Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pigleychez · 22/05/2009 21:36

Well it seems the baby nurofen is just as bad

Not convinced it is teething now as the red cheeks went pretty quickly and she spent the afternoon laying on my lap either watching tv, staring out the window or dozing. Really not like her at all
Shes had about 4.5 hours sleep during the day today!

Shes hardly drank any milk tonight and is quite unsettled. Her temp earlier was 39.1 so will monitor her during the night and hope it doesnt creep up any more Hate seeing her so poorly.

Disney- It sounds like you have a busy weekend planned!

sweetkitty · 22/05/2009 22:55

hi ladies I am back and trying to catch up, holiday was great, yes Disney was centerparcs Whinfell, the girls had a ball, Bethany went swimming for the first time and loved it. She is wanting to be up and "walking" with your fingers all the time now. Sleeping has been non existent as usual though. She only wants finger foods these days and is really funny if she picks up things she doesn't like she throws it overboard in disgust, what a madam.

disney - so so sorry to head Samuel's prognosis, poor wee man but hey as everyone says that boy is a fighter as is his Mum

pigley - poor wee Abigail hope she has a good night and is better tomorrow x

bebe - about your walker, B loves hers, she has the noisy V-tech one and the ELC wooden one with the bricks, snack wise B has the same as P, toast, yoghurt, raisins, banana, apple, grapes and the odd jammy dodger

Tjuice - lovely to hear from you, I could do with that bike to cart all mine around in

Rumpel - thanks for that, me being me and an anal scientist researched all about cilatopram and BFing before taking it and the only contra-indications I could find were in preterm and newborn babies that it could make them sleepy and unable to feed, when I started taking it B was a big healthy 8 months and weaning too, we have actually dropped a feed by accident as well so down to 3 during the day and about 13 at night thank you for thinking of me x

bebejones · 23/05/2009 09:40

Pigley - hope A is a bit better today. P's cheeks flare up bright red & then go just as quickly when she is teething. Fingers crossed for you that that is all it is & that she isn't poorly. P is very snuffly today as am I so think we must have a bug coming here, hoping it will be something & nothing!

SK - glad you had a good time away! My mum has ordered us a new walker to be delivered this week. Taking the other one back was a nightmare so decided not to exchange it but just get money back!

P had some mashed banana with some ella's kitchen banana & apple puree to make it sloppy for her breakfast & half a wholemeal english muffin. She doesn't like white bread, unless it has garlic butter on it!!

Must go make the most of the nice weather & do some gardening!

Momma23 · 23/05/2009 11:02

Pigley
How is A doing today? Horrible when there ill and all you can do is watch. Hope she gets better soon.

Bebe
Great news on the flat front. That extra money will come in handy. It seems like all we ever do these days is give money away! Spent nearly 300 on food shopping this week alone!!!! Never that high normaly just one of those weeks...

On food i am running out of ideas, like bebe L would have brown bread all day!!! Puree dinners are getting boring for her.

Raining here its so horrible looking out! DD 1 & 2 acting up god i hate days like this !!!

pigleychez · 23/05/2009 20:22

SK- Glad you all had a fab holiday Any pics?
Abigail loves swimming too.

Well Abigail has Hand, foot and mouth!- Nothing to do with Cows I must add!! Thats foot and mouth!

Last night she was pretty unsettled. When she woke at 1 she needed a complete change of vest and bed sheets as she was soaking wet from sweat.. the poor thing was boiling! Was getting concerned but we managed to get some calpol down her by tricking her. We put some in a bottle and she sucked it down. She came into bed with us then so I could keep an eye on her and she slept till 6.30.
Woke up fine and without a temp. As the morning progressed the temp returned and wasnt till later whilst looking for signs of teeth I noticed she has a mouth full of ulcers
She now has spotty hands, genitals, hands and mouth.

Anyway shes a bit happier in herself and has been playing with her toys which is def an improvement just gets upset at her mouth hurting. Eating and drinking is also abit painful so all in all not very fun. Bless her. No antibotics as its a viral thing and just has to run its course which is usually 7- 10 days.
High infectious to children under 10 so no babyclub for us this week and staying in.

