Morning everyone! I seem to have the opposite problem - ds is waking up between 6 and 7am, having a bottle, then bout 8am has a bowl of porridge, then another bottle bout 10am, then lunch between 12 and 1300, then sometimes another bottle after lunch, bottle mid afternoon, dinner bout 5, then another bottle before bed ... bottles are 9oz and he drains most of them except his lunch one. Not really sure when I should start cutting down on milk cos he still seems so flippin hungry, even after devouring an entire stage 2 jar of hipp at each meal, plus pudding!!

hotmama · 19/05/2005 09:45

CID - blimmin heck - you have a full day then!

docket · 19/05/2005 11:33

CID, my ds is on a similar routine to yours, he eats/drinks like a trojan, he's quite a wee thing and the amount he consumes seems to be totally disproportionate to the size of him! he's also started waking up hungry in the middle of the night again so i think i'm going to have to give him even more, if that's possible!

CoveredInDribble · 19/05/2005 14:30

OUr ds could be described as anything but wee! Weighed in at 21lb7oz at 6 months (so about 4-5 weeks ago) and 72cm tall. He's currently trying to grow out of his 9-12month sleepsuits ....

Hopefully he'll slow down a bit (growth-wise) when he starts crawling at the moment it feels like all we're doing is feeding him!

Maisiemog · 19/05/2005 16:27

It seems to go from one extreme to the other these babies. Either you spend all day feeding them or spend all day with them refusing your delicious food.
Pog actually ate his porridge today mmm! But only half, then hands back in mouth and winge wah!!!
He can roll both ways, but seems to always want to roll to his left. Is this common? I have to put his rug against the sofa to deter him from rolling that direction - he'll end up lopsided.
I feed him pretty late on quite often (like at 10:30 pm) 'cos he wakes late. It does seem to stop too much night waking though (unless TEETH!!)
A bit of medised is good, stops the pain and lets him get a bit of shuteye. snoooooooze

biglips · 19/05/2005 17:50

maisie -

CoveredInDribble · 19/05/2005 21:23

Maisiemog - at the moment the Dribble Monster only ever rolls over his left shoulder, never right - even if there are loads of toys in his way and nothing in his way on the other side, he'll always roll the same direction. Of course, this has meant he gets stuck in some very precarious positions, and often screams to be rescued, but hey, am hoping it's just typical male stubbornness and he'll start going the other way soon!

biglips · 19/05/2005 23:33

CID - mine is same as yours - only rolled on her left and not right, and yes she sometimes screamed for me to roll her the other way for her!

Maisiemog · 20/05/2005 00:33

Pog still tries to roll to his left even with things in the way and gets stuck. He even rolls right onto his toys. Ouch!
I have been putting toys on the other side, to encourage him to roll to his right. I can see him looking at them and trying to roll towards them and then just thinking 'I know I'll roll to the left instead, I'm sure to get those toys that way. Waaaaaah!'
Doh!
(Well he 'is' a baby)
Dp went to see the last Star Wars film tonight and met up with some friends. He was telling me about one of their babies a little girl, who started off weighing 5lbs 11 oz full term and who now weighs twenty and a half pound and she's five and a half months old. WOW! She must eat all the other babies' burgers when they go out at night.
Apparently her growth curve is more of a 45 degree straight line.
Come on Pog eat your porridge there's a good baby!!

cazzybabs · 20/05/2005 22:06

Grace eats like a pig (everyone is amazed by her appitiite) but yet is still quite small (both waist size and height). She has stared crawling backwards and comando crawling forwards. She also has 2 teeth!

biglips · 21/05/2005 14:12

anyone finding that baba is having less sleep during the day?? as mine have 9 hours sleep then used to have 2 hours in afternoon and another 2 hours in early evening (well before 9pm), now she only have 2-3 hours

Maisiemog · 21/05/2005 15:46

Pog was so bad for having NO sleep for a while, that he seems to have lots now. Like yours he has a nap in the afternoon for about 2.5 hours and then he often has a sleep later on around 7:30 for up to 2 hours. He goes to bed about 1:30 and wakes up for a feed anytime between 7:30 and 9:30 then will sleep until 1 if I let him.
I don't get up until about 10:30 - lovely!!!
We currently have no routine at all and no other children to cater for, so we're making the most of it.

