Happy Birthday Poppy!!!

Can't believe first birthdays are here already.

I can't access this thread at home (at work at the min think it must be too big, not had problems before though!!!! Have been trying to make it work.

Disney - any news on your daughter yet?

Got to go before i'm spotted mn'ing when I should be working!!

sweetkitty · 18/06/2009 13:54

Happy 1st Birthday hope you are having a lovely day, pics on FB please Mummy?

Well I think B has croup, she was barking like a seal last night and struggling to breathe , she did settle down though, if she is like it tonight will take her to see the GP tomorrow. Been looking it up on the net and antibiotics and cough medicines do not work as it's a virus. She doesn't have a temp and is eating and drinking well so I don't think it's that bad, she just has a very tired Mum and Dad today.

Have DD1's graduation tonight sob sob sob, haven't had a shower today yet and need to bath the DDs also.

Am going out tomorrow night with toddler Mums hence new pair of jeans brag on FB sorry am still in shock, haven't lost as much weight as DP though, he has lost over a stpne and a half since Christmas with all his running. Only problem is all his clothes don't fit either.

Right must dash and get myself kind of semi sorted

pigleychez · 18/06/2009 15:17

Isaidno-
Congratulations to your cousin.. great news. Hope the little guy is ok.

Happy Birthday Poppy

Are you having a party for her?

Jodie- Glad the Body shop parties are going well. I know how you feel about the early mornings... they are nasty arent they. I tend to find myself about to nod off about 4ish.

Disney- Hope Sam enjoyed swimming.. Abigail loves it and will happily stay in the pool for 2 hours!!

Shortsafe- Good to hear from you. Not being able to get us at home.

SK- Hope B is ok. The graduation sounds soo sweet! Enjoy it.
Very about your Jeans!

Abigails party supplies came today.. getting exciting now
Shes become a complete Chatterbox the past week and doesnt shut up! Her favourite saying is " Wodjer, wodjer, wodjer" No idea what shes trying to say! DH joked that my affair with Rodger is now out of the bag. lol

sweetkitty · 18/06/2009 15:20

lol @ wodger it's eddie here still and na na na na for no whilst shaking her head

I'm sure the graduation is just a ploy to make us Mums cry, they have mortar boards and cloaks and they go up and get presented with their school tie and sing a very sad song about leaving to go to school and how precious they are, I mean come on.

pigleychez · 19/06/2009 12:55

Phew what a morning.
Went into town and it was heaving! Was stopped by some Danish guy asking directions to the Library. After giving directions, he blew me a kiss saying I was a very beautiful woman! You can tell hes not from England cant you! And Danish Ladies must be really really ugly!

Then bumped into a Lady who was in the same Antenatal classes as me. She actually only managed to come to 2 as her DD came 5 weeks early. Her 1st birthday is next week. Anyway DC2 is due 29th July!!!

Bought some different coloured ribbons to tie through the belt hooks on Abigails trousers to help keep them up! The 6-9 ones just drop off her but cant buy any smaller for the length! Nightmare.

SK- How was the ceremony last night? Where there floods?

Abigail was awake at 5.30 this monring. I however woke at 7.30 when DH bought her in to me when he went off to work. I started praising her for sleeping in only to be told they had been downstairs since 5.30. Bless DH.

bebejones · 19/06/2009 20:35

Isaidno - Belated Birthday wishes for Poppy, can't believe babies on this thread are turning 1!!! Still a good few weeks away for P!

Disney - how was swimming? Hope you and Sam had a good time!

SK - How was last night? Sounds like a lovely idea, albeit a bit emotional for mummies!!!

Pigley - I have the same problem with trousers on P. Trouble is it's even worse now she is crawling as she pulls them down as she goes & then when she stands you can see alot more nappy than you should!!! Dungarees are quite good though, and adjustable waistbands help a little. I think all of P's are as nearly as tight as I can get them!

I have been a bit all over the place this week. First we had the cat incident. (He is now home & miserable in his cage poor little thing.) Then wednesday morning the washing machine broke & kept tripping the electric, while a load was mid cycle! Turns out was gonna cost more to fix than replace & it's only 2 years old so had to get a new washing machine today, being delivered 2moro morning thank God! Then with a broken washing machine I go and get food poisoning from some salmon on Wednesday evening. I can honestly say I have never felt so ill EVER! Was not pretty!! Nibbled some toast yesterday but was so knackered I still felt fairly rubbish. Have had some chicken noodle soup and toast & a few chips today so am starting to feel a bit better Just can't believe the run of bad luck we have had lately, the last 18months have been one small thing after another, which on their own wouldn't be a problem but when they just keep on going it really gets you down IYKWIM. Car service & MOT next month...I'm living in fear!!!!

