Welcome back Dinky

Yes Spotty- they're only £4 a pair. And just as good as the ones I got from Next which were more than twice the price.

spottyshoes · 23/05/2009 09:03

fab, i'm there!

dinkystinky · 23/05/2009 11:13

Thanks Spotty - wasnt a huge surprise that my uncle passed away but coming hot on the heels of my aunt passing away its just all rather sad. So, £400 down and still not figured out where the leak is coming from upstairs but have figured out its the downstairs taps that are causing it to happen....

Spotty - have you tried white noise or natural sounds on loop on Sam? Honestly it worked wonders with getting DS1 to sleep for more than 40 minutes at a pop.

Next thread title - "F[l]ab Feb 2009: Primark pants and teething rants"???

nice weather? where?

been lashing here since the early hours. one of my cats was out last night and he was waiting on the doorstep doing a fair impersonation of a drowned rat when i came down.

had loads of gardening planned but will have to tackle my stinking cesspit of a house instead.... great

ds1 is being a little monster already, he's just chucked a cup of juice all over the dining room and torn dd's magazine [cracks open dinky's gin]

dinky YAHOO FOR POO ON THE LOO!!!! great stuff... still not cracked it here but ds1 is so excited about peeing standing up he's mostly dry now, except for one accident at toddler group yesterday.

right... off to scrub some bathrooms [dons bio hazard suit]

mumoverseas · 23/05/2009 13:54

afternoon all,

dinky, welcome back, glad you had a lovely holiday but so sorry about all the crap when you got back and particularly about your Uncle. Hope you and your mum are ok

LBB, fantastic news about your job. That will really boost your confidence and as others said, it just illustrates that you are a good mum

spotty, know what you mean about jobs. I simply haven't been able to work since out here in saudi (3 1/2 years now) so have used that time to do several distance learning courses as well as keeping up my CPD to keep my practicing certificate. So far I've done a really intensive family mediation course which required 3 x 1 weeks in London doing role plays etc and am currently almost half way through a counselling course and a collaborative law course. I'm not sure I want to go back into law when I return home permanently so am thinking of maybe setting up as a mediator or counsellor.
What exactly did you do before? sounds interesting although probably a bit stressful/upsetting too?

PT, well done for the sit ups. Remind me, what are tummy muscles?

Toilet training going pretty well. No accidents since the 2 x poos in pants (DD's not mine of course) on Thursday pm which was during DH's watch Had to laugh earlier as she can strolling to the bathroom whilst I was having a wee and said 'well done, well done mummy, good girl' whilst clapping her hands. Am wondering if I go that over the top when she performs
The other funny one was when she was having trouble flushing the toilet (push button one) and she kept pressing the button but not hard enough and gave a big sigh and said 'the batteries are gone'!

was a bit worried about H this morning as I suddenly noticed that one side of the back of his head is REALLY flat. I know a few of you have talked about this before but wasn't aware it could suddenly happen. He is always lying on his back so must try to ensure he goes on his side sometimes. I assume thats all I can do?

spottyshoes · 23/05/2009 13:58

I'm a prat

Did 'the deed' for the 1st time post baby

Didn't use contraceptive

It taken me over 12 hours to even realise

DICK!

PolkSaladLucie · 23/05/2009 14:08

Dick, indeed...

dinkystinky · 23/05/2009 14:20

Spotty - aiming subconsciously for a fab feb 2010 baby?

MoS - glad OPT is going better today. Lol at your DD applauding you on the loo...

So, plumber couldnt, after ££££s and ripping apart bathroom and floorboards in back bedroom upstairs, find out the cause of the leak which has now mysteriously stopped... sigh. And discovered today that the builder who painted the outside of our house before we went on holiday has painted all of our downstairs sash windows shut so we cant open them at all...Sometimes I swear this house is cursed.

mumoverseas · 23/05/2009 14:20

I second that nomination for 'dick of the week' award. Fingers crossed for you

dinkystinky · 23/05/2009 14:23

MoS - re H's head - yes, try changing his position (so in bouncer abit more, held up right, on tummy or other side) and repositioning him in his cot if he always turns to look a particular way when he goes to sleep.

Danny has clearly decided that sleep is for the weak today - quite glad that its DH's turn to take Danny for his swimming class this afternoon. DS1 and I will be going to buy a train instead as thanks to his brio birthday present set the boy is now obsessed with fast trains...

Ooh dear SS you might be joining the Fabe Febbers 2010
Dinky - glad holiday was good, well done to DS for his new found pooing abilities and about your uncle. Have you got the tyre fixed yet? Just asking because I had a flat on Tuesday up in London and the spare is a full on (not temp tyre) - and only got the spare done yesterday but I was quoted £179 by kwik fit and got a mobile company called e-tyres out to the house and it was £136 - I think you've got an Audi A4 too haven't you? www.etyres.co.uk here's the link. The service was very good so would highly recommend. I also reversed into a wall at the doctors surgery yesterday (DH not noticed yet but will try my best "really wonder how that got there ?"face) and the electric window on the driver side is now stuck and has to be pulled up manually using two hands . It's all flippin £££££££££££'s at the moment in the herb house too !