Apart from that been busy in the garden. Watching DH walk into a decking plank and bang his head. He now has a huge red mark above his eye and a headache! My poorly family!!

bebejones · 23/05/2009 20:42

Pigley - poor Abigail Sounds horrid! But at least you know what it is now and can treat it accordingly. Trouble is babies seem to get a high temperature with most things & they can't tell you which bit is hurting! Phoebe is a hot & snotty mess today (as am I) but is only a cold so not anywhere near as poorly as poor A. Hope she gets better soon.

P is sleeping now so am going to go and make the most of this quiet time and play bejewelled blitz spend it with DH!

sweetkitty · 24/05/2009 06:46

Morning ladies still very snotty in this house I couldn't sleep for coughing hence I am up at this time. Going to paint my kitchen later, boring cream but it should freshen it up.

Pigley - poor Abigail are you doing the nurofen/Calpol double dosing thing? Do they give you a syringe type thing with the Nurofen? Either that ask the chemist for a 5ml syringe and shoot the Calpol into her mouth, not nice I know but sometimes these babies don't know what is best for them. I always use own brand Calpol these days and own brand medicines as they contain the exact same ingredients at about half the price. Will try and upload some photos later.

Bethany is the same purees are out now completely, last night for dinner I gave her sweet potato chunks, carrot batons, sweetcorn, a few chips and the fish from a fishfinger (took the batter off) she ate really well judging my the lack of floor debris afterwards. Her nickname here is Scuzzbucket or Scuzzybaby as she is the messiest little thing ever, I went and bought one of those all over bib things yesterday as she pulls ordinary bibs off and I cannot get the stains out her clothes, she is never clean.

Anyone thinking about First Birthday's yet? We are getting Bethany this trike think that will be about it though as she really does not need any toys, it is crazy how many baby toys we have in this house, she has 2 baskets downstairs then a huge Ikea storage system full of Little People/cuddly toys/baby toys/two walkers/3 ride ons/Smart coupe cars. Suppose it comes from having 2 big sisters. The thing is relatives will want to buy her toys too think I will ask them for money or clothes vouchers.

Don't know what to do about parties either as DP's birthday is on the 14th, Bethany's 1st is the 15th and Abbie's 5th the 20th.

Sorry I am away waffling am going to go put some washing out still trying to catch up from the holiday.

disneystar1 · 24/05/2009 09:17

Pigley poor little abigail it sounds terrible and her poor mouth, isnt it strange though we as parents just know its not teething and something else, good mummy instincs there....

sk sounds like y,all had a great time and bethany sounds adorable and very much in control and knows what she wants.....(girl power eh!!!!) and that trike looks really good you have give me an idea for samuel now.

bebe how are you doing hun? my ms has had a major relapse but my specialist said shock can be a factor i had a bad fall the other day my legs just buckled underneath me im bruised terrible and couldnt get up for 20 mins.... im looking to buy a scooter now as im getting a bit housebound and i dont want to go down that route. exercise/swimming is good light exercise to a dvd is good (and fun p can join in) we have a great ms centre just down the A38 near kfc do you know it?

having a lazy day here this morning samuels like daddys bacon sandwich he loves the bread with the fat and sauce on not really healthy but hes happy so im good with that.

clearing my bedroom out today everything ive had my new ensuite shower fixed its a walk in as i cant get in the bath anymore. ordered a new cream shagpile carpet, painting it a light toffee cream it will look lovely when done in approx 4 weeks.

im just going to sit on the decking under the pergola knitting danny jumper its nearly done and when its finished im making samuel a patchwork blanket which all of us are going to make for him to take with him into hospital
have a good day everyone

bebejones · 24/05/2009 09:49

Disney - I know the kfc!! I had seen the sign for the MS centre too of course! I have been doing lots of playing on the Wii & P loves to watch that! I think my main problem now is that emotionally I just feel pants about the whole thing. I still have some numbness in my fingers so it is a constant reminder. They have said that in 10-20 years I have a 90% possibility of an episode that I won't recover from that will get worse & worse over time. Specialist just said 'don't worry thats 10-20 years away', I'm only 26 and I have a 9 month old baby FFS! Made me really . Must be so hard for you having to deal with that on top of everything else. You are such an amazing lady. I was told that stress can aggrivate MS, so we must both try and stay chilled not easy though is it?!