Isaidno · 19/06/2009 21:38

hope your cat gets well soon bebejones.
thanks for all the bday wishes for Poppy. We're having a little party tomorrow, just 3 baby friends and their older brother / sisters.

jodie - glad body shop is going well, hope you got your nap.

sweetkitty · 19/06/2009 22:05

Took Bethany to the GP today and she does have croup which for those not in the know is larygitis in babies except as they have smaller airways they get all inflammed they bark like a dog/seal and have trouble breathing, it's viral so nothing GP could give her, DD1 has also got a cough and DD2 has molluscum (wart things) on one of her arms, oh and I have had a tummy bug so not a good day here lol

Graduation was lovely, DD1 was a star and Mummy did indeed cry when she went to get her certificate and school tie

bebe - your poor cat and poor you, never rains eh, hope you and the cat are on the mend and all is well again soon

pigley - at Danish guy lol

minipinkscottish · 19/06/2009 22:39

Oh poor Bethany SK and poor dd1 and dd2 and of course poor you ...you really are having a time of it.

Graduation sk that's lovely....I have ds3's special gradualtion thing at school next week when he leaves primary for secondary and he has already warned me not to cry...but I will

disneystar1 · 20/06/2009 12:12

sk my son danny whos 5 was hospitalised last year pre samuel with croup no sure if you remember i put it on here, its a horrible thing to have and to hear the poor little thing.
suprised he didnt give her anything as danny had to have steroid shots.

we were supposed to go to legoland today as my dh dad was going hes only seen my dc,s 3 times in 2 years he just doesnt make the effort. weve tried to ring him and make arrangements but no luck so we decided not to go as the boys were so looking forward to seeing grandad and he always lets them down, he was going with his new wife and her gc,he takes them everywhere but never his own. quite sad really, for them

ive got the maintenance guy coming round monday to decorate hall stairs landing put wooden flooring down etc.... he gave me a quote which we agreed on but now its well it may go up cos of blah blah blah....typical. im not being conned

ive been giving thigs away like no tomorrow on freecycle here tv,s fires, bags of samuels clothes. its a great way of getting rid of unwanted things or grown out of clothes.
had samuel weighed and hes 19lb so quite happy there, there supposed to triple there birth weight by a year and he nearly has and is 1 in a couple of weeks.
his poor teeth are giving him some pain here hes got 11 or 12 at the moment
but has 4 new ones just about to pop through now,
he will have 16 teeth by his 1st birthday quite amazing really, most peoples babies dont have any that i know of or just 1 or 2 but hes got a mouthfull.

bebejones · 20/06/2009 12:34

SK - Poor B, sounds nasty poor little thing

Disney - Wow, can't believe Sam has all those teeth! P just about has all 4 front ones, but not all the way out yet! Think the sharp fang type ones are coming down though as she is grumpy as hell & her gums look red raw!

I'm having another crap day! DH's card to our joint account has been cloned & they have pretty much cleaned it out (wasn't alot in there TBH but is the food account!) bank have extended the overdraft so cheques we wrote won't bounce but have frozen all cards & the account while they do a fraud investigation & we won't get the money back for 2-4weeks! On the bright side new washing machine arrived at 8am! Turns out that the old one had a massive chunk of packaging left in it blocking a vent & (as I had long suspected) it had been plumbed into the hot tap!! So moral of the story, don't let the grumpy man from Argos plumb in your new washing machine!!!!

Poledra · 20/06/2009 16:36

I'll warn you now - this is going to be a moany complaining sort of post, so you might want to skip over it!

DD2's chicken pox is clearing up but she's had a hard time with it - having this dreadful cold on top of it really hasn't helped her. I've been quite poorly with it, which hasn't helped, as my patience is at a lower ebb. DH has this 'thing' where he always tries to tell me how I feel and where I am with an illness, as he has always had it first and worst, of course. However, I think he might just be conceding that he's not that bad as I have just coughed myself into vomiting.

He also departed to sleep on the sofa on Wed night/Thurs morning as O and I were keeping him awake (O has escaped the chicken pox but does have this horrible cold and cough). So I got 3 hours sleep. Then Thurs night, he manages to get on the wrong train so instead of taking 12 minutes to get to our village, he's stuck on the fast train going to the city 45 minutes away the fuckwit. He swears it was signed as his train.

Anyway, so I had to do all the teas, baths and beds by myself - joy. My two older DDs, though, are getting better - when you explain that mummy is not well and very tired, their behaviour does tend to improve. They thought it was quite funny as I got ready for bed with them, and all 3 got into bed with me for stories. DH finally got home at 21:30.

