Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

morning all,

LBB, sounds like you have three little boys in your house, not two
fair enough, you screamed and shouted at him (as we all do at times) but you were big enough to accept you'd perhaps behaved badly and apologised for this in the form of a letter. He is behaving like a 2 year old for not reading/acknowledging it properly.

*lardy, glad your DD is a bit better. Hope all ok with your eyes. I have to have those tests now that I'm and because glaucoma runs in the family. My dad had it and had a few ops on his eyes before he died and my mum had one of her eyes done a few weeks ago. Hopefully her sight is a lot better now and she will be able to see her youngest and LAST grandchild properly when she meets him last month. Probably won't have a clue who he or even I am but never mind

fifi, know how you feel about the bedroom department. It is hard isn't it. Others are right when they say many couples just don't function properly without it. I think I'm just dreading it for a few reasons, mainly risk of another DC but also, feel so self concsious about my spare (from a truck) tyre. DH says it doesn't matter to him (he is not exactly skinny) but it matters to me.

Right, had a manic morning, up at around 5am to shower then baked some fresh banana muffins for the cake sale today (they are best on the day) yesterday did flapjacks and choccie muffins which I iced at some ungodly hour. have been and watched them 'toddle' around the playing field as clowns. DD would not co-operate and have her face painted when DH took her down there at 7am so I then had to take her back at 8am and she still didn't co-operate so just wore here clown outfit and a hat I'd made (for all of around 5 mins) managed to get a few photos and will try to work out how to add them to my profile. Going to take the cakes down in a bit for the cake sale to try to raise a bit more money for the charity

Very stressy morning as DS had his final arabic exam, the written one which he was shitting himself about. I kept saying it didn't matter as he already has an A grade in French which he did when 13 but he is worried he'll not do well enough, ie only a C or D. I'd be over the moon with a C.

Right, dashing, god knows why I'm not a bloody size 8 all the running around I'm doing!

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 08:01

MOS I know. Thank you. I did winder whether he's just not keen on getting into a deep conversation because he's worried about what might be said? I know he worries about my reactions to things? Maybe he feels like he can't be open and honest with me because he fears I'll lose my rag . I know it's mostly all my own fault. I need to make a huge effort to control myself in future.
Have a good day, sounds like you've done loads already, and just reading that has made me want to go for a nap!
Hope your ds does well on his exam, I'm sure he will, and like you say, a C is a great result.
I'm in no major rush to get sorted today. I ave to go to shops, but then not got any plans until playgroup at 3:30. They are serving cottage pie for the kids tea tonight. Should be interesting......

mumoverseas · 20/05/2009 09:30

durr, NEXT month even

SweetTalkinWoman · 20/05/2009 10:45

Once again, long time no see! Sorry to keep disappearing. A quick update on Sam - I ended up in A&E last night after another day of hell. Sam crying all day, couldn't breathe through nose, looked like he'd been dunked in a pot of boiling water etc.... I just gave in and was sooooo fed up, I even cried in front of the NCT girls that afternoon . Anyway, long story short, it could be a dairy allergy, or he could just be unlucky - we won't know unless he gets tested. So, back to the GP this morning (a different one) who is now concerned enough about the breathing that we have an inhaler and mask to stop it developing into bronchiolitis (sp?), more creams and he will prescribe some dairy free formula if I can find out which one to use, because he didn't have a clue . Does anyone know anything about Neocate or Nutramigen?

Anyway, I asked to be referred for allergy testing but he too resisted, so I'm going to look at some sort of private thing - I just want the eczema etc to be correctly managed.

Right, need to try the inhaler for a first time now, and the next lot of antibiotics are due. I haven't even had a change to focus on me and the potential PND but have the health visitor coming round tomorrow....

Will try to catch up on the thread at some point, but also need to try and grab 40 winks after my late night !

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 11:45

STW Stay away from private tests for allergies. Complete rip off!!!!!!!!!! Seriously. Keep pushing your gp, failing that, get your discharge papers out from when Sam was born, at the top there will be the name of his paed at the hospital. Call him/her direct and explain all these issues.
Get on fb girlie and accept my friend request please.

I know that with all these issues re lo's yourself is the last thing on your list, but if you don't look afetr yourself, who will look after your babies? If you think you have a touch of PND, depending on how serious you think it is, you may find it easier to cope once you have addressed your issues. Hope that doesn't sound harsh......

lardybump · 20/05/2009 14:16

All ok here. The presure test came back within normal bounderies so I can breath again now.. argggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 14:19

Good.

lardybump · 20/05/2009 14:46

DD keeps laughing at my glasses, she has never seen me wearing glasses.... Is it normal for them to be making me feel abit lightheaded? Never worn them before...

thehouseofmirth · 20/05/2009 17:43

Lardy glad eyes OK. The lightheadedness is probably because your prescription has changed.

herbgarden · 20/05/2009 18:14

lardy it's quite normal..I always feel very odd when my prescription changes even a little bit so wearing them for the first time will take some getting used to.

STW - I remember having some allergy testing done years ago at the ENT place near Grays Inn Road by a Rhinologist - I am allergic to a lot of things but I'm sure I was referred there (rather than me just choosing it privately IYSWIM) - might sound odd going to an ENT hospital but the allergy things are often related to these parts of the body - I had exczma as a child and then now have allergies to lots of things and also asthma.....but I found out what I was allergic too from those tests. Might be worth a think ? I think you also might be in London.

Anyway, off to bath my grubby pair.

herbgarden · 20/05/2009 18:20

STW - just checked and they do have an allergy dept there still comes under Royal Free Hospital now.

www.royalfree.nhs.uk/default.aspx?top_nav_id=3&sel_left_nav=40&tab_id=547

Not sure whether they'd deal with babies too (can't see why not) - but might be worth a try - I remember finding it really helpful.

