poledra - oh dear those bugs just keep coming and coming, hopefully the end will be in sight for you soon, I hate the sickness the most, it's the constant cleaning up after them as of course they cannot do it in the toilet or the sick bucket

ponto - no Bethany has yet to sleep in her new room as her cot needs to be dismantled and reassembled in her room, I knwo it's going to be hard for her for a few days getting used to new sleep clues etc but hopefully after a few days of pain it will get better, she was in our bed from 11.30pm last night kicking, punching, rolling about no one was getting much sleep, if B doesn't move out I'm sure DP will. Bryony sounds lovely, pebbles in the fireplace are a favourite here, I have her toy baskets in front of our fireplace as a firguard (fire is never on it's just one of those modern ones with the pebble bowl for decoration) if I tell her NO BETHANY in a stern voice she thinks about it for a minute and burst out crying. I have a tupperware box with all the bobbles and clips in it and the minute she sees or hears it coming out she is over like a shot to get at it, I thinkit's her favourite toy.

Anymore littlies ahving a big one birthday today?

cass66 · 10/07/2009 09:53

Hi guys, SK, Edward does the same, he loves crawling towards the oven and I say 'no' in a stern voice. He looks at me, his lwerlip goes out and then he cries. very sweet, but it's good they know the important sounding 'no'!!

IT'S EDWARDS BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!! I felt very emotional putting him to bed last night, my last baby is one.

I;m expecting my friends round soon (should stop mumsnetting and get ready), then having a little family party for him after school. His presents are still in the bags in the back of my car after our shopping trip yesterday. Have splashed out and bought him one of those SMART trikes. thought I could push him to school in it instead of the pram. And lots of thomas stuff and night garden stuff. nice to avoid the pink barbie aisles for once!!!

must go, party to sort out and birthday boy has woken up!

sweetkitty · 10/07/2009 10:09

happy birthday Edward - I knew it was one babies' birthday today but couldn't remember who sometimes I get confused with MN and RL names, hope he likes his Smart Trike I thought the same I could push B in it instead of her pram, must seem funny buying boys toys too anyway hope you have a lovely time x

pigleychez · 10/07/2009 10:36

oh, Happy birthday Edward.
I still cant get over how quicky the year has gone!
We too have bought Abigail a smart trike.

Ponto- Its amazing what they understand isnt it. If Abigail finds something that is Mummies, she will pick it up and bring it to me... soo sweet.

SK- Abigails another one that Understands NO. It depends on what tone of No she hears. A simple No then she looks at me grins and shakes her head.. but a stern No usually brings tears. The lastest thing is when she gets frustrated if she cant do something or isnt allowed, she starts headbutting the nearest thing.. be it the floor, door, furniture.. anything then starts crying as it hurts!.Odd Child!

Poledra- Poor you! Your family really has been through it lately with all your illnesses!

Rumpel · 10/07/2009 13:34

Hi All,

Been AWOl for a while and it takes SOOOOOO LONG to catch up with all your goss!

Happy Birthday to all those bubbas I missed and for Edward today

HUBARB - great to hear from you and give our best to your good lady (bit patronising re the camera and your Missus though ) Yous should know better being a nurse and all that - all these strong ladies on here

JODIE - how is your running going? When is the run or has it been? I am still a chub (SK take note ) bloody hard trying to lose weight when I like my wine/cake so much .

CASS - what'shappeing re you moving next to me? My lovely elderly neighbour is thinking of selling - garden is to die for - you could move in there .

CILC - great to hear form you to - xxx to Raff.

RED - poor you and give that wee monkey Louis a proper talking to re how much Mummy needs sleep (SK pop Bethany on the phone at the time so she can make a mental note too .

MUMMY - MASSIVE congrats and pat on back for completing your F degree - very hard work when you have bubbas. Well done - what's next now?

SK - think it's about time you got your room and your boobs back - you sound perpetually knackered! How are you feeeling re meds - they helping at all? if you are coming up to Blair Drummond at all over the summer/autumn let me know and we'll try to meet up. xx

DISNEY - do you see your self as lucky or unlucky? I always wonder about that as DH and I always say - it was lucky, it could have been worse etc but bloody hell life doesn't half throw some shit your way too! No wonder you have a poorly heart with all the stuff you have had to cope with over the years - it takes its toll trying to be strong and there for everyone. Give Samuel a big squishy belated BD cuddle and kiss from us.

