Coram's Fields has some good pubs nearby!

For drinkers (and even teetotallers who like having much more space than in any cafe), there's a lovely really baby-welcoming pub in Crouch End - I discovered it through a local Mumsnet meet up - Netmums were having a meet up on the next table (really!). It's a shame it's rather out of the way from just about anwhere except Crouch End/Muswell Hill.

hi all - those of you with more than 1 child - hats off to you. having t here has been a shock, although he's very good and in awe of john's guitars and comp games, we've been late to school twice this week!

m has an awful cough here - i'm so annoyed, i wanted to go swimming with her tomorrow. she had a total screaming fit last night

stw - m is on nutramigen. i'll fb you.

well done for the weight loss and the 4 years, herby!

crap, lardy, didn't know about the measals. how was o's paed appoinment?

apologies for drastic lack of capitalisation. trying to type, settle m and give t some tea...

PSL Look at you multi-tasking At least now you know you'll manage when you have more dc's.

Ds1 has been driving me insane today. Everytime I popped out of the room, to get a drink, or to pee, or to get something from the kitchen, I'd come back and he'd be sitting in the baby bouncy chair, which would be fine, if Luke wasn't already in it!!!! Poor thing was sat on twice today but that fatty! he's also been screaming all day, and only wants to hug me when I'm feeding Luke, so the jealousy's getting tough again. He doesn't understand that he can't throw himself on us and I don't really know the best way to handle it.

fififlores · 21/05/2009 21:51

LBB I get the same jealousy thing with ds1. tough as dd feeds for hours at a time, literally, and think ds1 gets pretty pissed off, jealous, bored etc. what i try to do (ha, once in a blue moon) is use what miniscule amount of dd-free time i have for ´´quality time´´ with ds1 - yesterday, an hour of reading books together, which i could see he absolutely loved. it was Very Important Time for both of us, and we both really appreciated it.

Re your ds1 sitting on ds2, that is so classic - mine gets into other´s cot, pram, seat at first opportunity. if it´s potentially dangerous to the wee one, I am pretty vocal and tell him off strongly (OK, i shout, which actually works, though i know it´s not very PC - worked a treat the time he painted her head pink with a highlighter - didn´t try that one again). if not hazardous, i try to be a bit more reasonable.

littleboyblue · 21/05/2009 22:06

fifi I did shout at my ds1, he is only 21 months, but I threw myslef on the floor and put my finger in his face and yelled "NO. You mustn't sit on him, he is too small. Go and sit in YOUR chair" He put his face in the rug and stayed there for a while. When he stood up, I told him to say sorry to Luke. He went and gave him a kiss, but then sat oon him again........
Can I really take one of them with me evry time I leave the room? Just for a second? I think the answer is yes until ds1 realises what he can and can't do.

littleboyblue · 22/05/2009 04:34

It's only half past 4!!!!!! Hope Luke goes back to sleep after this bottle. He still looks wide awake

thehouseofmirth · 22/05/2009 05:33

We've been awake since 4.40am here too...

mumoverseas · 22/05/2009 07:15

morning all,
sorry some of you have been up so early. I had a bad night too. It was DHs turn to sleep in the spare room last night and so sods law, DD strolled in at around 11pm and woke up H and I and then the whole night the pair of them were waking each other up. Feel like a zombie this morning

herby, hope DD manages to avoid the measles.
so jealous of your weight loss only 4 - 5lbs to go! I've got around 3 stone to go and no matter how hard I try it just won't shift. I'm starving all the time. Whoever said the weight drops off when you b/f is lying, lying I tell you

PT, its a funny feeling when they start school. A few of DD's friends will start in foundation 1 in September as they were born a few months before her and they are having assessments next month. Quite a few mums are worried about the assessments as the little loves are still very young

LBB I get that with DD and DS. At times she gets jealous and wants to snatch what he has or wants to climb into his swinging chair etc and no matter how many times we tell her/shout at her she just still does it. It is hard work and it must be worse for you as your DS1 is younger than my DD who should understand right from wrong by now.

Hope you and THOM managed to get back to sleep

littleboyblue · 22/05/2009 07:48

thom . I did go back to bed though in the end, I got Luke in with me.
mos sorry you had bad night.
I was talking to a friend about this the other day, I reckon it's easy to forget that my 21 month old is still pretty much a baby, and since Luke arrived, I may have been expecting a bit too much from him.
I do feel bad when I tell him off, it's not his fault, is it?
Playgroups today.
Better get a move on.
I joined the FLYladies the other day, so have a new morning routine I'm trying to finalise

littleboyblue · 22/05/2009 08:14

OMG. I went to the bathroom to turn the shower on, came back into the living room and Luke has a grape in his mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG OMG OMG
Ds1 is a good boy for sharing but I can never leave them unattended even for the shortest time again!!

spottyshoes · 22/05/2009 09:03

Oh dear llb! I'm pretty sure Sam is secretly being weaned on organix gingerbread men by ds1 as I have found a crumb or 2 on his lip recently. Aren't they wonderful for sharing so well

Off shopping today for holiday clothes. I'm actually growing out of the few clothes that actually fit. Have put on 4lbs Time to ditch the midnight snacks of tiger bread toast with lashings of butter

mumoverseas · 22/05/2009 09:32

bloody hell LBB, that is scary.

