Please vom immediately

spottyshoes · 22/05/2009 21:27

btw is it possible to search for someone on here when you dont really know their user name completely?

spottyshoes · 22/05/2009 21:34

swampy are you still about? I've lost the 'fight club' link and cant get on. Can you email it to me please? x

littleboyblue · 22/05/2009 21:56

thom Well done to Mr T. It's scary isn't it, how quick they get their independence and grow up.

Re weight. I have just seen some photos of myself taken at playgroup today that have been posted on fb (must remember to say thanks for that), and I look very big. That's not how I look in my head. My mantra is "My body looks like this for a reason, a reason I am proud of. My body looks like this for a reason, a reason I am proud of......" hope it works.

Did I mention that the surestart centre offered me a position in their creche? They said I can work there, 2 afternoons a week and work towards an NVQ level 2 in childcare and when completed, they'll find me a job placement.
After half term, I have to fill in that form for a background check and then they said I can have a go at it.

PinkTulips · 22/05/2009 22:04

woo hoo lbb

see, and ypou keep thinking everyone thinks you're a crap mom... how brilliant with kids must they think you are to offer you that?!

good luck with it!

i did some sit up yesterday. now my tummy hurts, i think i reminded some tummy muscles that they have another job other than convenient resting place for spare tyre... just need to eep it up now!

spottyshoes · 22/05/2009 22:13

Oh wow lbb how great!!! I really want to change jobs and get into something child orientated. I've recently been interested in becoming a Bf counsellor, does anyone know if they get paid???]

I took pics of myself 2wks after birth to motivate me into slimming but I was into my size 12 pre baby jeans and now i'm bigger

I've been doing my kickboxing dvd since sam was 8 wks old....can I kid myself it's now all muscle???

swampster · 22/05/2009 22:26

Done it, spotty, but don't say another word or I'd have to kill you!

Who are you stalking?

swampster · 22/05/2009 22:27

lbb, that sounds brilliant.

spottyshoes · 22/05/2009 22:33

[scared for her life emoticon]

I'm stalking someone off another site who's dropping me cryptic clues....

spottyshoes · 22/05/2009 22:34

and also 'thanks' btw

swampster · 22/05/2009 22:35

Oooooooh! Sounds cryptic, do I have to stalk you to find out more? [I am a well-armed loon emoticon]

littleboyblue · 22/05/2009 22:39

PT Yeah, it will do a bit for my confidence I think, but even if it doesn't work out, at least I'd have tried. There's no pressure though, we'll just see what happens. It's only because at some point, I will have to return to work of some kind, and if I can put on my cv that I was doing something while being a SAHM, it's a positive, even if I don't get as far as a work placement in this field iyswim.
Good luck with the sit-ups. If you're sore, you know you've done something, so that's good.
spotty I'd like to do something in the childcare field so that it'll fit around my ds's. In an ideal world, I would like to be the main care provider until they are adults, and hopefully something like this will enable me to. Plus it'll bring in a few extra £ and I can keep the boys with me at creche, so all good, plus it gets us out of the house.

I am sooooooo tired. I have to go to bed. I don't even know if I can be bothered to get off the sofa though!

I think ds1 said mummy today for the first time. It sounded like it.
I'm a bit because he can say the names of all the staff at the childrens centre who he see maybe 2/3 times a week, but he can't/won't say mummy and he hears that word a countless amount of times a day.

elkiedee · 22/05/2009 22:56

Congratulations lbb - hope it goes well.

spotty, there's volunteer and paid work in bf counselling - you can train through the various voluntary organisations and you won't have to pay for the training but then I think you're expected to do voluntary work.

I know two people employed as bf counsellors, one by the hospital where I had my babies and one by the local Prmary Care Trust (her actual job title is infant nutrition coordinator). I don't know their background before that but I suspect they started off qualifying as midwives/nurses/health visitors.

The NCT breastfeeding counsellor isn't paid for general counselling I don't think, but she is now teaching some courses on weaning and I think that she will be getting paid NCT teacher rates for that.

If you're able to do some voluntary work, I think you can train as a peer supporter initially and would probably be expected to do that and get a little more experience before moving on to bf counselling. Someone asked me if I was interested in a course the other day, and I'd love to do it but am returning to work full time office hours at the beginning of November. I may look though at whether I can use annual leave to finish the course (a couple of hours a week for 6 week) and then do some voluntary work a bit later.

spottyshoes · 22/05/2009 23:52

Ooo Ooo Ooo {happy face}

I apparantly dont need to do paid work (says DH) for a couple of years so I am sooo up for a bit of training in a field i'm actually interested in!!! It would be so nice not to represent kids in Crown Court who had stabbed an infant!! (please think the Jamie Bulger case and feel my pain! ) I have to get out of my shitty line of work no matter what!

Can anyone give me the details of the bf counselling?

littleboyblue · 22/05/2009 23:57

spotty great news! Not about your previous/current job though. Good luck with your new venture

MarkStretch · 23/05/2009 07:10

Hello

I didn't get wedged in the changing room although I too have a mahooosive arse. Spotty- did you buy any control pants in Primark? They are the most fantastic thing I have bought in a long while- they hold in the wobbly belly and love handles and make your holiday clothes look a lot better!

It's the bloody weekend and half term and I don't have to get up and do the school run and everyone was awake at 5.50am. Why does that happen?!