Hi to everone else and soory if I havenm't mentioned you by name.

Wee update on us:

Calvin has 3 teeth - upper right incisor is trying to come through now. He is standing up and walking holding hands but he gets so excited he does a Michael Flatley rather than walk! He can say ta and sounds like 'here'. His hair is growing in thick and fabulously red. The kids loved the camping - note to self though - bigger tent required as is inflatable mattress next time and remember to pack earplugs! Gorgeous campsite - highly recommend it if you are thinking of visiting Scotland - Fort William is gorgeous - I'd never been before and the campsite was fantastic - 4 blocks with showers, toilets, scullery, water, bbq areas, shop, food van, internet, kids play area in the heart of breathtakingly beautiful surrounds of Glen Nevis - remember the skin-so-soft for the midges though LOL.

Took Calvin swimming for the first time which he adored.

Since then I have had another 2 interviews but big one this Thurs for college in Dunfermline so fingers x.

We are off to Perth races this Sunday for family day with soem friends so should be a bit different. Next week mega busy. Have booked C into nursery Monday as Wednesday is his BD and want to spend the day just the 2 of us so DD will be going into nursery Wed and her and I will spend Mon together.

Was working last Sat night - doing a pamaper hen night party with my freinds' mum - ended up doing manicures for 5 hours and getting home at midnight.

We are going to Blair Drummond next Sunday to properly celebrate Calvin's bd, meeting some friends. have got him a wee wooden trike, a sand/water table and a roary the racing car tent with other odds and sods.

Must go DH at Uni all this week and loads to do.

Take care all and big squishy cuddles to all the bubbas.

hi all and a happy birthday to EDWARD

rumpel i regard us a lucky i guess i have been given the greatest gift of all in my children, i know samuel is very poorly but we are having to fight all the much harder to keep him with us, we appreiate so much in our lives and thank God we have each other.
i have down days and sad days then i look around and know i am blessed. im having to take it much easier these days which isnt a bad thing really
so in answer to your question yes i am lucky

sorry shortish post im fixing dinner here

purplejennyrose · 10/07/2009 21:38

Hi all, just popping in!

Happy birthday to all the gorgeous babies!! Florence enjoyed her special day despite a heavy cold and interminable teething - can't believe a year's gone by already.

Rumpel, how do you manage camping with a mobile baby?? Did he stay in the tent? Did you take a travel cot? Interested as contemplating camping with my two - they'd love it but Florence is an escape artist and never keeps still.
She also eats absolutely everything - mainly cardboard and paper but ate a woodlouse last weekend (I fished the bits out of her mouth!) and has had a couple of near misses with a glass 'stone' in the garden and a tiny doll's china teacup from dd1's doll's house

red - really hope you get the sleep sorted - I don't know how you survive. One of my friends had her 2nd 3 weeks before Florence, and he is only just starting to go more than an hour or two at a time in the night. He seems to have silent reflux though.

Well, on that note better go and get to bed - have been up loads with dd1 who has a stomach bug. Back at work now, and still getting a lot of chronic pain flaring up, so glad that the summer hols are nearly here - dh going part-time also - yay - he's a uni lecturer and the work load is stupid, so it'll make a huge difference to quality of life even if we have to tighten our belts financially.