Pigley - Hope A is feeling a little better today. Poor little thing must be miserable for her

I must go & be sociable with my DH & P, even though the stinking cold is making me feel like death!!

disneystar1 · 24/05/2009 21:31

bebe it is hard when they say dont worry thats 10-20 years time, BUT please remember you are only 26 your ms is good right now yes i know how emotionally draining it is
what im trying to say is please dont waste all the long long good years you have being in this ok period, worry and cry when when your in a bad place ok, time is so special and important 10-20 years man that is a long time yes it will come we cant stop that but its not here yet...be happy sweetie enjoy your lovely family, and on a much happier note and even a funny one my dh has been trying to beat your score on bejeweled on FB hes been trying for 3 days and just done it
little things make him happy....lol

had my wonderfull little gd today was very odd feeding them together and changing nappies twice and they even napped together,
i was quite sad to see her go...always next weekend though....

it was very very hot here today and nearing 90 in my greenhouse
we were going to take the dc,s out tomorrow but i dont feel up to it i cant walk far right now and i tire so easily said to dh im going to be ready for the knackers yard soon.

how is A pigley? shes been on my mind today.

hope everyone is having lovely weather and will catch up soon x

pigleychez · 24/05/2009 22:13

Hello all,

SK- Im sad to say the syringe and pinning her down is what we have been resorting to. I know its for her own good.

Re first birthdays- I too have looked at that trike. I did actually suggest it to DH for a present idea. Great minds
I bought her a little rag doll (1st dolly) in M&S the other day for her birthday. She spotted it and beamed so guessing shes going to like it!

Bebe- Dont feel down I understand its alot to get your head around and cant help thinking of the future, but its best to think of the heere and now... Soooo Much can happen between then and now.

Thanks for thinking of Abigail. Thankfully her temperature is starting to regulate and needing less calpol which saves the fights!
She has come out in even more spots today and looks awful bless her!
Her toungue is quite swollen so shes been sticking it out for most of the day causing her to drool like crazy! Looks like a big sloppy dog!
Shes been finding it hard to swallow her food too. She crunches it up but just spits it out again as it hurts. She really wants to eat it too
Thankfully shes been in quite good spirits too all things considered

Plus what a fab sunny day Fingers crossed for more of the same tomorrow!

disneystar1 · 25/05/2009 09:20

pigley its monday morning early here and hes just woke up and hes on the laptop trying to beat your score its so funny like hes on a mission or something
glad to hear A is on the mend i hate to know of a poorly baby....
looking like a big sloppy dog....bless her she,l find out youve said that

my dh is putting in my last vegetable bed today its a raised one so i dont have to kneel down, then its all ready for my chilli,s and peppers an cucumbers.

and for the afternoon we are all going to see night at the museum 2 samuel in his carseat i always time in so hes tired and he always sleeps right through the movie....

all the boys are on my bed while im typing watching spongebob ....theres only so much you can take of that so going down for breakfast now....

JODIEwantsanewname · 25/05/2009 21:02

Pigley hope A feels better soon, I have a medicine hater here too, it's such a hassle giving him anything!!

SK Glad you enjoyed your holiday

Disney Hope Sam feels OK and I think that if anyone deserves the holiday you do, you give up so much for your family, it would be really nice to treat them all to something special that they will remember forever. (not that you don't do enough with them anyway!! )

Hello everyone else. Hope you are all OK

I didn't get the full time job I went for, which I am quite relieved about really, am still skint, but have signed up to do the Body Shop from home, so hopefully I'll get some orders for that and get some party bookings, I've also started work in a local pub a couple of nights a week, so all is not lost.

Sam has been really off colour recently, for just over a week now he's been waking up in the night and being really hard to settle, finally getting up for the day at 4.30/5.30, I'm so tired, It basically started with a viral infection, where g=he was covered in a rash (and I mean covered, from head to toe ) but he wasn't really poorly, no temp etc, just grumpy, that was last Thursday, and he hasn't really settled since then, really nasty nappies in the night, loads of gas, I just don't know what to do, other than ride it out, but we are going camping this weekend and I'm so nervous that he's going to wake up the whole campsoite at 2am

Right, enough warbling, I;m off to watch Britains Got Talent as that Shaun Smith is a local lad, so girlies, vote for him if you feel the need!!!