KathH · 22/05/2005 07:56

2 hr naps - i wish! Babymole now has the cold from hell, when i got up today it looked like his cot had been visited by something from ghostbusters - slime everywhere! Caught him trying to share the cat food yesterday - i cant believe that such a small person can get around so quickly altho he tends to prefer the SAS style of crawling where he uses his elbows! Still showing absolutely no interest in sitting up but is babbling away - ds1 reckons he heard him say power rangers yesterday altho i have my doubts Hope everyones ok.

Bellie · 22/05/2005 11:17

Hi all - toe now operated on although still looks gruesome and hurts alot if I walk or stand for any length of time. Am not allowed to wear socks or shoes for at least another 3-4 weeks lets hope that the weather improves from the rain in the last 2 days!!
DD has decided that sleeping and eating are too boring as she wants to play all the time and is getting frustrated when I put her in her cot or highchair! ....and it was all going so well too....

biglips · 22/05/2005 21:03

bellie - (ouch!) why did you have an op on your toe? if you mind asking

jbadgirl · 23/05/2005 15:30

just got back from southampton after seeing the neurologist. she thinks ds has cerebal palsy and that the reason why he has brain damage is because of a urine infection i got at 28 weeks, i just hope that ds will catch up as much as he can. its also difficult as his vision is very poor and they dont think he can actually see . the amount of guilt i feel as it does all boil down to me at the end of the day.

beansprout · 23/05/2005 15:45

Jbadgirl - I'm so sorry to hear your news but please, please, don't give yourself a hard time. How can it be your fault?
What else did they say and what happens now? Big, big hug to you.

cazzybabs · 23/05/2005 15:58

Jbadgirl it is not your fault. And your son is so blessed to have you who love him and you are so blessed to have him. You will laugh together and have fun. Big hugs from me and please give your darling son a really really big cuddle!

huppa · 23/05/2005 20:52

Jbadgirl - sorry you´re feeling so down, but please don´t feel guilty - it is not your fault. Was the neurologist able to make suggestions about what sort of support/therapy etc. might be available? I´m really sorry you´re having to go through this - hugs to the both of you.

Bellie · 23/05/2005 21:21

jbadgirl - big hugs to you - please don't feel guilty about this. What are the next steps

Biglips - had my ingrowing toenail removed.

florenceuk · 23/05/2005 22:20

jbg don't feel guilty - it's not your fault. Lots of virtual hugs and all the best looking forward.

biglips · 24/05/2005 10:44

baba is nearly crawling - she just need oiling as seh is so quirky and plus her two top teeth are coming thru - before i know she be back answering me

baba had been waking me up again - TWICE - in the last 2 nights and she is acting as starving, she is back on her solids for the past 3 days (hooray) but poss to top up her milk more

geogteach · 24/05/2005 11:14

We're back - not quite adjusted yet though as took DS2 to swimming this morning in short trousers and no socks, didn't I look the neglectful mummy in the pouring rain!
He has finally conqured rolling and sitting so all that sun has had some effect. He is getting through at least 5 jars of baby food a day, he is going to have to learn to like my cooking as i'm not keeping this up, not very interested in milk though, just 3 6oz bottles that he doesn't finish. Spanish caby food seems to come in a florescent green colour, just in case anyone was looking for an alternative to the tango look.
Jd very sorry to hear your news, I have a friend who had her first son when I had DS1 who has cp and is 4 now, and my DH is a developmental peadiatrician so let me know if you have questions I might be able to get answers for.
Less than a fortnight till I go back to work now, DD is moving out of the baby unit into the nursery and DS2 is going for a couple of trial sessions next week, my babies are all growed up!
Now I think i'd better do some washing - forgot DS2 is also sleeping through the night, how could i miss the most important news!
