Cardi? MS you are sliding down the slippery slope to swampsterdom! And I've go 10+ years on you!

Colds here, snuffley baby feeding, snorting, hacking and windy crapping with each rasping cough.

We are down at the outlaws', everyone but me and DS3 has gone to look at the sea. I am busy feeding, malingering, and MNing. I am in heaven.

On a cloth bot holiday too...

PinkTulips · 11/04/2009 13:13

swampy i hope those are compostable nappies you made yourself using recycled editions of The Hippy Times and Greenpeace monthly newsletters or we may have to dock you lentil weaver points [stern look]

PinkTulips · 11/04/2009 13:17

my shocked face looks naked without her bunny ears

MarkStretch · 11/04/2009 13:48

A cloth bot holiday!

I am horrified!

swampster · 11/04/2009 14:06

Just as well as I don't have nearly enough cloth nappies to keep up with Mr-poo-every-time-I-cough - and I have a fair few!

Just caught up with the penguins .

swampster · 11/04/2009 14:08

On the plus side, MIL has promised to knit me some woolly longies! Can't wait

herbgarden · 11/04/2009 14:18

I've bypassed the nappy chat

Forgot to add that today was our first outing with DS in his pants...I did go armed with potette too. In the space of 2 hours we had one wee in the coffee shop, one in the softplay car park and two in the ladies. I'm a very proud (and relieved mummy this morning).....But will he really keep going this often for ever? What do I do with DD when I have to go racing to the loo with DS clutching his willy ????? (Didn't have her with us this morning)

You're back!!!!!
I was getting a bit concerned about everyone. Clearly, you all have lives and I don't...
Will catch up later, no time atm, they have both just started screaming. Someone told them I'd logged onto MN I think

swampster · 11/04/2009 17:31

I have been lurking quietly while pretending to have a life. But I have a sneaking suspicion that MS actually has one!

herbgarden · 11/04/2009 17:55

I feel rough. Do you honestly think I could have a hangover on just a couple of glasses of wine??? Just taken a paracetemol and ibruprofen cocktail and may have to have an early night.

It took DH 4 hours and one blocked drain later to pressure hose the patio (makes it sound enormous but it really isn't) and my Dad ending up having to come round with his drain rods (he has some weird love of unblocking drains my Dad). Anyway it looks amazing - a completely different colour - I've been round pressure washing the garden furniture too. It's very satisfying.

I now feel inspired to get my pots out of the shed and get them ready to plant up some flowers for summer. I have a pathological hatred though of petunias - so will have to find something alternative - most garden centres only seem to offer the bog standard petunias/gerniums/lobelia though. My seeds are doing well although I've been trying to grow some sunflowers from seed and now don't know what to do with them as they've gone all leggy- anyone green fingered out there any idea?

I'm rambling. Can you tell I'm bored. I have my parents and in-laws with great grandma (DH's grandma) and my sister and her fiance coming for tea tomorrow -the traditional type with cakes, sandwiches and scones and cream. Both mums are good cooks so I've delegated the baking to them and I'm doing the sarnies . Someone gave me a lovely cake stand for my birthday a couple of years ago so I'm going to get it out. I've come over all Nigella. Anyway hope the Grannies don't fight over DD - I usually have to prise her off them.

Catch up later....have a good evening everyone.

PinkTulips · 11/04/2009 18:52

herby, my sunflowers always go leggy if i start them indoors too. if you start them outdoors they seem to get nice and strong as they grow but i'm going to have to stake all my indoor ones. just use a wooden skewer and tie the seedling to it, and get them outside in the elements as soon as it's warm enough so they start strengthening up.

it's the first day i've been able to get out of the house without the kids and every bloody shop within 20 miles has stopped seling eater eggs already..... i spent a very wet grumpy afternoon driving all overe the county searching for easter eggs and found none.

thankfully i had the little eggs for their easter egg hunt already and they do have an egg each but they know about those big eggs as they picked them so can't pretend the easter bunny brought them! am hoping several bags of little eggs hidden about and a kids gardening set will keep them happy in place of big eggs from the bunny meister i suck at this stuff!

swampy, does your mil knit for random strangers her dil talks to on the puter? i'd love some longies for aaron but can't justify the money that company (who's name i've temporarily misplaced in the memory warehouse) charge

herbie.... pull-ups are the only way i can bring ds1 out of the house! dd still needs to pee everytime we go out and i usually have to tell her to hold it when she announces mid tesco shop she needs the loo, can't exactly bring 3 kids and a trolly full of food to the toilets with me can i?!

MrsY · 11/04/2009 19:06

Evenin' all.

Just a quick check-in before madam needs feeding... It's been so long since I've posted the thread had dropped of my 'threads I'm on' list

It's been a busy day today - I've re-hung all the curtains in the house as my mum told me I'd done them all wrong! But the beautiful Beatrix Potter curtains are now up in the nursery, so all we have to do is clear out the PC and paint the walls and woodwork. And then had my gran round for lunch - she dropped salmon all over my floor and sofa and then rubbed it in before I got a chance to wipe it and then she got in a huff 'cos I wouldn't stop to get her any chocolate (she's diabetic!).

