Rickman, just saw your gorgeous ds on the members profile- one thing though...
He clearly has my baby's share of hair, she is as bald as a coot and would really like some of it back please
Same to all you other hairy-headed babies out there - how's about sharing a little?
On a lighter note - I'm off to see Derren brown tonight - yay!

hotmama · 10/05/2005 18:16

Biglips - you lucky thing - what's your secret! If you started at 8 weeks do you give in a bottle or have you moved to a cup - any recommendations?

Bellie · 10/05/2005 21:37

Water a problem here too - mostly down the chin and soaking clothes! Am perservering with a bottle at the moment having tried loads of different cups!

CoveredInDribble · 11/05/2005 12:15

Hi all, the attack of the radioactive orange hipp food continues - am desperately hoping we get some nice weather here soon, so I can try the sunlight tip - it would appear that the bibs are the ONLY thing that the Dribble Monster has got orange stuff down that have successfully come clean in the wash - everything else has orange splodges on still. Ho hum.

hotmama · 11/05/2005 12:22

CID - I have seen some orange muslins in Mothercare - originally thought they were foul - but now I see the use!

The majority of dd's tops now have a few orange splodges - fairy non-bio obviously doesn't do the job.

DD is sleeping after lunch - still doesn't want water.

Maisiemog · 11/05/2005 12:36

Are all baby foods this colour??? I'm sure I've seen ones in the shops which are less neon coloured.

biglips · 11/05/2005 13:31

i cant really give you any secret as they arent any!!! sorry!, you may as well start a thread of "6 mths old refusing water - HELP!" and see what you all come up with.

i thought last week that baba had the thrush as she had spots around her private parts, have gave her 2 baths since and it gone, so prob was nappy rash but it wasnt a rash it was spots !! so i cancelled docs appointment.

took baba to mums and babies group ystrdy and i noticed with baba she smiled her head off to grown ups but with babies she stared and stared till she is ok with them - i havent mixed her with other babies for about a month coz ive been so busy but now ive sorted everything out and can relax..

biglips · 11/05/2005 13:32

any of you starting to brush babas teeth yet?

biglips · 11/05/2005 13:32

as i havent !!

biglips · 11/05/2005 13:32

plus i havent given her a cup too - always bottle

CoveredInDribble · 11/05/2005 15:18

We haven't got any teeth yet to brush!! Df convinced they're imminent .... but we've been thinking that for what feels like months! Stupid question, when they finally cut a tooth, will the whole tooth appear quite quickly, or does it take a while, so you have just the tip showing at first, then more tooth gradually, or are we going to wake up one morning and suddenly there'll be a tooth? (Can you tell it's our first one? )

beansprout · 11/05/2005 15:49

CID - I think ds's first tooth is coming through at the moment. There is just a hard tip for now and from watching other babies, it will take a while to come all the way through.

Bean is still a food free zone, despite repeated attempts. Have just had him weighed and he is 19lb, which puts him at about the 70th percentile. HV v impressed that this is on breastmilk alone and so, for once, mum feels relieved and proud instead of anxious about the lack of food.

pumpkinlover · 11/05/2005 16:53

Hello - it's taken me 7 months but I've found my way here (thanks to beansprout).

Haven't got anything useful to say - just thought I'd introduce myself...DS (my first) was born on 7th Oct - a week late. I think I'm pretty lucky with him - he sleeps OK - usually wakes once in the night but easy to settle.
He's got 2 teeth at 5 months but no signs of any more.
He can sit, but he can't be a*d. No crawling, no rolling over, no movement really - for which I'm grateful .
Nearly bit the spoon off when bad mum started giving him food at 4 months. At the same time he discovered the bottle & has turned his nose up at my breasts ever since. Oh well, at least dh still likes them .
The only thing I'm having problems with is liquid - he won't drink anything but milk - and then only from a bottle. Well, he will drink from a pint glass but he's not very good at it.

KathH · 11/05/2005 18:36

we're cleaning our 2 teeth. Have tried various cuppybeaker things and babymole just doesnt get it, he can hold them but then tips it all over his head! We've bought some handle things that fit over the bottle and he can hold that so i guess a step in the right direction. He's still making absolutely no attempt to sit up but is crawling v.speedily and babbling (and growling) so i guess he'll do it when he's ready. The pox have healed over nicely as well now so looking a bit more pleasing to the eye instead of son of the singing detective.

Maisiemog · 11/05/2005 18:40

Hi Pumpkinlover, I take it your baby is drinking milk from a pint glass, not old peculiar or scrumpy?
Kath I've got this image in my head now of a baby mole with those two teeth at the front that they have, and glasses. Like in Dangermouse. What was his name that mole?

KathH · 11/05/2005 20:04

Penfold?

Maisiemog · 11/05/2005 20:08

Yes that's it! BUt a cute version with a nappy on. Is babymole on the members area.
Rickman, lovely breakdancing baby, very cute.

KathH · 11/05/2005 21:45

have just put a piccy on members profiles - its a couple of months old now tho.

hotmama · 11/05/2005 21:47

Rickman - sorry to hear that it was a year ago that you left Xp. my thoughts are with you XXX

well yesterday was a different story as baba refused all solids and hardly had any bottles either, prob only 3 bottles !!! so i thought im gonna be up aaaalllll night now, she slept right thru. Bought the mattress from ebay to fit in the cotbed in her own bedroom, cant wait to get my bedroom back ..

went to piccys yesterday to watch XXX 2 and the best part was that baba slept all teh way thru it

baba is now learning to roll onto her tummy and then roll back onto her back, was doing it for ages on the play gym as its all softbut then she banged her head on the hard carpet so i had to laugh at her and she wasnt sure so she laughed back (phew!! not a wailing baba)

welcome Pumpkinlover - have fun on here and will be willing to help you (and same to everyone)

biglips · 12/05/2005 08:46

ill be going to a Toy library today as baba loves toys (and so all babies do too)

biglips · 12/05/2005 09:00

one of my best friend is due in this sept (more or less the same as my due day last year - 19 sept)... god im feeling weird as this time last year i was pg (obviously!!) but i miss all that special excitement feeling etc.. anyone else the same? as im not broody at all but just miss that special feeling

CoveredInDribble · 12/05/2005 09:11

I know exactly what you mean biglips - one of my friends is due in november and I keep remembering what it was like to be pregnant, and I kinda miss it! Makes df laugh though - by the time ds was 9 days overdue and I had to be induced, I was definitely not liking being pregnant!

Have to admit to being a bit broody as well though, but we want ds to be a bit older before we try for number 2!

Ds was 7 months old on monday, and can sit up pretty well unless he reaches too far for something, but then when he lands on his face he can roll from his tummy to his back, but not yet in the other direction, and no crawling yet. He does do the spinning round on his tummy thing though sometimes - he spent a couple of nights in his travel cot recently cos we were decorating his bedroom, and he managed to turn through ninety degrees and wedge himself at one end of the cot - not comfy when you realise he's v tall for his age - following the 98% line for height!

Welcome to pumpkinlover!

hotmama · 12/05/2005 09:12

Morning Biglips.

I know how you feel - weird isn't it - oh how the pain of childbirth becomes a distant memory.

My sis is due to have her first in Aug and it is really nice as there is a big age gap between us - she is 28 in July and I was 38 in March - never really did the same things before. It's really nice to be able to give her advice or more to the point things I wish I had known (the big one being make sure she knows the number of a breastfeeding counsellor if she wants to breastfeed - I didn't and gave up after 10 weeks )

I have told her about mumsnet, but I don't think she is using it yet - I have told her my name so I had better be nice in case she is lurking!
