OOOoO!!!!! we need a new thread! Who's starting it?

Yes you're right rachie. I am doing blw, and ds just eats everything with his hands. Messy but fun for him! In fact he's sort of neater than dd, who wouldn't eat anything really until she was 11 months, and just dropped everything intentionally on the floor (we used to leave her food on the floor and she would crawl around and eat a bit when she fancied it - not ideal, but the only way she was prepared to do it!).

Yay for tooth KSal. Still none here.

MM - is your dh morphing into mine? Sounds like exactly the way he behaves!

Even more shattered than normal tonight, due to crap night last night and v v busy day. Have just finally sat down for night (though still have to do some more washing once the current load finishes, and haven't actually had any dinner yet ). Dh still upstairs getting dd to sleep (or sleeping himself, who knows, but he'd better not be, as he still has some chores to do).

Aubergenie- It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one who had minor crashes whilst pregnant. I also remember standing in the car park of our local shopping centre crying as I was so tired I couldn't remember where I'd parked. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

Pistachio am impressed that you're ds had paella, are you doing blw? I wanted to try but got a bit scared about choking so am pureeing things but this week (week 2) am leaving food a little bit lumpier. I am letting ds hold the spoon so choosing how much he eats. Today dh commented again that MIL hadn't let ds hold the spoon yesterday and he "hadn't wasted any food". I pointed out that imho it's important that ds enjoys food, tries to be independant and that it doesn't matter if food gets on his clothes wasted as at this stage milk is his main meal and food is exploring. I am right aren't I?

MM really hope your day improved

Hello ladies. I have been trying to stay off the internet over the weekend to spend more time with DH in the evenings. That was a shit idea becuase I am sick to death with all of them today. DH is a moaning old woman and won;t get anything done. I was allowed a lie-in this morning (whihc obviously is a Godsend) but came down stairs to what looked like a bombsite in the front room. I have managed to keep the house in fairly good order all week on my own and DH is home for two days and it's a nightmare. Then he and DS sulked when I said that they would have t tidy up later. Then M did a huge poo which went up her back to her neck which DH said he'd do but was so useless that M got covered in poo so I had to take over. DS has also been a pain all morning and keeps waking his poor little sister up every time she nods off. DH has some chores to do in relation to M's baby naming and just couldn't make an fing decision about anything so I just got really fed up with him constantly asking me what to do. All this on top of the worst* night for months. M went to bed at 7.45 woke up at 8.20, then refused to go back to sleep so slept on me until my back gave up 10pm then we tried to put her in her bed but she still wouldn't have it. In the end she slept in bed with me again and had woke up every 1.5 hours. M look terrible and has red rimmed eyes. She is so tired but her annoying brother won't let her sleep. ARGHHHHH!!!!! I'm off to catch up on everyone's posts now.

Rachie - I remember driving home from work when I was pregnant and reversing into a lamp post when I was trying to park the car. I was so tired I couldn't even be bothered to get out and check out the damage.

ds has been asleep for 2.5 hrs so far. That's longer than he managed all blummin night (except for his first stint, when I was still up). Ah well, at least he won't be tired and grumpy. Wish I could say the same for dd.

CSWS- enjoy your party too. Sorry to hear there's no chance of a sleep. I'm considering learning how to sleep standing up, put the sunglasses on and no one will know. Care to join me?

You can see why sleep deprivation is a form of torture Aubergenie. I've had many a narrow escape driving too because of tiredness. I've also got home lots of times to find that the car seat isn't in properly .

My personal best (although not driving at the time) was locking the car keys in the boot at sainsburys and having to get a cab home with ds to get the spare.

Oh and when I was pg I drove into the side of a skip .

Enjoy the Christening Rachie.
No daytime sleeps chez CSWS I'm afraid. Aside from the fact that dh doesn't take both dc for me to sleep, we have a 3rd b'day party to go to .

What I'm not sure of is how soon he could be contagious if he's going to get it. Problem time is a few days before spots appear, and then until spots crusted over (generally 5-7 days). If he didn't come down with it for, say 15 days, then he'd only be contagious from around 10 days I guess, so you'd still be ok for bumps and babes this week.
Might be worth starting a thread to check if anyone knows the likelihood of infecting someone so soon.
I think that protection from bf'ing is a bit of a myth in this case, although dd was exposed several times (at toddler groups) before she actually got it.

Morning!

Myjob- hope you feel better soon, I always think that chocolate is a good medicine for colds

Aubergenie- I hope you're ds doesn't get chicken pox. I haven't had first hand experience of babies and cp but I had heard that the younger they catch it the milder it is. So I hope that's true if you're ds does get it.

CSWS- sorry you had such a lousy night sleep. Any chance of an afternoon snooze? Ds slept quite well last night, typical that it was a w/e when there are two of us to get up to him. Dh doesn't get up at all in the week as he has to work. This made me very to start with but have got used to it now.

We're off to a christening today. Have a good day all.

B*gger. I'm supposed to be hosting Bumps and Babies this week, and some of the babies are really tiny. Also, the Bumps will need to be warned as well, in case they haven't had it.

I was hoping S would have some sort of BFing immunity. Thanks for the info though CSWS.

That whole driving thing is scary - I turned right into some oncoming traffic yesterday and couldn't figure out why someone hooted at me . I want to go and see my sis today but can't really unless I get a nap.

The reason it's more common in older children is only really because they mix more so are more likely to spread it. I'm afraid that the day before the spots come out is the most contagious day. That's when dd and dh caught it last year. The incubation period is 2-3 weeks iirc, so remain vigilant for symptoms at that time, and poss avoid very teeny newborns so that if he is contagious he doesn't pass it on before he comes out with the spots.

I did get a 2 hour stretch of sleep thanks to medised, but am knackered today. Know what you mean about the driving aubergenie - dh thinks I'm being a drama queen and exaggerating when I tell him that I'm too tired to drive . He does normally drive when we go out together though.

That sounded a bit PFB I've realised. What I meant was, do babies have any extra immunity from chickenpox? I think it's more common in older children, normally isn't it?

Glad your BB was a success myjob.

We had a lovely day visiting friends yesterday but just found out through Facebook today that their little girl has got chickenpox. Is this something I should be worried about with ds, does anyone know?

CSWS - How was the rest of your night? S woke every 1-2 hours.

I'm getting to the point where I'm a bit worried about driving - I made some really silly mistakes in the car yesterday just from being so tired.

HMM, do you drink alot of tea/coffee. It could be caffene? crap spelling sorry.
My DH doesnt understand either. He just stays out of it.
Perhaps you should just eat loads of dairy tomorrow, go mad, then give DH poppy after every feed. He will eventually get fed up of changing his clothes and your point will have been made
Or it may not be the dairy and you havent lost anything. I know that for me if I eat any thing big like cheese on toast, or ice cream williams next feed will end up in my lap. Or a milk based dinner, same result. So it isnt bollocks.
Dont worry it will sort itself out soon.

I am having a whole day out tomorrow. I have only been able to express 2oz of milk, how crap is that?? Poor William will have to have formula tomorrow. Oh well he will survive one day.
Good night all, as I am up at 6am to get the London train at 7am!