spotty, you are not alone I lost loads of weight the first few weeks after Harrison was born and even managed to get back into my size 14 trousers 2 weeks after his birth but since then I've moosed out again and even though I keep trying really hard on my diet I don't seem to be able to lose anymore. Wouldn't mind if it was just the odd few pounds to lose < at herby> but I have around 3 stone to lose

Just seen something really scary on a chat thread. Some crazy woman who found out she was pregnant when her DD was 6 months old. And wait for it, she was 5 MONTHS PREGNANT so has a 9.5 month gap. Holy shit

PinkTulips · 22/05/2009 10:06

i'm gaining weight too... i always do in the first few months of bf-ing. it's all the snacks combined with having to sit on your arse feeding for hours a day. i think the body stores fat more readily when your feeding to as an emergancy stash for baby [makes up science to feel better]

bloody depressing though

i've been lucky this time as both dd and ds1 are very good with aaron. this morning he was in his rocker and dd was rocking him nicely, ds1 saw and said 'oooh, that might be fun' and sat down the other side of the rocker to help he was in the bed with us this morning and held aaron's hand for ages giving him kisses and snuggles. am bracing myself for all hell to break loose once aaron starts playing with their toys though

mos, my cosins wife found ut she was preg when her dd was 4 months, and she was 2 months gone... 11 month gap so she now has irish twins

littleboyblue · 22/05/2009 12:05

I know! I was telling the mum's (and dad) about it at playgroup, they all thought it was quite funny

A boy at group (who I have mentioned before) pushed and hit ds1, and his mum said "you deserve to have Jacob hit you back, you are a orrible little boy. You won't ever have any friends if you carry that on."
She then told Jacob to hit her son back, so I had to have a word.

Weight, don't think I'm putting any on, but I am not weighing myself and have to intention to ever again . I did have to sew the fastening back on my trousers yesterday though..........

My aunt has an 11 month age gap between 2 of hers. Maybe it'd be a bit easier to have them 10/11 months apart than older? Dunno. Ds1 didn't even crawl til he was 10 months, so maybe if Luke was born around then, I wouldn't have to worry so much about the violence?

herbgarden · 22/05/2009 13:30

hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend.....

Off to friends this afternoon but we're just mooching around the house and hopefully garden - weather looks good doesn't it?

DD had her 16 week jabs (she's 17 weeks today) today - screamed the place down but hope she'll be ok - she's asleep right now. I remember DS got a really swollen leg after these ones as it's 3 jabs - 2 in one and one in the other. Weirdly, DS who is a sensitive soul, watched on quite interested while it was being done . I really thought it would upset him but he told her that the "nice lady was making her better" and then gave her a kiss.

MOS - Don't worry I too feel pretty peckish most of the time so it ain't easy and I reckon the last 4 - 5lbs are going to be hard partiuclarly as we're off on hols in a week or so and I always get hungry sitting around doing not very much. My lovely mum had made a victoria sponge yesterday afternoon when I went over. My sister (the bride to be) is on some weirdo diet (not my cup of tea) and she's lost 10lbs in 2 weeks but is most definitely not allowed cake. I am avoiding the cake so DS and my mums friend tucked in. My mouth was watering just looking at it. DS and I are out for lunch on Sunday for our w/anniversary so I'm determined to have some nice things then as a treat.

Right, signing off and will check in later/over the weekend.

herbgarden · 22/05/2009 13:34

"DS" - I don't think so I mean DH !!....

LBB - I hate it when people tell my DS to do something I don't agree with.

PinkTulips · 22/05/2009 15:34

not quite in the same legue but one of the grannies at toddler group today gave ds1 about 3 fairy cakes despite me not really wanting him to have them.... poor dd couldn't have them and i don't normally let him have anything she can't when they're together. luckily i found an abandoned rice krispie square she could have but if it hadn't been for that it would have been really horrible for her watching ds1 stuff his face with something she couldn't have.

dp has fecked off for the weekend to his parents leaving me with a sick grumpy baby, a nightmare ds1 and a whingy dd by myself until monday these are the same parents who haven't yet been arsed to come see aaron ffs!

MarkStretch · 22/05/2009 16:01

I lost you all. Just off to the shops. Will post later, it's been too long....

thehouseofmirth · 22/05/2009 17:49

Oh blimey, Tarran's rolled from back to front twice today. Now the fun really starts...

Cocodrillo · 22/05/2009 19:36

Oh, PT, I am on your behalf.

I am really porky. After DD1 the weight dropped off, and I was back to normal within a month or two, after DD2 I kept on an extra stone, and that stone is not shifting. It wouldn't be so bad, but I think it is a stone of belly fat. Urgh. And I can't stop eating: massive portions of pasta, loads of thick bread covered in butter, and the biscuits! I can put handfuls of the gorgeous feckers away every day.

spottyshoes · 22/05/2009 21:01

I'm fat....I'm frumpy....and really very lumpy...#

I chanted that the whole time I tried on holiday clothes today

God have I got a huuuuuuuuuuuuuugge frickin assssssssssssss I blame cheap shops for small sizings though I

spottyshoes · 22/05/2009 21:02

MS has been at the shops a long time...

spottyshoes · 22/05/2009 21:04

I'm sure she isn't wedged in a changing room thanks to a giant ass like I was though

(we need a humiliated emoticon)
