Hi all,

Foundation degree all finished - just awaiting result in august

Happy birthday to little ones i've missed. Very excited about DS birthday next week, went and brought his pressie today (trike thingy from mothercare)

Going to the zoo on his birhtday, he loves animals so should be fun!

He is cruising well, 4 teeth and 3 others cutting. As for hair, he had tons of it, gotta get it cut again.

Posted in health but anyone got experience of foot problems, DS has internal rotation of his left foot, is very noticable. Gotta see podiatrist (foot specialist), waiting appointment. Also have his 9-12mth check next week. Last time we saw HV she kept asking if we have eye problems//squints in family, i think his eyes look normal but guessing she doesn't, poor DS peg leg and droopy eyes , but ilove him!!

Hi guys, I'm shattered!! Have taken 11 seven yr old girls to the cinema for my eldests birthday, then home by bus, then in the garden with both sets of grandparents and an uncle to entertain. need to sleep!!!!

am trying to train (and lose weight) for a 10k in 1 month's time, but it's finding the time to get out training. I ran for 40mins on thurs which was hard, but was accidentally too hungover on fri to go out, and had to prepare for J's party this morning so couldn't go. will aim to go tomorrow morning but the red wine beckons.....

the thought of being 35 weeks preg again fill me with dread - good luck M2L!!

ponto · 04/07/2009 21:20

Hi all, not posted for ages but have been reading, my internet connection has been playing up again, I am so with talktalk but they may have fixed the fault for good this time I hope.

Nice to hear the littlies are all doing well, in between the bouts of illness. Happy birthday all round as well!

Bryony is coming on great, she has been walking well holding on to my hand for a couple of weeks, she takes a few steps by herself but then decides crawling is quicker. It's all happened a bit earlier than it did with dd1 and dd2, I think it may be because she's wearing disposable nappies not reusable ones, so she's not got such an enormous bottom getting in her way!

I've not been very organised about planning a party or a present yet. Thinking about getting a playhouse for the garden - Bryony is a bit small for it yet but the other 2 will love it and Bryony will get use out of it when she's bigger.

Will try to post more in future now I'm back, I'm always thinking 'Oh I'll tell the mumsnet girls that' then just running out of time.

sweetkitty · 04/07/2009 23:30

Evening ladies, Bethany still has her ear infection, antibiotics haven't kicked in yet but I have been dosing her with Calpol and Nurofen in case she is in pain, she stratches at her ears as well.

Went and bought loads of decorations for her birthday today and decided to paint our en suite which hasn't been painted since the hosue was built about 7 years ago it's one of those get round to it things, Dp has decided to tile floor so I thought I would paint it first, nice break as DP looked after the girls all day

ponto - good to hear from you Bryony sounds like she is doing well, playhouse seems a good idea, it's difficult to know waht to get a third born but you are right she will love a playhouse when she is older

cass - 10K am impressed, am I correct in thinking you were in a wheelchair with SPD? Cannot always remember who had it and who didn't

mummywannabee - well done on finishing your degree

M2L - 35 weeks already wow get that bag packed missus lol, I had a Sport and loved it, you will definitely need a double with 13 month gap, depends whether you like teh look of a Sport or would like and side by side more, depends also on whether you do a lot of walking or are in and out of a car more. Personally I think Phil and Teds win hands down but other people hate them, the Vibe is just a newer design and costs about £150 more.

red - Happy birthday to Louis all these birthdays had to keep up, sounds like you are busy. Yes I am trying to wean B off the boob at night, once she is well again. Of course, L wants boob at night, I read somewhere it's like having the best restaurant in the world next to you at night, B likes to wake up and have a wee suck them back to sleep, it's just a comfort thing for them isn't it?

Jodie - Happy birthday to Sam, hope he had a lovely day x

bebe - I remember P being poorly now bless her. Sorry about your DH too.

Right off to bed for me just realised the time

disneystar1 · 05/07/2009 08:56

i think cilc had the spd and wheelchair.....

