Ahhh, I see. That is apparently typical girl behaviour. DS hated being cuddled but M likes it. She has started getting a little bit more independent now but she is a cuddly girl. I know how you feel as I always felt rejected by ds when he pushed me away. Doesn't help with the PND either does it? It's not you, if anything it's a good thing as it shows that P is confident and self-reliant! DS is now really affectionate so things do change. M is very needy and sometimes I wish she was a little bit less cuddly.

Sorry MM they were your links. Scary and accurate!

Hmm if you need to shout you do it. Throwing things about is great therapy. Dont beat yourself up about it. At least you knew to walk away. That is a good mummy not a bad mummy.
Have you tried to take P out at the same time every day in her buggy. It is a good way to get babies to sleep at the same time each day. The fresh air does wonders for both of you.

Myjob I forgot to say excellent weight gain for N.

RachieW · 04/05/2009 22:18

MM- really interesting to hear that your ds hated being cuddled. J won't cuddle for long, he prefers to stretch out. We're quite lucky that at the moment (am always going to add that proviso from now on) he'll go down at night awake and get himself to sleep. I do wish he'd cuddle more sometimes though and sleep on me, yesterday he did and it was so lovely, I cherished every minute.

Rachie - I would LOVE for M to be a little more self-reliant. In the middle of the night, the last thing I want is a needy M wanting to sleep on me. She will sometimes only go back to sleep on me. When she was tiny, the only time she would sleep during the day was perched on my shoulder. In the end my neck and shoulder were so painful, DH couldn't even touch my back without it being agony. I do confess that I love the cuddles, but not all the time.

Marthasmama · 04/05/2009 22:26

Oh and Pistachio - I wish I was 29 again. My 29th was my favourite birthday.

RachieW · 04/05/2009 22:36

MM- I think we are quite lucky really, I'll take my little cuddles and ds sleeping in his cot over lots of cuddles and sleeping on me.

Marthasmama · 04/05/2009 22:39

Myjob - Not all fish smells fishy. Salmon is very fishy indeed! Meaty fish is not fishy, but it is also the type which contains mercury. Red Snapper is a good one to try. And fresh tuna, neither are stinky

Marthasmama · 04/05/2009 22:41

Rachie - You'll get the cuddles you want in the future. Boys are very affectionate.

RachieW · 04/05/2009 22:46

MM- I think you're right. Dh is still a right mummy's boy at 36

Marthasmama · 04/05/2009 22:52

Thank God mine isn't! DH loves my mummy more and when we argue it's her house he sulks off to! My brother is a mummy's boy but my mum is fab.

Honeymoonmummy · 04/05/2009 23:04

Mmm I love fresh tuna! It reminds me of steak (bearing in mind it's 20 years since I tasted steak!!!) God, 20 years... I can't even REMEMBER what I did on my 29th birthday MM! And it was only 5 years ago!!

Poppy doesn't sleep in her buggy. In fact, she doesn't really like being in her buggy. She's now in the "proper" buggy facing forwards and more often than not whines during a walk, even with a toy to entertain her.

I had her facing backwards in the car seat the last time I went and she was marginally better. The only time she really enjoys it is in the baby bjorn facing out, but it makes my back/ shoulders ache (not the baby bjorn, just me I think) So walks, once virtually daily, have now become few and far between.

I'm off to bed, night all.

Marthasmama · 04/05/2009 23:08

My 29th was three years ago and I went shopping all day. DH bought me loads of clothes and they were all sizes 4-6. Ah, those were the days. Off to bed too as I have just realised how bloody late it is!

Marthasmama · 05/05/2009 08:02

Booohooooo! Up every hour until 3 then she slept until 6. She is now in a horrendous mood. So am I! I think teeth were the problem as she has bright red cheeks this morning.

aubergenie · 05/05/2009 08:48

MM- My sympathies. That sounds like my night, except we got the chunk of sleep at the begining and then he was up every hour. It's been like this for the last few days and it's killing me!

I've got a dilemma. I REALLY want one of those Rose and Rebellion carriers. Apparently they're really comfortable, even for toddlers. Anyway, long story, but I've been offered a new one in All My Hearts design for £55 but the one I really want is the Rebel for £67. I can't afford either of them, but I am putting some stuff on Ebay which, hopefully, will pay towards some of it. Should I get the cheaper one, which will be nice, but I don't love, or should I splash out on the more expensive one, which I do love? Money is an issue at the moment and we've got loads of stuff we need to do in the flat. I can't ask dp as he'll think I'm mad for even considering spending that much on a carrier.

aubergenie · 05/05/2009 08:55

HMM - We've got an Amby and I often bounce ds to sleep in it. In fact, I've got no idea how we'll manage when we get a cot. Ds does nap in it during the day, but the naps are usually really short - 15 or 20 minutes. If we're out with the buggy or in the car, he'll sleep for ages.

Are you sure it's not the Bjorn that's making your shoulders hurt? A friend of mine had one and said it was really uncomfortable on her shoulders and just couldn't wear it.

Marthasmama · 05/05/2009 09:01

I am really the wrong person to ask as you may have guessed from my high chair/pushchair choices. Hopefully someone sensible will be on soon. I am tempted to get one too, but I bought a Quinny Zapp a couple if weeks ago as our 'car' pushchair. I got really grumpy with M this morning as she just kept whining. I hate that high pitched moaning noise. It drives me mad! I think my mum is off today doing some marking so I may have to dump M on her for a while and kip in her spare room.

I suddenly have spell check on here. What's going on?!

Marthasmama · 05/05/2009 09:03

Oh yes hmm, meant to mention, my Bjorn cripples me after about 15 mins. I wore it down to the school and it was agony!

aubergenie · 05/05/2009 09:20

MM- So you'd go for the more expensive one then?

How are you getting on with the Zapp? I want to get a smaller buggy for when we go on holiday and I think they fold up quite small don't they? And haven't they got some fantastic fold function?

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/05/2009 09:34

which bjorn do you all have? The 'active' one is much comfier imo.
Aubergenie, focus on the 12pounds as that is the deciding factor, and not on the full cost. I would spend the extra 12pounds and get the one you love. I am intending to get either wild child or carnival bloom, but need to speak to them first re waist extender .

Boo for your sleeps Aubergenie and mm. We were only up twice, though hard to settle. Think I got 6 hrs in 2hrs blocks.

The Zapp folds down really small, it would fit in a rucksack! Plus look...... at this! I still use the Stokke most of the time as it is rear facing and will probably carry on using it for walking trips. Have you got a Maxi Cosi? It fits on the Zapp frame without the need for adaptors! The folding is easy compared to the Stokke, but then origami is easy compared to folding the Stokke! I am not giving you an opinion about the baby carrier, I'm a bad influence and it's not going to be my fault this time

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/05/2009 09:36

zapp virtually impossible to fold up, but incredibly small once you do.

Marthasmama · 05/05/2009 09:36

I want the Carnival Bloom one too CSWS. Clearly you have excellent taste.

aubergenie · 05/05/2009 10:00

Carneval Bloom and Wild Child also very lovely CSWS. You're right about the £12. It's not much in the grand scheme of things. We're lucky enough that, although we need to be careful with spending, we're not utterly skint. I think I've made my decision .

I've been looking at Zapps on Ebay, and was wondering what people really thought of them. Yes, I've got the Maxi Cosi too so that would be handy. Is it heavy?
