Hello all.

Spent this afternoon painting the lounge. Fab Dh occupied Abigial, bathed her and put her to bed whilst I cracked on.

Had Chinese for dinner tonight. Abigail usually has something else with a few prawn crackers which she loves. Tonight she was reaching out for our chinese so we offered her some. She couldnt get enough of the beanshoots and chinese pork! She was sucking up the beanshoots like a baby bird eating worms... very cute!

Had an awful night with her last night.. she was so unsettled, we were up about 6 times last night [yawn]

Red- 3 infections! Poor guy!

Disney- Hows your sons finger now?

sweetkitty · 06/06/2009 21:42

Wrote a big message and it's not posted it I have been offline for a few days it was the monitor that was faulty.

Will catch up properly soon x

Rumpel · 06/06/2009 21:45

Hiya everyone,

Been very busy here too - applying for pt work at the mo'. opefully somat will come along soon - what's for us won't o by us and all that.

BEBE - Calvin drinks about 4/5 bottles of 8ozs a day - sometimes more and he has water at mealtimes too.

DISNEY hope all your brood are getting better - love n hugs to wee Sam.

JODIE - started the BS parties yet? Your weekend sounds fab - Bath looks fab did you visit the Roman baths?

Minnie - hope new job comes up for you soon.

RED - has Louis settled down?

SK - how are you feeling these days?

Hi to everyone else hope all the bubbas are well.

Calvin is desperate to stand - he can stand up holding on (for balance) but is bum shuffling not crawling. Got him a wee baby walker push along thing the other day but as usual his big sis keeps running off with it!
Not doing much for his birthday as yet.
Peanut's Charlie was first, then Twinkle I think with Connor and Calum (?) Then Tjuice with Elodie.

I am off to Airth Castle tommorow for my long awaited Anniversary/having Calvin/Valentine gift - tea coffee on arrival, then a mini-facial, a wee rest then a nail shape and polish, a swim etc, then a full body massage, dinner, wine and a sleep followed by brekkie ALL ON MY OWN - YIPPEE!!!!!I am so so so so so looking forward to it - one of the things I find hardest about being a parent is never having any time on my own anymore.

www.airthcastlehotel.com/

Take care all hugs and big squishy cuddles to the bubbas.xxx

libralady · 06/06/2009 21:50

Hi all. Have had a shit day here today. Ended up in A&E with Luke this evening.
Went to cricket this afternoon and during the break was in the clubhouse talking to some of the lads. DS1 decided he was going to take Luke for a push in his buggy. I told him not to and carried on talking with the guys. The next thing DS1 came in screaming and crying that he'd hurt 'little man' .
Ran outside and the buggy was turned over with Luke still in it. Got it upright and there was blood pouring out of his mouth.
My initial reaction was to shout at DS1 for disobeying me, and the poor little lad was totally distraught anyway. I think I was more angry at myself though for taking my eyes off of them.
Anyhow DH & I rushed him to A&E. He was really groggy on the way down and after a 4 hour wait we got seen . He's fine, no loose teeth, just a few cuts inside his mouth and a graze down his chin.
I am so relieved, but can't stop beating myself up about it and I'm in tears as to what could've happened.
I have apologised to DS1 for shouting at him, but the amount of times I've told him not to do something and then he goes and does it anyway is really getting to me.
I have tried to explain that we tell him NOT to do things for a reason and have tried today to reiterate the reason I told him not to take Luke outside was for the very same reasons as the accident that did indeed happen. I know he's only 5, but he is very intelligent and know right from wrong BUT he is so wilful at times it depresses me

Rumpel · 06/06/2009 22:01

Poor LIBRA - hey it's hard not to beat yourself up but we can't be there 24/7 and stuff happens. He's just pushing his boundaries - he'll never do it again though. Remember we learn by our mistakes - tough to watch but thankfully Luke is okay. My DD is the same at the mo' she 2 and half and really pushing it just now. I feel guilty for shouting at her too but I am only human and get pissed off - I always apologis afterwards and let's face it we can only do ur best- we're not perfect! Kisses to Luke and reassuring hugs to your DS1 and a big forgiving your a great Mammy hug to you
(XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX)

ponto · 06/06/2009 23:04

Libralady, poor you, sounds like you're feeling much worse than Luke ever was, don't beat yourself up about it. I never know if it helps to tell stories of competing awfulness, but when Bryony was just a couple of weeks old, dh was taking her out in the buggy, looped the dog's lead over the handle and came back into the house for something. Dd1 then rushed in to say that the dog had turned the buggy over - fortunately Bryony wasn't hurt. These sort of things happen to us all, it doesn't make us bad parents - they are accidents after all, it's not as if we're deliberately turning buggies over!

