No Star just a new first time mum.
I remember after my epidural with DD1 the midwife told me very firmly not to get out of bed on my own. Well I obviously got up and was trying to stagger across the room as she walked into my room (I had my own room as I workrd at the hospital at the time and they felt sorry for me after a horrid birth). The midwife went mental. Told me she got fed up looking after nurses as they never do as they are told

MM, wow cool birth story. I have never had a patient with unregistered BP who wasnt dead. You are one strong lady.

HMM where is your birth story? I love a good gory birth storey. Is that wrong of me? Also if you had a bad experience it could be the reason for your PND now. Have you contacted the midwife team to "debrief". They should be willing to talk you through it.

Wow Ronshar!!! No wonder they were worried!! Thanks for that. I am super pleased with myself now! Yay me for not being dead!

wow ladies, you've all been through the mill. i guess i was really lucky 2 1/2 hour labour at home, minimal blood loss and 4 stitches! i was watching eastenders between contractions!

my dd however was awful, i had this really stern mw who insisted on monitoring my contractions, when they were all over the place she put a clip on babies head which meant that i had to stay on my back. and all i kept hearing was push, so i pushed so hard i burst all the capillaries on my face chest and back as well as my eyes, i was purple! i refuse ever to use my local maternity unit ever again.

i've had a lovely day today, we went to a local annual chocolate festival! yum yum, we have a local steam train as well so we took a trip on that. dd loved it.

alex is streaming ahead with the food, but we are starting to get nasty smelly nappies. yuck yuck

What a chocolate festival. In Lent?? How cruel

Marthasmama · 05/04/2009 22:14

I still can't believe that about the BP ronshar. I never knew that!!! I knew it must be pretty bad as the mws and nurses wall told me off for showing off and causing them stress. Anyway, I'll stop being self-obsessed now.....maybe.....

Yes Heather - the stinky nappies are a horrible side effect aren't they? I am very of your lovely birth. If my babies came out the way nature intended I'd probably have three by now. M is getting much better at getting food into her mouth now. Today she had a rice cake, a piece of carrot and a strip of plain toast. She was very impressed with herself. My mum hid the rest of the toast as M was getting a bit frustrated with it but M was having none of it and kept shouting at my mum! She is also very clearly making a noise like hello when someone says hello to her. She's like a budgie!!

yup a chocolate festival, it was heaving! i think there were more people than they were expecting!

MM - i loved my birth, i recovered really quickly, unlike dd which took me weeks to get over, i could hardly sit down i was so bruised. i think that's why i want more kids, unlike my pregnancy. i hate being pregnant, it's awful, i most certainly did not glow.

alex had some baby sweetcorn today, he tucked right in, some of the little corn came off and made him cough as they got stuck in his throat but some came out the other end so he did ok. tomorrow i'm gonna try some green beans.

loulou33

Sorry if you have tried this and mentioned it on another thread, but have you tried baby massage to get poo going? The first time I took Harry, he did SEVEN poos that afternoon and whenever he gets a bit bunged up, I do the tummy massage again and it clears him out no problem.

Oh poor you myjob. Could it be food poisoning as you both have it so close together?

Ds is really not well today. He's now up to 3 doses of calpol, and just grizzles forlornly when awake, so we're trying to help him to have as much sleep as possible. Thank goodness dd is on school playscheme today. Still don't know for sure what's actually wrong with ds, but he's snotty and hot.

Gosh it's quiet on here today. 4th dose calpol now administered, and docs appt booked for 4:50, just so that they can check him over and rule out other things. Based on the symptoms listed here I think it's almost certainly slapped cheek, though still no rash yet.

Poor D. Good luck at the drs. We've got through nearly six years without slapped cheek so I have no idea what it's like. But I've just read the link. Your poor dc CSWS. And poor you looking after sickly babies.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/04/2009 17:41

Well doc confirmed that ds doesn't have an ear infection (main reason for taking him to be sure), so agreed that it is likely to be slapped cheek. I, on the other hand, have a very nasty ear infection, so now have some strong drops to try and clear it up.

Ds just managed a couple of mouthfuls of carrot and cabbage, which is his first food in over 24 hours. He hasn't had terribly much milk today either.

csws hope Duncan gets well soon poor thing. Lydia had bright red cheeks yesterday and I wondered if she had slapped cheek but she also just got some teeth at the back so thinking it may have been that as well otherwise.

DH late tonight so have put dd2 to bed and now am going to tackle dd1 then have a bath and relax hopefully!

Where is everybody? Hope you're all ok and not too ill/busy looking after sickly babies.

Hmm - How's P today? Are you going back to the drs?

It is eerily quiet isn't it MM?
I think that hmm is prob off investigating high chairs. And you missed 'more money than' out of your fb comment to her .

Shall prob be off soon to administer more calpol, but hoping to watch ANTM in peace either before or after.
