Well, the weekend started off well - but by 12 o'clock when someone hit my car it went downhill pretty darn quick! She pulled out into my car and both she and her passenger admitted her fault, so that's not too bad - I felt awful for her, she's only just passed her test and has a grand's excess on her policy. She only looked about 18 and was on the edge of tears, especially when she saw me run round the car to check M was ok.

It was her door that was hit most and I nearly shat myself, but she slept though the whole thing!!!!! The insurnce company are giving me a curtasy car, and automatically replace the car seat, which is a relief. But it's gonna cost a few bucks - passenger door mirror, rear passenger side door, quarter panel, wheel and rear bumper! Ouch!

Hope you're all having a better weekend!

thehouseofmirth · 02/05/2009 18:00

Oh PSL how scary! Though you actually sound pretty OK given the circumstances. Shame about your car but you're OK and that's what counts.

Luckily we had a much nicer day than you. Decided about 11-ish to invite some friends over for a bbq and after a super-speedy dash round Waitrose had lazy day in the garden with boys running round amusing themselves, babies snoozing, men cooking, and mummies drinking wine...

PinkTulips · 02/05/2009 18:44

[growls softly under her breathe]

dp needs to get a fucking job or i may murder him

MS, hope you're having fun at the wedding.

cocodrillo... glad to know you didn't just abandon us! it's gotton very quiet around here lately. know what you mean about absent minded internet shopping.... can't seem to help myself sometimes!

PinkTulips · 02/05/2009 18:50

whoops, whole other page i missed!

PSL... glad your ok, you must have had an awful fright though, especially with M being in the worst hit area. hope it doesn't take too long to get sorted.

dinky, hope you're surviving the joy of a soft play party and ds1 isn't too overtired.... good luck

littleboyblue · 02/05/2009 19:09

Coco Welcome back
MoS What are you studying? I'm sure you've said before, but I've forgotten Hope it's going well.
dinky Hope ds1's party went well.
PSL OMG! Glad you and M are ok. One of my worst fears is the car being hit.
thom Your day sounds like complete heaven, mummies drinking wine

We've had a lovely day. Took ds's on the buses and a train to get to Putney. met up with my closest friend before I got with dp, but this friend is a guy so it all got a bit weird when we both settled into relationships. He thinks ds1 is a bit crazy, but that's because ds1 started dancing in the pub garden. On his own. No music. And then started spinning and then ran around yelling "plane!" Ds1 is slightly odd then we saw my mum for a bit, and then I took the boys to another pub to see some old regulars that used to drink in a pub I ran. Back home now and dp is putting ds2 to bed and ds1 in having a late dinner, so will go to bed late.........could be interesting!

littleboyblue · 02/05/2009 19:10

Oh, and I changed the language on my fb page to pirate after seeing a thread on here, and it is soooooooo funny! I can't stop laughing when I log on.

elkiedee · 02/05/2009 20:57

We have a party for ds1 tomorrow, and I still have to make a cake. Am in a bit of a state of panic. The milk monster is sleeping on his cushion on my lap, hope he'll let me put him down so I can make space to start mixing in the kitchen.

PinkTulips · 02/05/2009 21:09

eeek elkiedee, i always leave the cake til the last minute too and end up in a fluster.

haven't tried baking yet since having aaron, hope he leaves you to it!

lardybump · 02/05/2009 21:26

evening all hope you are all well...
PSL that must have been really nasty for you hope all is well and you have calmed down now..

Nice day here we did a shop this morning and BBQ this afternoon, I am now enjoying a small (dont want to get DS drunk now do I) glass of Cava while eating cake... nice...