Had a fab week in Menorca - treated by in-laws - would highly recommend it, very child friendly, beautiful, clean, easy flight, hot but not too hot, lovely safe beach. dd1 started off wary of he sea and finished the week running in and out of the thigh-deep water by herself and dunking herself right under!!

sweetkitty · 10/07/2009 22:45

Night one in her own room - had a good BF then had a wee moan and cry for 20 mins before drifting off, DP has a makeshift bed in her room tonight so we shall see what the night brings

Rumpel - thanks for asking after me and good to see you, was thinking of you as it's our "twins" are one on Wednesday. I think the meds are helping they definately take the edge off although some days the anxiety is a battle. Will definitely keep you posted re Blair Drummond although I don't know if we will make it back this Summer as we have Loundon Castle and Edinburgh Zoo to go still. Glad C is doing well and your camping trip was a huge success you are braver than me.

purplejenny - great to see you too, glad Florence had a good birthday too seems like 5 minutes ago I was logging in every morning to see if any more babies had been born, today was my EDD last year. Hope you all get over your lurgies soon as well x

disneystar1 · 10/07/2009 22:56

JODIEwantsanewname · 11/07/2009 22:12

Jodie - whooo hooo waves at your tent

Well quick update on the the quest for sleep part 1 - she went to sleep after a quick moan, woke 3 times DP picked her up hugged her and lay her back down stroked her back and she went back to sleep, took 10 mins the longest time, I am so happy thought she would spend hours screaming for a boob. She woke at 6.45am and I took her downstairs for a morning feed. Tonight she went to sleep in her bed awake after a nice feed fingers crossed the night isn't too bad, well for DP I get to sleep in a nice big bed.

disneystar1 · 12/07/2009 11:17

awwww sk bethany is being a star isnt she....bless her and i bet it makes them morning feeds and cuddles all the more special doesnt it

disneystar1 · 12/07/2009 11:19

M2L how you doing girl.....? not long now eh i think of you often and wonder and hope your ok ...take care ....x

sweetkitty · 12/07/2009 16:15

Last night was good and bad, bad she woke quite a lot, good in that DP said she settled back to sleep in a minute with some back patting. She's now got another cold so head full of snot only about 3 days since the antibiotics cleared the last one up hoping it doesn't get into her ears again.

hope everyone else having a nice Sunday xxx

pigleychez · 12/07/2009 16:59

Hello everyone

Rumpel- Hope the interviews went well. You sound rather busy

Jenny- Happy belated Birthday to Florence. Your holiday sounds great and what a fab treat.. Lucky you!

SK- So glad things are going well with B in her own room. Sounds like DP is doing well too. Hope the cold doesnt upset things too much.

Jodie- Have a fab time camping

We have just booked for our Driveway to be done.(3-4 weeks time) Its a big garden at the mo so will look so different. Be so nice to have off road parking again and it will be plenty big enough for visitors. It should fit 5 cars

Been doing more painting this weekend.. keep seeing so many job that I want to finish/do before Abigails party. DH keeps pointing out that no-one will notice them and even if they do then we only moved in in April so wont expect eveything to be done. I know hes right still rushing round trying to make everything perfect!

Ive been getting abit emotional at the though of Abigail turning One. Silly I know but it seems to have gone far too quickly!

Was also thinking the other day that im suprised that no one else is pregnant yet!?!

bebejones · 12/07/2009 20:22

Is anyone else finding the new forum layout really irritating?! I hate going into 'threads I'm watching' & not being able to see who has posted just a snippet from the last post!! But then I am not fond of change!!!

Pigley - I feel very much the same about P turning one, although still slightly excited about the party (even though it's a bit of an extravagence & more for us than her!!!) I also thought that the other day about no one else being pregnant yet!!!! We are planning on TTC next year. Don't think I could cope with two under 2!! Think ppl who do are saints!

SK - fingers crossed that things continue going well with B in her own room!

V of ppl taking holidays, can't remember the last time we got away somewhere. Didn't even get a honeymoon as we found out I was pregnant 2 weeks before our wedding & were planning a summer honeymoon! Had a baby instead!!!

Can't work out if my hayfever is awful or if I actually have a cold, but feel rubbish! Sore throat, constant runny nose & sneezing, just want it to go away been like this for nearly 2 weeks & just assumed it was hayfever hitting a peak. Now not so sure, anyone else suffering with hayfever like this atm?

P is really doing well standing on her own. She even bent down to pick something up and stood up again not holding on yesterday. I was so impressed. Walking very hit & miss, some days brilliant other days clumsy as hell! But still early days! Must go play some bejewled while I can, although playing it when tired is never too good!!

sweetkitty · 12/07/2009 22:26

Thanks bebe and pigley - am keeping everything crossed I actually cannot believe she is doing so well, myabe part of me thought she would be screaming for Mummy all night, I also think DP likes it as he is now able to comfort her.