DH in the garden again but luckily DS is pottering round with him in his t-shirt and pants. He did a pee on the grass earlier and has now learnt that if he sticks his willy up high enough it makes a big arc.

DD seemed to sleep ok despite the 16 week jabs yesterday. She was really fractious yesterday afternoon so expected a wake up but didn't materialise.

Right - off to get DD from her snoozing...

herbgarden · 23/05/2009 14:27

cross posted Dinky - our old decorator did that too....he was a bit of an idiot too and although DH says he was great because he was cheap - I'd rather pay more and get a decent job ?!

spottyshoes · 23/05/2009 16:00

Hope the constant breastfeeding does the trick Was so wrapped up in the sheer terror of sex after stitches. Jeez I is stoopid.

I'm actually bricking it a bit now.

PinkTulips · 23/05/2009 16:35

spotty, i'm an even bigger prat... ran out of condoms last week and gave in to dp's 'i'll pull out' persuasion..... 3 guesses how that went

and that was right after aaron started sleeping through the night and not bf-ing at night is what triggered my periods both other times!

weather brightened up so used it as an excuse-- not to cleantook the opportunity to do some gardening. got loads done for once.. rebuilt the sandpit and filled it and whilst the kids worked tirelessly to distribute all the nice new sand all over the garden i got tonnes of planting done, garden is starting to look a little more loved now (and sandier)

Cocodrillo · 23/05/2009 16:41

can you take morning after pill when bfing?

you can take that 72 hrs after the deed i think? (trying to remember from accompanying my school friend to family planning 20 yrs ago! )

spottyshoes · 23/05/2009 17:08

Not sure Coco, need to pop to Boots and check it out. I'm guessing a 'no'.

OMG PT!!! I never thought I'd be greatful for Sam not sleeping through!! Could be you and me starting a new thread then

Cocodrillo · 23/05/2009 19:18

you'll be fine

PinkTulips · 23/05/2009 19:42

it'll be grand, i'm so unhealthy atm i doubt my body is capable of creating life

littleboyblue · 23/05/2009 19:55

dinky Hello. Missed you
Glad you had a good holiday, and yay to ds for pooing in the toilet and switching to standing up.
Shame it was not so good when you got home and I am so sorry about your uncle. Hope everyone is coping as well as you all can. x
You are yet again the master of thread titles. Has my vote.
mos Your dd's toilet coments has really made me laugh.
You can get helmets for flat head, but they are quite expensive. We decided not to go for the helmet because the issue is cosmetic and won't affect brain growth and development, although I would have tried to get one if the bones moving affected his face iykwim. Ds1's head is completely flat at the back, but you can't really tell now because of the hair and I have been told that it will get back to normal by the time he's 5.
spotty Oh dear. You can buy the morning after pill over the counter now and is effective up to 72 hours after, but obviously better the sooner you take it.
I'm sure it'll all be fine, nature's way and all of that.
dinky Not much luck on the house front at the moment. When I had my pub, all the upstairs windows had been painted closed, I ended up getting a crowbar to them and really f-ed up the paint work and frames

Luke has had a bad day today. He is def teething (think I've already said that...), he is constantly biting his fists and fingers so I bought him some teething rings which seemed to calm him a bit, been giving gel as well. He cried so bad this evening that I got the calpol out incase he was in bad pain with it. I tried to give it to him through a medicine dispenser dummy, but he didn't like that either.
He's in bed now and settled pretty well, so fingers crossed he stays asleep for a while.

Ds1 was really funny today. We ended up in Hounslow shopping. I try to let him walk as often as possible now and am trying to 'train' him off the reins. Anyway, we were in Wilkinsons and he was going over to all the shelves taking something off, would start to walk towards me so I'd tell him to go put it back, which he did, he had lots of people really laughing at him, but it took along time to get to the other end of the store. Literally, he picked up at least one item from every shelf! Apart from when we walked past the lamps and I was repeating "no touching, no touching"

MarkStretch · 23/05/2009 22:34

I too have been carefree and thrown caution to the wind.

You think we would learn by now really...

PinkTulips · 23/05/2009 22:40

the population would be plummeting if we were all sensible about these things

anyway, you're probably preggers already MS so no further harm done

elkiedee · 23/05/2009 22:41

Yikes at spotty and pink!

LBB, you're a braver woman than me re your ds1, and my DS1 is 3 months older.

elkiedee · 23/05/2009 22:44

I wonder who will be the first to be on a new antenatal thread!

littleboyblue · 23/05/2009 23:03

I think most people in our boat have had little 'accidents', I mean come on, we haven't had to think about protection for so long, add that to the infamous baby-brain, and.....
The time that I'e been on AB's since, I haven't done anything else (am on pill)
elkie what about the walking? It's all in a desperate attempt to be able to ditch the double pushchair before he's 3 and it cuts my smoking down. I don't smoke if he is on reins or running free, so the more often he's out of pushchair, the less I smoke. All good. Until he starts messing around, he sat down in the middle of the road earlier! Time's like that, I think I must be mad and strap him back in

littleboyblue · 23/05/2009 23:04

I'm putting my money on PSL being the first to have another one. Don't ask why, just a feeling I have
