Oh SOL...I know where you are coming from I really do.I am sure your eldest knows you love her. Some behaviour is unacceptable.DS1 and I are quite similar and Some days I feel utterly crap.He also likes to wind me up!
A friend of mine [has 2 grown up children and said that her and her son were similar to me and ds1 and when he was in his 20's they talked about childhood and whilst she had agonised over it he said he did things to wind her up and get a reaction. They have a fab relationship now.

Doobydoo · 13/05/2009 19:07

Elkie sorry re sleep.M sleeps okish[touch wood]DS1 slept through night on his own at 4 and a half
MJ...Utter crapindo agency...am sorry for all the gard work and now hassle you have.
Hope you ok SOL.XX
hI ALL.oFF TO SORT m FOR BED.

elkiedee · 13/05/2009 21:47

Bathtime was a bit of a disaster, we stuffed it up. I probably should have discussed plans a bit with my dad earlier. Fortunately dp's meeting was quite short and started and ended earlier than scheduled as everyone was there before 6 - if I'd known he'd be back before 7.30 I think we might have just carried on with some reading stories and got everything ready (as I did) but not started the bathtime. Still, when dp did get back D was at least not screaming, both boys had had their bath and dad took C down and cuddled him a bit, and D was easier to settle than last night.

SOL, 3 nights in a row sounds a lot but hope you get out for at least some of them and enjoy them.

Bramshott · 14/05/2009 08:54

Sorry to hear that Elkie, but don't beat yourself up - bathtime & bedtime is the worst bit of having another child, but IIRC the pain only really lasts a few months while the second one is so small and you're getting the new routine sorted.

O at home again today - sigh!

MJ - luckily O will play quite happily in her cot when she wakes up from her nap - I think she'd stay up there for hours chatting to her bears and reading her books (very lucky I know!)

StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2009 09:07

Morning everyone

runnyhabbit · 14/05/2009 10:35

Never rains, just effing pours

Looks like J has got impetigo. Not too bad in itself, but means I have taken yet another day off work. Dh in Oxford, mum is working, and mil in Derby.

I know it can't be helped, but after taking Monday off for W tooth. And I can tell that J is already bored with being at home Got the dr at 11.10, to confirm one way or another, so will probably go to the park afterwards.

Elkie - bathtimes with a toddler and newborn can be so much fun. Not. Imvho, I found it easier to bath them on my own (unless with dh) because I set the rules, iyswim. It does get easier

MJ - Wtf are the agency playing at? Hope you get it sorted soon. Btw, if the agency admit they've made a mistake, then ask them to arrange a TT (telegraphic transfer)into your account. If a TT is sent before 1/2pm, then it should be in your account the same day. There is a charge, but considering the way the agency have handled this, I think it's the least they can do!

Think we had a bit of breakthrough with W night waking last night. He woke up about 1ish, and basically, I did rapid return with him. Bit bizarre doing it at that time in the morning but I was in the right frame of mind, iykwim, and an hour and 20mins later, he was in his bed sleeping. Didn't wake til 6.20 this morning. Fingers crossed we're going in the right direction.

Right, best go and entertain J

StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2009 10:55

runny
but good news about W night waking

oooggs · 14/05/2009 11:28

oh please someone have some good news!!!!!!!!!!!

sol - L has man flu - but isn't complaining (unlike the other males in the oooggs household do ) but he is coughing and wheezing and smiling but not sleeping much and struggling to feed

last night Jack eventually fell asleep at 9.20pm - too late and he is so grumpy today that at nursery he has bitten Erin

I am knackered - so come on and cheer us all up - an engagement? pregnancy?

StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2009 11:39

I'm pregnant :0
Had my 20 weeks scan the other week and all was fine.
DH has viral conjunctivitis, was getting better, now getting worse Back to hospital for him this afternoon.

Bramshott · 14/05/2009 12:21

Took O to do the school swimming run - she screamed throughout - I think because she wanted to go swimming herself and didn't understand why she couldn't .

Got herself into such a paddy that even though she's quiet now, she is refusing to get out of the car! She's been in there for 15 minutes now . Think I might have a spot of lunch . . .

Dippy - thanks so much for the vests and pants which have just arrived. They are beautiful ! Although this doesn't mean I am starting to potty train - okay?!?

oooggs · 14/05/2009 12:27

Katy - that is a start and you made me smile - not the dh bit though

Bramshott · 14/05/2009 13:19

O now safely in bed, clutching ALL of the vests and pants !

geordieminx · 14/05/2009 15:52

C has another casting on monday for the red cross... is that good enough oooggs?

runnyhabbit · 14/05/2009 18:04

Good news....um, well, I have a child and dh free evening tonight The boys are waiting for nana to pick them up as I type, and dh is going out later for a pint with an old mate. Means I have full control of tv
And our car is fixed so going to pick up from garage in morning.

