In answer to your question no and no. We've had on average 3 hourly awakenings since, well, for ever really (apart from the very early days when he wouldn't sleep at all at night unless draped over one of us). He went from bedtime at around 7.30 till 2 in the morning about twice and I thought a miracle had occurred.

I'm with MM. It's not fair that your dh won't let you have some sleep. You should both be in it together and that means sharing the joy and the pain. I get annoyed with dp but he's very hands on with ds, and always makes my breakfast at the weekend. I should be a bit more grateful, shouldn't I?

jenwa · 18/04/2009 21:05

My Dh would let me have a lie in and would have both for me if needed so cant complain, I would just have to ask him though and nothing else would get done but suppose I cant complain.

ronshar lol re crumbs on his side
Someone once told me to put a cholocate button between Dh's bum crack so when he woke up it would have melted and he would have thought he had had an accident ....[evil] but still funny!!!

jenwa · 18/04/2009 21:06

Phoebe still not sitting yet although managed afew seconds today. trying to teach her to blow kisses now but its not working!

Dont know how any of you cope with no sleep! Y

Cant believe how quickly it has all gone Naomi is a month older than Phoebe, Phoebe will be 6 months on next sunday.

Ok I will stop teaching her the kisses then and hope she does it soon she was doing superman today lifting her arms over her head and kept doing it when I said "superman"

jenwa · 18/04/2009 21:19

oh and your Dh sounds lovely myjob

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/04/2009 21:31

Goodnight my dear. I really hope you get some sleep tonight.

heather1980 · 18/04/2009 21:46

i can't complain either. dh lets me lie in on the weekends. well he gets up with dd and sometimes takes ds as well, depends if he's hungry or not.
but he's never had both of them together for long, i only get to pop to the shop for an hour or so and ds gets cranky, he wont take a bottle so i can't leave him any milk.

ronshar · 18/04/2009 21:51

Yep that adds to the fun for me next week. William has constantly rejected a bottle. So DH is going to have FUN FUN FUN.
All of you with perfect husbands I you greatly.

aubergenie · 18/04/2009 22:28

Dp and I were just sitting on the sofa putting the world to rights when this really funny noise came through the baby monitor it stopped and then came again. We went and checked on s and realised that he's snoring really loudly.

Off to bed now. Hope everyone gets a good sleep.

Marthasmama · 18/04/2009 22:31

Martha doesn't know what to do with a bottle. She just puts it in the side of her mouth and chews it.

DH is wonderful, no doubt about it. He is a hands on dad, does loads with ds. He has changed more of M's nappies than I have, he cooks dinner, he takes me shopping even though he hates it, he lets me lie-in.....He's not perfect though. He has the smelliest feet in the world, he's as tight as a ducks arse, he's a bit of a bimbo (as discussed) and he likes a drink. But on the whole he's a good egg. He works very hard to support his family so he's old fashioned in that sense, but he wouldn't be married to a feminist philosopher if he was a 50's dad!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/04/2009 04:40

careful mm - you're making yourself sound lazy there!

Right, think ds finally settled after over an hour again, so time to try and get back to sleep myself.

Thank you Pistachio! I feel much better now. Your DH sounds delightful.

CSWS - we do of course share most of those jobs around the house. I do the washing, the ironing (mainly his shirts) and most of the child care. I am also the peacemaker. In my house that is a bloody hard job!

M was a clingy little pickle again last night. She went to sleep cuddled right up by me with her head on my arm. I managed to get her sleeping on the bed on her back but DH had to sleep on the floor and I had to sleep on a knife's edge. DH was happy enough as he likes sleeping on the floor

jenwa · 19/04/2009 10:46

maybe we can all take the best bits of our DH and make a real man that we are pleased with they will never be perfect will they as they will never be a woman

mm poor DH sleeping on the floor, bet he slept though!

My dds slept in today, well dd2 woke at 6:30 so I went to her and she was stuck on her tummy so I turned her then DH got up with them at 8 bliss

aubergenie · 19/04/2009 11:03

to your dh sleeping on the floor MM. When we went away the other week, we had a really lovely room with a 4 poster bed which I thought was really luxurious. But Dp ended up sleeping on the floor because he said it was more comfortable.

We had a terrible night too. Ds kept waking, I'd get him back to sleep and then the minute I transferred him to the Amby he'd start wailing and I had to start all over again. Dp was sent to the sofa and ds came in with me.

We've also had leaky night time nappies several times this week, which we never normally have. Just goes to show how much ds is feeding.

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/04/2009 11:38

Am happy to loan out my dh to help you all to appreciate yours!

Who is it who keeps recommending apricots for bunged up babes? Ds had 4 whole ones last night (cause he was enjoying them, not cause he was constipated), and he had 1 poo after his tea, and 3 poos so far this morning, with this morning's ones all being much softer and squishier than usual. They smell all lovely and sweet too .

Marthasmama · 19/04/2009 11:50

That's me CSWS. DS was so bunged up when he was a baby that I tried everything. Apricots were the only thing that worked. I have a friend who's DH expects her to do EVERYTHING around the house and look after their 5 month old dss. If she's been up all night he still expects her to get up make him breakfast and do his sandwiches. She is beautiful, the type that could bag herself a lovely millionaire. He should count himself lucky to have her. I have offered to swap for a while then she would get a break as my DH is lovely and her DH would learn to appriciate how much his dw does!

I am now thinking that not only do N and M conspire but seems like S and M do too! Sounds like a very similar night to us.

We've just booked a holiday cottage in Dorset for us and some friends. Yay!

Marthasmama · 19/04/2009 12:55

I thought you might like to see the invites for M's baby naming ceremony. The picture for the front was drawn by a very talented artist

We're off out for lunch with the in-laws. Yay . Wish me luck ladies.

Honeymoonmummy · 19/04/2009 18:34

Blimey, I thought after a week away you'd be on a new thread by now?! I haven't caught up yet but hi y'all! I now have a sitting, rolling (both ways) and highchair-owning baby MyJob anyone want to do a quick recap of what I've missed to save me reading?

Marthasmama · 19/04/2009 18:51

WHAT?!!! But Poppy is almost a month younger than M! . Hope you had a good holiday. It has been strange without you

I survived lunch with the in-laws, M was a bit of a star pickle. She has just started to hate strangers touching her or looking at her. Although the in-laws live about 15 mins away, they have seen her about 5/6 times since she was born. They have a stupid yappy dog so I won't take her round there and they are too lazy disorganised to come to us. M screamed the place down when the MIL picked her up and almost fell out of her arms reaching for me. FIL annoyed me by saying that M looks like the SIL (she doesn't, she is a carbon copy of her mummy) and saying she was thick-set & boyish. My poor girl! She's actually too narrow for most of her clothes so I don't know what he's talking about. Grrrrrrr!

aubergenie · 19/04/2009 19:48

Welcome back HMM! Did you have a good time?

M is definitely not think-set and boyish, MM. She looks lovely! And I love the invite picture. Does that talented young man make all your xmas cards as well?

To those of you doing BLW - should I worry about the salt levels in bread? I tend to cook most things from scratch anyway so cutting out salt that way isn't a problem, but I make all our bread (in the breadmaker, not by hand, I'm not that virtuous) and that has 1 tsp salt (weighing about 8g) per 475g of flour. That's quite salty isn't it? Do you think I should try and cut it down, bearing in mind he's hardly eating any, or am I being ridiculous?

Marthasmama · 19/04/2009 20:44

I really don't know about bread Aubergenie - I avoided bread for ds and will do the same for M as I have an issue with wheat. Ha ha ha, I originally typed weight there instead of wheat, oh dear! I really am obsessed!
