Here we go then

roll up, roll up for the six month food fest.

Better night here, only two feeds at 1ish and 5ish, but at one point bumble was having a real chat to his blankie. DH was on the sofa and said he couldn't figure out who was talking and thought it was DD until he heard me say "shut up bumble". I have no recollection of it

We've given up with the porridge for a bit as it might have been that upsetting his tummy. He's certainly more cheerful now it's cleared his system.

5inthebed · 12/04/2009 21:22

Here you go, this is the real me, when I'm not wearing my shellsuit

LackaDAISYcal · 12/04/2009 21:46

gah, I wish bumble would settle a bit more. He has taken to groaning in frustration really loudly over absolutely everything if it isn't going his own way the noise goes right through me.

hopefully all the carbs from his sweet potato will help him stay asleep tonight ....I've even thought about giving him formula (and you all know what a lactivist I am ) at bedtime to see if that will help

AFingerofFudge · 12/04/2009 23:31

ooh, am very tired but managed to stay up long enough to join the FB thing. Am very excited at prospect of studying all your faces tomorrow (weirdo I am).
Welcome 5, great Easter name.
Have had lovely day at in laws, with a long walk this afternoon. DS1 &2 only whinged for the first half hour then decided to enjoy it, thank goodness.

M is nowhere near weaning. He is 18 weeks on Tue I think, born 9th Dec, so one of the younger ones. He still only has 5oz tops for his feeds, which is very different to my other two, presume is normal though?

Sorry, am too tired to reply to anyone, hope all this makes sense, will be back tomorrow in more chatty form. Night all x

twinklingfairy · 12/04/2009 23:44

5 there is no way you could kill this thread
Other threads though. I can't even get them started!

Found all the FB stuff! Hurrah!
So good to get faces to names.
I opened a discussion for an update on everyones names and babies cos I need a reminder, I dunno about anyone else?
Hope you don't mind

Oblomov · 13/04/2009 08:17

Morning.
Loved Daisy's PFB thing. And Dozy' s addition to it.
I started in hospital. Every time ds1 was sick or poohed, I changed his sleepsiut, so that he was always spotless. Within weeks, I had progressed to ds2 or ds3 'symptoms'. Before long he was wearing a sleepsuit for 24 hrs and even a couple of times he wore a nappy so long that it had crystals in it. ha ha.
with ds2 I have skipped the pfb altogether and he wears clothes for as long as poss. I realised the other day that he hadn't had a bath for 5 days.
No weaning here. 24+ weeks. Has tasted : mash, breadsticks, ate some spag bol. had chocolate. and some bread.
Most of it other than the spag bol was spat out. Wondering whether his very very bad tongue reflex may be related to the tongue tied . Becasue he had it snipped he has a very very 'waggy' tongue that flaps about and is not attached at all to the front. Maybe better call that doctor that snipped it.
We like Lindt eggs. don't like G&B. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\

Clever Bumble !!! Minirosa just takes her dummy out and posts it through the bars on the cot - we have managed to take 1 side of the cot bumper out but can't do the other 2 ...
DId he sleep better and did you resort to any other tactics? As you know I do ebm often in the evening and I have topped up with ff when needed it doesn't make that much of a difference. As she was screaming ( what a surprise ) when dd was having her lunch I gave her some apple - straight out.
Took dd out for a play this am - it is warm as in needing sun cream and a hat in the sun but still cool in the shade.
Obs did you lean on the // key ??????

Emmanj · 13/04/2009 14:50

Hi all,

Just had a chance to catch up. Had a lovely eveing out down the pub and a nice sleep as mum had DD for the night, was bliss. Although as a result, DD has been a little minx today, miserable, moaning, and not feeding!! oh well, cant have it all i suppose!!

daisy, - i also have 'growler'...oops, OMG that sounds far ruder than i meant!! PMSL!! I meant DD is grunting and growling, (which i keep mistaking for pooing).

The FB stuff is fun, i need some tiem to have a look through properly but v nice to put names to faces! Im Emma J if im popping up on anyones page.

5 - no solids yet, also a young one here - born on 3rd Dec - havent tried anything yet and am utterly clueless about the whole weaning thing TBH!!

chocolategal · 13/04/2009 14:59

Hi everyone
Not quite as warm today but still nice. Been to mothercare and bought a sun hat.
Emmanj, I do that too, I keep thinking a poo is being produced but I think my DS just likes making the noise now he knows how to!
Daisy, how was your night? E has learnt the head shaking thing too but he is doing it most when he is lying down and is rubbing all the hair from the back of his head and is sporting a lovely bald patch!

Rosa I have been thinking about suncream these last few days what kind is good for babies?

LackaDAISYcal · 13/04/2009 15:22

oh arse suncream...need some advice on suitable ones for DD as everything I tried last year brought her out in eczema asnd gave her red rimmed puffy eyes!

