Morning

I was greeted by 2 pooey nappies this morning...one from each....lovely

DS got first set of jabs this morning....I hate doing this

Got a long list for the doctor as well for both of us, then to baby clinic to weigh him (for the first time since he was 7 days old ....well I don't need a HV to tell me he's putting on weight!)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/05/2009 09:15

Morning all.

Good luck with jabs and GP and all Norty.

OK, potty questions:

Jamlet tugged at her trousers and fetched the potty this morning. Trousers/nappy off, on the potty, cbeebies on, 15 mins later up she got and had done a wee and a poo Lots of praise from me and DH, and a sticker = one happy jamlet.

I hadn't any plans to start proper training just yet, but this is the 2nd time she has requested and used the potty in about the past 10 days (1st time just a wee). So shall I take her out to pick some "big girl" pants this afternoon? Do we go for it now? Or do we wait a while longer yet?

Also just to check my post-potty technique - I got her to stand facing away from me and I wiped her front to back. Then emptied potty into loo, rinsed to dislodge the last bits (sorry if TMI), emptied that into loo, and wiped pot out with loo roll. DH said that's disgusting . Am I doing it all wrong??

Ohforfoxsake · 06/05/2009 09:20

Well what does DH suggest you do Jammy?

I give them a once over with those flushable toilet wipes, especially if you are using the potty around the house or if LO carries the potty around. You might want to rinse it again to get any residue chemicals off too.

But I think what you did is fine. Unless he has a better suggestion

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/05/2009 09:27

Oh typically he has no actual suggestions Foxy, just a look of disgust at wiping out the potty. And when I said he would have to do it sometimes he said he hated me .

HellHathNoFury · 06/05/2009 09:31

!!!!!! at your DH Jammy

Rialentless · 06/05/2009 09:57

if your DH can come up with another method he could be a very rich man. I use a squirt of antibac along with the loo roll (I don't think those flushable wipes existed when DS1 was small)

as for pants, that's up to you and jamlet, I have used pull-ups first to minimise accidents.

Rialentless · 06/05/2009 09:57

good luck norty

Ohforfoxsake · 06/05/2009 10:03

I hate that. Be constructive in your criticism by all means, but don't just criticise for the sake of it. Grrr!

Ohforfoxsake · 06/05/2009 10:07

Just to say Jammy, it is quite young to potty train, and you may find that she loses interest when the novely wears off, in which case my advice is don't push it and go back to nappies for 6 months. Pants are a good idea, I don't think pull-ups have a place in potty training. Essentially they are nappies.

Saying that, girls generally get it quicker than boys and this may well be it for Jamlet, so good luck (and keep an antibac spray and roll of kitchen paper in every room!)

Good luck Jamlet

Ohforfoxsake · 06/05/2009 10:11

Sorry just realised I disagreed with Ria there about pull-ups, so wanted to clarify so you don't think I'm steam-rollering my opinions Ria

Personally I would rather mop up and the reason for this is that I think pull-ups don't give them the same sense of urgency or feeling that they are wet. If they are watching tv and can't be arsed, then its easy enough to stay sat in it. (For some reason I'm thinking of my boys here!) They are far more conscious of what they are doing without that security.

But then I have floorboards and not carpets so its easy for me to say!

Ohforfoxsake · 06/05/2009 10:14

Good luck with the jabs Norty

HellHathNoFury · 06/05/2009 10:24

good advice about the pull ups foxy... now if only I hadn't bought 200 of them bulk

HellHathNoFury · 06/05/2009 10:30

oh btw if anyone uses pampers sensitive wipes...Tesco is selling 12 packs for £10 (2x 6 pack)

bargain

Ohforfoxsake · 06/05/2009 10:34

is that online?

HellHathNoFury · 06/05/2009 10:38

not sure - I was in the shop

TheNatty · 06/05/2009 10:39

ooh thats cheap fury

hope potty training goes well, we have ellen in nothing round the house and nappies whilst out, if i put pants on her she stops using the potty and just wees in them however she wont let me put nappies on her in the house. so she wears dresses and nothing on her bum atm.

i agree with pull ups, tom was the same, but i thin boys are just lazy that way lol!

HellHathNoFury · 06/05/2009 10:43

yep it's online

HellHathNoFury · 06/05/2009 10:45

save £4.66

Hi Natty how are you?

LackaDAISYcal · 06/05/2009 11:02

oooh, do you think gok was filming for the next series...are we going to see fury and foxy lurking in the background?

I'm on my knees today...bumble was up half the fecking night and I think I had an hours sleep in total. I was supposed to be getting singed off by my psych today but have had to cancel the appointment as I can't see to drive!

When will this child sleep??????

of course he has gone back to bed and is sleeping like a....ummm....baby whilst I do a bit of firefighting with DD, who has woken me up three times already by shouting loudly in my ear "MUMMY SLEEPING"

I jsut want my beeeeedddd

sorry....me me me me me

Ohforfoxsake · 06/05/2009 11:17

Nah, I think they were just mates out shopping

TheNatty · 06/05/2009 11:36

im fine cheers fury, my back is too buggered to leave the house again today, and ive had about 2 hours sleep with LO kicking me awake all night. but other then that im peachy lol!

kids being good, thank god its nap time soon tho, i am so going to bed when they do

sorry you had such a crap night daisy, hope you get some much needed sleep.

LittleMissNorty · 06/05/2009 13:37

Aww Daisy ....everything is so much worse with no sleep....hope you got a nap this afternoon. My DD opens my eyelids when I'm dozing in front of the TV

Jabs went fine. GP made me lie him on a bed to jab him (rather than let me cuddle him) and tbh, DS was fine....despite me having a huge panic attack and then throwing up round the back of the surgery . The little porker at 13 weeks weighs 14lb 8oz . DD at the same age was 12lb!

I'm using pull ups for DD, but only because she wants to sit on the potty every 5 mins and we were getting through loads of nappies. She has done a wee and a poo on the potty, but that's more by luck than judgement I think. She tells me AFTER the event, not before.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/05/2009 14:53

arse about your GP not letting you cuddle him while he was jabbed norty. Is this the same GP?

It goes from bad to worse here. DD is beside herself with misery this afternoon. she has scratched herself to buggery and has hardly esaten anything since Sunday. I have no idea what is wrong with her. She's had a bit of a sniffle and had a temp yesterday and is sleeping the sleep of the dead at night but is the most miserable speck of humanity that ever walked.

We were all having a lovely nap too, but an "unusual for this time of day" poo woke DD up.

Here's hoping DS1 is in a better mood than usual or I am going to have throttled all of my children by teatime!

oh dear daisy! know what you mean about miserable madams tho, i have one here.

michael has just taught ellen 'head shoulders knees and toes' and she keeps singing the eyes and ears bit all backwards! its ever so cute... cos she realises halfway thru that shes got it wrong and just shrugs and grins manically

LittleMissNorty · 06/05/2009 15:04

Is calpol lifting her at all Daisy? Poor little thing. Not teething?

It must be their age about being miserable....its pretty difficult getting a smile out of DD atm. We're going through a good eating phase atm....don't know how long it will last though....

Yes, same GP ....the same practice that forgot to book him in for jabs until 13 weeks old . There are no others in my area though!

Got re-referred for my gall bladder and have an appointment at the end of May....how are you now feeling Daisy?

My dog really stinks today....wonder if he's been rolling in fox shit again?
