Thanks Florence.
Geo - that hipp baby food is totally ORANGE!!! I got a jar in the progress pack from Boots. Carrot and tattie, radioactively orange. Pog had to wear sunglasses and I had my eyes shut. I don't know if it went in his mouth?
Is it always the same food in those progress packs?
Made liver, rice and broccoli for us last night and pureed it for pog. Tried mixing it with formula - 'yuck!' said Pog. Tried it later mixed with some water and a bit of the old ghastly pureed dried apricot thing. He loved it!!!
Still haven't actually done the Pilates thing. Watched half of it though - I don't know if it's working yet.

Maisiemog · 08/05/2005 01:18

Rickman, how is the breakdancing baby?? I hope you have found time for a wee by now.

KathH · 08/05/2005 07:56

Rickman - i think you're fab - i struggle with 4 and i have dh or perhaps i struggle because i've got dh ! Babymole is a right speedy little thing - spent all yesterday moving things out of his way as he's realised he can zoom over to the dvds and then pull them all of the shelves, he ate the newspaper and ripped up my magazine. The stairgate had to go up between the living room and dining room as he was found lurking near the cat's bowl! We have french doors in the dining room so dont think it would have been long till he was out! He's still not sitting up yet tho, eldest 3 definately were at 7 mths but he was 3 weeks early so i suppose it could be anytime. The reflux is definately getting better, only sick about once a day now. Have booked a holiday to Paignton in July and in a moment of madness invited mil. Still i suppose we may get out on our own. Countdown is on for "proper" holiday to Lanzarote in October. Hope everyones ok.

jbadgirl · 08/05/2005 09:42

Well work is ok still rather stay home and look after ds though.

biglips - ds was born 4 weeks prem was due 16th nov!

cazzybabs · 08/05/2005 11:09

the 3rd birthday party was fine - very simple and I hope everyone hads a good time. Me, I ate too much chocolate cake andf felt sick - oh well. And sucked port through chocolate fingers! My friend brought her 3 day old baby - he was soooo tiny!

Grace can now crawl, albit it slowly and backwards. and yet again has the snottest nose from hell!

biglips · 08/05/2005 11:24

cazzy - you forget how tttiiinnyyyy your own baba was as they dont half grow!!

Baba got a fave food (just found out last night), fresh fish (bass), waffle but mashed and mint peas! blend altogether and pureed it....she was shouting at me for more!!

rickman - i admire you looking after 4 kids so you should give yourself a pat on the back and to be proud - my baba is my only child and i couldnt imagine having 4 kids myself (no no no no) too much hard work!!

kathh - i know what you mean as i wish i had eyes in hte back of my head but i havent come to the hardest bit yet (once baba is walking - arrggghhh!). i caught her eating a tissue, she had a plastic bag last night when we were emptying our shopping (as i put her in her walker), she is very sticky fingers and now we are shouting firmly "No", she is getting the grip of what that means as she either laughs at you back or shouts at you back!!
not sitting up or crawling properly yet..
ive bought baba a swimming pants and ill be taking her swimming tmrw.... ill have a go in the bath first today after my archery (dont look like im going coz its windy)

biglips · 08/05/2005 11:28

cazzy - my mum is in france atm sorting out her house and will be back home on tues - gotta pick her up from bham airport whilst baba is getting looked after by DP's sis.

once mum comes home, we are all gonna sit down and talk about the rules sort of... (me and DP had nearly split up twice over mum) .... so ive had a good 2 weeks without mum as no tensions between me and DP

Maisiemog · 08/05/2005 13:35

Biglips good luck with the mum thing. I take it this is your mum not your mil? Does she live with you?
Don't go to archery if it's too windy! We don't want you shooting your mum by accident.
My dp's parents live 45 miles away so we only see them every couple of weeks for a day, but they are really nice and LOVE Pog (of course - they're hardly going to ignore him 'What's that noisy thing, take it away?!')
My mum comes over about once a week, but she mainly comes when invited, she doesn't invite herself round. So far she's been cool. Except for looking unfeasibly worried about Pog whenever I mention any little concern. It's like I just announced he had contracted dengue fever, when I mention he has a sniffle.(docket sp?! ) Grandparents seem to worry quite a lot, or is that just Pog's?

biglips · 08/05/2005 16:24

oh well, managed 2.5 hours of archery before i nearly froze!! and it had been windy all day but just gone worse now.. feel so hhiiiggghhhh (on fresh air)

yes maisie - it is my mum and she is living with us ATM... as she split up from her partner as didnt work out and came back home and she got no home or job - nothing! so i dont mind her staying as she cleaned up for me (hoover and dishes - aahhh bliss!! but it wont last forever as mum is moving back to France for good ) whilst i look after baba and cook and do run around jobs too. Dp only cook at weekends where before he use to cook 7 days a week (he loves cooking, me i dont mind) but i said dont get used to it once i go back to work

