MM, I'm gutted, I had similar plans for the last thread, you will not thwart me next time Muh ha ha ha ha [evil bunny]

Ronshar I'm sorry to hear about german measles, I'm with you on your FB status, my SIL (not yet married) has a son from a prev relationship, there was a measles outbreak in Cheshire when Poppy was newborn so I asked her if her DS had had triple jab - no. I said, "the HV has told me not to let her have any contact with schoolchildren who haven't had it" in a perfectly reasonabe and non-judgemental voice. She hasn't spoken to me since!!!!! WTF?!?!? Wouldn't you think fair enough, she's a newborn baby and leave it at that???

I hope this isn't a North-South divide I see developing on this thread? I'm not the hugging type either, altho can't keep my hands off Pops of course

Was the mumsnet and netmums merger news an april fools or what??

I can't remember what else I've read, sorry!

I've not taken todays AD, Poppy has continued to be quite sick today and I was sick as a dog last night and am sooo lethargic and fortgetful today, so I need an alternative. I'm thinking maybe acupuncture or homeopathy... - any thoughts anyone?

Honeymoonmummy · 04/04/2009 15:32

X-posts Loulou/ Myjob.

Loulou, have you considered getting another different Bf necklace? Some of them have bells. Oh and mmmmmm cheeeeese. What I wouldn't do for a pizza right now

MyJob, goddammit, you're just making me look bad by remembering everybody

Marthasmama · 04/04/2009 17:38

Hello ladies.

Loulou - Have you tried dried apricot for Joe? All you need to do is rehydrate them in some simmering water for about 15 mins, then puree them up into a sort of jam and give him that. M hadn't really pooed for three days, i gave her some apricots and they cleared her right out. They were almost too effective! They worked on ds too when he was little.

Sorry I stole your idea hmm. I just thought that the old thread needed killing fast and that was my first one. I'll leave this ine for you. Hope the bunnies are still around. - still love 'em!

I'll catch up now as I've actually been out today.

Marthasmama · 04/04/2009 18:23

Hmm - I still think that diet might be a way to go. My nutritionist reckons that you can resolve loads of illnesses with vitamins and diet. I can see her point. Depression and other mental illness is linked to deficency in certain chemicals in the brain therefore it makes sense to me to try to do something to stimulate the natural production of those chemicals rather than just adding more chemicals into the mix. She told me that diet can be used to treat schizophrenia and is the most effect way of treating ME. Here are some options for you. I put depression in as the specialism.

pepperrabbit · 04/04/2009 18:54

hmm - I have no personal experience of ADs but a close friend who took them went through a really miserable week/10 days feeling poorly on them and then suddenly felt much better - I know it's grim but perhaps it's worth continuing with them for a little while longer even if it's while you look at the alternatives?? Have you searched the threads for others on the same type?
Apologies if that's all bleedin obvious!
we're running soooo late today the DS's haven't had tea yet and it's practically bedtime...

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/04/2009 20:10

loulou - have you tried feeding in a completely darkened room?

hmm - I wonder if it might just take a few days to adjust to the happy pills. Why don't you carry on with them for a week before you assess what difference they have made to everything.

pepperrabbit · 04/04/2009 20:15

myjob - do you take notes and write them down? please say yes, cos your memory puts mine to shame otherwise!
That was my first bunny of the day, I have such willpower!!

Honeymoonmummy · 04/04/2009 20:31

I would carry on if it was just me being affected, but not when Poppy is too. I mentioned exclusion of wheat and sugar to doc and she said you'll never find a doc who recommends exclusion diets except eg coeliacs. So I didn't push it, might ask to see a dietician, what are the odds of my getting an NHS referral do u reckon??? I'll look at that link now MM, thanks.

pepperrabbit · 04/04/2009 20:32

Today, I was overwhelmed by maternal, nurturing urges and as a very special treat we took the kids first to Homebase, then to Halfords and then, as a bribe for good behaviour - to the PET SHOP so they could look at rabbits. I know, you're all very jealous bunnies .
Other parents go to the zoo, but no, we're soooo cheap!
They were so excited I feel quite guilty.

pepperrabbit · 04/04/2009 20:37

sorry hmm - x posts.
I hadn't picked up that Poppy was suffering so much too, I'm sure you can push for an NHS referral - how much is it for a private consultation?
There must be a way to balance your happiness & health and Poppy's.

Honeymoonmummy · 04/04/2009 20:42

Well it's cheaper than the zoo!! It may not be the drugs making her sick but nothing else has changed, I've not eaten anything controversial. I think I'll start a new thread.

Marthasmama · 04/04/2009 21:17

Pepper - The petshop is good fun! We used to take DS to look at the fish and the bunnies at the one near us. He hates 'Q & B' when we have to go!

Hmm - Poor Poppy and her mummy . Has Poppy been tested for dairy intolerance? Nutrition is a complimentary therapy type effort which is probably why most GPs poopoo it.

Myjob - We went to visit our friends who we have not seen for ages. They moved near us about a year ago but, I been a bit busy lately (wonder why????) so this is the first time we've been to see their place. My friend's fella is waiting for a kidney transplant op after having complete renal failure late last year. Poor bloke's only 31. DS took Simon the giraffe as my friend and his bloke are both called Simon! DS thought it would be funny.

CSWS - I thought - feeding in the dark, won't that be a bit messy and how will that help Joe poo? Then re-read the rest of Loulou's post - duh!!!

DS and DH were at each other's throats this afternoon. God DH is such a child sometimes the way he argues with DS! I always end up playing the role of the UN and having to keep the peace. M and I hid upstairs and DS followed while DH sulked downstairs. He's tired - HE's tired? He's been away all week in a hotel room with no crying baby!!! I keep getting dizzy spells, I think it's when I a) drink alcohol or b) get a little dehydrated. I had a glass of Pimms today and feel all wobbly. I'm not hungry so that's not it maybe my body objects to Pimms. Whaaaaaaa if so!!

Marthasmama · 04/04/2009 21:19

Oh sorry Myjob - Love the new pictures, especially the black and white ones. Very cute. Are they the ones you had done?

Honeymoonmummy · 04/04/2009 21:54

Lovely pics MyJob

Could dizzy spells be anaemia MM?

Marthasmama · 04/04/2009 22:01

Ahhhhh!!! Yes, definately could be hmm. I had to have two blood transfusions when I had M had my HB levels were 4.3 which is amazingly low. I haven't been checked again since. Bugger I don't want to take iron tablets as they make me ill.

Honeymoonmummy · 04/04/2009 22:05

Oh I hate iron tablets. I had a blood transfusion too, and had to take iron tablets but stopped cos they made me soooooo constipated. I took Pregnacare Breastfeeding instead which contains iron and ate lots of spinach and my iron levels have been back to normal for a few months now.

Marthasmama · 04/04/2009 22:10

I am one of those rare creatures that has the opposite problem with iron tablets. It was ok at first as I was backed up from the c-section but once I got back to normal is was awful. I couldn't even feed M as I would need to go to the loo halfway through a feed. They also gave me terrible stomach cramps. I've been advised to try Spatone as they are more gentle on the old tum. I'll give them a whirl I think. Tahnks hmm!!!

I meant thanks. See I'm so dizzy my letters have become jumbled up! I'm watching Hostel. Yawn. I'm so bored of these American slasher films.

I'm watching The Interpretor.

Marthasmama · 04/04/2009 22:23

My MW was the same apparently so she had loads of sympathy. DS is a rare creature in that antihistamine makes him hyperactive rather than drowsy. We found that out one evening when he was suffering from prickly heat. He was bouncing off the walls!!!
