Hey all, sorry for being rubbish again recently, I've been slammed with freelance work and now I'm back at my other work there's less time to fit it in! It's looking increasingly unlikely that I'll get one of the positions going, but I'm hopeful that this will be a good opportunity to re-assess.
Anyway, much more importantly, belated Happy Birthday to Poppy and the other babies! Our Poppy's favourite current game is to drop her water bottle on the floor and then say 'uh-oh!'. It's only cute the first time, then it's just annoying!
We've just got bike seats for the littlies and with this weather it's been great, they love going on them and we get some exercise, which both I and dh desperately need..!

disneystar1 · 23/06/2009 22:09

happy birthday to luke hope he had a lovely day and what georgeous weather for it....xxxx

bebe shes a clever little thing isnt she and yes i guess the cot lowering is a must now.

pigley it does indeed sound yummy....

thanks rumpel i passed your cuddle on to him, just now...xxxx

disneystar1 · 23/06/2009 22:13

minnie that is so cute and very funny but there again i dont have to clean it up....
i have a trailer buggy for samuel as with my ms a bike seat is not safe for him incase i get spasms, but great fun on a bike isnt it.

JODIEwantsanewname · 24/06/2009 06:38

Morning all, as usual, I'll just post until DS1 starts beating Sam up! He's been a real bugger recently, unless I'm showing him attention, so unless I;m painting, chasing, reading, doing jigsaws etc He's been really naughty, I'm knackered by the end of the day and then I have to start the decorating (No way could I do it with Oliver around!) Mind you, Sam's been very whingy demanding ATM too, and a little woos, Oli only has to go near him and he cries, or if Oli takes a toy off him, it's like he's just ripped his head off, Sam seriously needs to toughen up !

I'm so excited, I'm off to see Take That in Manchester on Friday!!!! It's going to be ace.

rumpel So nice to hear from you! How's the job hunting going?

Minnie Nice to hear from you too!

Bebe at P! I must admit that Sam has been standing in his cot a while and it's been at it's lowest for a while, It doesn't half kill your back!!!

I had a nice day yesterday, remember that comp that I won? well, they got my prize mixed up and instead of the Litttle People stuff, I got a shed load of crafty things from ELC, at first I was abit but decided that you can't look a gift horse in the mouth, so I told them I;d keep it and we painted in the garden yesterday, I have a lovely one of both of their hand prints which I'll frame!!!

Rumpel · 24/06/2009 21:47

Hi all, thanks for all your birthday wishes ladies on FB .

Was up about 5 times with C last night My new BF came around yesterday with her girls and we spent the aft in the garden with lotso fo bare bum babies jumping/rolling about (oh how I long for a succulent peachy bum like that [wistful emoticon] )! They were goosed but that way they were overtired and couldn't sleep properly!

Couldn't wait to drop the wee beggars off to nursery this am

Popped into town and Clarks had a slae on so bought me some sandals for my giant hot feet, DD some trainers for the Autumn/Winter and Calvin 2 pairs of uber cute shoes. Treated myself to 3 Thorntons choccies and a wee fairy cake from M&S too (no wonder I am still a fat pie eh?) LOL.

Gave [pole dancing a miss tonight as am goosed and bellydacning tomorrow and bdancing show on Friday night, then off camping on Sat. Got the pseech researcher around tomorrow am too. I find I gety wuite tired if I do things (ie out and about every day) is it just 'cos I am an old fart or are the rest of you the same? My kids need some down time at home too or they become irritable.

JODIE - we are looking into childcare element of tax credit thing at the mo' as it seems impossible for mto to go back to work unless we get help with childcare cost - I just couldn't afford it! the closing date for college lecturing position is Friday so I shoudl hear about an interview after that - I am going to go along and see if I can wangle Pt instead of FT. I have found in life if you wait long enough them the thing you desire will eventually come your way Had to wait 7.5 year for Dh to marry me LOL! DD has taken to pooing in her pants agin - arggg! That will be fun this weekend camping up Ben Nevis!

me and the 2 DCs are off to meeet my Ps at Glen nevis campsite and saty in a tent for 2 to 3 nights whilst Ps are in their caravan no idea how that will go ! ordered my midge repellant though as they smother me like flies round sh**e!! I'm allergic to the bites aswell and come out in horrible giant blisters. Still looking forward to seeing my parents and hopefully taking Calvin swimming for the first time!