Dh sis is getting married in London in November, and I've worked out that I can use my Tesco clubcard vouchers to pay for at least half a weekends say in a Hilton Will save us about £100

As soon as I have any more good news Oooggs, you will be the first to know

elkiedee · 14/05/2009 22:16

Rough night here last night - Danny woke up crying at 1 am and dp tried to put him in his cot 3 times, then I went in to him and ended up falling asleep there until 5 am, when I moved back to our bed. The silver lining was that he accepted me being there for him rather than dp, it often feels like he only wants dp at the moment.

So I'm very tired but had quite a pleasant day today, breastfeeding support group, lunch with 3 others, then visiting a friend for coffee and I found some good secondhand DVDs on the way - Drop the Dead Donkey and two series of Shameless.

I have an NCT antenatal class meet up tomorrow.

elkiedee · 14/05/2009 22:19

So Runny, what do you watch when you have full control of the TV? How different is that from when DH is around?

StealthPolarBear · 15/05/2009 08:05

morning everyone
sorry to hear about bad night elkie
DH has swine flu, well OK not really but he has a nasty virus which is apparently highly contagious (or should that be infectious?). Will be into his third week off sick /working from home next week

runnyhabbit · 15/05/2009 18:07

elkie - it means I can catch up with Desperate Housewives and Bones, Ashes to Ashes and 24.

I don't do soaps but I do love a good looking american man good american drama

oooggs · 15/05/2009 20:33

gm - thats fantastic news

runny - your news is great too. Hilton - cool

hurray - I managed to keep dts awake all day so they went to bed well tonight - well Jack could still test the patience of a saint

oh dear elkie - dts were both up at 3am and dh had to help, I settled Erin quickly and managed to get back just before Luke started for a feed, dh probably also settled Jack quickly but fell asleep on his bed so didn't come back and I found them both cuddled up this morning!!

We finished Lukes room today and the carpet is going down tomorrow (not that he is going in there - Erin will when we do her room)

CaptainDippy · 15/05/2009 20:59

Make DP do all the D stuff imho Elkie Hope tonight is better xx

Glady ou got the vests and pants ok Bramshiot - LMAO @ O falling asleep clutching them all

Yuk to all the illness going round, especially in the oooggs household and SPB's DH

Going to watch some stuff I've missed this week on iplayer and celebrate the fatc my mum has finally gone home!!

Oh, and to answer your Q about my 3 hrs sleep the other night ....

SOL, it would take more than some freebie pens for some late night rampant action in this household!!!

At least fours mini bars of hotel soap and five bottle shampoo

[girn]

No, seriously, I just couldn't settle til 2am when P woke up and decided it was morning She didn't settle til 5am and then up at 6.30am - yuk!

Oh well, last two night's have been ok; so here's hoping .....

elkiedee · 15/05/2009 23:15

Last night wasn't great either - C's turn to wake at 4.30 and feed until about 6 I think, I was still awake and feeding at 5.30, then I fell asleep and woke up a few minutes later.

D has been left sleeping on the mattress in his room again tonight.

I guess we had a lot of good nights and now we're obviously going to suffer.

Ah well, it's Saturday tomorrow.

leakyR · 15/05/2009 23:35

No personals.

Ear better. G hard work now daddy has gone back to work.
at mil who has bullied --us dh into having Swiss relatives to stay overnight tomorrow, when:
A) we don't really have room
B) we're already having friends over from Yorkshire for lunch tomorrow
C) WE HAVE A 3 WEEK OLD BABY!!!

Lazy old trout has vague "plans" for tomorrow night and dh's grandad (whose house they will be staying at) is in hospital so she would have to wait there for them to arrive. I had "plans" to go to bed early after spending a nice afternoon with 6 old friends who I will be making lunch for. Now I will be cooking and generally running round after another 4 people tomorrow evening. On the plus side, they're Swiss and will be in bed by 9.30

leakyR · 15/05/2009 23:36

Should have been "us dh"

elkiedee · 15/05/2009 23:59

Oh Leaky, that sounds really unfair of your MIL. Hope it all goes ok.

StealthPolarBear · 16/05/2009 06:46

leaky
Well hopefully they'll figure ot that with a 3wo there's only so much running around you'll do before leaving them to it
