oh ffs. Dh let dd come down at 5.45, so now she's having tantrum because I won't feed her, and she's going to wake ds. Feel like i've been hit by a train this morn am so tired.

Honeymoonmummy · 03/05/2009 08:38

Bloody hell CSWS, how do you function on that little sleep?

RachieW · 03/05/2009 09:16

CSWS- sorry to hear you've had such an awful night sleep.

HMM- I just found the AK way of doing half milk half food too much hassle, in that it was a fight to get J to have the milk again. I'm like Ekka and worry about dehydration and also the fact that milk is still his main meal. This morning he had his first milk feed at 6am (thank you lovely ds) and then porridge with apple puree at 8.30, a bit of bread crust to suck on (am being brave) and then I'm going to offer his next bottle at 10am.

We'll see how it goes

aubergenie · 03/05/2009 11:38

for crap night csws. You had such a busy day yesterday as well, no wonder you're exhausted.

I give S some water in a sippy cup with his meals and he loves drinking it. He can get it into his mouth but can't tip it up far enough as it's too heavy, so I have to help him out. I was thinking of getting a doidy cup or just offering him a tiny cup to drink from. I've got some of those little plastic pots that had gu chocolate puddings in them, and I thought that might be a nice baby-size cup for him.

CSWS - Was it you who mentioned the salt in bread in the bread machine? I've been experimenting with reducing the salt levels in mine and have managed to half it with no ill-effects.

DS awake - got to go.

Marthasmama · 03/05/2009 11:39

That, CSWS, was a shit night! M was actually a sleepy baby last night. She went to sleep at 7.15 and slept until 8.33am with three wake ups. Not too bad at all. I managed to get her to drink some water with a splash of apple juice today. It confused her but she drank it. She had toast with cashew nut butter this morning as she is so nearly 7 months She is still refusing to sleep in the day though.

I am so bored today. DH wants to put some of M's baby stuff on eBay but that makes me feel sad. There is no point keeping clothes for another baby as I will want to get new bits, I'm such a nightmare with the shopping. I'm not selling the good stuff like the rainforest swing. That was blardy expensive!

Well christening was fab today, both DD's shattered and in bed now!

csws gosh, I dont know how you cope on the lack of sleep !

Dd2 taking water really well form her tippy cup, dd1 was not a big drinker and still not but dd2 appears to love it and have lots of very wet nappies!

AM going to relax now, was going to do more ebaying and relisting but cant be arsed!

aubergenie · 03/05/2009 20:07

Ugh - I've got a few summery maternity bits to Ebay and I really can't be bothered. I got as far as ironing it all for the photos and now can't face the rest of it.

Lovely weather for a christening today, jenwa.

Ds had his first ride in a supermarket trolley today and absolutely loved it. He was hilarious, he was whooping and squealing and kicking his legs all the way round the shop. People kept stopping to look at him. He was so sweet. I wish I was that easily amused.

I've been madly busy in the jungle garden for the last 2 days. Haven't actually had a chance to sit down and enjoy it at all. Very tired. Homemade pizza for tea and salad out of the garden. Yum.

Damn - Just as I typed that last sentence, dp came in and said "guess what I forgot to put on the pizza. Cheese". Gah!

star6 · 03/05/2009 20:31

LOL about hte pizza aubergenie!! DH always cooks here so it would be ME forgetting the cheese. We make a lovely wholewheat crust for ours (we... ha! dh does...). trying to get on facebook... so busy lately!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/05/2009 21:00

I intentionally make them without cheese! Actually I wanted to get pizzas made up in Asda today, so that I could bung them straight in the oven for a quick tea when we got in, but they were useless at understanding their allergen info, and claimed that the pizza bases contained dairy. How the fuck can you make a pizza base that contains dairy?!

aubergenie - ds had his first ride in a trolley on Wedns, when I went to Ikea. He seemed to love it too - I even took a photo which I'll upload to fb shortly.

Glad the Christening was good Jenwa.

We had a busy day too. Party from 11-1, then off to MK as we were half way there because we'd agreed to go and get something from Ikea for the in-laws. Popped into the huge Asda next door for a bit, and then to Ikea, and by the time we got home it was 5:30 already.
Am utterly dead on feet now, so will be off to bed after a quick browse.

Oh, and great news re salt levels aubergenie. Now all I need to do is to get ds a bit more interested in bread. It's the one thing we offer him that he really doesn't seem interested in so far.