Rumpel, have a fab time on your pamper day (rather than a Pampers day!) I am very .

Anyone got any ideas how to celebrate a 10th wedding anniversary, without spending too much or staying away overnight? My friend's dh is taking her away to a hotel for the weekend with no children, so I am now feeling that getting a babysitter and walking to the local pub for a meal (which we had planned to do) is a bit tame!

SK, hope to hear a bit more from you soon.

Poledra · 06/06/2009 23:45

libralady, just on my way to bed but wanted to say that we have exactly the same problem with 5-yo DD1. I don't know how may times I have to tell her not to try to pick O up, or to move her. No matter how intelligent they are, they just can't see the possible consequences the way adults can. Don't be hard on yourself (or DS1) - it was an accident, and they will happen no matter how hard we try.

I also keep asking the two older DDs why I have to shout before they do what I ask. I start off asking in a normal tone, moving gradually up to stricter but generally I end up yelling before they listen . I never wanted to be a shouty mummy.....

disneystar1 · 07/06/2009 09:32

libra glad everything is ok dont worry twas just an accident and they happen everyday to someone thats what A+ E tell me......

like my ds4 ive said AJ dont slam the door thousands of times and now he doesnt 1 finger less child he is...

im sure the biggest emotion we suffer as parents is guilt, guilt weve done it wrong guilt we could of stopped it guilty for shouting.snapping....rumpel you are so right honey were just doing our best and are only human and parenting is a tough job.

SK were all missing your posts here....hope you and your girls are well and ok...

well samuel finally kinda goes through the night 2 nights ago did 10pm -9am
last night 9.30pm - 9am with 1 wake up only
now this is the only 2 times in 10 mths ive had a proper sleep....
then my 5yr old kept waking up saying his bum itched.....
taking the boys karting today were going to the cinema but i think we need a bit of fun there is a laser tag there as well and i could do with some healthy competetive laughter....even though i smile its hard and i often have tears there mixed in.
like now when im just looking at my darling boy in his chair....
got to take a deep breath and go get the breakfast
have a good day y,all...

bebejones · 07/06/2009 20:42

Libra - poor Luke, glad he was ok though!

Just a quick post as I am waiting for P to stop screaming and fall asleep! May have to go in any second if she gets too hysterical. We seem to have had massive advances the last few days. Sometimes I wish time would slow down a bit so that she doesn't grow up so fast! She has started imitating her Grandad making 'Ha Ha Haaaaa' sounds back to him when he does it, very cute! Also if you say cough (even in conversation to someone else) she does a 'fake' cough, if you say 'Phoebe do you have a poorly cough' she smiles & coughs at you! Very funny, it's usually accompanied with much giggling & hand clapping! Today she has even started trying to take steps not holding on! She is still very wobbly with the walker so this has been a massive surprise even though she can go up stairs & cruise the furniture! She stands up & lets go and usually gets 2 or 3 quick steps in before falling!

Does anyone else have a baby who constantly grinds their teeth? P does it all the time now she has one top and botttom, the noise goes right through me! Don't know how to stop her but I don't want her to damage her teeth.

She is still crying so I best go make sure she is ok. Usually she drops off after a minute or so!! Hope everyone is ok. Sorry for the self indulgent post!

pigleychez · 07/06/2009 22:18

SK- Good to see you back

Rumpel- Hope you enjoyed your trip! Sounds Lush!

Libra-Poor little Luke. Hope his mouth is on the mend
Im sure the shock will stop DS doing that again. Dont worry about shouting at him, its a natural reaction.