OP posts:
Poledra · 26/05/2009 11:34

Morning all, hope you're all well. After an absolutely lovely weekend here, it's raining and grim now . However, my twin bro and his partner were here over the w/e and we managed a picnic out - first one of the year I think. DD1 lost her third tooth and the Tooth Fairy forgot to come . Too busy getting pissed on red wine in the garden with aforementioned DB....... She did come the next night, and left a little note to sorry, that she'd been really busy the previous night and just hadn't got to our house

Pigley hope A's better today. You have been so busy in your new house, can I have some of your energy?? We've got loads of things to do to this house and we've been living here for 5 years....

Disney and bebe, it must be so hard for you dealing with your MS as well as everything else in your lives. I admire both of you for being so strong. ((hugs))

O's having a nap - she's still waking through the night at the moment, back onto being a boob monster. It's not like she doesn't eat enough through the day!! She's finally crawling and is now pulling up onto her knees - won't be long till she's on her feet. I think I need to get the side of the cot fixed to its higher point, so she doesn't shock me by toppling out one of these mornings. DH tried to give her a bottle twice over the holiday weekend, and she is having none of it - aaargh! We're going to try her with cow's milk, as we think she just doesn't like formula (she hasn't had any since she left SCBU at 5 days old). She'll still be getting breastfeeds too, so we'll see how she goes with that.

Off to get the kitchen cleaned before O wakes up.

SK, glad you had a good holiday.

disneystar1 · 26/05/2009 11:53

hi all, well its pretty quiet in here lately i guess everyone is out in the lovely sunshine
poledra samuel loves cows milk and loves a little drink in his cup
have you ever tried formula compared to mummys own milk i have formula is disgusting no wonder shes like no way mom
i cant imagine samuel crawling....that would be truly wonderful to see.
hes quite frustrated right now and wants to move even though he still cant sit.
i hold him on the floor and he tries to bum shuffle for a toy, he loves his toys especially bricks and this fisher price toy you put the ball on top and it rolls down a spiral he grabs it from the bottom, and off we go again.
he has gone back to co sleeping in the middle of the night and just lies there holding my finger all night and as soon a move ever so slowly he opens one eye its terrible if i need the bathroom ....

we are going to the park later and taking snacks and they can stay there all day which is cool and it wears them out.
tomorrow we are of to a special needs outdoor play area called seven springs or you may know it as hop skip and jump (theres one in bristol)
thursday its samuels nursery family day so i can leave him ith his carer in the sensory room and go play with the boys.
friday im taking them to cotswold wildlife park near oxford. taking a picnic there as well my dh says i get all the fun i dont think he realises how hard it is with 4 dc,,s alone....
anyway of to sort out lunch and put away washing (he thinks i have fun)

Poledra · 26/05/2009 11:59

Totally agree Disney - I think formula smells revolting, so wouldn't want to drink it myself. A glass of really cold cow's milk, on the other hand..... yep, I can see where she's coming from

pigleychez · 26/05/2009 12:41

Morning all,

Disney- Sounds like you have a busy week planned!.

Poledra- Your weekend getting drunk sounds fab!

Jodie- That Sam isnt 100% Horrible isnt it.

Well another weekend for us. Finishing the tiling in the bathroom, putting up a new cabinet, painting the front doorstep, gardening. Sunday we went out for dinner as it was FIL's birthday. Georgous resturant in the sunny countryside. Abigail was prety chirpy thankfully.

Having to miss Baby club this morning due to the Hand,Foot and Mouth being contagious to under 10's. Also had to cancel seeing friends this week
Got our new fidge freezer being delivered tomorrow.

Shock this morning at seeing a for sale board outside my house! Rang the estate agents and its coming down asap. Already had the neighbours round asking if we are moving out already! Very sweet. said they liked having us as thier new neighbours

Feeling smug this morning! Mum rang asking more about the BLW im doing and for my Fish pie recipie. So much for the Hippy mother doing BLW, Letting Abigail get her own way by feeding herself, and starving her by not filling her with Jars!
Think its come from seeing Abigail eating latel and the results of BLW. Mum was impressed at seeing A using a spoon and fork and feeding herself mummys yummy fish pie!