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 19:14

lardy Yeah, pretty normal to feel a bit odd at first, it's your eyes getting used to not having to do as much work! I got new glasses a month or so back, and the ground was moving for a couple of days, so if I was walking a bit funny at the last meet, this is why

Not much to share really.

SweetTalkinWoman · 20/05/2009 19:59

Thanks Herbgarden maybe I'll give them a call for a chat. Although my GP phoned me this afternoon to say he can't prescribe me dairy free formula unless Sam's undergone allergy testing - so looks like maybe I will get a referral! Fingers crossed as I can't face this quality of life for too much longer!

LBB you are probably right - I do need to get myself sorted, but I do think that my problems stem mostly from Sam being such an "unsettled" baby. If I can turn him into a contented little baby, I'll be a contented mum - I hope. However I need to be on top of things in order to care for the kids properly so it is important that I speak to the HV and GP - which I will do tomorrow. I promise! It'll be the fourth visit this week - they already know me by name .

I've been trying to type this poat for nearely an hour but Sam's soooo unsettled tonight I've been up with him . He sounds like Darth Vader still, it's not right. we;ve had to put him in his own room already because you just can't sleep with his breathing.

Sorry, gotta go.....

PS - have accepted your Facebook Friend request LBB!

elkiedee · 20/05/2009 20:10

Hi all

Am reading and sympathising with people but often get interrupted just as I've caught up reading and before I've had a chance to send an intelligible post. And then in the evenings once C is settled I doze off on the sofa!

MOS, whereabouts are you when you're over here?

Questionkid · 20/05/2009 21:05

Just popping on quickly to say to LBB that I like the idea of giving Alex some tummy time on my tummy. When I'm holding him I think he's got really good control of his head. He does the usual nodding dog thing after a while, but I see that in all babies of his age so I don't worry about that. I don't think the lack of tummy time is causing him any real problems, and it's good to hear that I'm not the only one who has a baby who isn't good at it. We've been trying lying him over a sausage shaped cushion, which seems to help him out. But I'll also definitely try him on my tummy.

I'm off again now, we're off to my parents for 5 days from Friday so lots to prepare. They're babysitting on Sunday while me and DH go to the cinema and out for dinner. This'll be the first time we've been out on our own since Alex was born, we're looking forward to some couple time.

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 21:45

STW Poor Sam. It does sound like the poor little thing is having a rough time. I really hope they will be able to get some sort of treatment underway for him soon.
QK I was talking to some mum's at playgroup today who told me I could try a rolled up blanket under his chest whilst he is laying on his front. It is supposed to encourage them to keep their head up and get them to use their arms for support. Seems way too early for that though. I'm not a huge fan on making a baby do or be in a position that they don't like. If this means that my dc's are doomed to be 'late' developers, then so be it. As long as it all gets done at some stage.
Luke can roll onto his side, I think now it is more of a controlled movement than a random one, but not completely iyswim.
Like I said yesterday, ds1 had very little tummy time because he really didn't like it. He rolled at 3.5 months, sat at 5, crawled at 10, stood at 12 and walked at 14, so all in all, not hugely out of the 'norm'.

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 21:46

Also, I hope me and dp can go to the cinema next week. I really want to see Angels & Demons.

lardybump · 20/05/2009 21:50

I have become an aunty again. My sister had a little girl this afternoon....

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 21:51

Ahhh Congratulations lardy. Name? Weight? Gory details? How are they both doing?

Cocodrillo · 20/05/2009 21:52

I've not been to the cinema since DD1 was born in 2004! You deserve a date night though, LBB. QK DD1 missed her milestones for supporting her head at 45 and 90 degrees on her tummy because she would not tolerate the position at all. She crawled late (11 months) but it hardly matters in the scheme of things.

lardybump · 20/05/2009 22:01

Name Grace Mary-Anne
Weight 8lb 2oz
elective C section and it is her 5th baby but the second lightest... Last one was 11lb 4 and an emergancy c section. Apparently it took ages because they had done a bodge job last time. She is up near you LBB in cockham (think that is near you anyway!!! and i think I have spelt that right as well it looks a bit rude doesn't it ) Cant wait to meet my neice!!!

littleboyblue · 20/05/2009 22:06

I love the name Grace. Wow at 11lber!

Have not heard of Cockham......but geography is not my strong point, so it could be right here

I am not enoying all this period stuff. Bak ache, cramps, I hate it!

PinkTulips · 20/05/2009 22:13

congrats to your sister lardy

not been able to post mch the last few days... aaron is down with a cold again so miserable.. plus he's drooling so much his clothes are soaked through after 2 mins wear so think the teeth are really annoying him now.

he was awake screaming last night for ages poor thing.

he's still regecting the dummy but now that he can use his hands better has taken to grabbing whatever blanket or cloth he can reach and sucking on it i left a cardigan in his carseat on hs lap today and he sucked on it so much while we were out it was soaked through! daft child

lardybump · 20/05/2009 22:17

Oh LBB not the dreaded period!!! I am not looking forward to that one.

A question for you all, is DS covered for measels as i am bf him? There is an outbreak in our area and I am worried for him... DP and I were talking tonight and I have decided to BF at least until he has his MMR if this is so!

mslucy · 20/05/2009 22:33

Stan does tummy time lying on top of me in bed in the mornings - his favourite position.

I find they just puke loads if you pop them on their tum too much!

Have a spot on my face which makes me wonder about a period being on its evil way, but didn't get one for ages after DS1, so could just be tiredness/the pepperoni pizza I had for dinner last night

Hope you ladies who are having a hard time are feeling better - even if it's just a little bit better.
