thanks all for your condolences for Q , I'm going to try the apricot tonight. HV was OK - much older lady than usual and kept telling me that "back when my daughter was weaning..." come on that must have been 60 yrs ago!! sorry... just wasnt that helpful. Hehas had soft normal poos today, though with less straining... but still cant sleep long until the urge to strain comes again. poor little man. He had 3 jabs. last until 12 months. he screamed SO loud!!
myjob - congrats on the night in the same room
yes, where is HMM?
aubergenie - I love watching Q learn, too. It's so much fun!

Marthasmama · 08/04/2009 17:34

Hello just a quickie as I'm not feeling very well and have had a hectic day. We took ds's friend with us so I spent the day telling them to stop running near the animals! Now I have a really sore throat and a headache. M LOVED it though. DH carried her round in the baby carrier so she saw all the animals. She loved the baby goats (just like her mother ) and I was tempted to swap her for a gorgeous little piglet.

I have messaged HMM on FB, so she will know we're all missing her. I'll catch up properly in a minute....

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/04/2009 19:12

Haven't read yet. Is nurse ronshar about? Could do with some advice about how much fluid a baby needs to stop it from dehydrating.

Oh that's good pistachio, thanks. I hadn't heard that one before. Will double check when he wakes but I think his tongue is ok.

Poor D, csws! Have you given him some cooled boiled water?

aubergenie · 08/04/2009 20:38

You and D are really having a tough time of it, poor things.

Apparently sunken eyes are also a sign of dehydration, but you probably know that. How often has D fed today?

ronshar · 08/04/2009 21:45

Evening ladies.
CSWS, The fontanelle is the most im portant place to keep an eye on. If it appears very sunken and you can really see it pulsing then that is a sign of dehydration. Yes to the tongue one as well. Also the general appearance of Duncans skin, if you can pinch together skin and it takes a while to settle back down then that is a sign of late dehydration. I know you know this but just keep offering feeds. Duncan will get better soon. Babies are tough little buggers

Star poor baby Q. Are you giving Q more fruit than veg? As solids are just an extra to breast milk then perhaps give alot more fruit to help Q's bowel passage. I give maybe 80/20 fruit veg ratio over the day.

Pepper, how horrible for your friend to loose her DH so young. Have a great time away.

Pistachio yeah for the first October tooth.

Myjob and Aubergenie. Oh man how horrid for you all.

Jenwa was there any ham?

Well William had to have a blood test yesterday. He was so brave/hard as nails. He was more interested in trying to destroy the toy they gave him! The GP I saw on Monday think that perhaps William has Slapped cheek. I disagree as he is no where near poorly enough. Also he doesnt have red cheeks! So I dont think it is Rubella or Measles. It is a mystery.
Little Monkey keeps laughing at me. I woke up this morning to see him with both arms and legs shoved through the bars of his cot and shouting MMMMMMMM. Great why cant he shout DDDD.

Marthasmama · 08/04/2009 22:00

Ronshar - Well done William for being so tough! DS had his booster jabs last year and he screamed, then sobbed for ages afterwards!I'm so ! Martha won't do MMMMM or DDDD yet. I'm starting to think she's a bit thick! Doesn't the baby rice stuff them up too? DH was adding baby rice to thicken up the veggie purees I'd done! I didn't know that until yesterday! No wonder poor M couldn't poo!

Honeymoonmummy · 08/04/2009 22:07

[Peeks head round door to see if anyone remembers her]

Awww, you missed meeeee!

My tinternet was bust for 48 shaky hours, so I went cold turkey. I could've used my crackberry, but didn't get round to it. Sorry if I've worried you! I'm going to read back now. We've been going out for days while DH is off for the Easter hols.

jenwa · 08/04/2009 22:24

HM lol at 'crackberry'!!!! Love it and welcome back I know my blackberry is crap for MN its would take me 48 hrs to bloody post a message!!!!

ronshar NO HAM!!!! da da dada!!! Spag bol well I was impressed Also with reference to not shouting DDDDD its because they know they wont come

myjob yeh, well done Naomi for your good sleep in your new room, hopefully your mummy will sleep better tonight

csws poor you and D hope he is ok.

MM Glad you ahd a nice day out. Surely you would not want a piglet they get huge and smelly! Hope you feeling ok now? I am sure Martha is not thick either, Phoebe doesn't either, she just babbles little screetchy noises!

ronshar · 08/04/2009 22:26

No M is not thick, neither is Naomi. They are just waiting until you are out of the room and then they get up and run around singing Girls Aloud.
Then when you come back in they cry so you pick them up and you feel bad for leaving them

HMM, broken tinternet. AAARRRGGG.

heather1980 · 08/04/2009 22:29

evening all, alex tried to crawl today!! i was so shocked. he has been pushing himself up on his hands and toes for about 2 weeks, then today he pulled his knees under him and tried to move forwards. he didn't quite succeed but i don't think it will be long.
dd was 10 months before she crawled.

ronshar · 08/04/2009 22:59

Myjob 29th is go go go.

Well Willaim is now awake. Probably for the first of many.
Night every one.

Honeymoonmummy · 08/04/2009 23:32

I have finished watching The Apprentice catching up now. I'm sorry to hear about poorly DH's and DS's. MM, only you could have that story about a stiletto! Glad your supply is ok MyJob and congrats on the tooth Pistachio! Star, I'd be wary about using orange as it's supposed to be an allergen, I had the same advice from a HV and a doc and then another HV told me not to use OJ, MN is contradictory on this too, best stick to the apricots!
I saw the HV today about my PND, she came to the house and we chatted through things, she's gonna come once a week.
Oh and we've decided to go away next week, probably near Betwys-y-coed in Wales if anyone knows it, really picturesque and not too far from home, about 1.5 hours max.
I'm off to bed shortly, night all!
