Yes, second the mousetrap idea. Not all cats are any good at catching mice, they have to learn from their mothers.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/05/2009 14:32

I had a fab time in NY a few years back and yes the boat trip is well worth doing. Am quite of you going. I would love to go again.

Jamlet being a right pain. Tired but has onyl had about 15 mins nap so far today. She wanted to do some craft stuff, but ended up throwing the bits all over the floor. So she is now grizzling in her cot while I pray she goes to sleep.

Natty, I'm not sure getting a cat just to be a mouser is s good move - do try a mousetrap first. If however you do genuinely want a family cat then a shelter is definitely the way to go. And maybe remind DH they do need attention, and food, and maybe vets bills ...

TheNatty · 04/05/2009 14:34

yes mouse trap in the mean time i think, we also have a massive problem with local cats spraying our house and garden, even coming INTO the house!
thought maybe a cat of our own would help all these problems?

knowing my luck ill get one of those cats that bring mice INTO the home lmao!! my mums cat does that lol.

LittleMissNorty · 04/05/2009 14:48

I also recommend the Manhattan boat trip....get to see everything then . NY is fab but completely knackering, so those shoes look perfect for all that walking you will be doing...with the grid system its so easy to think, oh that's not far, I'll walk..... The shopping is also fab!

If you have a problem with lots of cats Natty, adding another one into the equation will just cause lots of vet bills due to fighting I should think!

Just had a big sort out of DCs clothes to hand onto some friends tomorrow....they grow so quickly! Some of them are hardly worn....and others have done really well and are being passed on again having been given to me....I like that! Value for money when they're good enough for 3 little girls to wear

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/05/2009 14:53

It is good to see things being worn again Norty. I took a load of jamlet's stuff to charity last week, and it's nice to think that other people might enjoy having their DDs wearing it, but better if you know the people I'd say.

We just brought a load of new stuff into play. Things we'd bought in sales either last summer or after Xmas and were too big so got put on the top shelf. So she's looking particularly cute in her new outfits and there's more stuff up on the shelf that are still that bit too big. All I need to buy for this summer then are a couple of skirts and some tights.

Rialentless · 04/05/2009 15:10

Am pissed off and , it seems the event I thought we were going to today was last year

DH will either be really cross or he will die laughing.

Had a nice walk in the woods though...

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/05/2009 15:22

Oh, I've done that Ria - I once saw a poster for something I'd seen years before and got all excited as I thought it was on again but then read it more closely adn found it was a very old poster that had been kept up because someone liked the picture!

Rialentless · 04/05/2009 17:14

I feel like a prize tit and am very disappointed. I blame the internet

but it was a lovely walk in the woods, and there are other walks there that we plan to do in the future as it's not as far away as the forestry. Plus there were banks and banks of wild garlic and bluebells - really pretty

DH has gone to work now. It should be his last shift for 2 weeks (they rang after we got home to beg ask him to do tonight)

LackaDAISYcal · 04/05/2009 17:36

PMSL norty, if you have to ask that question it's no wonder you have a small age gap between DC

but 12 weeks already ...where has the time gone?

Oh dear Ria; just don't tell DH! If he asks whether you had a nice time, just say yes or vaguely say you missed it as you got there too late (it's not a lie )

I have a teething boy here this afternoon....he is gnawing on everything and very fractious, but I am wrinkling my nose up at him and he is doing it back

bumper are you still planning on extending your trip?

OP posts:
Rialentless · 04/05/2009 17:43

unfortunately DH went with us, but he likes the woods so that's OK (I wonder if he was swayed y the grafitti that said "doggers only")

have to cook fajitas for the boys now - DS1 was determined to eat "different stuff" this week. I aim to please!

TheNatty · 04/05/2009 18:06

dh is feeding the kids lol
i am actually eating a WHOLE MEAL without stopping to wipe hands/tell off for fighting etc etc

how sad is that? its made my day

dh seems to be getting over the mouse thing.. im gonna stretch it out as long as possible, as i dont much fancy a cat atm, i have enough to pay out for.

ellen and tom have spent nearly the whole day on the naughty step.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/05/2009 19:30

Jamlet been toublesome here too Natty. Had a look and seems her final canine is coming through - probably explains it. She has only wanted to sit and cuddle most of the day bless her.

