sounds like bliss.......

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 28/04/2009 20:13

I love my children, I just don't love the noise they produce (or the mess)! Do yours argue all the time fairy? Mine are constantly bickering and it drives me nuts!

How are you?

HellHathNoFury · 28/04/2009 20:14

hello Holly!

Yes...twas delish. I am still fantasising.
Well worth having if you can get to one.
Why won't DS sleep?

SLEEP, damn you child!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 28/04/2009 20:14

I having a trip to Waitrose tomorrow! Luckily it's my closest supermarket! Hurrah!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/04/2009 20:16

Hi Holly

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 28/04/2009 20:16

Why can't I fucking type today I I'm!!

Hi fury! My ds won't sleep either. He's always far too busy for shit like that ! How's it going? When is no.2 due?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 28/04/2009 20:16

Hi jammy!!

FrazzledFairyFay · 28/04/2009 20:20

Mine bicker as well, and throw themselves on top of each other. They also constantly want whatever the other one has. Drives me potty.

I am good thanks Holly. We are going on holiday on Friday (Zante) . I have finally managed to fit into some of my pre-DD clothes. I have also bought this dress for the 3 weddings I've got to go to this summer, and it makes me feel fab.

I have also been back on ADs (for OCD) for a couple of weeks and am finally feeling better. It's taken me a long time to admit I needed to do it, but I am glad I have.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 28/04/2009 20:27

Oooo, I like Zante, 'tis beautiful! Hope you have a lovely time. Gorgeous dress, I love that colour and for fitting into pre dd clothes! I don't think that's ever gonna happen for me . Glad you are feeling better on the ADs.

FrazzledFairyFay · 28/04/2009 20:30

It's not that much of an achievement, it just means I am now a size 18 again, rather than a 20.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/04/2009 20:35

Love the dress Fairy!

FrazzledFairyFay · 28/04/2009 20:38

Thanks, it made me feel fab when I tried it on, and it's been a long time since I wore a dress that had that effect. Now I just need to find some fab shoes for my clodhoppers. That will be even more problematic

HellHathNoFury · 28/04/2009 20:43

lovely dresses fairy and well done for getting to an 18, actually. I am a 20 at the moment and even an 18 seems mammoth.

Probably because I keep eating burgers and chocolate.

Holly - DS #2 is due August 21

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/04/2009 20:43

Yes, I'm having problems finding shoes for my v broad feet for the wedding we're going to this summer. They need to be ultra comfy as I'll be running round doing the photos all day, but I'd like them to look a bit stylish too. I'm still hoping I can wear my (pre-DD) Monsoon dress - am almost there! (But having a bad run at the moment so it's not a certainty yet )

FrazzledFairyFay · 28/04/2009 20:47

Thanks Fury. I dream of being a 16, but tbh I doubt I'll ever get there. I am pretty happy with an 18 for now. DD is 3.6 now so it has taken rather longer than I hoped it would. I just love chocolate too much

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/04/2009 20:53

Fury - can I ask you a photography question? I know I want to get a flash to use at this wedding. I mean hopefully it'll be a gorgeously sunny day and all, but it might be pissing down and we have to do it all inside, and whatever I'll want to do some evening shots. Anyway, I know the little pop-up flash isn't that great and I really should get something better, but I'm wondering if I can get away with an on-camera flash or if I need to fork over for the extra kit to be able to have the flash working remotely off camera?

HellHathNoFury · 28/04/2009 21:00

Jammy - what camera do you have again?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/04/2009 21:01

Nikon D50. I'm looking at getting their SB600 flash, which I understand will need the SU800 command unit in order to work remotely.

LackaDAISYcal · 28/04/2009 21:03

gorgeous dress fairy......sadly I'm too short to carry off anything like that!!

GBK? we don't have them here.

jammy, DH thinks an on camera flash will be OK. The main problem, according to him (he is a keen amateur) with on camera flashes is red eye, but as you are working digitally this can easily be remedied on the computer. Also, separate flashes usually have bigger batteries and hence more power but he reckons that digital cameras are much better powered than his old horse powered ones so again shouldn't be an issue. It also depends how close you are going to get to people's faces as well....shadows can be a problem.

I think I have expressed that correctly!

I have knackered my back again . IT went crunch when I picked the car seat up. I'm dosed up on diclofenac and red wine but neither is helping. Need to get to the bone cruncher asap!

and i think I have rosacea

Hello everyone....

Fab dress Fairy....my wedding dress came from Monsoon

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/04/2009 21:04

Sorry to anyone with no interest in camers by the way!

Oh, and nursery say that they have some twins to move from the baby room to toddlers and then it'll be jamlet's turn

HellHathNoFury · 28/04/2009 21:04

get an external flash for sure - even if it's sunny a little fill-in flash never hurt.

If price is an issue, get one secondhand off ebay (I did!), as a lot of people upgrade to the latest and great all singing all dancing model and the old model goes really cheap....Even though the old model was all singing all dancing in 2007.

Or...

Get a 'no-name brand'. But I would not recommend this.
Cheaper... but a false economy, as later on you might miss the lack of TTL etc.
I wouldn't go for a generic brand, especially when I won't have a lot of time to compose the shots and check the bulb strength for each distance.

LackaDAISYcal · 28/04/2009 21:07

oh, and DH has said that sod this digital nonsense, he'll lend you his medium format press camera with big balloon flash......like this

HellHathNoFury · 28/04/2009 21:07

SB600 will be fine, you won't need a control unit (unless I am very much mistaken?)

I have an SB800 - even better and will last you many years.

I would not recommend built in flash for a wedding, personally, as they are not strong enough or diffuse enough.

An external flash with a diffuser will get you great lighting. (SB800 has a diffuser built in)