I am a bag of emotions right now with B turning one and DD1 turning 5 and starting school.

pigley - I am the same we are having a BBQ for everyone's birthday and I've already started my cleaning no painting apart from touching up the bits of my chocolate wall where the girls have been busy, cleaned the dining room carpet tonight. I think I have bought too many decorations too oh well.

bebe - poor you with the cold, P will get there with the walking I am sure, B is not wanting to stand or walk these days, if you stand her up she will kneel, she crawls and kneels and she can get to what she wants. She also knows the biscuit tin and goes mad when she sees it now, that and the bobble and hair clip tin too

disneystar1 · 13/07/2009 07:22

hi all just wonderered if anyone else has had to keep the dc,s away from school due to swine flu? is it in anyone elses schools please. its in ours and they wont shut the school due to its spread nationwide here but im keeping all my dc,s at home on medical advise for samuel

disneystar1 · 13/07/2009 07:25

just to add we bought samuel a smart trike for his birthday and he loves it absolutely loves it, i think it was a huge success and lots of us brought it didnt we,

sweetkitty · 13/07/2009 08:05

I am taking credit for the smart trike then you lot all copied me Bethany will get hers on Wednesday.

She did so well last night I cannot actually believe it, she went down at 8pm, had a whimper about 11.30pm and DP settled her down in about 2 minutes and that was her until................................... wait for it 7.15am that is with a cold she has never slept that long in her life before, she had a ncie feed when she woke my boobs are heaving.

On a sad not I have been up since 3am, my lovely lovely MIL died last night, I am so upset and still in shock, we got a phonecall from SIL to say she had been rushed to hospital then she phoned back to say she had died, heart attack she was only 61. I cannot believe it, it is DP's birthday tomorrow too, I spoke to her on Friday and we were talking about all the birthdays and the BBQ and how we were all looking forward to them. Haven't told the girls yet, DP will do it when he comes back, poor DP. I ahve known my MIL for over 15 years and in that time she has been more like a mum to me than my own mum is, so so sad, my girls have lost their Gran they adore

thepuddingchef · 13/07/2009 08:47

Hi SK, I don't normally post just lurk, but I couldn't let this one go by without saying that i'm sorry for your loss. I know exactly what your feeling as my dh's mum died just after xmas of a heart attack she was 57. It was a very sad time and to be honest it still is. I suppose I'm lucky that my dc are too young to understand. William sees pics of chris and just says nanny and laughs because that is all they did when they were together...have lots of fun.
Have a very un-mnet ((hug))

pigleychez · 13/07/2009 09:14

Oh SK

Such sad news. I hate it when the phone rings during the night... you just know its not good news! Such a shock for you and DP. Hoep things go OK telling the girls Thinking of you.

Must just say a big Well Done to B though! She's done really well hasnt she

Poledra · 13/07/2009 10:01

Just a quickie to say hello and keep this on my active convos! The bugs finally seem to be on teir way out - DD2 has been eating normally since yesterday(first time since Tues!) and has only had one melt down which isn't too bad for a girl who's been so poorly.

Back to work on Weds - I cannot believe how fast this year has gone past. I know I've been lucky to have the year but it's not enough . I was looking at some old photos yesterday and realised that DDs 1 and 2 were walking by now! O is obviously a slower starter in this than her sisters but hey, she'll get there in her own good time.

Happy birthday to any babies I missed. The parties all sound lovely - we're not doing much for O (NTC!) as the older girls have another birthday party that day. My parents will be here though, so there will definitely be cake!

Best go now, O is shouting at me and I need to get some houswork done before I collect DD2 from playschool. Have a lovely day.

Glad to hear your DD has got shot of the wastrel she was with disney - hope she can get the rest of her life straightenend out.

Poledra · 13/07/2009 10:03

Oh, SK, hadn't seen your post - I am so so sorry. To lose someone so special and so suddenly is devastating. Thinking of you, and your DP.

disneystar1 · 13/07/2009 11:02