CoveredInDribble · 09/05/2005 12:42

Have to agree re the Hipp baby food - ds had some yesterday for his dinner (think it was something like noodles, pork & veg) and despite repeated attempts with baby wipes afterwards, his face took on this strange orange glow - he looked like David Dickinson or Dale Winton (but cute!), df started calling him an Oompah Loompah. Luckily it washed off properlyin the bath, and ds is now a nice normal colour again! Still can't believe he's 7 months old today!!

geogteach · 09/05/2005 21:21

Ds slept for 10 unbroken hours last night

biglips · 09/05/2005 23:58

the last 2 6am mornings baba had been waking up for a feed (usually sleep till 9am) so poss to top up the bottle. Today ive had baba weighed (hooray!!) 22lb on the dot! i feel that she was more as she feels like 2 stone!!

took baba swimming for first time and she loves it, was in pool for 45 mins and she was whacked out by the time i put her back in the car ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!

tonight she had just potato and carrot and powder rice pudding

biglips · 10/05/2005 00:01

coveredid -

geog - hooray !! 10 unbroken sleep (hooray!!)

is anyone taking (12) monthly photo of baba to see changed? i am and this month she looks she lost abit of weight off her face

Maisiemog · 10/05/2005 01:29

Where do you post photos?? I would like to put up one of Pog? But how?!?
Porridge and pear(tinned) for breks cottage pie and turnip twice today and steamed apple and sultana for pud (uuuuuuuum!)

Maisiemog · 10/05/2005 01:59

Ok, I managed to upload a picture of pog, in members profiles. I am feeding him at the moment, so only one hand free to type

Bellie · 10/05/2005 07:01

Hi all - sounds like everyone is ok - Rickman you are amazing and I take my hat off to you - I find it hard with one when dh is away so 4 is unbelievable.
10 hours geogteach .
Won't be around for a bit - going into hospital to have my toenail cut out and can you believe have to have a general c-section was just a spinal . Upsetting that my first night away from dd will be in hosptial rather than a night of passion with dh .

hotmama · 10/05/2005 08:49

Morning to you all. Blimin heck Rickman - 4 and coping alone - you deserve a sainthood!

Grace is also doing the 'spinning' on her tummy thing - really cute.

Re using olive oil - I am as it is in the recipes in the Annabel Karmel book - great recipes.

I think only baths do get rid of the orange glow however hard you scrub with wet wipes there alwayse seems to be an orange hue.

Has anyone cracked giving water? I have tried warm/cold/bottle/sippy cup etc - and it just gets spat out. Is it just a case of persevering or have you find a way that works?

docket · 10/05/2005 10:13

Rickman, you are a goddess. I often read your posts and think you sound so sorted.

MM, very cute pic! There is a passing resemblance to BW there i think!

hotmama, water a problem here, i do try at every mealtime (beaker) but he isn't keen, i think persistence must be the key. I eat and drink with him in the hope he will eventually copy me.

good luck bellie!

hotmama · 10/05/2005 10:43

Docket - is that a beaker as in just like a cup without the sippy thing?

Do you just pour it in - never thought of just teaching her to drink it like we do - thought she would be too young - I'll have a go at lunch.

CoveredInDribble · 10/05/2005 10:47

Hi all! We're still having problems with water here too - I know ds can work his cup, as you can tell by the expression on his face when he accidentally gets some water out! Tried v dilute fruit juice yesterday - am pretty sure he had a few sips, but he was fair less than impressed! Might try him with just a beaker (ie no sippy lid thing) tonight a dinner!

docket · 10/05/2005 11:25

HM I've been using a variety of cups with spout thingys, tommee tippee ones and be free bottle to cup trainer ones. He's none too impressed with any of them alas!

huppa · 10/05/2005 11:30

Ds is no great fan of water. Like everyone else I´ve tried a variety of cups, bottles, beakers etc. On the rare occasions he does get anything in his mouth he much prefers to let it dribble down his chin rather than actually swallow it - but I will persevere!

geogteach · 10/05/2005 12:00

DS2 does drink water but from previous experience (I think I own every type of cup available) time is the only real solution my other 2 were both near a year before they mastered cups and water, although my daughter would drink some from an open cup or a sports bottle (like here brother). Good luck Bellie.
We're off on holiday tommorow so have a good couple of weeks everyone.

hotmama · 10/05/2005 12:36

Geogteach - have a good holiday - let us know how you got on when you come back.

DD did have some water at lunch - though I think most was still spat out.

biglips · 10/05/2005 12:50

no problem with giving water to baba as i start giving her 1oz of water every couple of days from 8 weeks old. Shes not a fussy eater as she lluuurrrvveeeee her foods as i can give it to her cold/warm and very warm- she is not fussy at all..
