Glad to hear it Leaky..... (that shes chilled, not that you're leaky )

Lucky you NL - enjoy

Bryn is doing fine - apart from trying to refuse his meds! Thanks for asking Nl/SOL xx

Dh has gone to some kind of meeting about cows tonight.

Lady phones up and says a cow is calving down a marsh - but the ones down at marsh are not due to calve

go down there and she is aborting so cue me and dc and the boy who helps on the farm chasing a cow into a horsebox in the near dark - just back and in need of a bath - just having a well earned glass of wine first!

Doobydoo · 28/04/2009 21:19

Doobydoo · 28/04/2009 21:21

'HE'
Congrats NL...I am going now...getting it all wrong.xx

Claire2009 · 28/04/2009 21:39

Hi all,

Wow you've been busy chatting this evening

NL, Congrats on the win!

Caz, What was/is wrong with the pony? Glad to hear pony is getting better though! Sorry to hear you're evening has been difficult! I know how difficult it is to get a cow into a horsebox (well it was for us! ) and if she's aborting she'll be even more stressed. Poor thing

Leaky, Thats great your dd is nice & chilled out!

SoL, I haven't tried him much more tbh! He was being stripped bottom half to use it and I've not done it today, yesterday he done 3 wee's on it though..although he slightly missed (wasnt sat on it properly) and pee'd everywhere on one of them ...I'm not pushing him to be TT ...a little shocked that he's doing it already tbh! I thought boys took longer!? I was thinking another year before he'd be ready..

CaptainDippy · 29/04/2009 10:37

No Birthdays today!

Hello all! Feeling less "weird" today, but really very tired - yaaaaawn!

Glad the breast pads are coming in handy Leaky - tee hee!

Your life is just sooo exciting isn't it, Caz!!?

La! La! La!

Off to do some work .... groan ...

StealthPolarBear · 29/04/2009 11:57

Morning everyone
Glad you're feeling better Dippy

Maveta · 29/04/2009 12:27

Hello! Congrats Leaky! What lovely news to come back to

Thank you for all the birthday wishes for N, he had a lovely party on sunday and a nice day yesterday. How quickly thoughts turn from new clothes/ toys to eyeing up the ikea storage solutions . Happy Birthday to all the April (and March.. and May..) Babies, hope they all had/have lovely days.

Yesterday was also Vio's baby JimJim's birthday and he was on my mind a lot.

I don't know when I was last on, did I tell you all we bought a flat? I think so, it was all very quick, one of these sellers-urgent-to-sell ones they always tell you to look out for. We were very lucky and are really enjoying the new place. We are out of the little village and back to the big city and feeling full of life again, didn't realise how much we'd missed it. Feeling much more in the loop with friends etc too which is nice. And there's a big park at the end of our street which N loves, AND the best bit. this train goes past the end of our street every 30mins, we can see it from our balcony and hear it's TOOOT TOOOOT. I am sure you can imagine how thrilled N is .

We've been pretty busy, dh has finally finished studying for his uni access so we will have lots more time together now, and I don't have to do bedtimes all on my own 5 days a week (YAY!). On a sad note, my parents finally leave us next week to move back to the UK . We'll all be lost without them..

Anyway enough waffle, hope you and your babies are all well

StealthPolarBear · 29/04/2009 12:31

Hi Maveta lovely to see you, and congratulations on moving!
Are you back for a while or was this just a flying visit?
Didn't realise yesterday was Jimjim's birthday as well, will be thinking about Vio

elkiedee · 29/04/2009 12:41

Hi Maveta lovely to see you. Which city are you in? Glad that you're enjoying it.

About the train, it's interesting how having babies can change your perspective, I'm really pleased to hear the dustcarts come round now when D is here - he'd woken up a few minutes before they came this morning and adores them - he has a friend on the round who stands outside our window and waves at him specially now. (I guess dustmen don't get the attention firefighters do normally!)

I sent Vio a Facebook message yesterday and heard back from her.

MJreturns · 29/04/2009 19:50

See, we talk about Maveta and she reappears!
Fab to see you Mav, glad things are going well for you. I guess your work will be busying up from now on through the summer?

Thanks to everyone for being nice to me (it really does mean a lot you know).

