hello all

I am also in the shopping mood although slighty confussed today as went to Oasis and tried on a lovely top that was prices £20 but had a sale tag on it 'sale exclusive' so asked how much it was in the sale and she said £20 and that sale exclusive meant it never goes in the shop and is made purely for sale items!!! I was not impressed, how can you have something made purely for sale as then it is not a sale right???
Anyway also tried on a dress for £20 which was nice but a little low but now regretting not buying it so may go back in tomorrow and see if it is still there but then have to back here to feed Phoebe and get to ball bit to meet friends! Also out tomorrow night too on a girly one

Marthasmama · 09/04/2009 21:13

Myjob - If she was sitting, don't worry. It does tend to depress when they're upright. Oh and for the kisses. So cute!

Jenwa - I thought that things have to have been on sale at the full price for a certain time in at least one of the stores prior to being put into the sale. So many shops have that disclaimer displayed somewhere during the sales. I'm going to do some research [need to get a life emoticon]

Martha refused to sleep all day and was so angry tonight that she lost her voice from all the shouting.

jenwa · 09/04/2009 21:24

Oh Dear, meant 'get back here' and 'Ball pitt'!!!

Yeh I did not know things could just be put in the sale, how odd, the girl looked at me like I was stupid and odd for not realising it

jenwa · 09/04/2009 21:25

mm sounds like you may be in for a quiet night then

Marthasmama · 09/04/2009 22:07

I wish!! I doubt it very much! She still likes to 'wake up' in the night and demand attention and playing. Cheeky madam!

Honeymoonmummy · 09/04/2009 22:12

Hey all! Yes Poppy has put on 6oz this week and is now [drum roll] 1 stone 2 oz!

I read the thread 2 hours ago and have just come back to post so can't be bothered to read and reply to all again, sorry! I'm frantically looking for a travel cot to use next week when we go away, I'm trying to borrow one so i can order a good one online for next time. I've said I'll sleep in the double with her while DH sleeps in a single alone but he doesn't like the thought of co-sleeping now.

MM, love DS's pizza recipe, sooo cute!

Like those slings CSWS.

Sorry about your earache Myjob.

Honeymoonmummy · 09/04/2009 22:13

Dammit I forgot the bunnies

loulou33 · 09/04/2009 22:15

Hiya - thanks for your advice about Joe's poo - i have tried apricots, prunes, more water, juice etc and he's a bit better. I think his body is just having to adjust to more solids. Paed told me today to keep upping Lactulose by 2.5ml per day until i hit the right dose so we'll see...i'll soon be pouring into his throat by the bucket load!!
Star - it sounds like Q may need more Lactulose if he's straining so much??

Joe is feeding better although he is soo distracted no matter how dark/quiet the room is - i just have to keep holding him firmly to the breast until he gets back to it..

HMM - how are the ADs going?? The side-effects will wear off after a few weeks and then the benefits start to kick in after about 4-6 weeks. If you don't take them every day, it will take much longer to see any benefit right, no more lectures

Jenwa - how are the night terrors going???

Sorry to hear that you've been ill myjob and hope you are better now

CSWS - trying to keep babies hydrated who are ill is really hard work and i empathise with you totally. Joe is not keen on water and DS1 was terrible for totally refusing fluids when ill - hope he's a bit better now.

MM - we have a bush baby back carrier which DS1 used up till he was 3. Its dead easy to put on as it stands up on its own so you can strap baby into seat and then you put it on like a rucksack. the seat is adjustable so baby can be high up and see loads over your head (you just have to watch out for low branches!!). It must be easy to put on as DH is crap with baby carriers and can't work them at all but this one he can do by himself . I like carrying Joe on my front facing outwards but he is getting too heavy and its wrecking my back - will try him in the bush baby soon...he's also nearly heavy enough for forward facing car seat which i think he will prefer as rear facing makes him scream - poor love

Right off to bed and i will try to keep up this weekend but i'm struggling to get to the computer often enough

Honeymoonmummy · 09/04/2009 22:22

Hi Loulou, I've not taken any AD's since Poppy was sick. I've been back to the docs today actually. She didn't know my thyroid was borderline underactive in a previous blood test so I've just been for another today to see if that's caused the PND and the other symptoms.

I've decided I might try the AD's again when Poppy settles down, she seems to be really sick recently even tho I've increased her renitadine dose to the max she can have for her weight. I'm not sure why she's being so sick, she should be starting to improve by now as she's getting stronger. At least she doesn't have much discomfort with it anymore, not like she used to.

I went to the library before and got all the AK weaning books out. Purees here we come! [in 4 weeks]

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/04/2009 08:39

Ds is lots brighter today . Even managed some breakfast this morning, and fed lots in the night.

We have a framed back carrier loulou (the nomad one), which dh finds comfy, but I don't. I think I'm just the wrong shape for those sorts of things.