Off to neices (x 2) birthday party today in a soft play place so am preparing for lots of screaming infants. The only bonus is the soft play place does lovely hot chocolate with whipped cream.

(can you hear the creaking as my arse expands further?)

MarkStretch · 23/05/2009 07:11

LBB- good news on the job front, isn't it great when things like that happen? I guess it might also ease tensions between you and DP a little if you are earning a bit of your own money, you might feel a little less dependent on him.

littleboyblue · 23/05/2009 08:12

Morning MS Yes, hopefully.
Have a good day at the party.

Dp was back when me and Luke got up, but he let me go back to bed for a while which was lovely, so now I have to get us all dressed and go out for the day so he can get a decent sleep. I might go to Feltham and check out the £1 shops.

Luke is def teething. He looks like he has rabies with all this foaming at the mouth

dinkystinky · 23/05/2009 08:16

Morning all - I'm back and have quickly skimmed through to see how you're all doing. Am so sad to see so many people have been having a horrid time of it last week. Huge hugs to all those having hard times at the moment - especially Spotty (am soooooooo glad to see you posting and keeping us chuckling despite your sleep deprivation/tough time at the moment), STW (fingers crossed you get your referral - you're doing a brilliant job in really tough circumstances; please do get the PND checked out as being helped for that will making coping with everything else you need to cope with abit easier), LBB (hope all is and will be ok with your DP; hope that you do the creche volunteer thing - it will give you an outlet other than your boys to focus on and will hopefully help you feel better all round), Lardy (glad your DD is ok, hope the growth spurt ends soon - remember the 12 week growth spurt Danny had was v painful after 4 days of him sleeping through, glad your eyes are ok), Fififlores (welcome to the thread - hope your DD is ok with the rash and all) and all others who need hugs (particularly Operation Potty Training casualties, Pink and MoS). Also sending industrial quantities of gin to Pink to help her get through the weekend with 3 kids and no DP to help... Lovely to see you back Meely (and great to hear you and Chaz are having such a lovely time together - I too think Danny is easily the best thing that has happened in a truly shitty shitty year so far) and Questionkid (enjoy the cinema) and nice to see you posting again Sorky. Herb - happy anniversary; have a lovely time at dinner with DH. THOM - wow at Mr T's rolling abilities - you'll never be able to take your eyes off him again now...Also huge sympathies with those bemoaning the baby weight still clinging on to them - am feeling hugemongous here too (though wine and stinky cheese and baguettes by the truckload consumed last week obviously wont have helped shift any of the weight)....

So, holiday in France was lovely despite changeable weather and Danny having a couple of quite testy days and unsettled nights(bad cold again - sympathies to all those going through it) and our friends not making it over in the end. DS1 was brilliant all holiday though - oldest child in the gites (was a 2 1/2 year old girl and a 2 year old girl who he played with really nicely in the playbarn at the gites - the 2 year old had her birthday over there and we all had a lovely birthday barbeque with all the families to celebrate it - sadly ended due to rain after an hour or so but was fun while it lasted) AND mastered pooing in the loo due to promises of lollipops and an extra bedtime story each time he pooed (slightly worried he'll end up with no teeth at this rate but hey, at least his poos will be in the loo). Though we have to shout "Poo down the loo - Yahoo!" every time he does a poo - thought you'd appreciate that Pink and Swampy He's also moving to doing standing up loos and despite a couple of tiny wee accidents was great with long car journeys to the beach, amusement park, castles etc. Though holiday ended on a downer as we got home yesterday evening (after loooooooooooooooooong journey back from Portsmouth in bank holiday traffic) to find (i) tyre pressure issue with car - looks like a slow puncture somewhere so DH is going to have to spend £££s getting a new ridiculously expensive tyre for the car this morning and (ii) turned on tap in downstairs loo to find a leak coming through our kitchen roof - had emergency plumber out till 10.30 last night (more ££££s) who couldnt find the leak so he's coming back again this morning armed with drill and saw to try to find it again (more £££s). Had only just got the builder out of the house - will have to get him back to sort out the bathroom again! and (iii) my uncle over in India (who had been very ill for a while) died while we were in holiday - he was my mum's oldest brother (and a genius - a chess grand master no less!) and its really hit her hard. Ho hum...Oh, and Danny also has been up from 4.30ish last night (after waking every hour and a half in the night) and only napping for 30 minutes so far today so my chilled rested holiday mood has definitely disappeared. Still at least its going to be nice weather today hopefully so will be getting the boys out into the garden while the chaos goes on inside...

P.s. Spotty - lovely cardy. I'd wear it with a black vest top, indigo blue jeans and boots - but then I'm more of a casual jeans kind of person...

Welcome back dinky

spottyshoes · 23/05/2009 08:49

Sam has been mostly up since 12 DS1 has been up several times too

Thanks so much for those links elkiedee. May have to join the NCT.

Dinky, glad you had a good holiday and well done DS1 - yahoo! We're off in a couple of weeks, hope the weather picks up a bit. Sorry about your mamoth sounding expenses, it doesn't rain but it pours

Do they do control pants in Primark MS??? I didn't get a decent look round as I spent most of it being elbowed out the way by over excited yoofs trying to spend their pocket money. Must go back and get some!

spottyshoes · 23/05/2009 08:50

Oh and both DC's appear to have colds so we're joining the rapidly expending club

spottyshoes · 23/05/2009 08:51

and so sorry to hear about your Uncle Dinky