M2L your nearly there arnt you how exciting but so poor you in this heat...xxxx

disneystar1 · 05/07/2009 11:37

advise ladies i have a nearly 18 yr old and has always been a difficult boy he has sworn at me spat on my floors threatened me for as long as i can remember
refuses to work / course depsite encouregment from me and insentives, i am totally saddened that on friday i was trying to talk to him and he was trying to turn his music up to ignore me so i removed it from his hand and he was gripping my wrist so tight thought it was gonna snap,
my dh saw it (hes usually away) was so angry with him he told him to leave right there, he did
my dh is not his dad but has raised him fairly and tteated him like his own, my ds has gone to his dads but he says he cant stay there.
am i right by agreeing with my dh my son was nasty to my boys made samuel cry,

i went to my cardiologist friday too he said in to uncertain terms i have to take it easy or i will have a heart attack.

this has gone on with my son for approx 5 years, hes a big 6ft 4 25 stone lad and is immensly strong him in a temper is lethal

i wanted to help him he has not had a bad life whatsoever in any form there is no excuse for it he says why should he work why should he do anything.

help or advise please.

bebejones · 05/07/2009 12:22

Disney - how awful for you. I have no experience at all so can offer no advice really. I think you just need to be cruel to be kind IYSWIM. Maybe a stint in the 'real world' will do him good. If he can't stay at his dads then he will need to work to support himself & he will realise in time what he did and the way he behaved was wrong. xxx

Poledra · 05/07/2009 12:27

Oh Disney, that's hard. However, I think you need to think of yourself and the younger boys first. He's an adult, he can fend for himself - as bebe says, it'd probably do him good to realise that food doesn't buy itself, clothes don't clean themselves etc. Your younger boys are not adults, and need you and your DH to protect them, even if it's from their older brother.

Tell him you will help him with finding accommodation and a job, but that it cannot be in your house as he is not trustworthy enough. He's still your son, and you still love him - he just needs to realise that his behaviour cannot and will not be tolerated.

Hope you can work it out - love to Sam.

disneystar1 · 05/07/2009 19:24

thx guys that what i thought as well, i love him to bits he knows hes done wrong now and is scared..... ive tried to talk my dh in letting him home (im a softie) but he wont have it hes right of course but as a mom its hard

ponto · 05/07/2009 20:29

Poor you Disney, I'm afraid I have no advice to offer, but it sounds like you are taking a sensible approach. Are you still planning a big party for Samuel's birthday or is he not up to it at the moment?

Mummywannabe, sorry, I also have no direct experience of foot problems either, has this just happened recently or has it always been like it?

Bryony's new skill is coming down stairs backwards, my heart is in my mouth every time she does it but she's so determined to be independent, she just jumps out of my arms if I try to carry her down now so I think she may as well practise (I am of course right behind her!)

disneystar1 · 05/07/2009 22:01

ponto samuel isnt up too much now....

but bryony is a high spirited girl she sounds lovely.....

do you guys remember me daughter was being abused by her partner and she wasnt speaking to me
well she made him leave shes heartbroken and needs me very much im so so glad shes broke away the children were terrified of him.

you might see snippets of info on FB thats what talking about,

im taking my 2 sons to see a 2 bed house tomorrow my ex husband there dad is paying deposit and landlady wants to meet them,,,

pigleychez · 05/07/2009 22:12

Hello

firstly to catch up:

Sk- hope little B's ear infection clears up soon

Bebe- Glad the swimming went well! Hope thing improve for DH.

Jodie- Happy birthday to Sam! Hope you all had a good party.

Red- Happy birthday to Loius! Hope the party today went well
We too are off to a caravan park via the papers in September.

M2L- Wow 35 weeks! Thats really flown!

Mummy- Congrats to finishing the degree. Im sure you will get a great result!
re his foot- Abigail had a slightly inturned foot at birth and was told it because she was overdue and ran out of room in there. We we shown some exercises to do on it and within a few months it was fine. So maybe it might be a case of doing abit of pyshio.

Cass- Wow thats brave with all those girlies! Good luck with the training.

Ponto- A playhouse sounds great fun.. like you say, plenty of years use!

