Congratulations to Hotmama. I saw your pregnancy test news on another thread.

Toots · 26/05/2005 09:40

Oh my goodness, another 'I'm being ignored' tantrum, and another swoosh of people rushing to stroke a bruised ego. I hope you all don't do this when the babies are toddlers - remember, ignore bad behaviour, praise good!

I'm sorry to come out of the woodlurk to say this, but I think there's some insincerity here. My theory is, that when people leap in and say 'I've got this going on, help' when they haven't said 'hello how are you all', or responded to some things that others have been asking upline then people's first thought is to think 'stuff you, what are you bringing to the party?. Or maybe that's just me.

Anyway, have skimmed and want to say Jbadgirl, really thinking about you, hope you're OK. Rickman can totally understand why you're reluctant to hand ds2 over, but if his dad is basically loving and kind, he obviously needs him. And Nannyjo, in response to your question, I'd cut out the huge puddings, and see if he'll take more milk.

Maisiemog · 26/05/2005 09:54

Toots, I don't mind when people express their feelings in a non-offensive way - They are entitled to them and this is supposed to be a supportive group. I personally, am not offended and don't see it as 'bad' behaviour.
I don't agree that if someone doesn't respond to my requests I shouldn't respond to theirs, there could be any number of reasons why people don't respond, it doesn't have to be anything sinister.

Toots · 26/05/2005 09:57

Maisie - your second paragraph indicates a misunderstanding of my post.

Maisiemog · 26/05/2005 09:58

Really! Got to go now.

KathH · 26/05/2005 11:12

DS 2 hates milk with a passion so am sure he's not drinking enough but i give him yoghurts and stuff like macaroni cheese and things. It's probably not as much as the recommended pint a day but my other 3 couldnt bear the stuff either and they're all healthy 12, 8 and 6 yr olds. If you dont think they're getting enough maybe speak to hv about vitamin supplements or maybe follow on milk? Another good way of checking for dehydration is to put your finger in their mouth and if they're nice and slobbery then they're ok. (GP told me that when babymole had bronciolitis at 9 wks - dont fancy doing it now with the teeth!)

CoveredInDribble · 26/05/2005 11:44

Hi all! Bibiboo, ds wasn't toooo bad over the weekend, but grumpy and not his usual self - bonjela did the trick though, and now his tooth is through, he keeps putting his fingertip in his mouth and fiddling with it! Come to think of it, he's using his two index fingers a lot now - he sort of pokes stuff now rather than grabbing as much!

Re milk, ds is on formula, and he's been drinking less over the last few days, but then he's been eating more in the way of solids. He has a 9oz bottle when he wakes up (bout 7am but this morning was 8am, yay!!!), and a 9oz bottle before he retires for the night usually between 6 and 7pm. Through the day, he has porridge for breakkie (made with bout 4-5oz milk I think), a whole jar of baby food at lunch (or equivalent amount of my cooking when he can be persuaded and I can be bothered!) and same again at dinner, plus lately he's been polishing off some fruit puree as pudding as well. He also has 2-3 more bottles of formula during the day, but lately it's been only 2 rather than 3, and he's only been drinking bout half of each. Having said that, ds has always been a bit of a pig!

NannyJo · 26/05/2005 14:42

toots, i hope your comment wasn't aimed at me. What is wrong with trying to get some attention to ask for advice on something that i am worried about to a thred of people who are all in the same boat as me.

I thought that this site was meant for that purpose, not to have digs at innocent people!!