Dh and I have a little bit of a better understanding today. It took me to burst into tears for him to acknowledge that things are not as good as they should be, but at least I have told him how I have been feeling about some things.
I still can't see him curbing his fishing spending though

The good thing is that I have a separate bank account for my agency work pay to go into (which he has no access to!), so I can keep a close eye on what I have earned, and prioritise what I need to spend it on rather than it being swallowed up within our current account iykwim, or him making a sly purchase on his debit card!

I do feel better about things today. I am tired after working last night, but I feel like I have made a little headway at least (and I have another shift booked for Sunday night which will be another bit of money in the bank too).
Realistically it will only take a few of these shifts and I will have everything sorted as it is not that bad, it is just that dh has driven me mental with his bloody spending!

Thanks again ladies What would I do without you all to sound off to?!

NL, congrats on the win, I love smellies!

SPB, made me laugh when you had to drive around a bit to get T calm enough to tighten his straps. I have a stroppy one too

Caz, hope the cow is ok. I couldn't do what you do, would spend my life in tears if the animals were poorly (and yet I do what I do iykwim, which many people also couldn't do I suppose).

Right, enough rambling from me. Have a good evening ladies. I am off to scoff lasagne for my tea. I picked up F from my mum today and she had made a big tray of lasagne (my mum not F!!) so that I didn't have to cook. She truly is fabulous

MJreturns · 29/04/2009 19:53

Sorry, that was really long.

elkiedee · 29/04/2009 20:04

grrr at your dh mj. We've had terrible rows here in the past, but mostly long before dcs and although we both have our moments of rather silly impulse buys, dp is a lot better than he was. We'll have to be a lot more careful from August, when I go on to SMP and then when I return to work most of my money will go on childcare or the costs of just getting to work (fares and lunch - I'll probably make sandwiches some days).

Maveta · 29/04/2009 21:28

Hi Spb - hope I will be able to pop in more often, it´s been so hectic with dh studying and me being alone with N in the evenings, then by the time he´d go down and I´d whip round trying to reassert some kind of order on the house it would be late (9pm counts for late for me these days! zzzz) and it´s all I could do to flop in front of the tv for an hour or so before bed . then of course moving house and latest hitch is a dodgy internet connection which I need to get sorted asap. But yes, when the gods smile down and all the stars align in the correct formation happy MNing with my april ladies is predicted

Elkie - congrats to you too! I think I did pop on and say that at the time but not actually to you iykwim. So congrats! hope it´s all going well, you sound good.

Hi MJ! Rowing about money is the pits. Luckily dh accepts me having total control over the very tight purse strings without complaint but thats just because hes too lazy to take responsibility for the accounts himself wow all that - - knackered me out

Started gym again and went to body pump last night and I still hurt all over.. uurgh.

In other news, not sure if I told you N is potty trained? For almost 2 months now, still in nappies at night though. Everytime he goes several nights with a dry one I start toying with trying him without and then he wakes up with one that weighs more than he does so holding off on that for a while yet. Though his nursery, while admitting he was very young to be trained (these days) were a bit stern saying "once you train, you train, day and night at the same time". I was WHATever.

He is moving nurseries, he´s still in his old one but there´s a nice one near our new house and there wasn´t a place til July which means dh has been driving him 25mins there and back everyday (new one is 5mins walk) but a place has just come up. Now got to figure out when is best to move him given that my parents are staying with us for a week (from tomorrow) so he´s going to see them even more than usual right before they leave for good not sure how to phase all of this for him so it´s not all too much at once. Any opinions?

Sorry this is a bit of a missive!!

x

elkiedee · 29/04/2009 22:46

Maveta, well done on potty training. Does your nursery really need to know what you're doing at night though?

Re moving nursery dilemma, are either your dh or you able to spend time dealing with settling N in.

StealthPolarBear · 30/04/2009 08:27

wow at potty training! T is getting the awareness ... after the event
MJ, glad I made you smile and that things are seeming a bit brighter. T is definitely getting into the terrible 2s - I thought we were already having them
No idea about moving nurseries, sorry Obviously T did but he wasn't too attached to the last one. Hope it's not too much upheaval - they seem quite adaptable at this age.

CaptainDippy · 30/04/2009 09:46

My P Baby is TWO today!!!!!!!

Only got time to post that as off out to work while DH take P out for day Oh well ......