Disney- I agree with the others really re the advice about your son

Thank you FB ladies for the FB comments
Ive had a fab day. Been experimenting with the SLR from DH. Sooo many buttons to learn but cant wait to start snapping away!
Was also very lucky with my other presents.. £120 cash and £40 Next vouchers. DH has the day off tomorrow,so off to Brighton for the day to SPEND SPEND SPEND!!
Also got a fab voucher for Tea for Two at a posh Hotel!
Went out for Lunch with my family today which was fab and Abigail was so well behaved. She was also much better with my parents today as she has been abit wary of them cause she doesnt see them that much. She also spent the afternoon showing off her walking skills! Shes getting good

bebejones · 06/07/2009 20:48

SK - how's B's ear hope she is feeling better?!

Ponto - Can't believe B can do that down stairs how clever, think I'd be hysterical if P tried, she can go up on hands and knees, that's bad enough!!

Disney - glad things with your daughter are starting to resolve themselves now xx

Pigley - Glad you had a good Birthday! What kind of DSLR did you get? I have asked for one but am torn between a Nikon, a Sony & a Canon!! all the techno speak gets a bit much for me though so any suggestions would be great!! Hope you had a lovely day shopping today!

Well, P's tooth number 5 is now just visible & as feared it is the fangy type one! She is very grumpy & restless! She had 20mins nap all day today after being awake half the night. Not screaming, just chatting & grumbling away & playing in her cot. Kept me awake though!!! Needless to say she is knackered tonight. Gave her some Calpol in the hope that I she gets a better nights sleep!

disneystar1 · 08/07/2009 08:27

AND on the bus as my car is still in the garage
bad night with mr samuel as he kept crying in pain last night woudnt let me cuddle lhim or anything so i had to give him pain relief.

pigleychez · 08/07/2009 17:00

Hello all,

Its quiet on here lately... where is everyone?

Bebe- I have olympus E420
Not compared it with the others but its fab to me DH said he researched and its the smallest DSLR camera at the mo... as they can be rather chunky.
Still learning what all the buttons do but the looks like it has all the bells and whistles you would want and more!
My shopping day was abit non eventful... went out to Lakeside intent on spending my £120 birthday money and ended up only buying 2 tops and spending £20!
I actually bought more stuff for Abigail Although not with my birthday money!
Had a lovely lunch out though at "Giraffe". Abigail was quite taken with DH's Thai Duck stir fry. It was extremely nice though!!

Disney- Fingers crossed your house stays a Swineflu free house!
Hope you get the car back soon.

Im pleased to say that after weeks of Abigail waking between 4.45- 6am last night she slept through till 7! only difference was placing a blanket up at her window over the crap blackout blind. Trying it again tonight to check it wasnt a one off.. If not then I think im going to buy some travel blackout blinds that stick the window frame completely blocking out all light. I feel soo much better for that extra bit of sleep.

SK- Hows Bethanys sleep now? Is she learning to settle herself yet?

hubarbspong · 08/07/2009 17:01

Hi ladies, just had a quick 10 mins to catch up. Sorry to hear about the illnesses etc, hope everyone in on the mend. The wee one had tonsilitis a few weeks ago, antibiotics, calpol and tlc sorted it in a few days, though the temperature spikes were a bit scarey. Trying desparately to walk on her own, but cruises well between furniture (4 steps on her baby walker (unprompted by us).
Loves her duplo (was a lego freak myself when I was younger!!) lovely to see and fantastic for hand eye coordination and development of fine motor skills.
Birthday coming up soon, so will need to practice a cake!

Best wishes to all, and thankyou to Rumpel for being so thoughtful and remembering me!

Whoever asked about a DSLR, Nikon D40, fantastic camera, I did a fair bit of research before my wife bought mine, knocks spots of the Canon equivalent in terms of colour reproduction. Very easy to use, even for a total novice, (my wife was using it happily within 10 minutes).

Take care and happy birthdays to all

the Spongs

bebejones · 08/07/2009 19:58

Ooh Pigley - is that the one that had been advertised lately? I just said to DH I ws interested in that as it is small but couldn't remember what it was!!

Hubarb - Good to hear from you & glad you are all well! I was looking at that Nikon as it goes! I still have a while til my birthday (November) so will be doing plenty of research! I had a beautiful 35mm Olympus that I loved at Uni but it is just way to expensive to go down that route print wise these days!!

