your having to up the treatment with ds, i really hope it works and the hospital isn't necessary, poor little lad

lbb... they really know how to panic us don't they?! hope he's ok now, sounds like a bit of a bug, hopefully anyway.

bumps... baking soda sprinkled all over the wet patch, leave for the day, hoover off and flip the mattress before bed

littleboyblue · 02/06/2009 11:33

mos stop it! people will start to think I'm some sort of serial baby dropper and I'm not, really. I didn't drop Luke, I just fell over holding him, ok I dropped ds1 a couple of times...........

Luke is fine. He finally fed at about 8am and again at 11. He's been his normally smily/whingy self, and has just had the biggest bum explosion, so maybe that was it.

mumoverseas · 02/06/2009 11:55

LBB, sorry glad Luke is feeling a bit better. Just shows he is a typical male....
full of shit!

littleboyblue · 02/06/2009 12:05

Yes! hahaha

bumpsnowjustplump · 02/06/2009 14:03

PMSL at men being full of shit....... DS was being cuddled by my friend at the weekend who is due to drop and has massive boobs and he couldnt take his eyes of her chest. It was so funny he really was transfixed by her boobs.... Typical man or what!!!

Thanks for all the advise re mattress it is now clean and i have ordered a plastic sheet....

littleboyblue · 02/06/2009 14:37

Mos* After saying I'm not a serial baby dropper, I was changing ds1's nappy, I put his shorts back onto his ankles, stood him up to pull them up, he turned back to the telly so I was behind him, and as I pulled, he fell face first. Has a little cut on his chin .
Keep me away from all small children! lol

mumoverseas · 02/06/2009 16:45

oh shit, so sorry LBB, hope I've not jinxed you! hope he is ok x
