Have a good hoiday HMM. Hope fully Poppy's sickness will imprive soon but it does get worse at this stage. Joe's sickness got a lot worse at about 23 weeks - took him to docs at 24 weeks as i was sure it should have been better by then. Saw paed at 30 weeks by which time his sickness has pretty much stopped. I took him off all his meds a week before seeing paed and it has not made him more sick so i think his stomach muscles are finally strong enough. (if you factor in his 3 weeks prem, his sickness stopped at 26/27 weeks which is spot on) How long til Poppy's 26 weeks?? Its amazing, when Joe burps immediately shove a cloth under his nose expecting a big sick but all he does now is grab the cloth and shove it in his mouth...

Joe accidentally sucked some chocolate at lunchtime that i had stupidly left within his reach - his arms and legs went wild and he cried loads when i took it away, although some banana soon took his mind off it.

Hope you are all enjoying the easter sunshine [bsimle]

loulou33 · 12/04/2009 13:30

Sorry i meant holiday hmm - but if you are having a hoiday, enjoy that too

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/04/2009 13:53

Teething can make them miserable hmm, but it doesn't normally make them sick. You can try anbesol (can't remember if there's an age limit for this) or bonjela on their gums, and nurofen works better for some babies than calpol, but there's not a lot else you can do (assuming they've got cold toys or bickiepegs to chew etc). Don't use the teething powders due to lactose base.

lol at accidental choc loulou, but choc banana sounds yum .

Ooooh...I've been using Ashtons and Parsons. Daily. For weeks [HMM goes off to check box and kick herself]

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 16:33

It's in a lactose base. Grrrrrr!!!

ronshar · 12/04/2009 17:44

You do realise the one sure fire way to slow down the vomit is to give Poppy something to eat

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 17:50

Eeeeevil!! But not chocolate tho, eh??

ronshar · 12/04/2009 17:56

Star, if you are allergic to something it doesnt automatically mean Q will be. Have you been giving Q cool baths, not cold just cooler than normal? This will help bring down a temp much more efficiently than medication alone. Myjob is right to say that there are hundreds of different reasons why babies get rashes. The main one is a viral infection of some kind. It would make sense if Q now has an ear infection.

Welcome back Firsttimer08. Was it your little baby with the kindey problems? If so are they all better?

I am at the holidays. I am being abandoned by DH this week when he goes off fishing with his uncle. Can't complain really as Dh used to fish every week but hasnt been for nearly a year.
William is going into his own room tomorrow night. I am looking forward to maybe getting some sleep but will miss his little snores and snuffles.
W is nearly crawling, he goes backwards and goes up on all fours and rocks. He gets so frustrated when he wants to get something but is stuck.

ronshar · 12/04/2009 17:59

Not for sharing Chocolate. I most def do not agree with giving chocolate to little ones. Also not a fan of the Petit Filo/yogurts. Full of sugar.
I seem to have forgoten the dairy thing today. W just had Cauliflower cheese. Puke central

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 17:59

MyJob did you say you were going to Butlins? Whereabouts? I hope you have a lovely time.

Just had a HUGE row with DH over various silly things, too boring to repeat, happy holidays eh???

Poppy will be 23.5 weeks when we get back from our hols so there won't be long to wait from then. I guess a bit of baby rice from 24 weeks wouldn't go amiss??? What do you all think??

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 18:00

She was a week late too

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 18:01

But she's not quite sitting up yet.

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 18:03

Ha ha at Puke Central Ronshar! It makes me feel a bit better about missing the lactose in the teething powders!

Oh and Loulou, what is a hoiday anyway???

I've asked the caravan vendor if there's wifi at the site so you might not be rid of me that easily...

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 18:04

My god, it's like the Honeymoonmummy one woman show around here!!! Ronshar post something else quick!

ronshar · 12/04/2009 18:06

Try baby rice first. Horrible bland. Look for something that has flavour in it. As I'm sure I have said before I give William the HIPP cereals. Diary, GM free, vegetarian. Also some of them can be made with water not milk.

Seriously, HMM, dont give Poppy anything if you are not sure about it. Trust your own instincts.
How did you get on with your blood test? Are you thyroid levels better?

ronshar · 12/04/2009 18:07

Do you often talk to yourself??

firsttimer08 · 12/04/2009 18:13

HMM hope poppy is feeling better now. I is also going through a bout of sickness. he's been doing these projectile vomits, so I'm not even sure whether I should be giving him food. Seems there is conflicting advice on giving/not giving food on this thread !!

Star6, i'm totally impressed that you wake up at 4.30am to express milk !

re teething, the powders have worked well for us. I has 2 teeth already and he seems to be biting furiously again, so maybe some more coming along.

happy easter!

ronshar · 12/04/2009 18:13

What, now I am talking to myself

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 18:19

Ha ha! I went off to do what I was supposed to be doing pack some clothes. The only summer clothes I can fit into are my maternity clothes

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 18:21

Thanks firsttimer, she's not been sick much this afternoon. I've been dairy free for 4 weeks now (since the start of Lent!) to see if it helped Poppy's reflux, that's why I'm so angry about the powder, I could've been having lovely cheese and chocolate for 4 weeks! I'll just stick to the bonjela.

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 18:22

Lent is six weeks isn't it As I was saying, dairy free for 6 weeks now...

ronshar · 12/04/2009 18:24

Firsttimer, there is conflicting advice everywhere with regards feeding. the only time a doctor will recommend early solids is for babies with reflux. Poor Poppy has quite bad reflux so HMM has done really well to not give solids yet.
Has your DS got a tummy bug? Lots of it going about.

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/04/2009 19:33

Firsttimer - I used to lecture everyone about how important it is not to give solids before 26 weeks, but then ds took some food and started feeding himself at 5 months, so since then most people have felt more relaxed about admitting they are doing it .
We are doing blw though, and the theory of that is that the motor skills develop in line with the gut, so when he is capable of self-feeding his gut is ready. Most of the ladies on here have seen some video of ds self-feeding, and all were impressed with his co-ordination at the time.

He has got his appetite back today - hurrah! Though he still needed calpol this afternoon for whatever is left of his illness.
Sadly dh is pretty ill now with probably whatever ds had, and my throat is now closing up too, and head starting to hurt, so I expect that we are sharing the bugs around. I don't have a fever (yet) though.

Hmm - if you do want a cereal to give then I've occasionally given ds an organix raspberry and apple one, which I make up with rice milk (20 secs in micro to warm it up before mixing). Ds prefers to feed himself though, so now that he's hit 6 months raisin wheats are our cereal of choice (I try to buoycott Nestle so choose these over plain mini shredded wheats).

Ronshar - d'oh at cauliflower cheese .

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2009 19:50

Aww shucks Ronshar, thanks [HMM goes all coy]

Glad to hear about DS feeling better CSWS, but you seem to be constantly stricken with illness in your family don't you? Maybe I've been lucky to have caught nothing since Poppy was born, mind you I'm not often ill normally and other than the reflux Poppy has only had 2 minor sniffles (touch wood).

Right, pretty much everything is ready, I just need to get it into bags now...and then into the car. Antone got a spare trailer?