Bellie · 26/05/2005 20:45

Hi toots good to hear from you and hope that you are finding things a little easier now.
NannyJo - sorry that you feel that you are being ignored, but looking back at the threads I am not sure that you are being ignored - I know that I often come on here very quickly when dd is asleep and tend to either ask my question or just post my news before she wakes up. Also we are a complete cross-section of the 'baby population' on here, and I know that I tend to focus on the parts that I have an interest in. If you need a response quickly to a question I tend to post separately (I have one running at the moment on feeding as I am having trouble with dd) and have loads of responses from people that have either previously experienced the same issues or are going through the same. I guess in a roundabout way I am saying that no-one gets deliberately ignored.

geogteach · 26/05/2005 20:46

Toots glad you're still out there how are things going?

arrraagggh · 26/05/2005 20:57

Hiya, im new to this thread. I was just wondering how everyone is doing with the whole weaning thing. My ds is a unpredictable sumtimes he is really good and eatsall his meals other days he wont touch a meal except breakfast. He will eat cereals and pureed fruit well anything sweet really but not proper meals. DS was born prem and only weighed 5lb10oz so is quite small for his age and has alot of catching up to do. I took him to be weighed the other day after 8wks (we just moved) and he only weighed 16lbs and has now dipped in the growth chart. I was stressing about his meals before and now I feel so frustrated and helpless. Ive tried the homemade foods, tinned stuff. Have you any suggsetions what I can try him with and also how much does your baby weigh?

aargh - funnily enough have started another thread on this - are all 6mo this difficult to feed and have had some really good hints that seem (well at least for today) to be working. Veg that seem to0 sometime go down well with dd are sweet potato and butternut squash - both very sweet but also very orange to remove from clothes!

huppa · 27/05/2005 08:27

Weaning here is going o.k. but ds eats sooooo slooooowly it´s driving me mad. He does eat a reasonable amount - it just takes ages. I´m trying to convince myself that he´s just trying to savour my delicious home cooking, but as he does the same with jars, I think he´s just slow.

Still no teeth or crawling here, but he´s rolling all over the place.

arrraagggh - welcome and try not to get too stressed -remember milk is still the main source of nutrition at this stage.

arrraagggh · 27/05/2005 09:57

Thanx every1, how are your babies during the night? Ive just started cc this week and cant believe the improvement.

biglips · 27/05/2005 11:50

to ask a silly question.. whats a cc?

Nannyjo- as long your baba is gaining weight steady, then everyone should be happy, and i love expermenting foods too as last night baba had lamb chops and vegs, pureed of course but abit lumpy nowadays (as seh is not gagging anymore). baba is taking less milk and foods altogether now (is she on a diet?!) so only taking 25-30oz milk and at least 2 bowl of solids (for brekkie and savoury foods - i use the powder cow and gate foods but her main meal is proper foods).

huppa - mine is feeding sssoooo slowly too, so she is slowly getting back to normal but still clamping her mouth shut unless im playing aeroplanes sounds, or singing to her.. its funny when she is trying to laugh properly and knowing that if she opens her mouth to laugh, the foods will be in her mouth (hee hee!!)

arrrgggghhhhh - welcome .... my baba is waking me up again as she is teething atm. so feeling abit zzzz!! or otherwise she sleep like a log

biglips · 27/05/2005 11:56

bellie - im trying atm bland foods (scrambled egg) and sweet foods (banana, apple with baby rice) but she is mad on apple crumble powder atm but i noticed she is preferring real foods (lamb chops with mixed vegs)

CID - mine is dribbling everywhere atm as teething (top teeth and i can feel 2 molar teeth coming thru too!!) so she is liking the bonjela (yum yum!)

baba crawled properly for the first time last night and 2 days ago she sat up with toppling over too (all coming at once!)

biglips · 27/05/2005 11:59

ive just been to aquafit this morning and my shoulders and back are aching (due to carrying the baba)....

does anyone know how to get black banana out of clothes (baba had banana the other day and went on her clothes but cannot get it out on normal wash)

biglips · 27/05/2005 11:59

sorry if i missed anyone else out of this as havent been around for past couple of days as been tired !!

biglips · 27/05/2005 12:13

oh and congratulations to hotmama1 (shes having another baba in jan 06!)

biglips · 27/05/2005 12:36