And now, we have discovered that there is a leak in the utility room and it's not even our pipe that is leaking. We have quite an old house (>300 years) and for some bizarre reason, next door's supply goes through our house and it is their supply which is leaking. And it's not the first time this has happened, though last time it was under the livingroom floor. I know it's not their fault (how can they know that a solder joint has burst in our house?) but it makes me unreasonably mad.

Sorry for the me me me post. Belated Happy birthday to Abbie, Poppy, Charlie (if you're lurking, Peanut) and anyone else I've missed. Hope all the poorly folks are feeling better soon, Bethany and bebejones, and bebe's cat.

Hope you're all having a better weekend than me

Isaidno · 20/06/2009 20:30

poor you poledra x That's shitty about next doors pipes.

Re teething - has anyone got an amber teething necklace? I have 4 friends who swear by them so I bought one on ebay today. The amber releases anti imflammatory oils onto the skin and soothes the pain. Google them - there are loads on the web. They cost about £12. They also look cool and groovy! Make sure you get one with smooth stones and a screw clasp for safety.

bebejones · 20/06/2009 20:34

Poledra - that sounds utterly miserable poor you and your DD! I understand the plumbing thing completely our house is old too (about 150 yrs) and our next door neighbour & us sort of share supply. When they were having plumbing done in extension they turned the water off...which in turn turned our water off...P was 4 weeks old at the time!! I was NOT impressed! I hope your DH was suitably apologetic and grovely when he got home?!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends, ours is continuing to be miserable although DH is looking forward to his first father's day!!

disneystar1 · 21/06/2009 08:36

hi all

yes bebe fathers day its a first for many isnt it,
yes samuels teeth are really hurting him now he woudnt settle last night was in pain and moaning BUT i had a plan
i have a mesh feeder which is brilliant as i fill it up with eg apple pop in in the freeser(sorry for spelling my button is missing on my laptop)
and he chews and chews and you can see the relief on his face.

poledra what a crap time its been hun. you know i often get my pjs on and get into bed at the dc,s bedtime then stories and snuggles when alans away working .and the pipe just tops it all doesnt it, and when things are low something trivial makes it seems worse....hope things improve soon.x
actually i dont count a leaking pipe trivial that would so stress me out.

well ladies im amased (damn missing button can you guess which is missing lol)
at samuel he has made an remarkable improvement in moving.
he sits up ok assisted but is rocking back and forth like he wants to move actually getting frustrated as he knows what he wants but his body lets him down.
im going to try to take a vid and pop in on fb.i said try im hopeless at techy things

we got a lovely new patio set and 6 chairs so going eat dinner outside today im cooking the sunday lunch while my dh take the boys to see transformers...im not taking samuel after last time he was a real naughty monkey.

hope you all have a lovely day and the suns shines on all and if i dont hurry up il be late for church....

JODIEwantsanewname · 21/06/2009 08:44

Hi all, Happy Fathers Day!! (Well to your DH/DP's!)

Well done Sam he really is defying the odds isn't he Disney you must be very proud!

Sam took 2 steps this morning!!!!! I really want him to walk (I know you can't hurry these things) but when we go camping, it's much easier to let him walk on wet grass than crawl! I think I need to go and buy him some shoes (another small fortune!)

Poledra Poor you, sending you big (unmumsnet type) hugs!!!!

Morning everyone else hope you are all OK!!!

Wishing all the June babies happy birthday!

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 21/06/2009 21:26

Happy Fathers Day everyone, hope those Dads were spoiled today, DP got treated to lunch at Pizza Express

Bethany is still all bunged up and snotty and coughing poor baby, I have a Karvol plug-in in with her tonight see if it makes any difference, nights are so bad she coughs wakes up then cannot get back to sleep again and gets frustrated.

On the plus side she is pulling herself up on everything now, strange as she only started pulling herself up last weekend now it's all the time and she's moving round the sofa, it is amazing isn't it, I love the way she puts her hands out for you to hold her up now, very cute, she even walking with her walker now.

Jodie - well done Sam, 2 steps will be 3 tomorrow and will be across the room by the weekend then there will be no stopping him

disney - well done to you Sam as well, he's such a wee character

poledra - poor you, chicken pox, colds and leaks no wonder you are feeling rough and down amd men eh???

bebe - how's the cat now? when is her getting allowed home?

disneystar1 · 22/06/2009 19:11

pigleychez · 22/06/2009 20:34

Hello everyone.

Had a busy weekend here.. had friends round Sat night which was fun.
We played Guitar hero world tour with the drums and all that. Abigail enjoyed dancing along to the music! Then howled along to singstar. They all stayed over and we didnt get to bed till 1am when Abigail stirred and was wide awake till 2.30! Then Typically shes decides to wake for the morning at 6am. Yawn!!! Trying to keep her quiet in our room so not to wake the others was a mission!