MS hope you enjoyed the wedding...

katieblirdsnest · 02/05/2009 21:48

PSL i can't imagine how sick you must have felt, glad you're all ok.

thom sorry i haven't been in touch but it would be good to try and meet up at its a kids thing. i'm off to the new forest next week but will contact you the week after to arrange time.

we made a spur of the moment decision to go to whitstable today, so have had a lovely afternoon on the beach with a couple of friends and their kids and a few beers all round. perfect.

does anyone else feel like the world shrinks for a while after having a baby? in my mind it's still the end of february, i forgot that in the rest of the world time actually moves on. and all of a sudden my birthday is upon me...and it's my 40th - eek! i'm saving the big party for later in the year when i can properly drink without worrying about the breastfeeding.

littleboyblue · 03/05/2009 04:33

Luke woke up for a feed an hour ago. He was fed and put to bed at 7pm. How good is that?

PolkSaladLucie · 03/05/2009 04:40

Morning - [bleery eyed emoticon]!

Thanks for all the concern. In all honesty I'm fine (although my car does look a little ), but everyone was fine, they were insured, I'll get a curtsay car and a free car seat, and we needed a new rear bumper from when I dinged it last year! I can say (because we're alright) that it was a bit of a blessing in disguise!

Am typing one handed, so apologies. Oh, and I don't seem to be able to spell curtasy!

PolkSaladLucie · 03/05/2009 04:41

lbb - great mind's think alike!

mumoverseas · 03/05/2009 05:49

morning all, gosh, can't believe some of you are up before me today!

PSL how scary about your car crash but thank god you and M are ok although you must have been very shaken. I still remember our awful car crash last October and how scared I was as DD was in the back

dinky, hope DS1's party when ok and he recovered enough to enjoy it. Also hope DS2 doesn't get the lurgy

LBB I'm supposed to be doing 2 courses. I signed up for the first one, and introduction to counselling skills last summer and after my initial read through the first few pages got bored and put on hold. Really need to get on with it now so have been trying to get back to it and intend doing the first of 4 assignments in the next week. Part of the course is keeping a journal too so I have actually been doing that (a bit on and off!) since last September.
Second course is a law one, introduction to collaborative law (new way of dealing with divorce) as I thought I should 'brush up' my skills in case we go back to the UK and DH expects me to work Hopefully that one will be quite easy as I know divorce law inside out and have also done a family mediation course a few years ago. Watch this space...

to all you who had lovely BBQ's, wine, cake etc, hope you had a lovely time in the sunny weather and MS, hope the wedding went well and you are not too hung over.

dinkystinky · 03/05/2009 07:31

Oh PSL - so sorry to hear about the accident; glad you and M are ok and that all is working out ok for you. Still not great to be in an accident though!

THOM, Lardy - glad you had lovely days in the sun.

Am absolutely shattered today - DS1's party yesterday was good, think he enjoyed it (despite being ill and coughing/spluttering the whole time) as did all his little friends. Pink - I think DS1 is half potty trained as he disappeared a couple of times and I couldnt find him, only to be found wandering back from the loos with his pants and trousers around his ankles having been for a loo. Most amusing but also pride inducing! Though he was in pieces last night when we got him home and spent all night coughing his guts out so will be suffering today. Think am going to call the out of hours doctor as his cough sounds really wet so worried it may be more than just a cold. DH and I were exhausted too from all the running around - so I went to bed at 9.30 for once only to be woken at 10 by a huge group of "yoofs" hanging out outside our house (and actually on our pathway to our house ) making an unholy racket until gone 11. I asked them to keep it down but unsurprisingly they ignored me - and I felt really intimidated in my own home. Danny slept through it but I couldnt

Really rather worried as this is the first time in the year or so we've been here that this has happened - we live on a junction with another road which has just been improved (all that drilling and banging I've been complaining about finally ended on Friday afternoon) to create " a more palatable environment in which to socialise" according to the council - sadly it appears to mean a more palatable environment for hoodies to socialise in Am writing to my councillor this morning to complain and find out what measures they're taking to combat antisocial behaviour having created the spaces for it to take place in! Hope you all had better nights and have good days today.

LBB - hurrah on Luke sleeping so well. All that fresh air must have knocked him out!