Happy Birthday Phoebe

potty training - Erin is doing it on the potty at nursery, asks all the time at home, and is very aware - should I go with it? I had a terrible time doing ds1 as we did it too early (for him) at 2.4.

I don't know where to start!

Maveta - I need your wise words (ds1 has never been dry at night yet)

Eddas · 30/04/2009 13:33

Oooggs, my dd was ready at just over 2 so i'd go for it. from what I understand boys tend to be harder than girls. I'm dreading training ds as dd was so easy, just kinda went from nappy to potty no trouble, veyr few accidents. And I know I was lucky! She was however not dry at night until about 3.6. Something just clicked one night, but I believe it's quite common for children to be wetting at nighttime for a fair while. dd just suddenly deceided she didn't want a nappy and then woke herself, although sometimes wakes and just wimpers and moans, but i'm beginning to realise this means she needs a wee!

Maveta, I changed ds from a nursery to a cm in jan and he was fine, I think you have to do what's best for you and he will adapt, as SPB says they are very adaptable. I had to change dd and ds from SIL to the nursery in May last year and ds was much easier to change than dd(who was 4) so I think do it now rather than say a year when you're hacked off doing the journey! I do think as parents we worry far more than the child, I know I do!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to those I've missed out on.

I've been very busy with work lately even staying up til the small hours on mon to finish a VAT return zzzzzzzzzzzzz nightmare!

I feel much happier with work nowadays but i'm aways dashing from a to b to get dd to school, ds to cm and me to work(then vice versa) feels like I don't stop from 7am til afte dinner. I thought I was doing ok til 'helpful' mum at school who always comments when i turn up as the bell goes, told me yesterday I'd have to change my working hours so I wasn't always late I'm not late as such, just dive in as the bell goes, but ffs I was livid, I had such issues last year(she knows about these as she was at preschool when I was trying to sort it out)why are some people so nosey and think they have the right to comment? I'm trying to ignore her but this was about the 5th time in a week she's comment on something

right rant over! best get back to work

Maveta · 30/04/2009 13:44

Happy Birthday Phoebe ! glad I managed to be around to wish one of our april babes a happy birthday on the actual day!

Elkie - no it's nothing in the slightest to do with them, go figure

Oooggs - no wise words here I am afraid, I did a kind of EC-lite i.e. put N on the potty at change time from very young and he was reliably clean from before a year old so it was just the pees and from 16mo he'd been signing to go so it was just making the relatively small leap to ditching the nappies. I feel totally unequipped to give any advice re. potty training! She sounds like she is showing all the signs of being ready though.. (good luck!

Eddas - I'd be and someone busybodying like that aswell! grrrr..

thanks for the comforting words re. nursery, I think you are right, we do build things up much more than they deserve sometimes. Think we have decided that dh will take hols in 2 weeks and do it then, seems a happy medium for everyone.

Hi everyone else!! I am at the folks' ostensibly helping them move the last of their stuff out but actually despairing at how slowly they are doing everything, Dad has actually gone off for a sleep! [sigh]

oooggs · 30/04/2009 14:20

what a nosey cow eddas - she can't have much of a life or anything to do if she can be that interested in your busy schedule!!!!

cheers girls may go for it after the bh, bloody hell, jack moving into a bed and erin potty training which is a better combination that erin going into a bed and jack potty training!!!!

Sexonlegs · 30/04/2009 14:44

Happy Birthday Phoebe!!!

Am impressed by all the potty training. Can't see K being ready for a while. She knows when she has been Makes a raspberry noise and points to her bum!!!

Lovely to see you Maveta. You have been busy indeed. No advice really re changing nursery I'm afraid, although I know when B moved to school from pre-school and was going where no other friends would be, I was really worried... and I needn't have been. I am sure N will be fine.

MJ, glad things are a little better with you.

Elkie, how are your boys doing?

Caz, any more news on your pony?

Oooggs, now you have everything sorted, you will be ready for number 5

All ok here, although not sure if K is quite herself. No temp or anything, but had about 1 ounce of milk at breakfast and that was it. She cried when I dropped her at nursery and really didn't want a cuddle from anyone. I know they would have called me had there been anything wrong, but I just feel uneasy iykwim.

Anyway, 15 mins to have a quick cuppa and go and pick B up in the pouring rain grrrrrr!