Sunday was spent visiting the Daddies. DH enjoyed his first Fathers day and Abigail cant keep her hands off her card we bought for him!

Well Bad mummy here... Abigail fell off the bed this morning She was ok, it scared her more than anything. Whilst having a cuddle she pointed to the book she had been reading on the bed then pointed at the floor as if to show me what happened..bless her. ( I was there with her and saw her fall- Just couldnt grab her in time)

Jodie- Well done on the steps! I cant believe how quickly these little people are growing! Abigail too is soo close to some steps.

Hope everyones ok and healthy

libralady · 22/06/2009 20:45

Hi all.

Have been busy busy busy but have the day off work tomorrow to celebrate Luke's first birthday. Where has that year gone?
We're taking him out for an Italian meal tomorrow night to celebrate as we're being bad parents and am going to place him in his playpen in the garden whilst we get on and build our conservatory which is going to be a playroom for the boys when it's finished. DH has taken the week off work and has already done the footings and brick work. Going to start erecting the frame tomorrow, so hopefully it will be in situ for the first of Luke's parties this weekend.

Disney I am so in awe of you and I think of you and Sam everyday.

Hi to everyone else. I do lurk but don;t post very often as to be honest I don't often have the time.

bebejones · 22/06/2009 20:51

Evening all! Busy weekend here too running around fixing stuff that kept going wrong!!

SK - Cat is home but he has to stay in a cage in the dining room for 6 weeks & go to vets every week to have his cast changed! He is so miserable I feel really bad for him!

Been taking a leaf out of Pigley's book & done some baking today! Cheesy flapjack (recipe on MN), it is SO yummy, but I struggled grating the carrot with my stupid still numb fingers! P really likes it so at least I did something right for her today! She has been misery personified today. Must be teeth playing up....she has winged and moaned & grizzled about everything & had some proper girly tantrums today. She can be quite a little madam when she wants to & she has a hideous temper I told her off for smacking the TV & so she screamed and started headbutting it!!!! Then threw herself on the floor and howled for 15mins after I told her off again!

P really makes us laugh when she does her steps she gets all excited & ahead of herself and usually ends up falling over coz she has tried to do it too quickly! Usually results in her getting very cross & looking miffed that we are laughing! Think we have had about 5 good steps before falling over but still early days!

Must go try & do some bejeweled before bed!!! TTFN

pigleychez · 22/06/2009 21:37

Bebe- I am sooo with you on the Tantrums! Abigail does the same Headbutting thing then crys as it hurt!

Might have to try those Flapjacks then if they are good. I tried out a new recipe the other night that went down very well with Abigail and DH -Mango Chicken curry.

Libra- Happy birthday to Luke for tomrrow!
Enjoy your meal out and the new conservatory sound lovely! I do miss the conservatory we had in the old house.

Rumpel · 23/06/2009 11:14

Hi all - just a quickie.

Belated bday wishes to Poppy and HB to Luke!

Must go as pal arriving for picnic with DCs in garden. Hope everyone is well and things are imrpoving for those of you having house/child/health woes.

Try to fill you in tomorrow.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Squishy cuddles to all the bubbas and a big squishy one for SAM!

bebejones · 23/06/2009 20:29

Happy Birthday to Luke!!

How hot is it?!?!?! I am ROASTING! Poor P is in just her sleeping bag as her room is 24degrees. She won't settle not in it when I tried to put her down for a nap earlier in just her clothes she actually managed to climb out of the cot!!! We heard a loud bang followed by a scream and went in to find her crawling mid sobs accross the nursery!!! Think the cot will be going all the way down to the bottom position pronto!!

Pigley - mango chicken curry sound really nice!

Anyone know a fool proof sponge recipe? I'm really good at chocolate sponge or lemon sponge but normal sponge cake either tastes eggy or is really dry when I make it! Need a good one for P's birthday cake as I want to give it a trial run!

pigleychez · 23/06/2009 21:10

Bebe- This recipe throws up a nice sponge. Its the best one out the ones I road tested for Abigails cake and the recipe ill be using.

The Mango chicken curry is soooo easy to make:
Tub of Creme fraiche.
1/2 Jar Sharwards Mango chutney
Chicken breast cut into chunks

Put the chopped chicken breasts (raw) into a casserole dish, pour in the chutney and creme fraiche and stir until well mixed. Put in the oven at 180 and cook for 40 mins.
Serve with rice

Easy peasy

Just put together a new wardrobe that was delivered today, so now for a bit of sofa time