IT's lovely and warm here in the sun, but still cool in the shade. I'm sporting my usual red skinned summer look. It's weird, but I always had a lovely skin tone and taneed nicely...until I was pregnant with DS1. not sure if it's a homonal thing or not, but my skin is really red toned now, especially my face, arms and chest.....people keep telling me I'm sunburned, but I'm not.....I just have very red skin. I blardy hate it and when I say "no, I'm not burnt#", people just smile and say "OK if you say so!" but I can tell they are thinking "poor deluded thing, she'll be sore tomorrow"

bumble still sleeping badly. he needs his own room, but I'm in a quandry about whether he shares with DD or DS1, or whether he gets the wee room and DS1 and DD share. Help me out here? Does anyone have LOs with either a big age gap or small age gap who share and how does it work?

OP posts:
Emmanj · 13/04/2009 15:42

at the weather daisy, its not that great here.

Also would like some advice on Suncream, DD is mixed race and has a lovely olive skintone, however i still dont want her to burn. do we need to use a specific one for kids?

Sorry dont have any constructive advice re: sleeping arrangements daisy, maybe if DS1 and DD are already established in their sleeping routines is it better for them to share, seeing as you may still have to get up in the night for bumble and potentially risk waking one of the others up?

LackaDAISYcal · 13/04/2009 16:03

That seems to make most sense emmanj, but DS1 is in the big room and there are toys everywhere. DD would never stay in bed unless all the toys were locked away and there is just no-where to put them all!

We are going to try DD and bumble in the wee room together tonight and see if it works and if so, then we can think about swapping the two of them into the big room and DS1 into the wee room.

Or another alternative is that DH and I move into our dining room (currently the office) and then give the children a room each.....but then we would be downstairs and them all upstairs.....Gahhhhh, our plans were so much more straightforward when they only invovled two children!!

LackaDAISYcal · 13/04/2009 16:05

you can get baby suncreams that are factor 50. I usually buy boots stuff as you get it on 3 for two, so get one for the babies, one for DS and one for us!!

OP posts:
coolkat · 13/04/2009 16:08

There was a thread on here the other day daiy about sun cream for babies with sensitive skin. I forget what was suggested.

Emmanj if your LO is not sensitive I just used the nivea factor 50+ on DD! and never had any problems

Yikes I have pressed something and now can not get full stops or any of the comas and stuff
I will deny all!

Weather ok here dd and dh driving me potty!
Becca up for feed last night. If happens again I am introduce breakfast!

5inthebed · 13/04/2009 17:35

Rosa Sumo does the same with his dummy. Either that or hides it in the depths of his blankets. He also once put it in his sleeping bag

We have been to the coast today. It was lovely and warm here, but 30 minutes away at the coast it was freezing cold! Luckily took coats with us.

Sumo had a rotten night last night, he is really snuffly, so spent most of it in bed with us and was only up once at half 4 for a feed. I gave him some pear about an hour ago, he actually quite liked it, so looks like we are on solids now. Bought some breakfasts from Tescos today so will give that a bash in the morning.

PinkyMinxy · 13/04/2009 19:11

HI all
Had a lovely day at big park, as DS calls it. DH a bit sad tobe going back to work tomorrow.

I seem to remember my brother saying that there's no difference between children's adn adult's suncream (he works in a skin ressearch place), but I do remember several threads last year about sensitive skin and suncream. I just use regular snesitive skin sunblock on my DC, but then they don't have bad skin problems.

OOps bets go Mimi is grumbling (teeth)

Emmanj · 13/04/2009 19:12

Hope u have a better night tonight coolkat and good luck with the breakfast tomorrow 5.

Question - have everyones periods returned to normal? since DD was born ive had 2 normal ones each month then nothing this month and now 5 days late ( 2 neg. pg tests so its not that!). jsut wondered if its normal for it to be a bit 'up in the air'? whats everyone else finding?

AFingerofFudge · 13/04/2009 19:23

Ah funny you should ask about periods emmaj I was going to post to complain about mine! My first period since M was born has arrived today and flippin eck, I can't leave the house for the "gushing" (sorry if tmi!!). I have supersized tampons in and a sanitary towel and it's off to the loo every hour! Normally my periods aren't that heavy, so this is a bit of a shock, though seem to remember from last time the first one or two are heavier??? Any thoughts?

Ahh, am just munching my way through a pack of mini eggs, they're the best.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/04/2009 19:27

DH has taken DD to A&E she drank half a mugful of water that had had vanish oxi action in it. she was a bit drooly and we called nhsdirect who called guys poison unit who said best get her checked out as there is a risk of a gas embolism. it had been sitting for a couple of hours though so all the gas had hopefully been given off and it was well diluted

arse though....i feel really bad...it's not the first time she has swallowed something suspect
