Welcome Pumpkin Lover!

Ds is covering some ground as well, sort of mix of rolling, commando style and just shuffling. Have also had eczema as well including a lovely big patch on his face so I know how you feel KathH! The Singing Dectective has gone through my mind before now!

Hope you enjoyed your glass of wine Rickman, my god you deserve it!!

hotmama · 12/05/2005 11:12

Hello Pumpkinlover - missed your welcome.

It's sunshining here - may even do some washing (not sure about the ironing though)

Maisiemog · 12/05/2005 12:11

Hotmama, you're great supporting your sister. I don't think you can get enough support when you start breastfeeding. It took me 8 WEEKS to breastfeed exclusively and the support from two out of the three midwives at our local midwifery(?) was abysmal. Luckily my dp was amazing and never let me give up. Plus Pog was so teeny and jaundiced and sleepy, it gave me something to focus on as a goal.
He had to learn as well, as he was not getting it at all to begin with. Poor old Pog. (Poor old mummy ow!}

biglips · 12/05/2005 13:12

well think baba is on solids strike ATM !! not impressed!...

i only tried BF for 2 days and iwas in agony as was in tears, cos first i had a emergency c-section on the friday and my head was fuzzy till tues (5 days of head in cloud), DP goes home leaving me in hossy, mum moved to France the day after baba was born and i was all hell sore plus ive got very sensitive nipples and ended up with brown crust on both nipples by 24 hours later (baba is a VERY hard sucker!) so once the bottles came in, i was sssoooo relieved! ... but ill do it again, deffo, on my next baba and fingers cross if i can crack it..

biglips · 12/05/2005 13:16

Covered - i liked very much being pg (never loves), had no morning sickness, absolutely nothing (which it wasnt fair as i wanted to know what was my cravings were), but towards the last month of pg, i was knackered and wanted to live in a wheelchair. i was 12 days overdue and i went in to be induced as got fed up waiting and feeling SSSOOOOOO heavy ... lets hope my next baba is tiny!!

bibiboo · 12/05/2005 13:17

Does anyone know how to get orange out of clothes? We sometimes use Hipp Organic too, and also had no success with getting the stains out, except to whip clothes off dd immediately, splodge on vanish gel and wash straight away...not very practical or eco-friendly considering she can eat 3 of these orange goop concoctions a day! I've tried about brands of stain remover when the stains are dry to no avail, so am now only going to put pretty, expensive clothes on her for photographs.

I must say, I am very jealous of you cinema-going mums. No baby-friendly places round here for me to take dd. Recreating the cinema atmosphere in the livingroom doesn't really have the desired effect if the local kids are ringing the bell to get their ball back from our garden every 20 minutes.

Bean, lil bean sounds like he's thriving on breastmilk, well done you!

Hope it's a glorious day where all of you are too, especially those of you not back in work yet who can enjoy it. I can merely gaze at the sunshine and lovely green trees out of my windon, which I can open a whole inch an a half. I guess that's to stop us jumping out - good idea really, this place can get to you sometimes!

biglips · 12/05/2005 13:21

bibi - i just went in the day when all the kids are at school (it was only me, dp and baba in the cinema )

hotmama · 12/05/2005 13:28

Biglips - there're little sods aren't they sometimes when they go on hungerstrike.

Luckily, dd has started scoffing after her blip a few weeks ago. Take heart, that other mumsnetters have said until the first birthday, most of the nutrition comes from milk so don't worry about the hungerstrike - It'll get sorted soon (fingers crossed icon).

My beginning also was a nightmare, was in hossy for 6 days and I didn't have a c-section! Lost 4 pints of blood uhmed and ahhed about a transfusion (so milk was late coming in), have flat nipples so had to wear nipple thingys (this meant my milk supply reduced as sucking wasn't as efficient as it could be) and then my dp's dad died 3 weeks later. Dp is an only child so his mum came to stay with us for a few weeks. Then dd started to lose weight so gave up the bf malarky - though will still try again next time.

In comparison, this weaning malarky is a breeze - but that might because I have a regular supply of red wine in the evening to keep me sane.

biglips · 12/05/2005 13:32

hotmama - i think ill buy myself a bottle too for tonight while DP is at pool

Slave2Babe · 12/05/2005 22:11

bibiboo ... if you have a cold steriliser, when you empty the water out, pour it into a bowl and soak the baba clothes! (or just drop some new tablets into a bowl) It even shifts the Heinz Mum's Own Sweet and Sour!