Mum has my Niece today and plans to make her fish pie for dinner but isnt sure how she will be with fish??!! Also not sure how she will be with brocolli ?!? Her usual diet is chicken nuggets and chips etc and isnt even 1 yet!
Sorry to rant.. Just have such different views to my sister on parenting so feel quite smug when mum asks me for advice on something that she previous rated me for!

Anyway must shut up and get on with some work!

disneystar1 · 26/05/2009 16:12

pigley you feel smug girl and rightly so

feels good i bet though in a nice way of course....

yes always got a busy week weve just got in from the park bought the children an ice cream whilst out and the guy saw samuel and made him a small one he wont hold any food or touch it but he ate it with me holding it....what a mess though absolutely fantastic...

geting an early dinner tonight as dh will be late and i need to sea salt the bath and give them there lavender massages tonight
samuel had his massage last night he always laughs though...especially on the feet.

pigley really nuggets and chips and not even 1 surely not...

i love fish pie its what me and samuel are having tonight with peas and green beans.

JODIEwantsanewname · 26/05/2009 16:13

Oh Pigley You've made it to tip of the day!!!!

OP posts:
bebejones · 26/05/2009 20:40

Great tip Pigley! Can't believe that about nuggets and chips! Please can I have your fish pie recipe? P is not good with fish (prob gets it from DH) am trying anything I can to find a way she will eat it!

We are all full of cold & P has been very out of sorts with it today. Very hot & sweaty, & constant stream of snot. She has been pulling her right ear so much that she has scratched it and made it sore. Really hoping it isn't another ear infection.

Got a 'spirit of nature' voucher from ctf provider today. I can't find anything on their website that I want to spend it on It all seems a bit overpriced to me!

Must go do some bejewelled blitz before bed! I CANNOT get more than 30,000 anymore, it is driving me insane!!

pigleychez · 26/05/2009 21:33

Am I the only one who cant see my tip??
Which one was it?

Bebe- for your poorly colds. fingers crossed the ear pulling isnt anything worse.
Will post the Fish pie recipe soon- Its nothing special!.

Wooh hoo... New fridgefreezer coming tomorrow and new dishwasher coming Monday! Feel spoilt!

pigleychez · 26/05/2009 22:03

Bebe

-Potatoes
-Fish- Cod,Plaice,Salmon etc or a mixture
-Milk
-Grated Cheese
-White sauce/fish sauce
-Squeeze of Lemon if you like.

*Boil the potatoes.
*While they are cooking poach the fish in milk until it is cooked.
*Make a white sauce or packet sauce for fish. A cheese sauce tastes quite scrummy actually! (but then im cheese mad!)
*Flake the fish- checking for bones and add in. Pour mixture into a shallow dish.
*Mash the potatoes add a little milk and butter, add grated cheese.
*Spread the mashed potato and cheese over the fish then sprinkle more grated cheese over the top.
*Bake in the oven for 20 mins

Like i said nothing special but we like it- Especially Abigail... She always scoffs it down!
The cheese sauce might work for you as it would disguise the fish taste more.

Poledra · 26/05/2009 22:19

Pigley, your tip seems to have had an unfairly short stint on the page - it was the one about using balloons for party invitations.

disneystar1 · 27/05/2009 08:15

we make fish pie once a week here
tesco ive noticed do a lovely mixed fish tray now its approx £3
i always get mine from abel and cole but its similar stuff. always a fav here as well.
i never saw the tip either despite looking

i have a favour to ask of you guys
im hoping one of you will have one....

i use my close sling daily but samuel is too big for the original front carry position and ive lost my dvd or instruction leaflet showing me how to use different positions for it
do any of you have a old copy or one i may borrow please
i know a few of you had one ....thanks

samuel full of snotty cold here hes grumpy cant breathe or drink bless him and the sweat is dripping of him.
looks the trip is cancelled for today....

Poledra · 27/05/2009 10:53

Hi Disney, have a look here - it's the instruction video on the website. If it's no good let me know, and I'll see if I can scan my instruction book in and e-mail it to you (that will take me a bit longer to do though). Otherwise, you could ask the customer services at Close if they can e-mail a pdf of the instruction booklet?