SK - next time you fancy taking a trip to Blair Drummond let me know - we bought season tickets last week and I'll come and meet you there. How are you getting on anxiety wise now? Meds kicking in yet?

I liked the WOW toys and have odered Calvin the wee motorbike and sidecar and police motorbike. He adores his tombliboo buggy now and whizzes around on that changing direction and picking things up. He is crawling all over the joint now and trying to stand up but he is such a sturdy boy he has a lot to lift No idea where he gets that from

Must go ladies (and HUBARB if you are still around). Take care all and big squishy cuddles to the bubbas and those of you who need itxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

pigleychez · 24/06/2009 21:56

CilC · 26/06/2009 07:06

cilcx

disneystar1 · 26/06/2009 11:23

thanks sK sure will take it easy from now on.

i know what sleep deprivation is like truly i do samuel has been in his own bed for 2 weeks now but i like you did night feeds for 11 mths. we sort of trained samuel we put his in his cot awake always and initially sat on the floor with him holding his hand, yes he moaned and we just shushed him and read our book no eye contact.
second week same thing but no holding his hand
this week just lied him down wide awake and in the day at lunch time closed the curtains and he goes to sleep. im still amazed its worked but it has and boy am i greatfull

last night they were all in bed by 7.30 pm and i went to bed at 9pm he woke once i just patted his back gently once and it was enough

SK really wishing you luck and great stamina cos its hard isnt it especially for B and she needs you like a dummy but for your own sanity needs must. hoping it goes quick and routine fast,

cilc well hello there stranger and how are you guys doing?
thread still going i think it always will the dc,s will be teenagers and we will be chatting about it
but hasnt this year flew by and the lovely bubbas all nearly 1 and some are....

well i had a dreaded moment thinking my dishasher was broken and my son had a look and the runner had come off.....DUH...i nearly replaced a perfectly good machine then.

well its friday and im happy on a friday as my dh comes home
hes taking me into town the weekend and letting me choose an eternity ring, were also making plans to renew our views in church next year and then honeymoon in USA as we didnt get one first tim e around
oh i can get a lovely dress as i was 8 mths pregnant before.....

disneystar1 · 26/06/2009 16:12

OMG this is the saddest day ever.....i cannot believe it...........my dh is flying back home to pay tribute.

pigleychez · 26/06/2009 21:59

Clic- Good to see you back

SK- I really feel for you. Lack of sleep really is a killer Hope things improve when she goes into her own room.

Disney- Renewing your vows sounds lovely

A friend and I were due to take our girls to the farm today bt typically the weather was pants this morning so we postponed it till next week. As it happens the weather brightened up so we could of gone in the end. Oh well, something to look forward to next week!

Instead I painted the Kitchen. I managed 2 coats today but its going to need at least another 2 to cover the hideous green! Intend to carry on this weekend along with the Living room.

Abigail has been such a character lately. Tonight during bath she thought it hillarious to continuely throw her dripping sponge at me! and yesterday we played in the garden with a ball playing catching and throwing. Shes was doing very well. DH has been showing her how to kick her ball and she now likes to kick her toys across the room!
Tonight I tried letting her drink from her TT cup without a lid and was amazed at how well she did. She was properly drinking out of it but still needed reminding that you cant wave it around without a lid on!
Shes really amazing me lately!

Hope everyones well

bebejones · 27/06/2009 13:39

Disney - renewing vows sounds lovely!!

Pigley - I know exactly what you mean about being amazed by A, I am so the same with P atm. She has taken to throwing toys across the room and if she is crawling and something is in her way she throws it! Although this backfired yesterday when she threw a stacking donut thingy behing her & it hit the tv and bounced back and hit her in the head, v funny until she realised it hurt & burst into tears!! A is a clever little girl drinking out of a her cup like that!

I have to take the cat back to the vets AGAIN later, had 2 trips Thursday to re-do his cast (has to be done weekly) but he has decided he doesn't want it on so has chewed at the end of it so much he has made his foot bleed! So means probably a cone collar thing, a new cast & antibiotics, and therefore more money!!!