Slave2Babe · 12/05/2005 23:21

Anyone else longing for the days when you could put baba down, make a cuppa and come back into the room knowing they would be where you left them??!

DD is 27.5 weeks. She is crawling speedily and can sit on her own. We have babbling and the odd "baba" and "dada" (she has no idea what the ymena yet but seems to enjoy the sounds she can make!) ... my name seems to be "uuuurrrrahhhhh" which she yells if i am not within view or if i'm too slow with the spoon/cup at feeding time!

Maisiemog · 13/05/2005 03:33

Slave that sounds like HARD work, at least Pog is just rolling about a bit. Crawling!!! What next! Starting the car and whizzing off!
I'll make you a cuppa and bring it round

biglips · 13/05/2005 09:12

welcome Slave

baba still on solids strike .. she wasnt even interested in the bottles either as only had 4 bottles yesterday and 2-3oz out of normal 6oz. but i made her scrambled egg (pureed) and she wolfed it down, so later on i made more and guess what she didnt wanna know (cant win!!) so she woke me up at 6am for a 2oz feed... she may take after her Dad as he doesnt really eat much in warm weathers

hotmama · 13/05/2005 23:38

OMG - I have been up to check dd and I keep finding her on her FRONT! I know that the advice is that by the time that they can roll over they are over the risk of SIDS - but I nearly filled my pants the first time.

Is anyone else finding this - I know she can roll over both ways happily - am I just being stupidly paranoid - or just a normal first time mum?

KathH · 14/05/2005 07:47

hotmama - i think being paranoid comes with the territory! If it makes you feel better i thought with ds2 who's my 4th that i would be really laid back and chilled. I'm not, i still get really paranoid and think that i should know better! I think once they're able to roll over and then roll back then it's ok. DS2 sleeps on his front, in fact all mine have been tummy sleepers, except ds1 who used to go to sleep doing handstands, laying the across the cot with his legs going up the rails (mind you he's 6 now and still sleeps like it now in his bed

hotmama · 14/05/2005 08:49

Thanks Kathh - I'm calmer now. DD actually slept really well hence got up at 8.30 this morning - I feel positively slattern! (though nap timings have now gone out of the window)

beansprout · 14/05/2005 09:43

Ds has also started rolling over in his cot. In fact, he now rolls over (and back) quite a lot. Gets him across his room but as it is still all a bit uncontrolled I often find him one roll away from a head bump. Those days of just leaving him are definitely over!

docket · 14/05/2005 10:10

Good Morning All

ds also rolling here there and everywhere and(huuuuuge drum roll....) he is finally taking a bottle!! I am so delighted and relieved that even shocking sleep deprivation seems like a bit of a laugh

He's also sort of drinking water, I find those tommee tippee ones with the hole in the top of the spout best as some water will inadvertantly make its way into his mouth whether he likes it or not. most of which then goes down his top granted.

hotmama i also nearly had a coronary when i found ds asleep on his front yesterday but i think once they've made their way there themselves there's no need for concern.

jbadgirl · 14/05/2005 12:47

hi everyone, have been busy at work so havent been able to post for a while.

ds is doing really well with solids now and has 3 lots a day!

No sign of teeth yet...oh well maybe soon!

cazzybabs · 14/05/2005 12:53

hotmama is your dd called Grace - and mine. How confusing!

She is currently dicing with death - trying to pull the bin and the drying rack on top of her and good mother I am is reading Mumsnet! hope everyone else is OK

Maisiemog · 14/05/2005 13:25

Docket, hip hip hooray! Three cheers for baby Docket"!!!
How did you manage that?

docket · 14/05/2005 19:12

Gave him a bottle with one of those brown latex (ugh!) teats and he took it straight off. At the very least I know now that he can do it even if he starts refusing again!

I was out for the day and bought a couple of those Hipp jars to see ds through and guess what... his clothes have been tango'd!

biglips · 14/05/2005 20:36

i found baba on her front twice now and yesterday i panicked so i had to turn her head onto her side but twice she put her nose back onto the mattress.... the way baba sleep since from birth is on her back, but the past 2 months i find her on her left side and always have her fleece over her eyes

she managed to eat cornflakes with apricots today and 2 bottles, as long she is happy though

how long is your babies? mine is 72cm long

biglips · 14/05/2005 20:37

dockets - mine used to have those brown latex teats when baba was first born but she suffered from thrush in her mouth so i changed over to Tippee teats and she recovered quickly.

biglips · 14/05/2005 21:03

ive noticed that baba loves minted peas with anything, as she is sort of eating her tea now with chicken