Disney- Yay for Samuels good nights. Abigail unfortunately has had 2 crap nights!

Bebe- Bless P!
Abigail does the fake cough too.. the more you mention it the more she does it! She too copies you when you laugh.. its so sweet isnt it!
Well done on the standing too No advice on the teeth grinding as we still have none here

Well another busy day here,Putting up shelves in the lounge. Feels more like my house now my bits are up Afternoon spent in the garden finishing the fence panels. I then dug out a flower bed and planted a few plants. This evening I made Abigail some sugar free Apple biscuits so see what she makes of them tomorrow.

Poledra · 07/06/2009 23:07

bebe, don;t worry about the teeth-grinding. I can't remember where I read it, but it;s a normal thing for LOs to do. DD1 was terrible for it, and I fretted that she was damaging her teeth as it sounds painful but she has perfect teeth (those which haven't fallen out yet ).

bebejones · 08/06/2009 13:59

Tooth number 4 has appeared overnight, maybe that's why she has been grinding away like mad?! It's the most horrible noise, like nails on a chalkboard!

Busy bee today packing for going to my mums 2moro. She is having an op so P & me are going to stay for a week (well 8 days actually). Please don't talk too much without me!!! Will try and get online when I can!

sweetkitty · 08/06/2009 14:57

hi ladies I did miss you all nothing much to report here, Bethany still a fiesty madam, wanting to "walk" all the time, then not wanting your hands and falling over. Food is better now, still has her chip siren but is eating more of everything else now, loves her fruit. What else? erm sleep a disaster still, we are going down the same route as for DD2, she is going into her own room (sob) and cot at a year and Daddy will stay with her so Mummy and her boobs are nowhere to be seen. Trying to break the wake/Mummy/comfort boob thing, took DD2 two nights so fingers crossed B is the same.

bebe - have a nice time at your mums, we will miss you and congrats Miss P on tooth number 4

pigley - you make me tired with all your activities, home made apple biscuits, poor B she gets a Jammie Dodger (bad bad Mummy) now and again.

Disney - we are fine thanks, sounds like a very busy house too, Samuel will just adore watching all the chaos

libralady - aww poor Luke but as the others have said don#t beat yourself up about it, I think it's part and parcel of having children especially second borns. I don't know how many times DD2 falls on top of B no matter how many times I shout "watch your wee sister" at her. B's latest thing is to crawl under the DDs bunks and get stuck the other 2 pull her out by the legs and she goes straight back under

Rumpel - hello to you too, enjoy your pampering day, I know what you mean about time alone, non existent here too although we did have a rare treat yesterday, got to the cinema to see Star Trek, SIL baby sat.

Is anyone else feeling a little bit sad that it's almost July and wanting time to slow down just a bit?

Right am off to put some pics on FB

disneystar1 · 08/06/2009 21:01

bebe congrats to p

samuel has tooth number 11 now it poked through earlier on bebe he was grinding too.

SK i had to laugh at b going under the bed and being pulled out, she gets everywhere doesnt she

SK me for one would love it to slow down but i know what you mean its flew by hasnt it.
this time last year we were either counting down or getting so excited that one of us had already gave birth. i saw b with her jammie dodger in your pic.....looked like she was happy and enjoying it and isnt she like her sisters. your dd2 has the cheekiest smile ever

sadly my dh is going back to working away all week starting next week for a few reasons.
financially were struggling a bit.
also its killing him working a 12 /13 hour day hes up at 4am and comes home approx 6/7pm then wants to help me and play with samuel.....hes been getting chest pains again which isnt good, its better for him (though not me) to work away not so much stress less hours (he can drag his day out more as he doesnt have a 4 hr drive home) so more pay plus he gets £20 a night cash in hand for doing it. he wants to stay with us and samuel which i understand but i worry about him and i know i will be better for him to work away....im going to miss him so much though

anyway off to pack the 5 nightly packed lunches, i love the weekend when i dont have to i run out of ideas what to put in them.

sweetkitty · 08/06/2009 21:34

11 teeth wow Disney, I think number 5 and 6 are imminent here.

