Hi girls, thought I would start a new thread as DD2 is one on Thursday .

Can you believe a whole year has passed already?

HM LOL at your little independent DS...I know what you mean. DD2 is v cute but also getting v independent. I do a mix of spoon feeding and finger feeding (I know not BLW as such). She is thankfully a very clean eater like her sister...it must be genetic!
I know people will slate me for this, but I really couldn't cope with all that mess. My days are demanding enough!

Joking aside, the latest version of Christopher Green's 'Toddler Taming' is brilliant.

Big news in the lucky household...DD2 took 3 steps on her own today!!! So she may well be proper walking before her birthday (you've got 2 days DD2....no pressure!)

Still no sign of chicken pox.....

He was obviously waiting for his audience (his lovely little sis)

Mitchell81 · 15/08/2009 16:51

Yeah Harimo, well done DS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DS2 is now standing in the middle of the room and taking steps. just shows once they get it they develop so quickly.

baiyu · 16/08/2009 22:25

Hooray for walking! Finn has been walking unaided for about a month and a half I think, it's funny how soon you forget that they haven't always been able to do it! He now loves to push his buggy everywhere, he's done over a mile in one go
Very of all these words though, we sometimes have 'dada' but not always and nothing else. He does babber away nonstop so I'm sure we'll get there! Maybe I should stop pretending to understand his babble?!

Cot/bed saga continues, we've tonight moved him into the travel cot instead (much higher sides) as this last week sleep has really gone downhill and we've not been able to use the 'toddler taming' methods as he just gets out of bed and comes into ours. He never fell out and was very happy getting in and out of a grown up bed but we're just not so happy at not being able to contain him! We'll see how it goes, he hasn't woken up yet but I expect it won't be long!

HM Can we please have some more photos of your lovely little lady?
She's beau-tiful! And making me broody (Though my periods still haven't come back so am having lots of tests )

Meant to be working on my play but am on here and making trial wedding cakes, oops! Night all x

Niknak21 · 17/08/2009 07:45

Trial wedding cakes, sounds yummy!

Wedding anniversary coming up and I finally booked a night in the hotel we got married in. Parents coming to look after DSs but we might take them with us when we check in to show DS1 where Mummy and Daddy got married. He's been to loads of weddings in his little life, and remembers my bro's last year. His 1st wedding he was 5 weeks old, DS2 beat him being only 3 days old at my Bro's

Harimosmummy · 17/08/2009 11:42

Oh, Baiyu - that made me LOL!! We have a few words, but Haribo babbles away constantly, and acts like he is really talking and I just act like I have a complete understanding of what he is saying!!! People must think I'm mad (no comments on that one please! ) I am sure it helps - his comprehension is now really good and he understands alot of what I say to him - If I point out a cat or dog etc., he'll look around for it, so he's def. listening and taking what I say in!

I really feel for you about the sleeping... I have a 'vintage' travel cot (AKA it is very heavy!!!) but it is wonderfully stable, proper metal contruction and pops up and down in 2 seconds with one hand. I wonder if you could find one of those? I got this one off freecycle

I am going to try and get somephotos of DD today. Haribo has just gone for a nap, so I'm expecting her to wake up any second (I swear to god, there is an invisible baton being passed between them!!!!!) It's pretty impossible to get any with Haribo about cos he's such a poser

Niknak - sounds like a lovely plan for your wedding anniversary. It's my DH's birthday on Weds and I haven't got him a single thing. He is simply impossible to buy for. I hope you have a lovely time, with or without the DSs.

Life here is good. I'm finding Haribo's walking a huge benefit, because it means I don't have to carry him everywhere, but he still wants to hold my hand, so he's easy to control DH is away all week again. i know there is nothing I can do about it, but it's far from ideal - for either of us.

Hope everyone else is well.

Best get on before Imobo (please... suggestions for NN please... My brain is numb!) wakes up.

luckymummy74 · 17/08/2009 17:42

HI all,

Lots of odd words here....DD2 has a very chatty big sis to copy .

She also walks around the house pointing her finger and shouting 'Nahhh!' (No). Can't think where she gets that from?! .

Got her out the bath earlier and she was saying 'Baby' and I realised that it's cos I usually do 'rock-a-bye-baby' with her all cuddled up in her towel (awww).

She went down a massive slide at the park today, probably 20 foot high!!! She loved it.

Also starting to feed herself with a spoon which is nice....things definitely getting easier although she makes up for it by being 'into everything'!!!!

Well girls, I'm going on a stag do tonight!!! Ha ha ha, just one of my good mates from work getting married and we're having a meal out with everyone from work. Not your typical stag do!

Countdown on now til little sis's wedding day....12 days to go! Trying to decide whether to let DD2 'walk' down the aisle in front of sis and my Dad, with me and DD1. I know DD1 will be fine but DD2, although a good walker, can have a bit of a strop and just sit on the floor. Not normally a problem but i will be in very high heels ( and not used to walking in heels!) and I don't wanna topple over!!! I take her up to communion each week at mass and usually end up having to carry her. I'm hoping if DH is at the top of the church she will just run up to him, which I thought would be quite cute!!!

