Yay yay yay Myjob. That's fab. Do you think you can relax a bit now and not worry so much about N's weight? MM that babygro is gorgeous. Might have to get one for DD too. That reminds me, must get DD some slipper things. She has bigger feed at 51/2 months than DS did at 9 months so she's already grown out of his little bootie things.

ronshar · 17/04/2009 20:44

Another thing that can cause problems within a marriage after having a baby, is that men can be jealous of the new arrival. Especially the first.
Star I am not giving your DH a get out of jail free card but it is quite hard for a man's precious ego to all of a sudden have to share his girl. They get all of our attention, we pander to their moods, we get drunk and have fun, we are in the mood for sex whenever they are.
This all stops overnight and they are pushed to the side and ignored for months.
I speak as the veteran of three children and the resulting three stroppy, moaning, grumpy, ungrateful and generally unpleasant post baby months with DH. It does get better when you both learn to make time for each other.
Are you able to take time out just the two of you without Q? This is so important for DH to think he is still as important to you as Q.
Its why male lions kill any offspring which are not theirs when they take over as top man.

jenwa · 17/04/2009 20:49

mm lol at you and your statements re men...so true sibling rivalry... soooo true

Am ebaying all my 3-6 months stuff at mo....boring and sad at the same time

ronshar · 17/04/2009 20:58

Brilliant news MYJOB. Mummys milk is fantastic

MM I was given a babygrow like that one for DD2. I never used it as I thought the wings were a PITA. It was 3-6months. Not much use when she spent all her time on her back!! I dont know where it is now.

I took William to clinic. He is 16lb 9oz. Rubbish. He was 15lb at the beginning of Feb. The HV wasnt worried. She is fab. All she said was that at 6 months-ish babies weight gains do slow down because they are so much more active.
William does an excellent impression of a sky diver when he is on his front. He rocks himself on his tummy with both arms and legs up in the air. He loves it make him laugh. He has mastered the reverse crawl, then gets really annoyed when his toys get further away from him. Very fuuny boy.

MM, are you going to try anything to help M to settle better at nightime? Not saying you should but just wondering what, if any, technique you were coinsidering. (Then I was going to try it myself)

Marthasmama · 17/04/2009 21:13

Yay Naomi!!!!! Good Girl!!! Oh and well done to you too Myjob !

Pistachio - Thank you! I had seen that website before but they had sold out. They must have had some more in. Yay!!!

ronshar - I am planning to do nothing at the moment as DH is going away for another three weeks as of Monday and I don't fancy starting anything traumatic on my own. The HV did say to try putting my hand on her head when we pop her in her cot as it helps them to feel settled. It worked tonight but it might have been coincidence as she was dog tired! M does that sky diver thing but it is usually accompanied by wails rather than giggles. M loves being tickled, she cracks up!

ronshar · 17/04/2009 22:00

Three weeks.
I can only dream of all those snore free sleeps. Dh went away for a few days on Wednesday. He will be back on Sunday. Am I a bad wife if I say that I am not missing him or his damn snoring???

Marthasmama · 17/04/2009 22:06

No you're not a bad wife. DH had been away for five weeks prior to the Easter break and when he came home he just got in the bloody way! Everything has taken twice as long because he's here making the place look untidy. Plus he gets in an almighty mood about being woken up by dd. Never mind the fact that when she disturbs him it's for about ten minutes then I feed her cuddle her back to sleep or sit up with her while she sleeps on me if she's being really naughty, and he goes back to sleep. Ooooo the hardship! Oh and if dh snores he gets booted out of bed to sleep on the sofa.

ronshar · 17/04/2009 22:14

Crikey. What does DH do?
Is he an oil rig worker? Or in the army?
No, I know, he is a spy!
That must be hard for you to get on with stuff. And you dont drive!!
I am a teeny bit . I have pleaded with DH to go to the doctor about his snoring. I told him straight, at the beginning, that I couldnt live with a snorer. My dad sounds like a steam train. He is obese (not that he thinks so) so that is why he snores. But DH is trim, he never used to snore but every night I have to thump him, roll him over, put the pillow over his face.
Well not the last one but at 3am with a pirahna chewing at my breast and him snoring away I have been very tempted.

jenwa · 17/04/2009 22:19

My DH snores too when he is on his back or been on the beer! I shout at him, I used to just wake hime gently now I just shout his name and usually its enough to get him to roll over. Sometimes he wakes and answers me but I pretend I am asleep as at least he then rolls back over to sleep and looks a fool thinking someone has woken him

jenwa · 17/04/2009 22:21

I do understand what you mean about them being in the way too. Funny isn't it that we have our ways then they come in and change things or faff then moan when its not going well
I do think if me and DH lived in seperate houses we could alternate it each weekend who has the children and then stay at each others in the week sometimes so we all get what we want haha!!