Quick question, I give P a mixture of purees and finger foods but I am never sure how much I should give her. She nearly always finishes the puree (unless she is being a madam) but I am not convinced I am giving her enough? I have little TT pots and usually give her 3/4 pot savoury follwed by 1/2pot sweet or a yoghurt of similar amount. Plus she will have toast or cheese or veggies/fruit to pick at as well. Is that enough? HV had said to go for jar sized portions, but I'm not convinced she would eat that much of one thing in one go!!

Also got a bit of a dilemma with SIL. Her DS is nearly 4months old & weighs 18lb 2oz she has been asking DH (her brother) and me what we think about whether she is overfeeding him and should she be worried. He has jumped lines on his growth chart and her HV has said that it would not be good for him to jump another. She is very cagey when she gives details & doesn't take criticism well. We are finding it hard to give her any sensible feedback because she always takes everything the wrong way and gets really defensive (even though she has asked for advice). He weighed 8lb 1oz at birth and is about a week off 4 months. She gives him 5x 8oz bottles a day and has just started him with baby rice once a day on HV & GP advice because he suffers really badly with wind & is quite gripey. My DH and I obviously only have P to compare him to and she is a.)a girl b.)smaller & c.)a bit of a fussy feeder. Has anyone any idea what weight he should be according to the boys chart in red book? We are just worried coz she gets really closed off if she thinks people are getting at her & she is starting to withdraw a bit already as other relatives are having a go! Any ideas?!?! Sorry to ramble!! Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine (if you have any)

MinnieMummy · 27/06/2009 21:35

Wow Pigley, A holding her cup is impressive, my DS has only just got the hang of an open cup and he's 2.6!! (although admittedly quite lazy )
P has mastered the 'downward facing dog' pose this week so I think it'll be a couple more months before walking.
SK we went cold turkey with P waking at night a few months ago because I just couldn't take the lack of sleep anymore, was tough but worth it. I know you've done it with yr other two but that doesn't make it any less difficult to do now, good luck..
Bebe checking DS's book the 99th centile is 9.25kg, 98th 8.75kg, 91st 8kg sorry don't have a conversion thing to hand and am on phone not pc!
Ooh thunderstorms rolling in here, am childishly excited!

CilC · 27/06/2009 21:49

Hi again!
Congrats disney, sounds very romantic and lovely! Sorry also about MJ. I take it you were a big fan.
SK hang in there - it is awful stuff this sleep deprivation. My two are wonderful sleepers but I am suffering chronic insomnia. It started during my hellish pregnancy and I have not slept properly since. We should trade!
Bebe I would leave your SIL alone...I have had so many do gooders try and give advice on both my dd and ds's weights. I find it unhelpful and really annoying. It usually works it self out. Raff was over the percentile, he just loved his milk/food, but now he has slowed down, at 91st perdentile now and quite svelte (lol). My dd was way under and now she is perfect - just check my facebook pics.
Raff crawled for the first time yesterday...such a lazy little budah! But he has been cruising around for a while, I think he will be one of those who just gets and walks...none of this crawling business!
Oh well bikkie and tea time.

MinnieMummy · 27/06/2009 21:57

Oops Bebe just realized that our book is for breastfed babies so ignore my unhelpful kilo stats anyway!

pigleychez · 27/06/2009 22:18

Bebe- Re your SIL- I think its easy to become obsessed with you dc's weight and the charts but as long as they are eating well and healthy then they weigh what they weigh. Like Adults everyone is different.
Some babys are little chunky monkeys then even out as they get more active.
If the HV has suggested giving baby rice then surely she cant be suprised if he starts putting more weight on.
Abigail has dropped from 50th centile at birth to 25th and lately to 9th. Yes shes quite skinny but shes quite tall but eats like a horse!! So im guessing she going to be one of these annoying girls that can eat what they like and not put on any weight

Re P's portions- Again its easy to become obsessed. I just go with what Abigail wants and let her control her own apetite. One day she might not each much but may make up for it the next day. As long as shes putting on weight then dont worry. Some babys are greedier than others.