Sorry, I know it's only a minor thing but just wondered what you all thought as you have DC's the same age....would you risk it??!!

Still in the process of applying for a new job. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!!

HM can you put some photos of IMO on your profile please so that I can see the her?? Ta.

Best go, girls watching their 'quiet time DVD' early so that Mummy can get them into bed early and get ready to go out!!! [bad mummy].

I'd let her walk, and hope for the best

Mitchell81 · 17/08/2009 21:07

LM I agree with the cuteness/ adorable factor with her walking down the aisle. You could always get DH to come fetch her if she stops halfway down. I hope we get to see photos for a limited time.

DS1 starts nursery tomorrow at DD school. Only found out 2 weeks ago as Playgroup had to close at the last minute. Scottish schools start tomorrow so get back to normal after 6 weeks off.

I even went out and bought a Phil and Teds double that DD can fit into with doubles kit and buggyboard so that I could get out on my own with all three. thought the holidays were going to drag but they went so quickly.

Niknak21 · 18/08/2009 21:18

Mitchell I had a lovely thought of you this morning as I pushed my Phil and Teds to nursery, you with 3 on board! Loaded up and ready to go. I hope the new term goes well, wont' it be easier with only one place to drop off? Enjoy the normality.

Mitchell81 · 19/08/2009 07:22

Niknak I do think of a pack horse when I use it with all three.

Yes it is all good that it is at the same place, we live behind the school so walk back and forth afew times a day as DS1 is at different times to DD.

What rubbish weather we are having at the moment, haven't seen the sun in days.

thefortbuilder · 19/08/2009 12:28

mitchell our sun is out here finally properly! 30 degrees today

LM I'd let her walk too

we also have nooooooooooooooo with frantic shaking of head in our house now....especialy when asked for a kiss!

not much else to report here - no real progress on the wlaking - he's so quick shuffling around on his bottom that he's really lazy with walking, unless you're holding a biscuit out for him, or something else he wants to eat bloater!

luckymummy74 · 19/08/2009 19:53

luckymummy'smummy is here tonight!! DH at work so just me, Mum and Sis. Mum said it was our hen night.....LOL!!!! Salmon and potatoes and a magnum....craaazeeee!

OP posts:
Harimosmummy · 19/08/2009 19:58

Gosh yes, Flick, the weather has been divine here too today!!

LM - I agree with the others.. let DD2 walk but have a plan of who will rescue her if she takes a detour!
Fingers still crossed for the job!

All good here... A bit too tired to think at the mo, so apologies... I'm only replying to the posts I can see!!

Haribo is being wonderful - proudly showing off his new found independance at every opportunity and also frantically shouting NOOOOOOOOO (and shaking his head) at pretty much everything (Including things he actually really enjoys!!!! - If I offer to take him out, he shouts NOOO until I take him to the door and say 'out there?' and then nothing can stop him!! On the downside, he has discovered our garden (which is flippin' massive!!) so he wants to be out there all the time!!!!

Imo is doing well too - putting weight on really, really well.

Right... bed is calling!!

Niknak21 · 20/08/2009 15:47

HM I've only ever been able to reply/comment on posts I can see!

I've just been to visit my friend who's over for the summer from Abu Dhabi (the one who had the amnio). So she's having the double buggy dilemma. The age gap between 2 and 3 will be 19 mnths, should she go for a phil and teds (sport, not vibe) or a nipper 360? She needs to take it back next Thursday with her. What does everyone think. I would start a thread, but still don't know how......

Anyway we had a lovely lunch, mine are both in nursery today so we got to chat. But going to try Marwell on Monday with all 4 hooligans, should be fun.

Re the weather, thought we were having a storm today, some rain this am but it turned out nice again

monkeysmama · 20/08/2009 16:35

Good afternoon girls

I am listening to dd play with an Italian game of Old MacDonald on my iphone and though it is giving me 5 minutes to catch up it is driving me crazy!!!!

Glad to read everyone seems to be doing well.

LM I'd give it a go with dd going up the aisle. Dd has been walking since early May and I think she'd be able to do it unless her nan or someone with a satsuma lured her off course. Having dp stand at the end and wait for her sounds lovely. That's what I'd do.

Went to the park yesterday with my mate and her two ds' (3 and 1.5) and it was a bit sad! Dd loves her boys and we see them a lot but they were really violent with her (stones were thrown) and she kept saying "good girl" over and over through her tears. The little one grabbed her by her collar and pulled her top until she was, literally, choking. My heart leapt and when we got home she was so sad and continued with "good girl" until bedtime.

Bilingual kids often start speaking a bit later than others but dd seems very keen to make herself understood. She has about 30 words ranging from "mama", "daddy", "there" and "nonna" (my mum) to "gatto" (cat in It), "grazie" and "hello" and others she is trying to say but not quite there with. My own personal favourite is "luff" (an attempt at love which I shout to her all the time). It makes me melt .Dd is obsessed with telephones and can often be found in random strangers' bags looking for their mobiles . I suppose I've encouraged it with the bus thing on my phone but she'd been playing with them for ages beforehand and this was to keep her a bit, ahem, quiet!