And Katieblirdsnest - happy birthday! I know what you mean about entering the baby zone - cant believe our little ones are about to hit 3 months!

  • M woke and grumbled at 4:30, so I went at got her bottle ready. She didn't properly wake for her feed until 7!

She went from 7:30 last night to 7 this morning !

thehouseofmirth · 03/05/2009 08:17

Morning all! Had a really good night last night, Mr T slept from 9.30pm to 3.30pm, fed while I slept and woke up again at 6.45am. But I feel extra tired this morning. Why does that happen? Could be the weird dreams I had - one involving Mr T starting to talk (now, at 10 weeks old!) and his first words being "Mummy, can you direct me to the W H Smith book department"...

I though DS2 had slept well last night but 7pm-3.30am is really impressive LBB. Dinky I'm glad the big party went well - they ought be fun, but you never can tell how they're going to go, can you?! How annoying to be disturbed. Were you not tempted to call the Police?

KatieBN email me and we'll arrange a get together. Maybe IAKT if weather's rubbish or Wimbledon Park if it's sunny? BTW, how long did it take you to get to Whitstable from here?

dinkystinky · 03/05/2009 08:29

Someone clearly did call the police THOM as there was a big police van out there when I went out to ask the kids to keep the noise down - though not a policeman in sight....

MoS Courses sound good. Hope it goes well and you get the work done.
dinky That's awful about the 'yoofs' hanging out on your doorstep. Awful that young people of today haven't managed to learn any respect for others, shocking. It makes me worry about ds's. I can only do so much at home. They've only got to get to a certain age, make friends with the wrong crowd and all our hard work at home teaching manners and respect could be right out the window.
PSL Fantastic on M's sleeping. That's exactly what we want!
Although ds1 has slept through again the past few nights, so that's good.

When Luke does wake in the night, he is only grizzling, not crying, he has always kicked his blanket off despite it being tucked in, and has his head pressed right against the bars, so although it's a long time, I'm not always sure if's it's hunger. Give him his dummy bak and he goes straight back to sleep! Which leaves me sitting there staring at him waiting for him to wake again.

thehouseofmirth · 03/05/2009 09:10

Keep meaning to ask this - has anyone come across an babygros with big feet? Mr T has been in 3-6 month ones (John Lewis) for a few weeks now simply because of his big feet but the're huge round the neck on him and still very snug on his feet. Once the weather gets consistently warmer I'll stick him in his nighties then it won't matter but until then I'd like some proper fitting night attire for him!

PinkTulips · 03/05/2009 10:04

thom, you can get footless ones and put socks on him maybe?

despite screaming the house down yesterday evening while i was trying to get everyone washed and sorted for bed aaron ended up sleeping 8.30 to 4.30, had to be changed (completely, he'd soaked his babyro not to mention kicked off his blanket so he was half frozen the death!) but then fed and went back to sleep til 8am so i'm in the happily rested club this morning.

off to our friends today for a party.... it's his birthday last week and hers next week so they're having a joint celebration today, should be fun, the kids are really excited as they hardly ever get to see their little boy as it's a bit of a long drive.

dinky... how horrible having that last night, don't blame you for being fairly annoyed, idiot teens like that can be so aggressive when they're roaming in a pack like that you were brave to shout out to them. hope it's not a recurring thing.

psl... glad you're still feeling ok after that shock yesterday, sounds like you're seeing the bright side of it though!

thehouseofmirth · 03/05/2009 10:45

PT he holds the world record in speed sock removal so, no, not really!

PinkTulips · 03/05/2009 11:01

i stockpiled on lidl baby socks before aaron arrived... they're fully elasticated, really thick and go most of the way up his calves..... tis rare he can remove one of those. the primark and tesco ones now might as well be left in the drawer!

littleboyblue · 03/05/2009 11:04

I find socks from Gap to be quite crap too. Re babygrows, Next seem to be a bit bigger than others, also Matalan was good, we have similar issues here with big feet.