Ive actually suprised myself since having Abigail as to how relaxed ive been about things. Usually a control freak but have been suprisingly laid back!

Poor old Jaffa too

Minnie- Know what you mean about the thunderstorms. I dont really like storms but do get strangely excited when I hear that first rumble or flash!

Clic- Well done Raff

Hot hot day here. Typically I was painting the lounge today and was soooooo hot!! Had to keep stopping as I was getting dizzy going up and down the ladder.
Did a mamouth shopping trip today into town and bought Abigails birthday prezzies

Just made some flapjacks ( Bebe) so waiting for them to cool before having a taste.

disneystar1 · 27/06/2009 22:43

hi all had an excellent day at legoland
got talked into buying all the new lego men and things my lego fanatic son said he needed so a compromise was sought.

stopped by at my dads to collect our new kitten called alfie hes 9 weeks old, he was for us but really for samuel to tie in with his birthday iykwim, i know pets are not presents but we always wanted a family cat.

samuel is terrified of alfie.... as soon as the kitten moves he shakes and screams...also said a new sound today he can only say mamama but he kept repeating nanana not much different but a huge success in development for him. having no palate in the roof of his mouth means he wont be able to say many sounds, he was so proud of it and kept shouting it....mt little man....

soooo hot today there and packed my birthday son was happy and we took his friend too. had 5 dc,s and not a problem at all they all slept (not sam) on the way home happy full up, perfect end to the day.

CilC · 28/06/2009 08:16

sounds like a great day disney...love it when they sleep (mostly) on the way home.

bebejones · 28/06/2009 09:00

Disney - sounds like a fantastic day!! How cute to get a kitten as well! But I love cats so I would say that!

Re SIL, I wouldn't generally say anything to her except that she asked for advice & I genuinely didn't know what to say as I didn't really want to get too involved. Just worry a bit about her coz she is quite isolated where she lives & can get very withdrawn to the point of stubborness when people get involved so was just having a dilemma really IYSWIM. I just said to her in the end 'I wouldn't worry too much about her DS as he will let her know if he is hungry & that it will sort itself out and I am here for her if she needs to sound off.' All I can do really.

My BIL's band performed at Glastonbury on one of the stages on Friday night. We are still waiting to get the 411 from him but sounds like they went down a storm which is great news & we are all dead chuffed for him!

It is way too hot here, had a terrible nights sleep. I really think P must be too hot (although she did sleep quite well, woke at 7 though which is early for her) her room was nearly 26degrees this morning. She doesn't like sleeping without sleeping bag, but I think even the lightweight one is too much in this heat. We put her in it in just a nappy but she is so sweaty in the mornings. Trouble is she climbed out of cot without it on when we put her in there the other day!! Might just have to persevere without the bag I think!!!

bebejones · 28/06/2009 09:00

Oh meant to say - pigley - tried the mango chicken curry last night! A winner on all fronts!!!!

minipinkscottish · 28/06/2009 20:37

Hi all just checking in to say hi and happy birthday to all the babies who are now 1

OMG it's sooooooooooo hot today but no sun

disneystar1 · 29/06/2009 10:28

its very hot here too
my 5 yr old had sunstroke the weekend was very bad and i always use hate sun block the works half the school is missing here i think

ive got a busy day here half of my crop is being ravaged by caterpillers despite being netted for the dreaded butterflies, so ive got to crop wash blanch and freeze before i lose the lot....too much hot hot weather unusual in this country, everything is being forced along by nature.

we had a lovely day yesterday after going to church we were invited to the churches bbq and picnic so we went along and it was quite amazing to see how the other live....
the house and land were huge there were no other houses for maybe 10 miles, fountains and the orchards well !!!! amazing

they had archery and the clay shooting, tennis courts we met some fantastic pastors and had a good time, they kept saying how well behaved the boys were in church but i was so anxious that they were going to mess about at the bbq but i just relaxed really as children are children and people have to take what comes with that.....happy smiles and laughter and tantrums in an instant as well

got a hot grumpy little man here today so going to have a snuggle with him he looks funny as hes sooo hot and his hair is so long ive put it all up in a huge ponytail on top of his head to keep him cool and hes wearing a pirate bandana looks cute il take a pic