On the potty front - I'll buy one when I get to a shop but am not in a mad panic to do it. Thanks for all youe posts.

HM - how's dd? I'd love to see some photos so let us know if you put a few on your profile.

Right, off to the park for a stroll before in rains again. I only seem to go out just before it rains at the moment!

Have a nice evening everyone.

MM ( and Minimonkey who has helped and is responsonble for any typos)

Niknak21 · 21/08/2009 07:39

Morning,

I went to visit my friend yesterday whos' over from Abu Dhabi for the summer. She's going to have 19 mnths between number 2 and 3, anyone got any ideas on whether she should go for a nipper 360 or a phil and teds (Sport not vibe). I'm sure you can use the maxi cosi cabrio on top of the phil and teds with the doubles kit, not idea but can be done.... Any thoughts anyone?

Would start a thread, but still don't know how .

Air show this weekend round us, so will be busy. Got most of DH's family visiting tomorrow, only half of them were invited, the rest just invited themselves! I wouldn't mind, but his 2 brothers want to stay tonight, but won't turn up til between 10 and 11, I'll probably be in bed....

Have a good weekend everyone

Niknak21 · 21/08/2009 07:41

Just realised I already posted yesterday, thought I had, but couldn't see it

Mitchell81 · 21/08/2009 08:29

Niknak, I would recommend Phil and Teds (I have the Vibe) over the nipper as it is very wide. Hope it will arrive before she leaves.

Harimosmummy · 21/08/2009 08:36

I'd recommend the P&Ts too.

I have the sport and I love it.

Currrently using it for Imo and Haribo and I love it.

I currently have it in the 'newborn' setting for Imo, and the front seat for Haribo so waiting to see if they get on with the back seat (once Imo is 3 months or thereabouts) and if they do, I'm going to get a vibe.

Harimosmummy · 21/08/2009 09:01

couple of photos of my babes on my profile now...

will take some better ones soon!!!

Saturday night and I am glossing the skirting board in the lounge .

Had the lounge plastered and painted but decorator not great at edges so I have just done the woodwork. New sofa coming Weds, large corner unit, cannot wait...been without our lounge for 6 weeks .

One week til little sis's wedding!!!!

Can't comment on double buggy as I had neither of what you are talking about. I believe the Phil & Teds are v popular??

Must get on.....

not much else to say but HM lovely children! and down to you not just DH!!!

Harimosmummy · 25/08/2009 14:41

Hi Girls!

I'm suffering MAJOR sleep deprivation at the moment!!! But, for a few moments, both of my little monsters angels are asleep at the same time, so I'm messing about making good use of my time on the internet!!!

Just a quick question about your routines now... Haribo only naps once now so I try to give him his lunch before he goes for a nap (I have been so slovenly today - I took him for pizza because I just couldn't face cooking and then cleaning up! ) but the time of his nap varies quite a bit depending on how he sleeps, so just wondering what others do...

Imogen (who I'm going to NN Mimi because I think she just looks like a Mimi!) is doing really well - 4 weeks old tomorrow and making her presence felt at every opportunity!! She is eating very well but IMO, isn't as placid as haribo (but that could be because I have Haribo to consider now too... With him, the whole world revolved around his needs! )

I hope you are all well..

MM - are you initials EL? I think I have found your e-mail addy!!!!!

Flick - Will order some stuff soon... Haribo needs some new slippers!!!

LM - How are the final preps going?

Mitchell - How are you finding the new term? Hope the kids are all good!

Fuzzy - I hope you and DH are having a lovely anniversary break!

best go, HM x

luckymummy74 · 25/08/2009 22:57

HM DD2 naps either:

early (9-ish til about 10:30am)
then after lunch (1:30pm ish for another 1-2 hrs),

or, she can go with just one sleep a day, and if she does, it will be after lunch, about 1pm-3pm. She is a good sleeper like DD1 and I certainly am not going to discourage this! If she is happy to nap twice a day and still goes to bed at 7pm then I will keep doing that while I can get away with it!! DD1 still napped twice a day til she was quite a bit older....can't remember exactly when.

Plans going v well thanks, both just been waxed within an inch of our lives, eyelash tint and brow shape tomorrow, then nails Friday morning!!!

Long story with Sister's dress, won't bore you with it, quick version being that she had one made, not happy with it (it's awful) so went to Monsoon and bought one of their bridal dresses in the sale for £67!!!! Monsoon dress didn't fit her initially (too small) but I have 'boot camped' her and she tried it on last night and it fits and looks beautiful.....yay!!!

Getting very excited.....also (not sure how much excitement I can take) new sofa being delivered tomorrow....a corner unit. We've been without our lounge for a month, I can't wait!!!

Quiet on here this week???