Thank you all for your lovely comments re: my new FB photos. The Jammie Dodger thing was when I had run out of her Organix biscuits and the others were having one and she was looking at them so I thought why not? The odd treat probably less sugar in them than a rusk anyways. Not a crumb gets dropped. Yes DD2 has the cheekiest smile in the world, she is either one extreme or the other, very happy and lovely or like today I could have opened the car door and thrown her out 30 minute full blown top of her voice screaming tantrum.

Disney - poor DH having to work away but at least he will get more rest and more money, always try to think of a positive with these things you have got to to keep you sane.

pigleychez · 08/06/2009 21:34

Blimey all these bubbas with teeth! Think Abigails destined to be a gummy bear!

Bebe- Have a good time at your mums. Hope your mums ok.

SK- Im another one wanting time to slow down!
Abigailss the same with crawling under things... her latest thing id under the dining room table. She tries to stand up and bangs her head and sits their crying - Cue me crawling under the table after her
Love the holiday snaps. Looks like you all had fun
Re biscuits- Im sure Abigail would of prefered a Jamie dodger today as those biscuits tasted horrible!!

Disney- about you DH having to work away.

Abigail amazed me today by not having her afternoon nap. She happily stayed up from 11am till 8pm. Thats yonks for her! Plus never seen her scoff so much dinner-- She wolfed down the lasagne followed by a bowl of her fav strawberries. Fingers crossed she sleeps well tonight after waking at 5am this morning![yawn]

Anyone else watching the programme about sleep disorders?

sweetkitty · 08/06/2009 21:36

X-posts pigley

disneystar1 · 08/06/2009 22:17

pigley one of my brothers didnt get a tooth until 14mths old and there is something very appealing about having a gummy bear.... very cute
samuel has dropped his afternoon nap lateley only on the odd day and has gone through also had a huge appetite surge he had veggie lasagne today but still has to be mushed up as because of his cleft palate (his mucsles arent formed in the roof of his mouth)and he chokes.....and his passion is pineapple i guess its all i ate trying to go into labour....
also something huge here samuel can now have a bath him sitting in it , i have to hold him up but hes getting better and trying to balance hes so happy and ecstatic laughs the whole time

ponto · 08/06/2009 22:39

Bebe, congrats to Phoebe on being the first walker!

SK, lovely FB photos. Good job the Jammie Dodger photo is on there rather than on your profile here, or the MN food police would be after you! Bryony is a big fan of custard creams - very messy. And LOL at the image of Bethany being pulled out from under the bed!

Pigley, hope you get a lie-in tomorrow. Bryony has slept till 7 instead of 5.30 the last 2 nights, I feel so much better for it. She had to go to bed early tonight though as she was exhausted having only had one nap, in the morning, so she will probably wake early again tomorrow.

Disney, I don't know where you get the energy from for all those packed lunches, I only have to do one, for dd1, and I just can't be bothered tonight, she may have to end up with a quick jam sandwich made before I go to work tomorrow. Will put some fruit in to try to up the healthiness quotient!

JODIEwantsanewname · 09/06/2009 07:28

Morning all, might be a quick post, depends if children start playing up (always a hazard!!)

Wow all our babies are growing up dead quick! bebe wow Walking!! and she's the youngest too isn't she! Sam speeds up and down our downstairs (open plan) on his walker, and wants to walk in that back breaking style of holding my hands!!!

I can't believe in 3.5 weeks Sam will be one! Where does time go????

He's got 8 teeth, and has had since 6 months, I wish the next ones would appear as they are giving him some terrible problems

He now says Mama, Dada, Grandad, Hiya, Ta and yes (so cute when you call him and he answers you!!!! )

He eats like I've never fed him!!! Sounds like all of us!

pigley you do put us all to shame!!!! I just don't have the energy to do even 1/3 of what you do!! Can I hire you or something?

rumpel How are you? Hows your DD and her poo problem? (sorry to sound so crass! ) Any luck getting work? I've signed up to the Body Shop and I have my first party on Friday night, I've also got a job 2 nights a week in a pub, so we seem to be ticking over again now (phew emoticon) although I'm knackered by being out 3-4 noghts a week, it's much better than working full time and outting the boys on nursery all day every day. Oli still goes 1 full day at nursery and 1 9-3 at preschool, he just loves it!!! (and it means I get get stuff done at home!!!!)