However, my day is looking up; John's just got home from work and is gonna make spaghetti carbonara, and I've got a Magners chilling in the fridge - heaven!

littleboyblue · 11/04/2009 20:29

chilled home you had a lovely time at centreparcs. We've never been, but a friend of mine goes on a girls weekend there every year, so must be nice.
MS The last time I went out, I felt really old, I don't know if that's just because people are looking younger these days or because they are actually all 15! Ps, I love my cardy!
PT Hope the tooth is a bit better. the worst pain in the world I think.
MrsY I'm about to crack open a stella

Ds1 only woke twice last night, but I managed to keep him in his own bed which was fab. His temp is creeping back to normal now (37?) and he seems alot better in himself, still a little sub-dued, but I don't mind that too much
I took hik to his friends 2nd birthday party today and dp had agreed to have Luke at home with him so I didn't have to take both, I felt really guilty because he is still on nights (apart from last night) and he got up last night with Luke so he must be completely shattered! When I was on the bus to the party, I sent him a text saying thank you for doing this today and that I knew he must be exhausted but that I really appreciated the help and e text back and said, well they are my kids too , so don't know if something I've said has hit home or he too has found acceptance and knows this is what life will be like for a while. or maybe he logged onto here and read some of my posts.........
So I am loving dp very much atm, and am very grateful for the help last night and today. He even again this morning got up early although I was getting up anyway and he washed and sterilised the bottles again.

PinkTulips · 11/04/2009 21:03

lbb.....dp's good streak must be contagious. hope it lasts for both of us

MarkStretch · 11/04/2009 21:39

My easter egg tells me on the back that the entire egg contains 1013 calories.

WHY? Why do that? Now I feel guilty for eating it. It's a bloody easter egg, I know it's not going to be good for me but it's not like I eat them every day?!?!

littleboyblue · 11/04/2009 21:56

PT Yes, fingers crossed
MS I have (been eating easter eggs every day!), I don't know why people keep buying chocolate for ds1, I mean do they really think I'm going to let him eat a whole easter egg, let alone 5 of them?!

elkiedee · 11/04/2009 22:59

dp's mother has given both my babies easter eggs . Do I share both with ds1 or should I make sure ds2 gets maximum benefit of his through me by eating it all myself?

PinkTulips · 11/04/2009 23:20

a mate of ours came to visit tonight and his dp sent eggs for the kids.... queue me rooting through the cupboard for somthing to give him for his kid as it hadn't even occured to me til then! dp has had to relinquish one of his 6 packs of creme eggs

elkidee.... eat it yourself, did you not see that study recently that found breastmilk is flavoured by what we eat, you want him to have lovely chocolatey milk for easter right?

thehouseofmirth · 12/04/2009 00:56

Elkiedee it is your motherly duty to eat that egg!

PT they'd run out of eggs in Wimbledon too today and I hadn't even got the little eggs for DS1's hunt. Finally found some lovely chocolate bunnies though so hope that'll be OK. MIL has bought him an enormous Thornton's egg too which I think I ought to help him with. M & S had special offer on toffee chocolate coated popcorn and chocolate brazils so I've polished off a packet of each this evening. Have started wafting stuff under Baby T's nose to for him to sniff and he seemed to quite like the chocolate brazil!

SweetTalkinWoman · 12/04/2009 06:31

LOL at the Easter Egg scoffing!! We've been tucking in everyday too! Like you say LBB, it's not like I'm going to give DD tons of chocolate and send her hyper.... well, that's my excuse anyway.

How annoying - I thought I'd posted last night, but it doesn't seem to have appeared on the thread . It was a long one too . In short it was thanking everyone for all the advice you've been sharing with me about colicky babies and gruesome toddlers. we've had a couple of days/nights which I can actually say have been rather pleasant! Sam is still tricky to settle in the evening, but the colicky screaming seems to have subsided (could still all go wrong tonight!!!) and I'm persevering with the bedtime routine for him. I've now had three nights of about 7 hours sleep (some of that on a camp bed in the spare room!) but am feeling on top of things at the moment.... I'm sure it'll have all gone pear-shaped when I next post, but I'm enjoying the moment!

PT and LBB I need some of your DP's good efforts to rub off on mine! He's arranged to do some go-karting today and is mountain biking in Wales tomorrow. The thing is, he's been at home the last couple of days and is such a miserable sod that I'd rather he went out.... Until it gets to bath/bedtime then I need the extra pair of hands. He says he struggles with "domestic drudgery" so not sure how we overcome that, because alot of the day to day stuff with kids is rather "domestic"! I have to ask him to help out with things i.e. he would never, say, unload or load the washing machine, wash/sterilise bottles, sweep floor, change nappies etc unless I ask him to, then he gets in a huff and mutters about nagging.... aarrggghhhhh! I know he works all week, but then so do I, so I think at the weekend we should share the load.

LBB and Dinky - you know, I'm going to arrange a night out with the girls soon - as much for DH as myself! I can't imagine it would be a late one and will certainly be wearing a cardi but I do need to get out. In fact, while everyone's still asleep I'm going to get texting now...

Hope everyone enjoys their Easter Egg hunts/afternoon teas (Herbgarden - sounds lovely. I'm a keen baker but haven't had the chance recently!) and that the rain dries up....

Happy Easter

littleboyblue · 12/04/2009 08:45

STW Glad you've had a few good days and nights, really pleased for you. of 7 hours sleep! Although, lastnight wasn't too bad, Luke went down at 7 and woke for a feed at 12:30, then he woke again at about 3, I spent 5/10mins just giving him his dummy as I needed a bit of time for my body to get into gear, but we must of just fallen back to sleep because I woke at 7am and he was fast asleep and I know I didn't feed him..........
It's taken years for dp to sterilise a bottle and he would never think to put the washing machine on!

Happy Easter

PinkTulips · 12/04/2009 10:48

HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!

was woken at 7.30 by ds1 wanting to 'catch the easter bunny'

kids are full of chocolate and hyper now so off to my parents we go to let them destroy their house

enjoy the day everyone, looks like it could be nice here when the mist clears here