Marthasmama · 17/04/2009 22:21

Ha ha ha ha!!!!! DH loves Spooks and we laugh about how totally shite he would be as a spy. He's a bit of a bimbo so he'd forget he was undercover! He is a specialist financial advisor and has just started with a new company so he has to do loads of training. He has been a financial advisor for 11 years but he is specialising in one area now so the training is more focused.

I find DH snores when he has a drink or eats a fatty meal. Can adenoid problems make you snore? It seems that those of us with cheeky wakeful babies has dwindled.

jenwa · 17/04/2009 22:26

its quiet here tonight!

Marthasmama · 17/04/2009 22:27

Hey!!! I've been chatting . I was thinking the same though.

jenwa · 17/04/2009 22:28

Sorry I know just not many about! Maybe they getting there sleep before babies up in night!

heather1980 · 17/04/2009 22:29

i have 2 snorers in the bed with me i usually just poke dh and he rolls over and it stops.

we had a payday takeout chinese for tea tonight, and had a picnic on the living room carpet. A was on the floor moving about like he does and went for the box with the spring rolls in so we moved it out of his way and he crawled forwards to get it so we moved it again and he crawled again! it was very funny, he wasn't very pleased that he couldn't get the box so i gave him a bit of meat from dh beef chowmein 6 months and eating a take out. can you tell he's not my pfb?

but since starting food alex is getting bunged up, he's not had a poo since monday, whereas dd has have 5 today, i may have to crack out the lactulose tomorrow. it's not like him, he usually poos at least once a day, if not twice.

i have a news for you ladies. dh is going to be in the new natwest advert they have been filming it this week and it will be on the tv next month! it's been quite funny, he's come home every day this week with makeup on! bless him.

ronshar · 17/04/2009 22:32

Jenwa, I must try that one. Shout and pretend to be asleep

MM .Are you sure? He could be pulling a double bluff. I watch spooks too

There is nothing at all on TV tonight. Rubbish.

heather1980 · 17/04/2009 22:32

MM don't worry, i've been up to alex 6 times since 7pm.

jenwa · 17/04/2009 22:32

Heather wow to your Dh on the telly and with the make up!!! I take it its just foundation etc and not full on eye make up too that would be scary!!

Poor A with not pooing. Hopefully it will happen, I imagine it will be a strain although you never know the chowmein may assist it

Marthasmama · 17/04/2009 22:33

Ooooo...married to a tv star eh heather? DH worked for Natwest when we re-met. We had Thai for dinner tonight and M was sitting next to DH on her bumbo. Every time he lifted his fork to his mouth she flapped her arms and opened her mouth wide! She looked like a baby bird.

ronshar · 17/04/2009 22:34

Heather, William helped himself to my fish & chips. I had to suck the salt of the chips. Def no PFB in this house

A film star among us. When will the advert be on and what does DH look like??

jenwa · 17/04/2009 22:34

ronshar haha re double bluff, yes that could be true and she laughs at him being dippy, it could all be an act!! Maybe he is a MN spy ...tiptoes away incase he is spying on us talking about our DH's snoring.....

heather1980 · 17/04/2009 22:35

he's had foundation. concealer and lipstick on! i think the lipstick was to add a bit of colour so he doesn't look too pale on screen.

Marthasmama · 17/04/2009 22:36

Oh and try pureed dried apricots. I keep saying it, but it does work. M's system seems to be getting used to the food now as she is pooing ok again.

I thought I rememberd you saying that A is a wakeful pickle too Heather.

jenwa · 17/04/2009 22:37

well I am off now as going to get ready for bed. Dh is out so in for a night of snoring and a possible hangover in the morn so I will be up with kids!

Marthasmama · 17/04/2009 22:38

No, really the idea of him being a spy is too funny! If he has been acting dippy then he's been doing it since he was 12 becuase that's how long I've known him! He has registered on MN by the way....his name is MMsDishyDH! Heh heh!