What are you guys with more than one of the same sex getting your LO's for their birthday? I'm so stuck, Sam just has all Oli's old toys and clothes (although could do with some new clothes of his own!) but other than that we don't really need anything, so ideas would be useful!!!!!

OP posts:
bebejones · 09/06/2009 08:55

Just popping on quickly before I go on my merry way! I could walk at 10months so I'm sure that has some bearing on P being able to do it. She is 10months old today!

Pigley you do put us all to shame, you are the ulitimate SAHM!! Where do you find the time? I'm lucky if I manage to get a shower and dressed some days! And my DH is working from home!!!

Gave P Spaghetti in a creamy tomato sauce last night...she actually spat it out & screamed the house down!!! Not a fan apparently! Although she likes cheesy tuna pasta, which DH cant be in the same room as! Odd child!

Will try and pop on when I am away, mum only has dial up & it is SOOOOOOOOOO slow I get impatienet!

mama2leah · 09/06/2009 11:04

disneystar1 · 09/06/2009 11:49

M2L i have thought of you often lately and wow 32 weeks im so .... you lucky lady you. i want another baby but i dont think i have the strength anymore with samuel and things. sad but true.....my final decision rests in august though so we shall see

ponto i have to do 5 every night 4 ds,s 1 dh and now my 17ry old is at work 3 days a week and i do his too....dh says i spoil them all as they contain s.wiches or pittas fruit, home made scones or cake, cubes of cheese and pepper/cucumber....plus whatever fruit is in season in my garden for snacks. towards friday things get leaner as supplies run low....

bebe did i miss a post is p walking.....omg what a clever little girl and shes the baby of the group isnt she.

TheRedSalamander · 09/06/2009 13:38

hey all

Wow Bebe a walker already! Well done phoebe 

Piggles you are my ubermum of the year. You sound so organised and capable, I am neither and so am a bit in awe of you ;)

Disney- sad for you that your dh has to work away, hopefully it won?t be indefinitely? Do you think there might come a time when he can work locally a bit more?

Jodie, re: bdays- we are in the same position, Louis doesn?t ?need? anything because he has all Toby?s things! (Which Toby still thinks are his even though he can?t remember having them in the first place, so plays with all the baby toys too now) We?ve been delaying decorating their bedrooms as thought we could be moving but as house isn?t selling  (even though we think it?s lovely!) so we?re going to plough on with it- will probably get L a nice clock/wall hanging as a keepsake- something to go in his newly decorated room either way.

No teeth here yet either, ds1 was 15 months before his first one so not too concerned! He was talking before he had a tooth . Only got his last molar at 3.5 too, so very late all the way through. When one finally did emerge it completely changed how he looked though- and I was a bit sad! (silly moo)

m2l- 32 weeks already? Oh my?that has gone past so fast! Sounds like you?re doing really well coping with being preggers and having a baby to look after.

Well I am work at the moment, nowt really to do as the person who?s been looking after my work areas whilst I was away is preparing some hand over material for me at the mo. How awful, surfing the web and drinking coffee without a small person squeaking! Knew coming back to work was a good idea ;) Do miss my little chap though, he?s such a cutie at the mo. (Plus slept through until 5am this morning which is utterly unheard of so he?s right in my good books lol)

Thinking of you all even if I haven't said hello x

pigleychez · 09/06/2009 21:07

Hello all,

Disney- Yay for Samuel sitting up baths! I bet he loves it!

Ponto- Kind of a lay in this morning.. Abigail woke at 5 again today. DH got up to her but the next thing i knew it was 6.30! Bless DH had taken her downstairs and played with her so I could sleep abit more.

Jodie- Abigail says yes too but its more like fast Yisssss.. With the emphasis on the s! very sweet.

Im in NO way some kinda Supermum! I hardly did anything today. Baby club in the morning and just boring old housework in the afternoon.
I did manage to do some more Arty pics of Abigail which I will put on FB soon.

M2L- Cant believe how quickly that time has gone! Enjoy your time at your mums.

Red - about the house not selling.