Glad to hear D is better, csws... I can't read back too much b/c only have a few min before Q is up again I'm sure...
Q went from poo straining to having 3 jabs and feeling miserable. Fever calpol fever calpol fever rash, cool and clammy to fever...
and fusssssssssssssing ALL DAY LONG yesterday. Just whining even when being carried around. That NEVER happens. He usually stops crying/fussingn when carried around... he was even carrying on in his carseat and pushchair! This has never happened. Fingers crossed for a better day. He was up between 2am-4am (went to bed at 7pm last night). Fed at 4am, screamed at 5am, fed again at 5am and he's been asleep since then.

How much calpol can you give in a day? It seems to work for about 2 hours... then back to square one. but I know you hae to wait at least 4 hours.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/04/2009 09:15

No more than 4 times in 24hrs star.

OP posts:
pepperrabbit · 10/04/2009 09:39

star - I think you can give baby nurofen 2 hours after calpol and then calpol 2 hours after that etc for a really bad fever. NHS direct suggested that to me when DS1 had a very high temp.

Honeymoonmummy · 10/04/2009 12:05

Sorry to hear about your bad night Star, we didn't have a very good one either after 2 blissful nights of sleeping through.

Poppy continued to be more sick than is normal of late the poor thing.

pepperrabbit · 10/04/2009 12:13

myjob my tumble dryer blew up yesterday evening

Marthasmama · 10/04/2009 12:15

CSWS - I think I might be the wrong shape at the moment too!!

Honeymoonmummy · 10/04/2009 12:19

Funny Pepper

If being the wrong shape means being too fat then sign me up too...

Honeymoonmummy · 10/04/2009 13:02

Aaaargh which highchair do I get? Easy to clean has to be the priority. CSWS the legs on yours look a bit too long.

Marthasmama · 10/04/2009 13:05

Hmm - I am the wrong shape as well as being fat! CSWS and I are over blessed in the boob department and that can sometimes be a problem with baby carriers. Is that what you find CSWS? Even with the front carrier my boobs are squashed down the sides. Poor P being so sick. It's so tough on both of you

Pepper - Our tumble dryer is on it's last legs but luckily with summer coming up we can air dry everything. Oh hang on, no we can't. DH thought it would be a good idea to see if ds could hang on it last Summer and now it's broken. Our vacuum has broken, well my DAD broke it but won't admit it even though I SAW him break it. This means that we have a very fluffy house. It needs replacing fixing.

Star - Sorry to hear Q had such a hard time with his jabs. Some babies really suffer with them .

I have little sympathy with you hmm about the lack of sleep as two nights of sleeping through sounds like heaven!! M only woke up twice last night. But she did decide that 5.30 was morning. How she is managing on such a small amount of sleep is beyond me. She is quite happy today, munching on a blueberry rice cake! Her co-ordination has suddenly clicked, so... BLW from her on in. Yay When the camera is charged I'll take some pictures. Ha ha!!! She's now banging her tray like a drum and thinks it's great fun.

CSWS - SO glad that D is feeling better. That must be such a relief.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/04/2009 13:30

Legs look too long for what hmm?! Height wise it's adjustable, and if you mean the legs that stick out the back then they easily fold up when chair not in use (and you actually want them longish for stability when in use).

I'm too booby and too hippy.

OP posts:
pepperrabbit · 10/04/2009 13:33

at least you're balanced CSWS, got to be a better option than hips but no norks!

star6 · 10/04/2009 13:49

lol at everyone describing their "shapes"
pepper, I'm extremely allergic to asprin and ibeuprofin... so I'm a bit nervous that Q may be as well, so am nervous about nurofen. Is it usually like that? if mom is allergic, then baby is too?
spelling messed up on all of the medicine words. sorry.
Q still has a temp. Not very high - 38.5 (that's not awful, right?) head feels warm, but clammy. He has little tiny red dots rash ALL OVER his body except his cheeks - it's on forehead, neck, arms, back, tummy, legs. And freezing cold hands and feet which I'm working to keep warm. he's down for a nap now. But he's pooing much better
pepper and myjob we dont have a tumble drier... everything is hung up to dry.. DH is just too "green" to allow a tumble drier

heather1980 · 10/04/2009 15:00

i couldn't live without my dryer. the amount of washing 2 kids get through is mad!

i have huge hips and boobs as well. it runs in the family! except dd who is so tiny and petite.

pepperrabbit · 10/04/2009 15:04

Not sure star, I'm allergic to penicillin and none of my kids are (well, not tried DD with it so far) but then my dad is and one of my brothers is as well. Does that help? I suspect not! Sorry!
Is Q any better today?

pepperrabbit · 10/04/2009 15:06

heather my grandma had the nickname "Busty Gertie". Clearly ran off in my family rather than through...