The little girl who is incredibly ahead of her age as far as I can tell came round to visit (with her mum of course, she's not THAT advanced ). I apologised that jamlet was not feeling very sociable and explained about the tooth and her mum was very impressed - finally we have found something where we are ahead of wonder girl

Glad you had a nice time anyway Ria

OK, got to go finish off dinner, 2 types of curry and basmati rice

LackaDAISYcal · 04/05/2009 19:38

see jammy....they all do things at different times! that you have usurped the competitive mom though

OP posts:
TheNatty · 04/05/2009 19:49

lol jammy i have a friend like that. i must admit i do get a certain evil joy when thomas does anything first.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/05/2009 20:03

I don't know that she IS competative. Certainly not outwardly.

LittleMissNorty · 04/05/2009 20:43

I hate competitive parents...I have a couple of friends like that as well. I do my best not to say the sort of things that really wind me up....it worries people like me no end when their DC who is x weeks/months younger are doing things that DD can't. I was speaking to a friend about this recently and her DS1 was walking at 9 months....and her DS2 didn't walk until 18 months...they all catch up eventually.

Daisy, I was only saying wtf cos I haven't had a period since DS was born and I'm FF . Have no idea what is going on, and also need to have this bloody coil fitted, but they won't do it until I've had a period. Perhaps I'm having my menopause?

I've been to Sainsbury's tonight and bought myself a pair of those magnifying glasses for 12 quid....and its a revelation.....I can read what's on the screen

LackaDAISYcal · 04/05/2009 21:03

sorry jammy, I was trying to be flippant

OP posts:
Rialentless · 04/05/2009 21:07

norty, I feel like that when I bother put my specs on (if I can find them) I'll lend you a period if you like! Get an implant then you get x weeks on x weeks off (am toying with the idea of having it removed TBH, I have only put this last 2 stone on since I had it put in, and DM said the same thing - even though the medical stand it it's not hormone based so doesn't affect weight. How long does a coil last?)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/05/2009 21:13

Oh don't fret Daisy I'm not bothered.

Just done the big monthly Sainsburys order. Got reasonably close to the magical £100 for free delivery so added on some bits that we'll need next month to get there. Seems to spend that much but it will save us in the long run.

Rialentless · 04/05/2009 21:18

right, I'm off upstairs to do beautifying things to myself. Does anyone know if you use facial scrub before a face mask or after (can you tell I only go in for this kind of thing once in a blue moon?), or maybe even not. Am going to open my nice new salt scrub bar too

I am coming back though!

LackaDAISYcal · 04/05/2009 21:49

If only our weekly bill was as low as £100 jammy!!!

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/05/2009 21:51

Ah but that's only part of it Daisy. There's another £10 for the veg box each week and about £25 a week for fresh stuff from the supermarkets.

Rialentless · 04/05/2009 22:22

OK, am back - got bored. I used to love soaking in the bath for hours on end - I must be ill! And as for rubbing in body lotion, it's like painting that big bridge in Scotland. It's a heck of a lot less hassle to look old and haggard.

LackaDAISYcal · 04/05/2009 23:21

lol ria at your forth bridge analogy.....I feel like that about my laundry pile.

fair enough then jammy...we do it all inhouse once a week usually. We used to get a veg box but we had the best fed organic compost in all of Leeds so stopped it

I am going to take a wee MN break I think . I have been discussed on another thread with the inference that I have made a poster feel so unwelcome that they have flounced and the bully word was mentioned . I only found out about it as I happened to click on the thread and was happily reading and then my name was being bandied about and my words from a previous thread quoted and deconstructed. Not a pleasant experience; like walking in on your friends to hear them talking about you. Anyhoo, not good to be in that situation, or even worse to care about it.

I'll be around on FB though.

Aww don't go Daisy

Link me to the thread, and I'll give them my POV!