OP posts:
heather1980 · 03/05/2009 21:31

csws - i make pizza bases in my breadmaker and the recipe has milk powder in it, so maybe asda do the same?

aubergine - i've been in the garden all day too, we are in the process of digging up the front garden to lay a lawn down for the kids, atm its one big bed but as we have a yard at the back i want somewhere that the kids can play.
we don't have a road at the front just a path, as our houses are old railway cottages so there is an old railway embankment at the front which has been converted to a path and cycleway. so it's safer for the kids at the front than the back which is where the road is.

alex started to crawl properly yesterday he's still a bit clumsy but he is up properly on his hands and knees rather than comando crawling across the carpet.

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/05/2009 21:36

Oh well done Alex!

I make them in my breadmaker too normally, but none of my recipes have milk powder in.

heather1980 · 03/05/2009 22:09

i have a morphy richards fastbake and most of the recipes have milk powder in, i usually miss it out tbh coz all it does is make the crust darker. in fact i have altered most of the recipes as they are either to salty or to sweet.

Marthasmama · 03/05/2009 23:07

Good evening ladies. Pizza without cheese? What's the point?

Well done Alex for the crawling! M can get places now but it is a combination of rolling, dragging and pelvic thrusting round. She can move a fair way but it's like the hour hand on a clock. You can see she's travelled but you can't actually see the movement.

We went to visit a friend and her gorgeous three week old ds. They have three girls and her dh wouldn't leave her alone until he got a boy. So finally number four was a ds. He is so tiny and has the skinniest legs I've ever seen. He was the same birth weight as M when she was born so I was to think she was ever that small.

Honeymoonmummy · 03/05/2009 23:16

That's exactly like Poppy MM re moving, it's weird. Altho I'm sure M is getting further than Poppy!

forgot to say MM about the fruitarian how skinny was that poor child???

Well done Alex on crawling, that's early! And great photos CSWS, I can't believe how comfortable he looks in a supermarket trolley!

I found out today that there's soya in both Pizza Hut and Pizza Express pizza bases They have an allergy sheet on their websites which is quite useful. Turns out I can have the olives from Pizza Express...

I'm off to bed now, night all x

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/05/2009 08:58

I did warn you that soya free was horrid hmm!

A good night here until 2:30am, and then we were up til just after 3, then up again from just before 4am until 5am, during which time he would sleep on my shoulder but cry when put down. He then slept 5-7, with a v quick wail at 6. Dd managed not to come down until 6:30.

Jojay · 04/05/2009 10:43

Morning all - I haven't had time to read everyone's posts, but I hope everyone's having a nice BH weekend We went to a carboot sale yesterday, then out for a pub lunch. DS1 cried wolf too many time sand wet himslef but Ed was happy munching on a chip!

Dh is working today, so I'm having a boring day while everyone else is doing family stuff, AND it's raining. May venture out to a fete this pm if it's not too bad.

Ed, touch wood, seems to be sleeping a bit better, The last few nights he's gone from 10 - 10.30 ish through till 3 - 4 ish, then till 6.30 - 7, so only one night time wake up. He feeds really quickly and goes back down easily so I'm only up 10-15 mins. So I'm feeling very bright eyed and bushy tailed at the moment - relatively speaking of course!

I've looked in to whether I should be holding off gluten due to our family history of coeliacs but the advice seems to be to go for it after 6 months, building up slowly. Leaving it too late can make it worse, so I may try some bread or pasta over the next few days. Continuing bfing while introducing it is thought to help too, so we'll carry on there.

BLW still going well. He's not that interested at breakfast time, but he's very enthusiastic at tea time, having a go at all sorts. I haven't really done lunch yet as he's often asleep when I have mine but I'll start making more of an effort soon

I've been offering him a bottle for 3 days now - he's not overly keen but managed all of 10 ml yesterday, but hey, that's an improvement. To give a bit of background, he had a bottle of ebm every night from 2 wks till about 3 months, then went on strike and wouldn't have it any more. So I'm trying to reintroduce it again, so I can have the odd night off.

Lots of love to your babes, esp those clever crawling ones!!

Marthasmama · 04/05/2009 11:16

I'm back in sleep hell! It was nice to have a break for two nights but it was business as usual last night. I am tired

loulou33 · 04/05/2009 12:31

just a quickie to say been busy with school fete, friends visiting and visit to the 'garden of cosmic speculation' yesterday (google it, it's amazing). off to centre parcs now so will try to catch up when we get back.....lets hope the weather's better

well done to all the crawlers!!!