P is really having trouble with her fang teeth (must find out proper name rather than calling them 'fangs') she screamed in pain for an hour & half at bedtime last night! Hoping for better this evening! Speaking of which must go feed her & put her to bed!!

TheRedSalamander · 09/07/2009 07:07

bebe- think they're canines?

hiya hubarb, glad things are well with you three.

Am here for a bit of moan! tale of woe

No sleep in the salamander househould since forever . Heeeeeeeelp!

TheRedSalamander · 09/07/2009 07:09

disneystar1 · 09/07/2009 08:05

its samuels birthday today ......

bebejones · 09/07/2009 11:05

Happy birthday Samuel!!!! Big Hugs for the gorgeous boy from me & P xx

sweetkitty · 09/07/2009 17:14

hello everyone

Happy birthday to Samuel and Aidan and any of the others I have missed, tehre's loads of birthdays now isn't there?

Bethany is much better, the antibiotics sorted her out and there was no damage to her ear drum.

Tomorrow is D day or should that be B day, she is moving into her own bedroom, feel a bit as for me it marks the end of her being a baby with her first birthday next week as well. DP will go in and comfort her but there will be no Mummy milk snacks in the middle of the night anymore. I will continue giving her BFs morning, afternoon and nighttime though for a wee while longer yet. She can still come in in the morning for cuddles with the rest of us.

bebe - Bethany's fangs have appeared as well

red - I could have written your post you are not alone, as you know I am stopping night tiem Mummy feeds, the first few nights will be hard but should be easy after that. B is the same has always been a difficult sleeper, sleeps no more than 3 hours at a time, always wants boob to send her back to sleep, refused dummy etc etc DD2 was the exact same if not worse, did the same thing with DD2 at a year own room no night feeds worked in 2 days, at no time though was she left ot cry it out on her own DP was always with her. I tried no cry sleep solution didn't work for us we had to go cold turkey.

pigley - always the way I buy nothing for myself always for the girls

Right must go put some dinner on x

minipinkscottish · 09/07/2009 19:48

Happy birthday to Samuel and Aiden and all others I have missed[grin[

Abbie had her first visit to the dentist today and she didn't think much of it... It must be a scarey environment for a wee one

Bought T in the Park tickets for my ds2 for xmas....from official site and got confirmation email - sat and sun ticket....then bought a friday ticket in May for his birthday from official site and got confirmation email. Tickets not released till between 3 and 7 days before event. So last week Friday ticket arrived...yesterday still no weekend tickets.....cut a long story short...bogus and cloned website and no tickets!!!
Now have to get crime number from police and try to get my money back from credit card ....in meantime managed to get replacement tickets for ds2......so now skint too!!! ds2 was great and said he didn't blame me and said not to pay out more money...but he's still my baby and it was his xmas....

But if I could get my hands on these people........

Trying to chill now with glass of wine

Poledra · 09/07/2009 21:41

Ooh minipink that would make me so angry - does your credit card cover you for online fraud maybe?

happy birthday to Aidan and special birthday kisses to Samuel

The plague-ridden Poledra household rolls on - DD2 has been vomiting since Tuesday night, now complaining of a sore ear - can stomach bugs bring on earache?? And DD1 got sent home from school with a headache and a temperature though it seems to have cleared up with Calpol. Still got hte big red cross on the front door though

ponto · 09/07/2009 23:13

TRS, have replied on your thread.

Disney, hope Samuel enjoyed his special day.

Poledra, surely you must have had every bug known to man now! I think we have been through similar horrors in the past, it will end eventually, then they will be immune to everything and won't get ill for years!

SK, hope B settles in her own room for you. Has she been having daytime naps there to get her used to it?

It's amazing how quickly they're growing up isn't it? Bryony copies everything, she was trying to help me when I was drying dd1's hair earlier but unfortunately just kept whacking her in the face with the hairbrush! Also, I started to tell her off today for playing with the fireplace, then realised that she'd found a pebble we'd brought back from the beach and was trying to add it to the fake pebbles (instead of fake coals) we have in our gas fire (it was of course switched off). She was trying to be helpful, bless her
